Bryan Whitehead: I’ve been dining here since before it was called La Bodega, so naturally it’s an enduring favorite for me. I always get a combination of tapas, so I don’t have much experience with entrees or salads. The small plates are outstanding. Almost everything I’ve gotten here has been an excellent combination of good basic cuisine and delicious sauce. I’m a big garlic fan, and they do an especially good job with garlic-intensive flavors.I just about always get the brotxeta and the papas fritas con ajo. From there it depends on what’s on special, what my companions want to try and what happens to catch my eye. As I said, I’ve almost never gone wrong. They also do a good job with cocktails. On my most recent visit I got an allspice daiquiri that was quite good.The service here is excellent. I recommend going during happy hour for the cheaper tapas and reduced noise level. Getting lots of small things can add up to a big bill at the end of the meal, and parking can be a little weird. But really this is one of KC's best dining experiences.

Ben Valley: I love tapas places and they are too few. This place is EXCELLENT! If you've never tried or you love tapas..... GO! They also have crazy cheap happy hour deals that are almost HALF OFF! You are doing yourself a disservice if you don't go. There are few places like this a one. Happy hour is Monday to Friday from 2 to 5. Bring a date, bring a spouse, bring of your friends, or go alone. BUT GO!!!!!

Emily Simpson: This place was okay. It was obviously trendy, but I went there with my dad and his older friends, and they couldn't understand the menu, and then you're outside and you've got the noise from the cars driving above you. The two tapas items that I picked from the menu for the table were a hit, but the other two that the table just went with at the suggestion of the server were kinda meh. The drinks were delicious, though. And though noisy, the patio was super cute. I think I'd have a different experience going back with friends. Not for the older crowd, I'd say. I think it could be a 5 star experience if I went with my girlfriends.

Julie Votipka: We took my parents to Trago for their first experience with tapas. They thoroughly enjoyed it! We all agreed our favorite dish was the Spanish meatballs, they were really tasty! Oh, and those bacon wrapped dates are to die for. We also enjoyed the puffy tacos, fried potatoes, burrata, steak and finished with churros. There was nothing left on those plates. They have the best Sangria in Liberty and everything we ordered was delicious and well prepared. The service is also amazing with great recommendations on what to try together. The side upgrade to french fries is well worth $1 as the fries are amazing (comparable to KC Joes). Shawn: Its highly recomended that you make reservations for parties of 3 or more ahead of time. They do accept walk ins, the bar is open seating and there are two tables and window seating available for parties of 4 or less.I sat at the bar and ordered a coffee, the brioche french toast and 2 eggs over medium. I had to ask for sugar a couple of times and water was never offered to me. It wasnt until i stared at an empty coffee glass and 2 nearly empty food plates that the bartender finally came back, he never checked in to see how my food was or asked me if I would like an additional coffee. He was polite and nice but not a 10 out of 10 for service. He was about a 7 out of 10 or 4 stars out of 5.The atmosphere was inviting there were sounds of the 80's playing overhead and it was so loud im not sure how anyone could hear over the other conversations within the bar without talking an extra octive louder. The acoustics in this place are not the greatest. Im sure based on its location though they rock to the night crowd. The decor was that of what you expext from a beer kitchen or brewery. Clean. Rustic and comfortable. The beer draft taps hanging from the ceiling were quite interesting. The natural light and lighting were a pleasant contrast. 8 out of 10, or 4 out of 5 stars.Now onto the food, what you came here for. I ordered a coffee. The brioche french toast, and 2 eggs over medium.The coffee was warm not hot, it wasnt burnt and tasted good. It was on the lighter side and tasted much like what you expect from a decaf. I rated this a 6.5 out of 10.The eggs were cooked right, seasoned with the right amount of salt and pepper, garnished with some parsley. A 8 out of 10.The brioche french toaste were quite equisate. They came 3 sliced cooked quite well. Topped off with salted pecans that slapped. Their were 2 slices of applewood smoked bacon on top and the syrup was a signature bourban syrup that was super unique and really brought the entire dish together. I give this a 10 out of 10.For dessert i ordered their baby donuts. They came in a brown bag with 2 dipping sauces. A fruit compote and a "cereal milk" anglaise.. both toppings complimented this home made donut hole feel and really went down smooth. There is quite enough to make this a shareable dessert or a fun appetizer to set off the taste buds. The portion sizes are reasonable and the service was quick! We made reservations to make sure we got a seat. It was t crowded that day, but I would recommend you make a reservation if you have more than four people.

At least the appetizer was also missing from the bill. Fries don’t come with the burger or sandwich - they are $4 extra.

Sapphic Sphinx: Overpriced tourist trap for Johnson County palates. 12 dollars for a small, subpar cucumber salad. 10 dollars for ricotta on toast. For some perspective, this is the same price as the famed ricotta toast that also includes homemade jam at the Los Angeles restaurant “Sqirl”. Might be worth it to people who have not dined on tapas in other cities.And they respond to negative reviews so defensively, you’d think if they were confident in their product they’d ignore them. Would have given more stars if I hadn’t seen their treatment of dissatisfied customers. There are much worthier and fairly priced restaurants in the city. Fully expect a salty response to follow.

Gwen Goldfish: Personally thought this place was overrated. Not bad - just overrated. I had the lamb kebab that was ground lamb when I was expecting pieces of lamb and it doesn't specify on the menu. It was set in a sauce which was pretty necessary because the lamb, ( even though ground and mixed with spices) didn't have much flavor. The server was really nice and very helpful but just a bit over the top.I would go again if someone else wanted to go but I wouldn't be in a hurry to try it again myself.

She suggested the tequila white wine sangria, that was amazing! The cucumber salad was wonderful! The flavor was great and so beautifully plated. The Roasted Feta was to die for! The way it was made, it felt very light. We also had the fuzzy eggs. Those were so good as well. We also had chicken which was cooked to perfection, it was moist and full of flavor. Avery Epstein: The food was fantastic. We did not know what to expect but everyone enjoyed their meal. I got the pork/pork belly, and the meat was cooked perfectly. My stepmother doesn't really eat red meat, but she said if she lived in KC, she would come back every month just to eat the Friday special (she is from Chicago). The ribs were the best I have ever had. The beans were a little sweet for my liking but everything else was great. We sat at the bar and the service was really good and attentive. I recommend getting there before 11:30 it got very busy after that. The restaurant is beautiful, different vibe than the Austin bbq spots.

Elena McNickle: I have never been a big BBQ fan.This place is hands-down the best barbecue I have ever had and I would have it any day. It doesn’t matter what kind of mood I am in, Q39 always makes my mouth water. It is the only place I have been where the brisket has a perfect smoke line, will literally fall apart with your fingers, and has no fat on it. The burnt ends are to die for. And I highly recommend the best wings on the planet for your appetizer, they are called that for a reason.If you are coming on a Friday or Saturday night, or there is a game of some sorts, call ahead to reserve seating or you will have a long wait. The wait is totally worth it, but still.Unfortunately I am moving out of the area soon and I will say this place is probably what I will miss most about KC, and if I ever come back to visit, I will eat here in a heartbeat.Parking: Parking is very hard to come by on a busy night, usually you have to park across the street or somewhere you are not supposed to.

Sam Coyle: Second time visiting Voltaire but it was our first time eating here. Voltaire did not disappoint. First off, you can't go wrong with any of their cocktails. I always order a margarita which isn't on the menu but its always so refreshing + not sugary! But my favorite cocktail I have ever had is their espresso martini. It is probably one of my most favorite ones I have ever had.Food? Woah... where do I even begin? We started with a few apps to get us going! We started with the dumplings, mussels and two sides of fries to split between 6 of us. The mussels were my favorite. I'd also like to add that the amount of mussels are very large. Like much larger than you would normally get at a smaller plate type restaurant. Every entrée we ordered was also spectacular. The service was a little on the slow side but the food + cocktails made up for it!

My friend had a mixed drink and received hers instantly. When it came time for dessert. The server let someone at our table order, And when I tried to point to what I wanted. She grabbed the menu from me. I pulled it back twice before I just let go and said forget it. I also wanted to order another drink. But she ignored me and walked off. My daughter asked me after leaving if I knew her and had done something to her in the past for her to act like that. It was completely confusing. I'd go again but will sit at the bar.
