Groove Pilot: Last month I was looking for a good double-kick pedal option. I called Big Dude's and it went clear off the charts silliness after Larry told me about the 50th anniversary DW 5000 carbon fiber DK.Um, yes please!Of course we talked shop, and I hollered at the "usual suspects, he also queued me in on some other great additions to my drums and away I went. Incredible!Thanks, Larry. You melted my face off that day. Also, thank you Big Dude's for having cool lighting rental, etc...(we used for a video recently)Top notch as always!👊-Brandon
Jeff Panaka: Came here after some business in the city. They had a nice selection of bass guitars and bass amps here which was great. They had a PRS Bass which I’ve never seen before. It was great to play. Unfortunately, I didn’t have space in my checkin to fit a bass so I had to settle with a t-shirt. Staff was real friendly too. 5/5

Amber Mainard: My son has been taking drums from Laura Lee Crandall at KC Rock Band & Guitar for a few years and often expresses how grateful he is to have such a positive learning environment and such an encouraging, talented teacher. We've watched him grow as a musician and as a person. He is a part of the Monday night rock band. Laura Lee, Matt and all of the other teachers provide the skills necessary to excel. I would (and do) highly recommend KC Rock Band & Guitar!

Molly Lund: My daughter expressed interest in playing ukulele at age 7 and, not knowing whether it would "stick" or not, I just Googled "Ukulele Kansas City" and came across KC Rock Band and Guitar, which was close to our home. From the first call with Laura Lee to inquire about lessons, I knew this would be a great experience. Laura Lee and her husband, Matt, are the owners and teachers and generally wonderful people. All of the teachers are fantastic - my daughter now takes ukulele and voice lessons - and it is the most fun, least pressure environment you fill find. They encourage children and support them and find common interest in popular music that makes everyone want to practice more! It's not just popular music, though - all of the teachers are very skilled in what they do and are such talented performers themselves. In over 2 years of weekly lessons, my daughter has never once complained about going. She loves it and so do we!
Ryon McKivergan: My son started in Sept. 2015. We enrolled him in one-on-one lessons with Laura Lee, one of the instructors. He had just started playing drums with the school band in August 2015, so had very little experience before starting classes. By December he was not only learning the full drum set, but he was learning to perform songs as well. Over the summer he also joined one of their Rock Bands and enjoys every minute of it! The instructors have been amazing and very patient with the students. They seem to know what each student needs in order for them to succeed in music. I would highly recommend KC Rock band & Guitar for anyone who wants to get started on their musical journey or to advance the musical knowledge they already possess!!

Deb Fleury: My son has played the saxophone for about a year and just had the opportunity to participate in KC Rock Band & Guitar over the summer for the first time. It was such an awesome and memorable experience for him. He was excited to practice (without being nagged by his mom :)) because he knew if he improved, it would help the sound of the whole band. Stacy Kearney: My daughter has been taking ukulele lessons with Ryan for 2 1/2 years and he is the perfect teacher for her. His laid-back and encouraging style works well for our family. The shop is inviting and the ukulele we purchased is a great instrument. When there were problems with the supplier sending the incorrect bags, Ryan stayed on top of things until we had the correct one.
Josh Rowland: Ryan is building an amazing guitar store and community in Brookside. The new electric guitars he’s stocking from Reverend and D’Angelico are so cool— great to finally have these in KC. We need strong boutique guitar stores in KC, and BKS is stepping up. I have been taking lessons from Ryan for a while and I appreciate his patience, and his encouragement.

Kenneth Haas: Superb! My grandson's guitar skills have significantly improved since he started taking lessons with Mr. Joe from Taylor Robinson Lessons. Joe is a knowledgeable and supportive instructor who always encourages my grandson to try new things.
Mitch Shawn: I booked a voice lesson 2 weeks ahead of time and one week before the lesson the company cancelled my lesson and failed to reschedule. I did recieve a full refund but i would have preferred that the company fullfill the date and time originally booked

Jennifer Silvey: I popped in just after 10:00am, I was the only customer in the store, and there were two staff members at the counter. Both of the staff members were on telephone calls when I walked in. I didn’t want to intrude and went ahead in picking out the book my kiddo needed for band. Both phone calls were wrapping up as I made my way to the counter and had concluded within a few moments of my reaching the register. Neither staff member acknowledged me when I walked in (I can forgive that since they were on the phone), and neither acknowledged me at the counter while I stood waiting to have them ring up the sale. A minute or two later one of the two staff members rang up the book, she still never said a word to me except to tell me the total amount due. As I was getting my money out of my wallet, I asked a question about the best way to get my youngest started with the snare drum because that is what she wants to play. The staff member said “I’m not sure what you mean-we don’t sell snare drums and I’d suggest you go with the hand bells.” The staff member then repeated the total due.I really put an honest effort into buying local and supporting local businesses. I will not give Meyer Music anymore of my business. The staff came across as curt and frankly made me feel as though it was vexing for her to have to ring up my purchase. The staff here weren’t inviting, seemed to lack in customer service skills, and made me feel less than welcome.I purchased the rest of the items my kiddo needed from Amazon.
B. W: Had issues with scheduling of our lessons and the customer service level with the women at this store. Were told when we signed up if we had an issue with the scheduled time we would be worked with to reschedule the lessons we paid for. Well, things happen and despite letting them know in advance (even when our son was extremely ill) she refused to even try and allow us to reschedule and not lose money. Essentially were (rudely/with and attitude) told we would just have to cancel/forfeit because they were too busy - so if your kid get COVID better take them anyhow! We have opted to remove him and go elsewhere for lessons.
Traci: I am super upset and disappointed with this establishment!! We have bought one violin from here, and went in to buy another one today. The lady working the desk was rude as heck. I asked to talked to the manager, she wouldn’t get up from behind her desk, because she had to finish her meeting. I am totally fine with taking our business somewhere else.
delta sriracha: Clean and organized, with a lot of lesson books, but not very many piano books besides. Very limited selection of classical music (especially above the modified “simple piano” level.)

Firooz Basri: We love going to Meyer Music. My 10 year old son is learning piano and even though he is a kid who prefers video games, he told me “I really like going to piano lessons.” That made my heart happy. Meyer is very affordable and convenient and my son loves his instructor. We were even able to do a few of the classes virtual when he was sick and I didn’t want to take him in. I highly recommend taking your child there!!!

The instructors are not personable (I took lessons for multiple instruments) and hard to talk to. Customer service is ok. They do try to sell you overpriced items but I guess that’s typical for any store these days. I wouldn’t recommend this place to take lessons for any instrument.

Jodi Dunfield: We have been coming to Meyer Music for piano lessons for five years now, and we are very happy with our teachers and our results! I am an adult student who started in my late 40's, and my son started at age 16, and we both are very excited with our progress and depth of knowledge we have gained! We purchased a Yamaha studio piano, led by the expertise and guidance of the Meyer employees and the voice and beauty of the piano is wonderful. They also helped another family member purchase a Yamaha digital piano that was affordable and came with the stand and bench. Lastly, we have purchased a lot of different kinds of piano sheet music to add to our personal library and Meyer has been able to locate and provide individual sheet music as our needs and interests changed. We are super happy and highly recommend Meyer Music!

David Harwood: As an adult beginner I wasn’t sure if Music House would be a good fit. It turned out to be a great fit. Joel has me making great progress across a variety of playing styles and the weekly lessons provide real accountability to practice regularly (the key to success).
Christy Hagan: Music House has been wonderful for our two boys, for drums and piano. Their style of teaching really gets the boys engaged in learning their instruments. The teachers have learned to meet our boys where they are, and use music they love as a tool to learn new instruments. We couldn’t be happier.
Jennie Konomos: My 7 year old has loved her introduction to music at Music House. She is in beginning piano at the PV Music House location and has aspirations of working up through other classes and instruments already. The staff and teachers there are passionate, kind and fun. He plays guitar in one of their rock bands and they play lots fun and popular music. Terri is a wonderful teacher and Brandon, his guitar instructor, has done a great job teaching Alex music theory. If your child is interested in playing or singing in a rock band, this is a great place to be.

They were so condescending, they spoke to me like they're smarter and belittled me when I tried talking to them about an issue I was having with the program. The only bad review they ever got, they resonded by saying they didn't know the person, I find that very unprofessional. They're overpriced and are not worth half of what they charge. You can get lessons online for free and some are even better quality this. This is by far the worst place to learn music! I do not recommend!!!!

He has written his own method book on the subject, and printed me off the first 15 pages to keep. There were charts, photos, diagrams and everything was presented in a logical order. After clearly demonstrating most of the techniques, he had me shoot a video of him recapping our whole lesson so I would be sure to retain the massive amount information bestowed upon me.
