Sydney Bernstein: I attended Kansas City academy from 2012-2014 and was a staff member during the 2021-2022 school year. My time as a student at KCA was transformative. After a tragic death of my parent in 2010 I was struggling academically and socially in public school. I would frequently skip school due to anxiety and depression. As a sophmore I knew I would not be able to graduate at the current high school I was attending and began to look for alternative options. A family friend who was a staff member at KCA recommended I come visit the school. From the moment I stepped foot in the door I knew I wanted to join KCA’s community. As a student I was given the opportunity and freedom to explore myself in a safe space where it was okay to be yourself and make mistakes. I was offered a lot of leadership opportunities. I wanted to come to school everyday. The faculty and staff were so welcoming and encouraging. For the first time in my life I felt seen, heard, and accepted by KCA’s community. I was so sad to graduate in 2014 but I have remained a part of the community one way or another 9 years later. I recommend this school for any student or parent looking for a academic environment that is creative and accommodating.
Sage WolfeZogg: I graduated from KCA in 2015. They teach kids to be involved in their education, to explore their own interests, to endlessly ask why. We learned to think of people besides ourselves, to break problems down into manageable amounts. I was one of the students (selected by the students) who decided on community services requirements. There were students, facility, and community members involved. Even as a 15 year old I felt heard, supported, and respected.
Lauren D: Great school. Small classes. Teachers were involved with students. Had their own garden and cooking classes. Lot of fun engaging projects especially art.
mike cowger: Kansas City Academy, and the staff that makes it what it is, has been a tremendous source of support, kindness, and growth for our son, who has just completed his first school year there. In what could very well have been an incredibly difficult time the staff at KC Academy has created a wonderfully welcoming and inclusive environment where our son has (and is still!) learning how to thrive and take his own narrative with both hands and make it his own. I absolutely recommend KCA for any kiddo and family who are looking for a place to really belong.

Amy Parker: This has been a life-altering, amazing school for my daughter. For a kid who didn't fit in with the more traditional public school setting, KCA was just the place where she could be herself. The teachers and staff are informal, approachable, VERY supportive, and maintain a quality, meaningful education. I would never have thought a school like this existed and will be forever grateful that it does. This school goes above and beyond to not only support each unique kid but help them become the best versions of themselves they can be. sloane swift: This school is bad, the kids here are bad. The teachers teach horribly i didn't learn anything. The students pushed me to attempting suicide, several times. The teachers did not investigate and it was horrible.
Samsung Chromebook #17: Worst school i've ever gone too, the staff allowed other students to bully me due to my family not being able to afford the tuition. They refused us for financial aid, and allowed rumors and lies about me spread throughout the school. I got sent death threats, and became very depressed during this time. It was horrid. Please don't send your child to this school.

Cathy Metcalf: KCA has been extremely proactive in providing our children with a top-notch experience under the current COVID-19 conditions. The teachers spent the summer learning new digital platforms to assist with their online lessons. The school created a balanced schedule for the students to be digitally engaged with their classmates and teachers daily. KCA is consistently evaluating conditions to determine when students can return to in-person classes. The online schedule was designed to seamlessly flow with the in-person schedule once students can return to campus. We have the utmost confidence in the leadership and faculty at KCA and we know that our children are receiving the best education possible to prepare them for their futures!

Heidi Milliken: We're a military family who moved from the Nashville area of Tennessee. The schools there were fantastic. Staley is a whole other level. The academics, athletics, faculty, community spirit all go unmatched compared to the many school districts we've lived in. We actually bought our home for this school. My daughter is an AP student and part of the incredible Marching Band program. She was also given a MacBook Air to use through her time there. Plus I hear the lunches are great🙂 The new Principal is full of positive energy and motivation as well, he'll continue to take the school to even higher levels, of that I'm sure. The community has been so welcoming and it's such a gorgeous area to live in.

Tom Prewitt: I recently attended a basketball game at Center and was appalled by the actions of the students and athletes. It's very clear the coach has no control over his undisciplined team. I certainly would not want anyone I know to attend Center. It's scary!!
Jeremiah Daniel: Its not really the perfect school its just a school. Meaning the troubles that you may face at Center are only the beginning and not the end for it will not be your first or your last. This school will prepare you for the future and as long as you stay true to yourself than nothing bad should really happen to you despite drama that may or may not occur is only if you chose to let it bother you other than that you can study, work, eat, learn and be all that you can be because whether your a real person or a fake person you will become the Center of Attention.

Jennifer Harris: One of the better public high schools in Kansas City metro area. High rankings in academics, also offers athletic teams. Facility updated and expanded in the last 5 years. Has a sports stadium also.
