Robert Walding: Their website says they have plenty of Buffalo River Rock at this specific location. They have absolutely zero. Definitely will not come back for landscape material again. Wasted my time and gas.

They always have gorgeous specimens of many, many veggie, ornamental, fruit, nut & shade trees & bushes, flowers, roses, houseplants & planters... anything garden, plant or lawn related they usually have it & in abundance. The staff is great & the place is huge! So big they have electric carts for customers to use while shopping. Grateful we have this business so close to home.

Linda P: This was my first time doing my annual garden shopping at this Suburban location and I was very impressed! It's the end of the first week of May when many other areas garden stores are out of items and plants and they still had everything I hoped to find in stock. Employees were restocking everything as I walked through the aisles and were able to answer every question they were asked. They had all the blooming annuals, herbs, the variety of tomatoes I wanted, and large bags of Happy Frog potting soil I needed as well. Checking out was very efficient and there were plenty of friendly cashiers ready to move everyone through as quickly as possible. I will definitely be back to this Suburban location next year!Update: I returned again this year to purchase my plants, soil, and other gardening needs. Everything I noted as wonderful last year is still wonderful! I'm a lifetime fan of this Martin City (KCMO) Suburban Lawn and Garden location!!

I Don’t know if it’s the manager or the owner, but the lady behind the counter I overheard say I could never come back if I didn’t have my dog on a leash. I didn’t think it was a big deal, and I would have put him on a leash if they would have asked. Shes just very angry and rude. The greenhouse was empty so I just didn’t think it was a big deal all they had to do was tell me when I walked in and I would have fixed it. Everyone said hello to him until the very end I hear I can’t come back.
Joseph Killeen: I started out at the 135th Street location, where the service was very friendly, but the selection and quality of plants was poor. I think I am going to have to completely give up on 135th and the Roe locations.Then I headed out to the K7 location. That store has not let me down yet. They had everything I needed in stock. It's in the complete opposite direction of most of my work, but it is worth the drive to be able to purchase everything in one spot.Update 12/29/22: The Lenexa location isn't letting me down. They had all the foundation plantings I needed for a residential realty job I'm trying to wrap up for the year. I also purchased a yard of landscape rock to top dress a planting bed.

The nursery has been in operation for over 100 years becauase they consistently exceed expectations. A magical place to visit, the grounds are beautiful and consistently have a wide selection of healthy plants.

Linda Harris: I bought some pots. I tried to return and was told that I had to have the receipt. I put the pots on my credit card. They were not going to give me my money back, only store credit. They could tell the pots were theirs. Why make me produce a receipt if all I am getting is a store credit???? I came home and was lucky I did find my receipt. I just thought it was poor customer service.

Randy Gieselman: Would not recommend this business to friends/family/others.I called Rosehill Gardens for help with repairs on a sprinkler head and a leaking valve back in August of 2020. The technician's service was great and very fast (the only reason for more than one star)! However, I did not receive a bill to pay for the service.I visited in person about 2 weeks later and was told to expect it in the mail. It's September of 2022 and I'm only now receiving a paper statement in the mail where I've been charged late fees/interest for the past 2 years without ever having been contacted via mail or phone until now. I would think if a business was interested in being paid what was owed, they'd reach out in the event of a missed payment (within days, not years).Service:Landscaping maintenance
Michael Martin: Hired to install an irrigation system and a lawn renovation in the fall of 2022. Had several issues with the irrigation install and they did come out to fix those. Credit to them for that. The lawn renovation was overpriced for the work that was done, in my opinion.The reason for my 3/5 review is mostly due to their communication. They are not great with this aspect of their work. I’ve left several unreturned voicemails and they all were time sensitive for work being done. Never received a call back. The only way to get a response is to call continually or vocalize a complaint.After both jobs the people doing the work left without a word said to me. No after care or instruction on next steps. No inspection of work. No approval from me as the customer. Nothing. This is not on the responsibility of the laborers themselves but rather the department and project managers.The work is mid-level but they did fix prior errors. I will not be hiring this company again. Their price point is much higher than the small shops. That would be justified if the quality of their work or the standard of their service was much higher. Regrettably neither aspect is true.Lastly, I would not be as unsatisfied if the jobs I hired for were much small or less expensive but I paid $7,500 in one summer with Rosehill. That is no small investment for a residential property. I don’t expect preferential treatment but I do expect more than received based on what I paid.
D Thomas: Great place to get plants. Prices are usually half of that at suburban down the street. Everything I've gotton here has a high survival rate and does well. Folks who run the place are friendly and nice to talk too. I highly recomend this place.
Laird McNeiley: Beware if you have a sprinkler system and are using Rosehill for your landscaping. We are pleased with the landscape plan and for the most part all of the work performed. The disappointment comes from all of the damage caused by Rosehill to the existing sprinkler system. It has cost us several hundred dollars to put the system back together after the work was done. It almost seems like that is part of the plan, dig up the current system , accept no responsibility and then charge you for any repairs even when it is very clear that the damage was a result of negligence.Service:Yard landscaping

swixon: We recently held an engagement party at their patio event space at their Martin City location. First, the venue is absolutely wonderful. It was full of greenery and mums (it was held in Oct) and didn't need any decorations because of the natural beauty. The space had a water feature (small waterfall/pond) and plenty of seating/tables. Furthermore, they offered interior space for the bar set-up and food. The guests were so impressed and continuously commented on the venue. Although this was an "open house" type of event for the engaged couple, 95% of the people stayed the entire time due to the venue and simply enjoying the space.Jeff Menefee, the Event Coordinator, was simply amazing. He was patient and kind during the planning process. A heckava nice fella. Before we arrived that day, he had prepared the space with table placement, setting up bar area, providing tables/tablecloth set up for the food and making sure the space was ready for our guests. Throughout the party, he came around to ensure the patio umbrellas were adjusted for the sun as it shifted and checked-in to make sure things were going well. He was the absolute best! As a matter of fact, a couple of the guests commented on how impressed they were with him and to comment that he was so nice.Jeff's kindness, flexibility and patience coupled with the outstanding event space made this such a success. I know a couple of people at the party are already discussing holding their future events there. That speaks volumes.If you are planning a party or a special occasion, I would highly recommend doing it at RoseHill Gardens. You will not be disappointed!

Our landscaper Steve listened to our ideas and then made them better through his great design. We're in the execution stage now and he is highly responsive as he project manages the large project across multiple teams (hardscape and landscape). Several of our neighbors have told us how much they love the work we're doing. Prior to working with Rosehill we had a challenging, sloped yard. Now it is being transformed. We anticipate many years of great memories once this project is complete. A bonus is that no tree or plant we've ever bought from Rosehill for more than 15 years ever needed to be replaced.

The staff has consistently provided key insight and support in terms of hydro culture and even soil growing, along with advice the staff here is heckin friendly and very easy to talk to. For new farmers looking to expand into hydro culture or upgrade their indoor/outdoor nutrients & tools… this is the spot to go. And my favorite thing as a novice grower is that here I don’t feel talked down to for not knowing something, the staff is patient and actually listens! Ah gosh ok I’m done :)

I walked into YRG and was immediately surprised that not only did they have everything I’ve been researching from lights and soil to ventilation and nutrients but also the heat atmosphere and the owners are full of knowledge and you can see that they want to spread that around and tell build a gardening culture. Kelli Bloemendaal: Went to get a bamboo stick but if course ended up buying 3 houseplants as well. The young clerk was reading a book, maybe she was upset she actually had to do her job. 3 plants were clearly marked with price. She scanned the most expensive one 3x. I said that they weren’t all that price. Her response was “well let’s see if that is true”. She then picked up her book and finished checking me out one handed. Maybe I should be impressed that she can multitask? Today just cemented why I usually go to Family Tree. This is the 3rd time I’ve been to Suburban and had horrible customer service. Won’t give them another chance.

The lot was full of Spring shoppers, but the selection was great.4/2021: Unfortunately this location is not great for contractors pulling a trailer or who need large stock. On my last visit there was no place for me to park, so I had to park across the street and down the block. Their selection was poor, especially considering that it was April 14th and the plants are ready to get in the ground. I was shopping for larger balled and burlapped stock and they had nothing.Update 4/21: At the end of the day, I was able to purchase everything that I needed at the K-7 Lenexa location.

M Gaut: It's all about the quality. I purchased 3 shrubs at a big box retailer this spring. (Rhymes with shows). All 3 of them died, in spite of my huge water bill. I just purchased 3 replacements at Suburban Lawn and Garden. They are the same variety and the same size. Suburban had them priced $5 higher. But I am amazed at the difference in the size of the root ball. I believe these shrubs actually will survive. The difference in quality is well worth the difference in the price. Courtney Rose: The Guild was the PERFECT venue for our urban/ downtown KC wedding dreams. Not only is it stunning but it has everything you need to have your entire wedding in one place. Their outdoor garden was beautiful for our ceremony, the lobby was spacious but cozy for our cocktail hour, and the main room was grand and elegant for our reception. The staff was so sweet and accommodating throughout the entire planning process. On the day of, they made sure our day was as perfect as we imagined. We cannot recommend this venue enough!

Edward Straley: I am a frequent customer of Soil Service Garden Center and have been for years. I have also purchased some items from Soil Service Nursery across the street. They use to have staff that was very knowledgeable on Roses. Today I drove specifically there to get something to treat my roses from Rose Midge. I asked at the desk if there was a knowledgeable person on roses and the young girl informed me that everyone there was knowledgeable. Do I asked her and showed her a picture of Rose Midge and she had no idea. I asked if anyone else on staff would have any knowledge she proceeded to the official and came back and said no one knew anything. I was surprised as I knew they sold roses or use to.On my my way home I called Family Tree Nursery in Overland Park and spoke to Lydia, she was extremely knowledgeable and gave me 3 solutions in detail for the treatment. This is very important to me as I have over 30 Heirloom Roses and do not want to loose my investment. I will be visiting Lydia this Saturday for further assistance.Edward Straley

Several of the other nurseries suggested we try Soil Service Nursery.Although they did not have the specific tree, they did have such a wide verity we were able to find a great second choice with the assistance of staff.So, if you are looking for something unusual I would try Soil Services first before heading to Family Tree or other local nurseries.
D Thomas: This is without a doubt my favotite place to get plants in the city. Theres a great selection of native and edible plants. Several tropicals whith loads of information on caring for them. The staff are friendly and know their store well. The prices are often much better than suburban lawn and garden as well.If you're into permaculture gardening this place is a must stop.

The buildings are set up in a really accessible way, lots of ramps. Pricing was typical. They had the almost out of season items I was looking for, and the middle aged gardner man in the perinials section offered good recommendations. My visit felt like stepping through a portal into a magic jungle.
