Hope Schmidt: Best French onion super I've ever had. That's all I have to say. 🙂🤭🤤But in all honesty, a really pleasant lunch atmosphere with friendly service and a delightful lunch menu. They even have fresh squeezed lemon and limeade!🍋Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More

Byron Bruce: Came here for lunch. An old French with neo American twist. Small but classy little spot downtown. I had the chicken sandwich, which was very delicious. Juicy and filling. The aioli really set my sandwich off, and the fries were a tasty, crispy accent. I didn't get to try my wife's salmon, but she said it was great, and it looked top notch. Our waitress was fast, attentive, and professional. Couldn't ask for more.Overall, this place is a top quality eatery imo.
Darren Sorrels: This place is very cozy and chill. I really enjoyed the meal we had. My table had a few of the appetizers and they were all fantastic:Korean Empanadas (yeah, I know, but try it),Pork wontonsAnd the meatballs were great starters. Most of my table ordered the Charisse burger and it was made perfectly. One other person sampled the desert and I would have gotten it if the meal hadn't filled me up so muchGo here with a small group or for lunch for a good treatParking: It's located in downtown Kansas City, which means parking is always a challenge unless you find a parking garage that isn't too full or too expensive
Jenni Rohner: We enjoyed dinner here a few weeks back for a date night. We started with the Korean Empanadas - a must! So much flavor packed into each bite. Phenomenal. We had the Flank Steak and the Braised Duck Flatbread for our main dishes. The Flank Steak was cooked as we ordered (love when it's not under or over!) and came with a choice of sauce and side. We chose the veal demi- Glace and the Gnocchi. Both went well with the steak. The duck Flatbread is actually a started but it is large enough to be an entree. The mix of flavors between the duck, arugula, feta, shallots and mushrooms was dynamite. I was blown away with how delicious it was!
Emily Zahner: I’ve only been here for the lunch take out, but it might be some of the best hand held food I’ve had in KC, specifically the beer gyro and turkey sandwich. It’s a ton of food and the Carry out special is only $10 and comes with a side of fries soup or salad (no up charge) and the service is nice as well. One of my go to lunch spots for on the go
Edwin Reece: Update from my recent visit:I love their carry out menu. The prices are reasonable and there is usually plenty of food. My last visit I decided to go healthy and ordered a Cesar salad (I know, not that healthy but better than the burger and fries). The chopped leaf lettuce was barely green and barely there. For the cost I didn't think it was worth it. I even added chicken for more money. It was certainly not worth the price I had to pay. It felt like the quantity of lettuce for a side salad with a good amount of toppings. I was very disappointed and will not order a salad again.----I've not actually dined in. I work downtown close and their take out menu is really good and much more reasonable than the dine in prices. I've tried the chicken wrap, hamburger and gyro. All very good. I recently tried the turkey sandwich and now have a new favorite. They come with a good portion of hand cut truffle fries or opt for a salad or soup, I tried the tomato basil and it was very good. On my most recent visit I ordered the chicken sandwich. I enjoyed this too. You can order online and schedule to pick it up. I normally walk somewhere for lunch so only a short walk and then back to the office. I will say I was disappointed with 1 order. When ordering a bottled water, the menu clearly says Dasani water. What I received was a cheap generic city bottled water. I like Dasani over other brands and why I ordered water. Needless, I haven't ordered water since. Overall I like the food and will continue to order online for lunch.
Ann Tran: Excellent service and food! Staff also went out of their way to get us in. Thank you so much!
Michael McCaul: We had a pretty large & complicated carryout order but they had it ready to go a few minutes early and everything was exactly correct. Food was delicious!
Nina Larsson: Came here for the first time for date night and will be back again! We ordered half the menu and were hugely impressed by everything we received. Cocktails are ice cold & dangerously tasty. The flavors & quality of the food is unmatched, from the salads to the bolognese and flank steak. We highly recommend the Korean empanadas! We enjoyed the modern yet relaxed atmosphere & music. It was refreshing to be somewhere where nothing felt rushed. This is a place to sit, relax and enjoy your company, take your time eating, drinking and enjoying the space. We are already recommending this hidden gem to friends and look forward to our next visit.
Sabrina Wood: The filet is one of the best steaks I’ve ever had! Do not sleep on this place
Katie griffith: Such a fantastic new years eve experience!! We had a large group and they executed it smoothly and it was all so delicious. Fantastic job. Cozy atmosphere and friendly staff!!
Jane Vaught: Great food responsibly farmed. Vegan and non-vegan options
Donna Perez: Appetizers and main meal were delicious, great variety. Staff very hospitable. Excellent experience!
Jeffery Wells: A decent meal. Easy to get a seat and very nice staff. Our two quibbles are that they should serve French bread with the meals, as you would hope in any restaurant claiming to be French or French inspired. Also, a touch too cold. Maybe turn the heating up a tad. Parking just outside on Friday night was a plus.
Kimberly A: I've attempted to eat at Charisse several times. Both other times a friend and I went they were closed. Their hours are fairly narrow so make sure you're able to be seated before you go, especially after 1 to make sure they can still serve you. Also note that the parking garage that is directly next to the restaurant is *not* available for restaurant parking oddly. I was directed to the opposite side of the building, which is Commerce Bank parking as well. The most convenient place to park for this restaurant is right outside the commerce entrance leading from the parking garage. The menu itself is the perfect size. Not too short not too long, enough to guarantee that care is put into everything that served. The prices are very fair as well considering the location and the quality of food. They have several white and red wines by the glass as well as a cocktail menu. They offer several different flavors of homemade lemonade. We ordered a variety of sides and appetizers which were all delicious. My favorites were the gnocchi and the pork dumplings. They were busy, but not full, on a weekday so a table should not be hard to find if you plan ahead. I'll definitely come back here to see how the menu evolves. It's nice to see a quality bistro in downtown!
mando rodarte: Amazing Hosts. Very professional, the chef is amazing. Very clean and pleasant, you even feel good in the restroom. We had a small wedding reception there and it was worth every penny.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More

Ariadne Flores: The staff was personally my favorite part about this place. They were all extremely welcoming and friendly! It was absolutely delightful seeing them all come out in their swan lake interpretation to present the bottle of wine to the table next to us! They have an extensive drink menu. My partner loved the lamb chops he ordered with a ratatouille side. They were cooked as ordered and paired excellently. There were no vegetarian appetizers to enjoy, so I picked one of the 2 vegetarian options. Plating was beautiful, but it was salty and the flavors clashed more than complimented eaxh other. Nothing was unique tasting about the desserts, although after your check, they gave a wonderful chocolate truffle which turned out to be my favorite thing to eat from there.Vegetarian options: There are 2 Vegetarian options on the menuWheelchair accessibility: 1 wheelchair accessible parking spot

Kathleen Cross: A unique, romantic dining experience in one of K.C.'s oldest restaurants. It never disappoints. Katelynn Floyd: This was the first time I had been here, and it will not be the last! The food was the most delicious I've had, and it was beautifully plated. I had Jill as my server, and she was so attentive and amazing. It was hard to pick from all the amazing items on the menu, but I settled on the oysters, hot octopus, and the veal, and I do not regret it. Just wow! This is a must try!

James Racz: This really is a hidden gem in the KC area. Wonderful ambiance, top notch food and delightful company. Jim H.: I have eaten at a lot of high end places which have disappointed me, but this is not one of those places. I had a ribeye which was cooked to perfection. Another party member had the filet mignon which just melts in your mouth. Nice romantic atmosphere, nothing pretentious about the decor or staff. This place is not cheap - $180 for two which did not include drinks or dessert - but it was worth every cent. One thing to know is there is no on-site parking so you need to find street parking nearby.
Kelanie Ball: Nice place.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Jeremy Hale: The best meal/dining experience I've had in Kansas City.I had the filet, the other person in my group had the ribeye. The steaks were well seasoned and perfectly cooked. Included sides were excellent. Escargot was great, and the garlic/butter sauce it came in was insanely good. We foolishly had a late lunch and were too full to try salads/soups/desserts, but I'm sure they're all amazing as well based off of what I heard people around us saying. Service was impeccable. This will definitely be my choice for birthdays/anniversaries going forward.

Eileen Schaumleffle: Such a lovely place for lunch on the patio. Everything was excellent and felt like a little escape to the south of France. Wonderful service and the food was delicious. The scallops were cooked to perfection, seared and soft inside. The French onion soup had a lighter broth than I prefer, but still great flavor. Mussels were fresh and the broth was perfect for enjoying with bread. I especially loved the crab cake - full of crab meat and crunchy on the outside.

Granted we were 30 min late for our reservation ( I did call and let them know we were running late in advance) and were told we only had an hour, which was fine with us. We ordered French onion soup which was very tasty and then were told 3 more times how much time we had left. Starting to get annoying now as we got it the first time. Needless to say, no time to order food. Not sure if we will go back.

PotPie: what do users think?
Kelly Kindvall: Saw this place on the list of places from "Diners, drive ins and dives" and thought to try it since the pot pies looked so good. We arrived shortly after they opened so we were seated right away. We ordered pot pies and the butcher board. Both were fantastic. I loved the puff pastry top of the pot pies because that is how we make pot pie at home. It's light and not as filling, so we did not leave over stuffed. The service was great and I would recommend this place to anyone that loves pot pies.Vegetarian options: They do have a vegan pot pie for those that don't eat meat or animal products.
Trevor Hickman: Delicious home style food that perfectly matched the intimate dining area. Their beef pot pie transported me back to eating dinner at grandmas house in the wintertime. The food tasted like my grandparents warmth and love was literally cooked directly into the filling. I was blown away at the tenderness and depth of flavor in each piece of meat. 15/10 highly recommended to anyone who loves their grandparents and wants to immerse themselves in pure nostalgia.

Sherri Wyatt: The food was fabulous, the service was great, and the atmosphere was just right. My family has raved about this restaurant for years, and I finally got to see what all the fuss was about!!! The crust on the chicken pot pie brought tears to my eyes...it was so light and flaky!!! Erik Stone: "PotPie offers an enchanting culinary journey like no other. Each dish, especially their signature pot pies, showcases an impeccable balance of flavors, innovation, and soul-satisfying comfort. The drink selection is nothing short of spectacular, offering a perfect pairing for every meal. However, what truly sets PotPie apart is its extraordinary staff. They masterfully curate a warm, welcoming ambiance that matches the excellence of the food. This is not just dining, it's an experience worth savoring. Five stars well-deserved."

As always, you can't get better bread pudding anywhere. I wish I knew how they make the dressing for the goat cheese salad. So good.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More

Chez Elle Crêperie and Coffeehouse: what do users think?
R J: We have been here on and off for 10 years, its been a few years since our last visit and frankly largely disappointing. The Suisse Crepe (ham, asparagus with Hollandaise) was lacking in flavor, virtually no Hollandaise, under seasoned and basically no cheese. My wife had the #1 which is chicken, pesto etc. More flavor but largely from the pesto. We also ordered the lobster bisque, generous amount of lobster meat (seriously generous), but too much tomato paste and cream made the bisque largely bland and fatty and the "bread" served with it was an odd shaped brioche roll, obvioulst strsight out a mass produced item that was stale and not heated and hence left on the plate after one bite. Smoothies were ok, mango smoothie was bitter (hard to get good mangoes in KC admittedly). Unfortunately the main let down was service. A tribe of kitchen staff (I counted 9) and maybe 2 or 3 servers who left tables unbussed so we had to clean a table to be seated. Not a professional group (using their phones while we waited to order) and oblivious to what a server should deliver. I don't think we will go back again, a shame frankly given good experiences in previous years.

Kamryn Gezidel: Been here a few times and I love the atmosphere, décor & inviting staff . I ordered the mixed berry crepe with blueberries, strawberry, banana and cream cheese filling , this crepe was light + refreshing . I also ordered the savory Philly cheese steak crepe . Now that crepe was DELICIOUS. Normally I don’t go for savory crepes but I’m glad I stepped out of my comfort zone to try this one. I ordered the cappuccino & a bottle of cranberry juice . My cappuccino wasn’t very good , it lacked flavor , tasted like hot milky water so I opted to try a frappe . The mocha frappe was good . The cranberry juice was just a small bottle of ocean spray which they charge too much for ( it was like 4 dollars) , I noticed that a lot of people just get water instead. They have a self serve water station with plastic cups so that’s nice . The location & outside patio is honestly the best part ! You can sit on the patio, enjoy the breeze, and see locals biking/walking around as you enjoy a decadent crepe 🙂 A inviting and romantic atmosphere!

Sarah Purcell: Crepes were excellent, even the buckwheat gluten free one I had was smoother and softer than other places I've had. Food arrived quiet fast. It was a nice casual date for us!Dietary restrictions: GF crepes taste quiet good and have a good texture... you can sub GF buckwheat crepes on any menu choice.
Liz Ibarra-Moore: This was our 2nd visit to Chez Elle and I believe will now be tradition anytime we visit KC! Absolutely delicious crepes and quiches!Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Recommended dishes Savory Crepes, Quiche of the Day, Sweet Crepes …More
Drew Sasse: Lobster Bisque... Maybe the best thing I've ever eatenWent for gf's bday and even though it was busy, the line at the counter went fast and the delivery of the food was also fast. Wasn't a huge fan of my crepe, but that Bisque though! Whole lobster tail in it basicallyFood: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Recommended dishes Lobster, Bisque …More
Jillian O'Connell: I had a nice first visit to Chez Elle. This is an order at the window, find a seat, and they will bring your food and drinks out to you. The menu is up on the wall when you walk. In. I recommend taking some time to review the menu online if you get overwhelmed by lots of options! There is air conditioned seating inside with a help-yourself water station. Outside, there are a number of small tables with umbrella. The side street isn’t too busy so you can still chat and hear the person you’re with.We ordered number 2. Tour Eiffel and number 26. Galette (Brie and buckwheat). The Tour Eiffel was delightful! The salmon and artichokes inside the light crepe with capers and herbed crème cheese on top was the perfect balance. So flavorful but not overly heavy. The Galette was OK. Not bad but nothing special. The eggs are placed on top the crepe and could have used a little more seasoning or herbs. The Brie and spinach inside had a nice flavor, although I would have preferred more spinach.Overall a fun first experience and I look forward being back to try more!
Mackenzie Cremeans: Always a wonderful experience at Chez Elle!

Erika Cavnar: Coffee and savory crêpes were amazing! Will definitely go back to try the sweet crêpes.
Shawn: This is a welcoming estaishment with seating both indoor and outside, seating is open seating, where they have these elegant Paris inspired number holders. There are water stations through out that are self serve. They have breakfast, dessert and savory style crepes that range from classica to flavor combinations that will surely give your mouth a new flare for crepes. All the crepes are numbered so all you have to do at the" order here" area is explain your number. The cost is fair ranging from 9-12 per crepes. They have salads, soups and smoothies as well as some fresh baked goods If your in the area for a light snack.I got a couple of drinks the London fog was exquisite. 7.5 out of 10. A tea with a shot of expresso, really sweet. The brave, was absolutely amazing and our of the best expresso's I've had in kansas city. 9.8.I ordered 3 crepes. 1 breakfast crepe and 2 dessert crepes. The breakfast crepe was my fav it was bacon, egg, and maple. A 9 out of 10.The patriots is supposed to be strawberries, bananas and blueberries..topped with crme and both a vanilla and raspberry sauce. There was zero strawberries and you could tell that it was missing. 2 out of 10, I was extreamly disappointed in this error on their part.I asked the server host to recomend another dessert crepe I let her know I was not a huge fan of chocolate..what does she do she suggest the most chocolate item on the menu. Au chocolate. Choclate crepe with chocolate creme topped with raspberry sauce and chocolate sauce a chocolate overhaul again not for me 1 out of 10 my taste buds may differ from yours.Vegetarian options: Many vegetarian optionsParking: 15Dietary restrictions: They can accommodate restrictions
Charlie Brown: This place is one of my favorites for breakfast in KC. They have a wide variety of both sweet & safety crepe options & they're all done very well. The staff is always friendly & though they are quite busy on the weekends, they move things along quickly. I've never had a terribly long wait. Highly recommend if your in KC & you like crepes.
