Madison Avenue Psychological Services: what do users think?
Kevin S: I have enjoyed the services through my EAP. It was a little difficult getting scheduled because I didn't know to leave my name, DOB, referred through EAP, and reason for appointment to get a call back.
Megan S.: Compassionate mental health care involves listening without judgment until enough information has been collected about the individual to ensure accuracy. So that means leaving out DSM questionnaires about severe mental health issues until a patient has gone through a few sessions, or providing DSM forms to the patient before the first meeting to more accurately gage the presence of anxiety and depression.Long story short, I had just gone through a pretty traumatic experience last October and was trying to explain what happened but the therapist was more interested in diagnosing rather than listening to me (and clearly stated that she was testing for delusions). In reality, I was anxious and uncertain and going through a crisis that was difficult to explain at the time. This made me feel even more invalidated than when I started.I asked about this later on and they said this was standard practice. Something about this doesn't seem right to me, in any case. I think there needs to be better training to ensure that the patient feels understood, comfortable, and listened to before moving into diagnoses. Compassionate care is essential when dealing with mental health, period.
Casey G: Doesn't take unvaccinated teenagers! Total bufoons.
Cassandra Coyan: If I could give less I would. Only come here if you want therapy just for funsies. Dont come here if you need true help. You wont get it. Every single appointment the provider is late or they double booked. Multiple weeks in a row now they've double booked and I've gotten brushed by the wayside. I'm at the point where I'm going to charge them for wasting my time.
Eric J. Gruber: I can't get anyone to call me back from this place.
Marina Liera: My husband called today to schedule an appointment. When they called back the lady was rude and disrespectful. My husband explained he wanted to see a certain therapist and was told she wasn’t excepting new patients (understandable) but when asked if he could be put on the wait she said the wait was too long. When she explained it was over 10 months and my husband said that was fine he’d wait…she said NO. I guess it’s easier for people to turn to drug then it is to get help. We will be looking elsewhere
Kimberly Ehrhardt: So, fun fact. If you WANT therapy and just so happens that you have a probation requiring it, not through the court simply just have to be able to say yea I’m going to a court DO NOT let them know. They won’t take you AND catch a hell of an attitude explaining this to you as; this is a direct quote from Maddy “They don’t want to, because they don’t want to be involved, and don’t WANT to even so much as say to a court that you’re going” nothing else no details, just that you’re getting the help you need. Now, he could’ve obtained help from them had he not mentioned it. Strange isn’t it?Maybe the court would call and maybe they wouldn’t. It’s a laxed requirement from another state as we’ve found out through some of the other requirements.I guess, had they called, my son would’ve had the luxury of being dropped on his face cause at that point “they wouldn’t want to be involved”Way to go Madison Avenue. Real upstanding and caring business attitude you all carry. Bravo
Paula Kirkland: I’ve had a great experience over the last four years at Madison Ave. with two different therapist, both with Adult and Children. We continue to be proactive in our lives and visit 2 different therapist regularly.
Tripp M: Good luck ever getting a hold of a PERSON to schedule any appointments.
Alexandra Rosell: When I called the number available online, Fior Sandoval answered the phone, and I told her I wanted to make an appointment. She scoffed and asked where I found her, which is in and of itself unprofessional. She then asked for my name, and when I told her, she started laughing and awkwardly stuttering. I got so frustrated at being embarrassed for no reason, I just hung up. This was so unprofessional, and as a therapist, I would expect Fior to understand how damaging this can be for someone who is looking for help in a dire situation.
Stephanie Keiper: I called Katie back within 30 seconds and she said I had to call the main number and leave another message on the main number and wait another 2 days for someone to call me again (which is what she just did). When I tried to ask a follow up question she hung up on me.
Joann S: Saved me. Has been there for me anytime i have needed. Has even called me back in the evening to talk or make an appointment.
Parker Seydel: If you want to have the humbling experience of being ghosted by your therapist then I highly recommend Jim Roberts.
patricia finks: Good therapist but, I did not know they don't take Medicare. I just turned 65. No one caught it and I'm now left with a bill.
M: I was referred to Madison Avenue by my job and was seeking some sessions with my spouse. I contacted the number provided and was called back the next day. I initially requested to be scheduled with Ms. Kaiser but due to her unavailability we scheduled with Jim Roberts. Our first scheduled appointment was on a saturday at 11am. We showed up 10 minutes before the appointment and waited for 40 minutes before Mr. Roberts came out to the waiting room apologizing for our wait. Noticing his unorganized demeanor at that time I asked if he wanted to schedule for another time and day. We schedule for Monday at 5pm. We showed up 10 minutes before the appointment and after 30 minutes of waiting we left. I tried to reach Mr. Roberts several times while we waited with no success. I got a call from Mr. Roberts the next day apologizing for missing us. Unfortunately, we decided to try and meet with Mr. Roberts the following Tuesday. This time he called in advance to cancel on us. I have called Madison Avenue to attempt to have an actual professional assigned to our request with no response. In my opinion this is a very unorganized and unprofessional establishment. Definitely not worth your valuable time nor any additional frustration.
David Harrison: Therapist never showed up for our appointment. I was later told by someone in the scheduling office that he had been called out of town and apologized that he did not cancel the appointment. Office felt sketchy at best. No reception, one provider came out to tell a client that his computer was frozen, so he actually didn’t know which of us he was supposed to see and in the 30 minutes we wasted waiting there, another lady came in hoping to retrieve some paperwork because no one had responded to her calls or emails in a week. This place seems to be run by unprofessional and unorganized people. We won’t be back.
Kate S.: These people are a joke. My wife’s last visit was in September and they had an issue with insurance. My wife sent them her insurance info in an email like she was asked to do and no one had ever replied until today. It has now been 2 months. They claim that they ran her insurance and they can not find her and they are now requesting money from her. Mind you they have not tried to contact my wife in 2 MONTHS!! My wife called her insurance and they immediately were able to pull up her file. They also informed my wife that this place never submitted a claim at all. Hmmm interesting. I guess these people are just super incompetent. Not really sure what kind of scam this place is trying to pull but I will make sure that the BBB hears about it. This is ridiculous! I highly suggest people go elsewhere!
Chad Martin: Overcharged, Bogus Adjustments and No Refund after 6 monthsMy daughter was charged Out-of-Network rates for In-Network service. The physician applied bogus adjustments after she stopped seeing her then sent past due notices, threatening collections. After getting a lawyer involved they claim my daughter’s account balance is zero, but will not provide an updated statement of account for me to review. What these folks are doing is shameful. No one responds to my messages, not even the owner.
Astha S: there is no front desk and I arrived 5 min late. I waited in the room for a full hour with nobody to talk to. There were three doors, all of which were locked, and I knocked on all of them multiple times. About an hour an fifteen minutes after my appointment was supposed to start, a receptionist came out of one of the doors and was completely confused, said that my therapist was there but my appointment time was already over and nothing could be done. Another woman had been waiting with me for her therapist for AN HOUR AND A HALF. Her therapist just never showed up. This place is a complete, utter joke.
KC Web Specialists LLC: Discrete, professional and conveniently located. They are excellent at what they do. Highly recommend them.
Sheryl: I think the rating I'm giving it says most of everything that needs to be said....if you're looking for an ideal place with highly competent & professional people than this is where you need to go.

Psychpros of Kansas City: what do users think?
Kylee Martinez: Jon told my 14 year old that he didn’t need to follow our court ordered custody agreement. He told me that I shouldn’t “strong arm” my son into coming to my house. My son hasn’t been to my house in almost 6 months now. What kind of counselor advises a child to alienate a parent? Great advice for an impressionable child.
Jae Niccole: Terrible business that doesn’t support the use of medical marijuana from their patients.
Diane Elliot: I’ve had nothing but good experiences with everyone in this office. The front desk ladies have been amazing to work with and always return my calls and answer any questions I might have. The therapists that I’ve seen and worked with have always been honest, and thorough. Michelle has been amazing to my recovery and I will always 100% refer this company to anyone looking for help. I can’t say enough good things about this place.
Gregg Myers: Chris Cobb verbally attacked my daughter, during her session, in response to her honest online review of his services. Threatening her if she did not remove her post. To ambush a vulnerable client during a therapy session says a lot about his character. Additionally was charged for visits she did not attend.
darty: This has been my go to place of therapy for about 2 years. Highly professional and has personally helped me a ton. Recommended!
Sarah Walker: I have seen Jon and Chris and both are great. I stuck with Chris for EMDR and that helped so much with multiple childhood traumas. Chris is straight up with you and knows how to make me think more clearly. He has helped me so much, and I recommend him to everyone!!
Un Known: Don't expect any compassion from Chris Cobb. He has the personality of a petulant child.
Jennifer Damiano: Front desk staff are always sweet and sensitive to what is going on♥️Foss and Michelle bring a suitcase load of all-encompassing expertise and care, for all members of the family.
Anna Odorisio: The staff here is amazing. The front desk are welcoming and you feel like you're seeing good friends every time you walk through the door. Not to mention Marlin there to greet you, a sweet pup to make the day a little bit better. Foss is a phenomenal therapist as well and I could not recommend him enough.
Monica Grimaldi: First let me start we saw Chris cobb way before he bought his own location at psychpros! He has seen both of my children as young teenagers to adults and myself for at least 8 years. Depending on the situation whether it is regularly, or intermittently or long periods in-between, (which means life is good!) Chris has helped with guidance and counseling on all life issues and able to work with ALL of our personalities (which are very different btw) and make only wonderful things happen in the end. Some things we needed to hear that most people don't want to hear is helpful in many ways. He is wonderful on asking questions for details on certain situations so he can help you with the best method of healing and coping and they have worked. Once a client/counselor relationship is made with your life history, it makes it easier going forward with any other issues that arrive in the future. The front of the office has women who are good to my entire family and we are treated like family. When I have a question they are good with helping us with the resolution. We all know that new businesses start out different and we all learn new things, doesn't mean no one cares. Just ask questions! charges are only made when we arrive, and we all know rules for rescheduling to prevent unwanted charges. My whole family gives Chris cobb a huge A+ and we will never go to any other location. If we could give him a 10* we would!
David Huff: This place rocks! I never have problems getting through to a real person. Wide variety of therapists who are flexible doing tele-health or in person sessions. Jodi is always courteous and helpful. Thanks for all you guys do.
New Mexico: A great place to start your healing journey. The staff is friendly and welcoming. I am always greeted with a smile. They know you by name when you arrive and it's a peaceful atmosphere. Paying is a breeze, they even have a reasonable self pay option, which I use do to lack of insurance. I would recommend Psychpros to anyone, even my family. Because in a positive way,in many aspects, they make you feel like family. As painful as therapy can be sometimes, I enjoy going to my sessions because afterwards I always feel better. I hope this review helps someone. Good luck and GOD bless.
madison preuett: Jon is awesome. $100 for a cancellation tho
Tami Daniel: I have been a patient at psych pro for a few years now and would highly recommend to anyone seeking therapy. From the moment you walk in the lobby and are greeted by the receptionists to working with the therapists you are treated with respect, care and authenticity- not sure what more you can ask for when working on your mental health.
katie dudley: This place is wonderful and has been very beneficial for me and other people I know. I’ve been seeing Chris Cobb for almost 6 years and have no complaints at all. The whole environment there is so welcoming and inviting. All of the workers there are great, I highly recommend!
Melanie Sage: They don't do text reminders. The office will call you multiple times to remind you of your appointment. If you tell them to leave you alone, they are happy to remind you that if you're late, it's $100. Then they'll call you again later.Edit: Looking back on the session I had here with Chris Cobb, I'm still mad that I was told I was literally *breathing* wrong. Don't waste your time or money.
Zane Christenson: Another bad review for the professionalism of the front desk worker Jodie. I visited Chris for 2 sessions, Jodie is obviously behind on billing because we had not received a statement or invoice for visits. Jodie calls 2 months later to inform me that I owe $73, okay.. no problem. She then proceeds to say that the balance has been due for 2 months & that if it is not paid within 30 days they would have to send it to collections. I ask Jodie how that is possible seeing as we hadn’t received an invoice or statement from them & today was the first time I had heard from them. She proceeds to start yelling on the phone, won’t confirm a mailing address for the invoice to be sent & hangs up. To further the unprofessionalism, she will not answer the phone or give out Chris’ email address to ensure the mailing address on file is correct & the balance can be paid. After reading the other reviews, it appears i’m not the only one this has happened to.
Amber C: Extremely disappointed in the professionalism of the receptionist. (Which is also the wife of the owner) She was very rude each time and discussed personal matters with every one that came in while others were in the lobby and could hear. She called me and told me I had a past due balance from over a year ago. I called my insurance company and the receptionist never submitted the claim. I told her this information and she immediately became combative and hung up on me. Screaming, yelling and told me my daughter wasn't allowed back in the office. After reading the reviews this seems to be a pattern for her. Unfortunately we have not been back since and will never go back. I am still in shock this person is representing a company.
Jessie: 5 stars purely for Jon Effertz.
Kayla Marie: I was a patient for about 7 years now. But their office staff is just horrible. I was unaware of a $350 balance on my account for group therapy and I was called while I was asleep and left a voice mail saying if I didn’t call her back by the end of the day she is charging my card on file for all of it. Notice this is the FIRST TIME I was hearing about this. I was out of the country on a vacation last summer too and they randomly charged my card for a “session” I had, when that obviously can’t be true because I WAS OUT OF THE COUNTRY. They agreed it was their fault but wouldn’t give me my money back and instead used it as a credit towards another session.
A H: Star rating for the out patient group and for Jody who has no business being in charge of billing. We received a VM message today that they sent out a “couple of statements and haven’t heard a response...and will continue with collections by the end of the month.”The couple of statements are as follows:Statement #1 is dated 2/12/20 due date 3/13Statement #2 is dated 2/16/20 due date 3/17SAME STATEMENTS!!Today is MARCH 2.We had already paid in full what they billed on Jan27, so absolutely inexcusable to threaten collections.*edit- Jon Effertz is great!
