Connect55+ Kansas City | 55 Plus Active Adult Retirement Community in KC: what do users think?
Diane: 6/20/2022 Just to update, the bedbugs are still there in several of the units. Several people have moved in and then either got them from the community rooms and brought them back to their apartments or in some cases were told "the apartment was treated", yet when they moved in they came back. Remember, the leasing agents get a bonus for each apt. they rent so their goal is to get the apt. filled, not watch out for your needs. Also the end of May the manager and activity director left so the only activities are what the residents try to put together themselves.Bedbugs are in several apartments and management is slow to respond. These have been present over 18 months. The activities coordinator often is not around when activities are supposed to take place. When she is present she has a bad attitude towards residents. Not worth the high rent or the 5+ percent it goes up per year.
Bill bauer: Great place to live. Friendly people.Update...5/17/2022No longer a great place to live. My Mom and Dad live here. Their air conditioning went out a week ago and was told by maintenance that he didn't know when it would be fixed. Also their grass hasn't been mowed at all this year. This place seems to have taken a turn for the worst.
Amy Prentzler: Absolutely the worst ever. My poor daughter worker there and was forced to lie to vendors and residents about paying bills and living conditions. It was a nightmare.
Jerry Renner: I have family and a friend who lives there and they are planning to move. These past reviews are true and the management stating it’s not didn’t work there when this happened and wouldn’t know. Today the new apartment manager actually asked in the resident meeting if there were residents who would help give the building a deep cleaning! These are elderly residents paying $1000+ per month to live in this mess. No meals, no real amenities except a few activities in a community room. Oh and the rent goes up 5-6% per year and don’t get me started on the bedbugs
Kelli Schroeder: 2/15/21 In response to the mgmt reply…I didn’t say you move people into an apt with active bugs. I said you do not disclose there are multple apts with bed bugs in the building. People should know there is an issue in the building before moving. Regarding the heat, the person who called was absolutely told that and did not have heat. Taylor was fired shortly after that. . As of 1/10/22 - There are still bedbugs in several units, also a lot of roaches. The property manager kept telling the others they were gone; however, they were not. They called a pest control company and sprayed and they've done a heat treatment on a unit but that woman keeps bringing them back in from sitting in her car that is piled with junk. During the snow and ice a couple weeks ago, the doors to the outside were frozen and would not shut and lock and two older male residents were trying to thaw them out enough to get them securely closed. The third floor also had no heat. They called the emergency number and were told "Taylor (property manager) would take care of it Monday...there was no heat and below zero. As of 8/10/21 there are now two more apartments with bugs. They have not kept up the treatments and tell residents they can’t disclose anything about the locations of them due to the Fair Housing Act and privacy laws”. As of 7/20/21 they have had bed bugs for a year. They hired a place to treat for them; however, they didn't finish because the pest control company wasn't being paid. Now the bugs are in some other apartments as well. Be aware that multiple people have moved in during this year and they did not disclose to the potential tenants that there were bedbugs in the building. Management changes every few months. It’s advertised as smoke free but people are smoking on their decks and management won’t act. They are not good with upkeep. They have lost power twice this year and the generator was not checked as it was supposed to be. It never kicked on so the halls were dark and the elevators wouldn’t run.Part of the scheduled activities never take place and low budget is always the reason.
topanga hilker: Very hard instructions sent me to wrong place twice
Brenda N: Found this place through “A place for mom”. Thought I had found a caring, safe place for my aging parent. Manager (Katie) was super nice until mom signed on the dotted line. Only then did she show her “Cruella Deville” side with her rude, two faced self.Right after Thanksgiving a water pipe burst and flooded not only my Mom’s apartment (ankle high water) but most of the bottom floor. My 76 year old mother and the maintenance man were shoveling water out her back door at 5 A.M. Management didn’t show up until 9:00 in the morning. She then informed my mother that they would put fans in her apartment and she could still stay there. That it should be dry in 3 or 4 days. (It is January 2, 2020 and they are still working on her apartment) After a long drawn out battle with her she relented and gave mom the use of and apartment on the second floor. But, she would have to move her stuff up and back down her by herself. I called the corporate office in New York on 5 separate occasions and left messages within 3 days but, my call was never returned. I called the apartment complex 6 times and my call was not returned. I would never have placed my mother in a hole like this if I knew she was going to be mistreated and bullied by management. Please beware this is not the kind of place it is decorated to be.
Joyce Haffey: My 3 year experience here was like a very long nightmare. Continuous management changes, poor upkeep, Unhealthy living environment, rent increases, and much more.Watch out when you move from this place. They will get you for more $$$
CHristina Hart: View at the summit is right at the crest

Community Apartments at Antioch Crossing: what do users think?
Sharon Pace: I did my apartment tour, filled out the application, and gave the non refundable and refundable deposit. The office manager said the office hours are 9am to5pm Then I was asked to get bank statements and bring them to her.I showed up at 9am then waited until 10:30 then I left.SO unprofessional !Obviously office hours are whenever she decides to show up.
josie biggs: DO NOT LIVE HERE!!! management doesn’t answer phone for maintenance emergencies! The door have gaps underneath them that lets cold air in. Management doesn’t care about you!!!!
Steve Cichon: I was invited on a Friday 10th June to see the apartment and no one showed up for the appointment.I returned on that Monday and saw the unit and left a check to cover the deposit and other fees.Since then I have called 32 times since June 16th and left messages on many of those occasions with no one returning my call. Two weeks ago I talked with an agent who set an appointment for Friday July 8th for the lease signing and July 15th for the date to move in. No one showed up the appointment and no one returned my many calls. As I need to move as soon as possible, I have been forced to find an alternative home. Their mismanagement has left me with no choice but to demand a full refund.
Mendy Hull: This apartment complex does not offer the amenities that are on the website. For over a year apartments have been dealing with bed bugs. There is no management to the facility. It's a dump!
M F: I recently visited a resident. The residents here overwhelming disregard wearing masks. The residents have disregarded signs regarding social distancing and mask suggested by the CDC. Ultimately this is a managerial failure, I've documented several times when the residents violate CDC guidelines. I don't know why this is a problem especially in this type of facility. I'm quite sure there will be consequences, especially if any resident succumbs to the Covid19 virus.
S B: My father lived here for almost 3 years before he passed. He really enjoyed living here and met some great friends. The staff went above and beyond to make him feel at home. I can't say enough about them. I especially want to thank Nancy and Kim in the office who checked in on him regularly and always let him know when they had a dinner planned or activity. My family really appreciates everything they did for him.
Karen Tuzzolino: These are lovely apartments and the residents are great. Unfortunately, the staff, specifically Victoria, created a very hurtful and cold experience. My mother in law lived in these apartments for 3 months prior to being hospitalized and then moved into an assisted living facility. We were not given any option than to keep the apartment for the entire lease, then was rushed out. The whole experience left our family so upset and three days later my mother in law passed away. I can only hope Victoria has someone treating her with kindness, instead of anger and hatred when she loses a family member. However, there is karma. Best wishes! If the owners are reading this please feel free to contact us. This was only the tip of the iceberg.
Andrea Maddy: Would be s great place to live after I retire! Great staff! Great activities!

Kingswood Senior Living Community: what do users think?
Breawnn Jones: Kingswood is a welcoming community with alot to offer both staff and residents with wonderful residents and employees that will make you feel like family, and make your experience fun.
Diane Rhodes: I’ve been at Kingswood a little over a year, and it’s a great place to work, I really enjoy the Dining staff
MrChris Beatty: I've worked here for a year and it's a great place
Cesar Castro: I've been working at Kingswood for almost a year now. One thing I will say is we have a lot of fun. I'll give you an example of the fun we have here. At thee end of last summer my Boss Buddy pulled me out of the kitchen and said "take your apron off and follow me." As we were leaving the building I had noticed we had residents and employees fishing in the pond we have out front. He handed me a pole and said "take a load off and have fun with our residents." So I did, and man o man did I have fun. This is just one example of the many things we have going on here at Kingswood.
Richard Hammett: My wife & I moved to Kingswood just over 5 years ago into independent living in a villa, which is one of their living options. However, we chose it because it offers life care at every stage. Independent, as well as assisted, memory care and health care. This will be our place until we die, with no more late-in-life moves. What has impressed us most, is the quality of life and relationships we have experienced while living here. In our experience, the staff really cares in all areas of management and service to the residents. The daily offering of food choices is superb. We highly recommend this caring community to others.
Greg Bynum: During a search for assisted living options for my mother, I was referred to Christianna Smith at Kingwood Senior Living Community. I had planned to give her a call to set up an appointment, but was driving by the community and decided to stop by and make the appointment. As I entered the independent living entrance a elderly lady was being assisted at the front desk. As I was waiting, a person close by asked me if they could help me. It happened to be Christianna and she said she would be happy to set up an appointment or happy to give me a tour right then, she just need to make sure a resident she was monitoring got back to her apartment. I waited just a few moments and she started the tour by explaining how some of the independent living adjoins the assisted living making the transition from independent to assisted much easier when and if the time comes. At all times she was friendly, happy to answer questions and asked me questions to help evaluate what might be the best option for my mom. I scheduled another tour for the following day so my wife could see the facility and learn more about the independent living. Kelli Bailey joined us on that tour and provided her insight as we discussed my mom's current situation. The knowledge and experience both Christianna and Kelli have provided so much more than a sales pitch on why we should choose Kingswood. They first asked questions about my mom's current condition and why we were looking and provided helpful advice on what we should be looking for. Kingswood would be a great place for my mom, but we decided to place her at a community closer to our family and her friends. I am writing this review because of how Christianna and Kelli were more interested in what was best for my mom versus a sale.
ToriTori: There is a VERY rude, wicked abusive thing named Megan Hollar, horrible person. Fire her!!! I DO NOT recommend taking your loved ones here to be around this low life! She's evil! Keep your loved ones safe and away from her!
Jo Ann Anderson: Years ago the nurses did not understand how a catheter worked or how to drain a catheter. I had to show the head nurse at the time how to drain it. Then they lost my dad when he got up and walked out. They then forced me to sign a discharge for my father because they didn’t want to take care of him. The nurses at this place were more interested with social media and complaining about the work they weren’t attempting to do. I highly recommend Stratford as they actually care about patients and working. The only good thing about this place is the physical therapy team.
Dusty Seifert: I just wanted to take a moment and recognize an exceptional staff member you have.I work for a durable medical equipment company and had the pleasure of meeting and interacting with Ryan today. I'm not sure what his title/position is but he escorted me through your facility as I was picking up some of our equipment. Ryan was very pleasant and helpful. He made my job so much easier by not only escorting me but also by helping me take our equipment from a 3rd floor apartment out to my van. Very few facilities have people willing or able to do this. It saved me a few trips! Please let Ryan know how much I appreciated his help!
Governor McLovin: This place is basically a pyramid scheme because of the way they are treating Mrs Stiner and who knows how many others. Do not set foot here.
Tonya Cain: Give Stiner her money back, poor management and using the elderly! You are now all over the news and have no answers and are doing people wrong! Bad rep is all your doing and 168,000 for a one bedroom???????
Emma Jimenez: Kingswood is a great community, they really take initiative to make this place feel like home. The staff and residents greet each other warmly by name, I really feel like I'm part of the family when I am there.
Lu Peterson: David and I have lived here a year. We were excited to move into our beautiful villa, but we didn't know anyone here. In less than a month we felt like we were a part of this wonderful community. The residents are friendly, amazing individuals, and the staff has kept us safe and happy even during this pandemic. We love the maintenance free life style and the food is great!
spri ght: Kingswood has been a complete blessing for our family. My Mom moved into Memory Care the summer of 2019. It was a sudden move from the family home of 50+ years and left Mom very confused. The staff was wonderful and every single day helped her through what was a difficult transition. In the Fall of '19 we actually moved Mom to a different facility to be close to my Dad. Ultimately - we realized the best thing for both of them was residency at Kingswood AND they both now reside at Kingswood. We could not be happier. We've seen a lot in the past 18 months as we've tried to do the best thing for our parents. Kingswood exceeds expectations across the board.
Armand Aaron: When it became clear that my uncle was not safe living by himself we investigated several senior communities in the KC area. He was reluctant to abandon his home, but we were impressed with Kingswood and convinced him to give it a try. It has been a wonderful choice. He began in assisted living, but it eventually became clear that he needed to be in memory care. We were so happy that we chose a facility with multiple levels of care on the same campus. The facilities are very good and kept clean. Food is good. Most important to us were the staff/people that would be working with and supporting him. He has been treated with respect, kindness, and compassion by everyone. It is clear there is an institutional commitment to helping residents live meaningful and happy lives. I would like to give a special shout out to Karlene in administration, Thomas in dining, Emma in activities, and Chris in nursing. Thank you for your kindness to a much loved uncle!
Janet Graves: My mom has been at Kingswood for almost 6 years. All of the staff that I have dealt with has been very caring! My siblings and I all live out of state. They are always willing to do whatever I have asked to help my mom. we have great peace knowing mom is surrounded by great friends and staff who care about her!
Claudia Burford: Very thankful for this awesome community and the employees that go above and beyond to care for the residents. Thank you Kingswood team for going above and beyond to protect our loved ones during this time.
George Hunt: these people are unresponsive after several attempts for availability.
Mark McIntyre: Good food. Some of the living quarters are comfortable.
Emily Libeer: Would never, never allow a family member to reside at this place.
Rick Sprinkle: Trusted!

Anthology of the Plaza: what do users think?
JimBob Westin: The Therapy Staff here is awesome. I have a friend who lived there and her therapist was always cracking jokes and smiling and made her feel like doing therapy. I think his name was Eric.
Esther Laddin: Management is consistently improving and keeping the residents safe and healthy. This facility is stunning!!!
Susan Walker: The work culture is very unstable.
amaraj johnson: This place is very unprofessional and they treat there employees bad they hire people and let them go and have u get all the information u need keep u waiting jus tell u they can't hire u back they never have help always short staffed I would not work here they also seem like they don't want to hire alot of African Americans
charline franz: Two months ago we moved my brother to assisted living at Anthology on the Plaza from his home of over fifty years. He was resistant and I was anxious. Anthology was brand new with no track record. We soon learned there was nothing to worry about. This is a beautiful, state of the art facility located in a vibrant commercial and cultural part of Kansas City. A review of the monthly activities calendar was enough to assure me that my brother would be fully occupied with an abundance of mind-stretching and body-strengthening exercises designed to meet each resident’s needs. Above all it’s the staff at Anthology that makes this place so special. Not only are they energetic and superbly credentialed but also they are warm, caring people, who are never too busy to stop and chat with a resident or drop by the daily Happy Hour where residents gather with family and friends to tell of their day’s adventures or those of days gone by. It didn’t take long for my brother to settle in and become part of “the gang” as the residents like to call themselves. He has taken the greatest pleasure in decorating his apartment that glows with natural light and views of the Plaza. During my last visit we spent the day careening around Target picking up a few finishing touches (well maybe more than a few). On the way back, as we approached Anthology, he smiled at me and said, “I’m almost home!”

Brookdale Wornall Place: what do users think?
C Jordan: Recommendation over any community in the Kansas City, MO market.
Barbara Walk: Shelby Bosken has been a joy to work with as a sales representative. She is friendly and well versed in the Brookdale Wornall sales process. I highly recommend her for navigating clients through this difficult transition period. Brookdale is also my number one recommendation for family and friends due to their amazing living options. Many thanks to Shelby for her compassion and commitment.
Danny Broihier: Brookdale is an awesome community with an even better staff!
Holli Laddin: Such a beautiful community, a wonderful place with great amenities for residents. Indoor pool, a lot of activities and outstand staff. Highly recommend.
Michael Laddin: Talk about caring - this is the place. Every staff member I encountered was pleasant, helpful and seemed actually happy to see me. The care is also exceptional. Highly qualified staff is their key. Excellent place!!
Tara Johnson: Great environment. Kind staff
Jenny Avery: Such a beautiful community! Warm and inviting staff, great food! Residents are truly happy here!
Dorothy Johnson: Brookdale is great! Not only do we have good housekeeping including laundry; on the ball maintenance; dining room with healthy food selections; but a swimming pool and hot tub with water aerobics classes taught by a certified teacher. We have many classes - exercise, clay, jewelry, etc., the front desk has friendly receptionists at all times. But most of all, I enjoy the games - hand and foot canasta, Mahjongg, poker, bingo, Kings in the Corner, Rummikube, Dominoes, and Pinochle, played with my many new wonderful friends!
Kizzy Camacho: Great place to work or live, and the Staff are welcoming when you walk into the building.
A M Johnson: LOVE the residents!! Great environment, as well as fun!!!
Lisa King: Love my residents! Every year we get better. So proud to work here!
Mariah Mankowski: Great staff and wonderful events for friends and family! Went for Easter and it was so great to see staff and residents so active and involved. Would absolutely recommend!
Jacob Mankowski: Beautiful building and kind, friendly staff!!
Lydia Schuetz: Amazing place with amazing staff! Shelby in particular is fantastic! She is so caring and detail oriented, just what you need when making this important decision. Would recommend to anyone.
Keeton-Parks Construction, LLC.: We do capital improvements and make readies for Senior Living communities all over the country. This place really stood out to our company as being the best in the business! Brookdale as a whole really brings that company-culture that feels like “family.”
Kenneth Baker: My mother-in-law lived at Brookdale from Sept. of 2022 through most of March, and passed away Mar. 24 2023. My father-law is still living there. The staff was a tremendous help and very sympathetic when my mother-in-law became gravely ill. Throughout their stay they have received excellent care and friendly service at all times. They enjoyed all the programs, gatherings and social opportunities provided. Brookdale was and remains a perfect fit. My mother-in-law stated it was one of the best places she ever lived.
Diedra Bell: looking for a place for my mom and was referred to this senior living community and I must say I am impressed this would be so ideal for any senior so many nice amenities hoping to get her to say yes! fingers crossed :)
Randy Allen: Brookdale Wornall have great staff and have a true passion for residents. They always make sure residents are cared for and safe.
Megan Spohrer: It was a real push to get my mother to agree to move out of her unwieldy house into an apartment where she had the extra support of great meals, regular cleaning services, and lots of social activities. A few months later she was telling people it was her favorite place she ever lived. Sadly, she passed recently. But the staff and residents have been super supportive to my dad. The routine of meal times, movie night, and other activities give him extra social support he wouldn't have had being alone in their old house. The staff has bent over backwards to accommodate his needs. My siblings are all so grateful to know he's in a great place that suits his physical and social needs right now.
Rodney Miller: Brookdale Wornall is always kept clean and smells good. Staff is friendly, and the people look happy. I would definitely recommend seniors to move there.
Erica Wright: Wornall Place always have great activities and the residents always look happy!

Armour Oaks Senior Living Community: what do users think?
Diane Good: Parts of this community are progressive and positive. Independent and Assisted Living areas are well recommended. However, my mother went there for rehab. She was placed in the skilled nursing unit where she was behind locked doors. At that point she was basically helpless, unable to move her arms and legs without help. She was only there from Friday afternoon until Monday morning, when she was taken into the hospital following an extremely traumatic event that happened to her in the skilled nursing area. We were not able to document what happened, although I did witness part of it, so there was no way to pursue action against Armour Oaks other than to file a complaint with the state. As the state investigator said, "There is no 'smoking gun'." They simply recorded what I had seen, but were unable to talk to my mother due to her trauma. The state interviewed the staff, but because those who knew what happened and might tell what they knew, also knew that doing so would probably cost them their jobs. Technically, Armour Oaks skilled nursing was not in violation of regulations, so they were not cited. However, because they were not technically cited, they were able to continue on as if nothing had happened. Be advised. I was there with my mother for most of the time she was there. I feel sorry for people dumped there for months with no advocate. If this happened on my watch, it can happen with your lived one, too.
Joevita George: Rude staffs, unorganized. Unsanitary.
M Bodine: My friend's mom is very happy living there.
Valencia Murphy: I thought this would have been a nice place for my dad. I completed the application, then had to turn in the back up. Once that was done, it was one thing after another. Someone was sick, someone was on vacation, then the same person was sick. I had to request a decision had to be made in place of this person, however, I made it for them, and didn't put my dad there. It's hard enough that you have to make the decision to place your love ones in a facility, but when they make it even harder, it makes you wonder.I wish those of you the best of luck, this process is very difficult for me and my brother. It's not something that our family would normally do. I found that a lot of people in the industry is very short. They don't really know how to explain the process.
Jason Robinson: There are emergency vehicles constantly blaring their sirens at the gate at all hours of the day. It is very distracting to the neighbors. You would think they would have a better system. Some sort of intercom or something. I called to express my grievance and leave a suggestion, but the person at the front desk was very rude and dismissive. I would never recommend any of my family or loved ones live there.
RealRobby GP: Horrible place I wouldn't let my parents live there the food is horrible they don't cook it all the way bed bugs flees and they smoke in the building the head directer is rude and if u would want your parents to die early this is they place for them a death trap
Frits Lay: This place is a bed bug infested palace. Super dirty and care is very poor. This place has drama like the Jerry Springer show, they so crooked they can hide in a shadow of a cork screw. The place stinks of cigars and cigarettes cause management smoke in the building. The 5 stars is a lie. This place could be better if big changes are made especially with management.
Michael J. Dijak: Wanted to give a special shout out to Clinical Coordinator Tina Benson who went above & beyond her job description to help secure the necessary cremation authorization paperwork for the bereaved family of a former resident of Armour Oaks. Ms. Benson went out of her way to contact this resident’s doctor personally on his cell phone in order to help expedite the process, which in turn allowed us (the crematory) enough time to accommodate the family’s memorial service wishes. The medical field could use needs more caring & compassionate people like her. Keep up the good work, Tina!
Mary Ramsay: I am a very happy resident of Armour Oaks. No one has asked me, or put me up to write this review. The food is excellent with a decent variety. The “Coloring Class” is a lot of fun! We also play Monopoly (an old favorite of mine), and those of us who wish to get together for Posi-Talk, which is just what it sounds like: a time to share the happy, meaningful and satisfying things in our lives. The staff in the dining room is attentive, and immediately gets the things we may ask for.(Ketchup, for instance). I greatly enjoy conversation with my “table-mates” and the food is very good. We have salads with lunch and (I’m pretty sure) dinner, and great desserts.A vegetarian can manage, and it is also possible to order from an alternative menu, (I’m pretty sure.)The daily menu is a little heavy on meat for my taste, but it seems that everyone (including me) appreciates how nicely cooked and served it is.I hope that if you are looking for a nice Assisted Living, you check it out. I believe there is a waiting list, and you may need to get on the list awhile you intend to move.
BelloYello Pink: Came To Work Here Through Agency Awful.. IDK Who Gave These 5 Star Ratings A LIE... Outdated & Old & VERY Unclean
kevin beck: my mom has been here in the skilled nursing rehab with very good care. the facility is more being in a first claa hotel. They also have efficiency assisted living units very nice. It also has the neoclassical build beautiful entry empire furniture in entry hall, screened sitting porchs with 12 foot ceilings. They have a on site Styling salon serving the community, moms hair never looked better. i was looking at the mens cuts- very good. -. they also have duplex units complete with 2 bedrooms, kitchen, dining rooms and fire places. each unit has large private patios for family get together s. They have a new assisted living apartment building with the neoclassical colonial design just opened Just excellent. I believe 2 bedrooms, kitchens, dining rooms, again large rooms all with 12 foot ceilings, crown moldings first class fixtures carpeting, very homey indeed. The grounds are fine. The acres are reminiscent of an English country estate complete with the large wrought iron fencing ans gates. The main dining room again neoclassical columns hardwood floors- fine dining and also the food is a cut above the average fair. The location of Aurmor oaks is great. Two blocks from a grocery store, walking distance to taco bell mcdonalds, subway and Chinese takeout, Greek resturant. but even better 7 min by car to the wardparkway shopping mall complete with indoor shopping, 10 theater complex, attached target store and the gem TRADER JOES, also old navey, shoe stores, star bucks, fountains ect. etc. 4 minutes to the north waldo, with all kinds of restaurants. then 12 min to the country club plaza and the nelson atkins museum of art. The medical staffing very good and the balance also nice folks, from security to cleaning.- if looking for a nice place- that does NOT seem like your in some medical place but a good English home or getaway- this would be your place

Mark Johnson: Cannot believe what goes on here with employees. The chef cooks like a 15 year old kid from Arby’s and the female manager calls residents names when she is intoxicated. I didn’t believe it but was visiting with my mother and I witnessed it myself. Place is gorgeous but overpriced and managers are ridiculous.
Sherri Stryker: Riverstone Resort Retirement is Senior Advisors "Best Senior Living in Kansas"Living here and working here at Riverstone I can verify that it is the best. Riverstone is beautiful and friendly. The team is loving and caring. Riverstone is always Welcoming
Erin Stangel: I live in TN and was able to visit Riverstone along with my sister from CA and sister from there in KS City. It was so much fun getting to stay with them in a beautiful apartment onsite while enjoying our visit with Dad. I was very impressed with the quality of life my dad has at Riverstone. Visiting as a family was made so enjoyable by an incredibly comfortable and caring atmosphere. We spent time in the gym, playing billiards, having wonderful meals, and even getting to know my dad's neighbors. The staff are so personable, and it was wonderful getting to know them, too. It's a great feeling to have such peace of mind about your loved one. I cant wait to return for my next visit.
Kristy Hennessey: Riverstone is amazing! My Dad moved in last April and we continue to be impressed by the management (Brent and Cindilee) and their dedicated team. Such loving and personalized service! The breakfasts are amazing! Made to order right down to the turkey sausage! Beautiful Sunday brunch! Always fresh veggies and fruits at the salad bar. Fine dining too! Housekeeping and Maintenance are always on the ball! Activities galore! There is a wonderful movie theatre with top notch movies as well as special sporting and religious screenings. They also have an apartment on site that can be rented for 1/2 the cost of a hotel for visiting family members. The residents are wonderful too! Such a homey and comfortable environment while still being modern. And the Interim Care staff are angels! The holiday decorations are just incredible and the residents decorate and personalize their porches. And the coffee! Yum! I could go on! I live in California and have such peace of mind knowing that my Dad is well cared for. Thank you Riverstone! On behalf of my family, we LOVE you!
Kelly Estes: My mother lived at Riverstone for 4 years ( my father-in-law also) and we could not have ask for a more caring group of people. The amenities and facility are truly resort living. The new managers, food and other resent improvements have definitely brought it back and above the high standards that residents had grown accustom to.
Rene Weese: My dad has been there for 5 months. I am continually amazed and blessed at the personal interest these people take in each resident. I am talking from management to wait staff, house cleaning, maintenance, activities director, interim nursing and home health care...each and every person at one time or another has gone ABOVE just doing a good job, to help my family feel confident that he is not only well cared for, but cared ABOUT! We LOVE you guys! It would take WAY too long to list all the little but big things that each person has done for my dad that are NOT in any kind of contract, but in their hearts. Lyle, Kathy, Bailey, CiCi,Brent and Cyndi Lee, Rachel, Mary Pat,Jennifer, Rachel,Lanita, you all have given MY family a sense of peace by treating m our dad as your family.
Kathryn Webb: Truly a wonderful place to live!!! Staff is dedicated to serving the residents! Residents are friendly and happy to meet new people! After visiting 8+ retirement communities in the KC metro area, we overwhelmingly chose Riverstone! Great apartments, activities, food, staff, and environment. The new managers Brent and Cyndilee are wonderful! They go out of their way to accommodate residents, guests, and staff. Some of the reviews on this site are OLD and DO NOT reflect the current situation at Riverstone!
musjim: My Aunt has lived here for several years. When she first moved in, the place was great. It is well maintained but very understaffed. The big problem is the food. Unfortunately, that is the most important thing. Last time I was there, she was served undercooked salmon and asparagus wrapped in uncooked bacon. (I have pictures). As a result, many people are leaving and they have a lot of vacancies.
Grandmaof7: I visited Riverstone with my sister and was immediately greeted at the front door with a smile and hello from the people behind the front desk. Going around the building (which was absolutely breathtaking) I had a wonderful tour and was greeted by very happy residents and staff was very nice. We ended up going with another place closer to where her children live but would have chosen Riverstone in a heart beat if the building would have been closer to the area we wanted. I will definitely be recommending Riverstone to my friends and family.
My Name: 100% agree with M Truvill --The current manager, Roger has no self control. When a new resident needed assistance with the TV remote control, Roger complained that he had to turn the channel on the TV. He said, I have to change the channel on the TV for 2 Old Guys, I have a college degree. Then when on the phone with a new resident, the female resident was falling and her husband hung up the phone with Roger to catch her. Roger stormed over to their apartment and scolded the resident with Don't ever hang up the phone on me again . They moved out 2 weeks later.Instead of using M Truvill's review to look at the issues and maybe solve some of the problems, at the monthly managers meeting Roger scolded the tenants for leaving a bad review. He is a bully and has no concept of what "Customer Service" means or even who the customer is .And forget about calling the resident hotline, they won't call you back and have not addressed any of the concerns the residents have expressed. There are over 20 apartments that will be empty in the next few months because of these managers and the changes to the services and offerings at Riverstone.
M Truvill: My parents moved in Riverstone 4 years ago and it has been a great place for them to live and for us to visit up until the current managers came on board. As you can see the great reviews were all from the past here on Google. The new managers (husband and wife team) treat the elderly residents with disrespect and are very rude. Roger (the man manager) told one long time resident to shut up during a resident meeting when he stood up for another resident who was voicing her displeasure on the many cost-cutting changes they were making. He even went so far to tell this resident (who is very sweet and well liked) he was no longer welcome to come to the resident meetings! They speak to the resident's in a scolding manner when they voice their feedback. They have gone so far as to tell residents that they can submit items in advance for the resident meeting agenda's but they will decide what they will and won't talk about. They have cut out many of the items that were once offered and advertised as part of the price, such as soda's, grab and go snacks have been greatly reduced in quantity, juice (replaced with sugar free juice water because "it's healthier"- heck they have lived this long, I don't think the company should dictate what they can have!). Won't allow residents to take food back to their rooms, no longer have a Sunday Brunch buffet because there could be food wasted by allowing residents to serve themselves, etc. all to save money while the managers take a company trip to Cabo because they cut costs. This is what is advertised on the Riverstone website: Residents enjoy the variety and choice found in an industry-first all-inclusive Freedom Style Dining and Resort Style Dining Program. Dishes can be made-to-order, taken to-go, or served up restaurant-style in the dining room, where residents can enjoy the company of family and friends. Coffee, juice, ice cream and snacks are available all day. FALSE!The place is also getting a bit run down. They let go the maintenance man and the manager is now doing maintenance. Water spots in ceilings that are dripping water are not being addressed or fixed. The carpet was supposed to be replaced on main street some time back and it still has not been done. They are trying to get by with the least amount of expense possible and unfortunately the residents who are spending a LOT to stay there are paying the price.Residents have written letters to corporate and nothing is being done. Many residents have decided to move to a new facility that is opening up nearby because of this couple and their ridiculous rules, cost-cutting measures and behavior. They have even told residents to move if they don't like the things they have done. Clearly, they don't understand the principle of customer satisfaction or that it takes twice the effort to get a new customer than it does to keep a current customer. The only saving grace to this place is some long-tenured staff who are truly outstanding like the concierges Tom, Rachel, and many of the dining staff. They have also lost some great staff members because of these managers and the current chef. The corporate office needs to change out these managers ASAP and restore Riverstone to the way it used to be!**Update 7/1/19 - I called the resident hotline as was requested by corporate headquarters in response to my review since they indicated they take Resident satisfaction SERIOUSLY and they never called back. Again, this is another example of earlier comment that residents have called and written to corporate with no response.
Joe Passantino: Local firefighter and home care business owner of Preferred Care at Home of Greater Kansas City MO..... I have experience that Riverstone by far stands out and is First in its class from cleanliness, compassionate faculty and has a variety of amenities of any senior facility in the area.
Linda Canida: My parents moved here from Sun City West due to aging health issues. The facility is maintained well and serves good meals. It has several apartment options with monthly rental. (Residence are not required to buy in as required at many retirement facilities.) The residence can hire bonded nursing care if needed. Interim nursing care is on-site with comparable rates to other services. There are many activities for the residence. There is a workout room, an auditorium where movies and special events are held, there is a pool table, library, and conversation and meeting rooms for larger groups. There is a bus available for scheduled shopping and doctor appointments in the area. We have been very pleased with the facility and my parents contented to be there. The one draw back is that even though ownership hasn't changed, the on site managers have changed frequently over the last six years, so there is a lack of continuity in that area.
Loretta Stiens: DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONES HERE!As far as places go, ok! But relative targeted by scam. Riverstone did everything they could to block us from getting control and stopping it. Sided with slimy lawyer. Also girl who worked there somehow got herself in my relatives will!
Cat Heisler: One of the neat things about Riverstone is their presence in the KC community. They take an active interest the doings outside their front door. I appreciate Riverstone's willingness to promote local businesses. Thanks Riverstone! I'm glad you're a member of our Chamber of Commerce.
David King: Mom has been a resident since last October. She is really enjoying herself. Riverstone is like living at a "5" Star hotel. The amenities are great and the staff is wonderful. I would highly recommend Riverstone.
Cindy Blinn: My Mom's favorite assessment of Riverstone is it's the next best thing to her home. She has been at Riverstone for almost 3 years and is very pleased with her apartment, the great staff, and most of all the friends she has made there over the years. It is truly a family oriented facility. I always feel that I'm welcome anytime and never have to make an appointment to talk with staff or take part in activities.
Donna Roath: We are so happy to have found Riverstone for my mom. The apartments are lovely and the staff is extremely friendly and - especially - caring. Mom has been a resident for almost five years and she can't imagine living anywhere else. We lovingly call it the "Cruise Ship" because of the luxurious surroundings and wonderful amenities.
Jeff Ralls: Riverstone is beautiful, open with plenty of light. It is not a dark and dingy, like most of the places we looked at for our Mother. The staff is extremely friendly. When my Dad passed away one of his caregivers was like our family and was with him the day he died. She was a true comfort for him in his last minutes. I can't say enough good things about Riverstone.
Tricia Melton: This beautiful, luxurious resort-style retirement community is just perfect for my mom! With delicious food and weekly housekeeping, she gets the assistance she needs while still maintaining an independent lifestyle. A very friendly staff, lots of activities and great residents make it a perfect fit!
Polly Bromert: After searching the northern Kansas City area extensively, as well as surrounding communities, we decided on Riverstone and it's the best choice we could have made for my father! Whether from the city or country, Riverstone makes everyone feel welcome. There are activities for all tastes and speaking of tastes, the dining experience is very good. They try to cater to any dining situation, those who live to be served, those who prefer to serve themselves, or sandwiches and snacks available anytime. The apartments are larger than many other facilities. Compared to other similar communities in the KC area, Riverstone's cost is right in line but the feel is that of luxury. We recommend Riverstone highly!

The Residences at Park Place: what do users think?
Diane Young: Timely response to any requests for maintenance. Friendly and helpful staff throughout the property.
jay chavez: We have lived at the Residences at Park Place since 20215 and it has been and enjoyable place to live.Office staff is great and friendly. Walking distance to retail and restaurants and more.No complaints here.
Keith Saxon: The Residence at Park Place is extremely well managed and maintained. I have placed several requests for service, information and logistical assistance which have been promptly, efficiently, and completely addressed. It is wonderful to live in a place that fosters a friendly community and such a clean environment. I am a fan.
Douglas Mufuka: Move in experience was excellent receiving email checklist made it easy to register for utilities. At check in kelly was helpful and organized with everything we needed from key fobs and parking passes to local amenity info and more
Leslie Cusic: The Park Place community is the safest and most beautiful home we have lived in. The area is so quiet at night and we have taken such peaceful walks in the evening. Residents are very nice and animal friendly. This is a great community!
Leo Pacino: Very nice and safe area
Mohamad Abou Khalil: Never had an apartment that felt like home, now I do. Beautiful neighborhood and within reach of everything. Food that ranges from fast food to fine dining, clothing, entertainment areas and more. Walking my dog is finally something I look forward to every day. Love it
Charles Moore: From the amenities to the staff this place is better than I ever could’ve imagined. With the shopping and food that’s in walking distance, to the ease of dog ownership this place gets close to being an oasis.P.S. After reading other reviews I would like to personally say that I didn’t get a single thing for this review. (All genuine experience)Just like anything in life there is room for improvement. Idk about the past but since the process of us considering this place to signing our lease to the past year and a half. The staff has always been willing to help with anything no matter what.(and we have had some interesting problems since moving in) I mean look at the reviews this place as responded to almost every review that has been placed willing to help.We have never had issues with noise and if we did hear things we have to remind ourselves that. THIS IS AN APARTMENT you will occasionally hear steps or neighbors dropping something, but we have never experienced the levels of noise inside or outside that others speak of.I type all of this to say, you will regret letting someone who lacked empathy and patience for how hard it is to perform maintenance, or someone who lived here years ago who hasn’t experience the amazing team that works here now, stop you from living in an amazing place like this.
Eileen ONeill: I moved in a few weeks ago and love it. I have met many neighbors in the halls, elevator, parking garage etc and all have been very friendly and welcoming. Management has been very responsive to my requests and I am pleased with how quiet the building is from inside my unit. I don't hear neighbors at all. Great so far
Paul Jones: We just love it here. The neighbors are so friendly and the neighborhood is wonderful. The staff, especially Kelly and Sarah, are great and so helpful. We had a couple of minor maintenance issues and they sent someone who fixed them right away. Couldn't recommend it more highly. Oh, and Oliver our dog loves it here too.
Calix Rodriguez: This place was the worst apartment community we ever lived at. From the residents to the management. EVERYONE acted like they were the S#!+ especially management. We were given a prize for a good review, they will give you royals tickets even restaurant gift cards for a good review. That’s how desperate they are. Rent was raised after a year, packages, and even cars were constantly being broken into even tho it is a “secured property”. We had a patio and it constantly leaked a brown resin substance and they never fixed the issue. There is so much more you can get at a much better price if you do your research. This is NOT the place and you’ll regret you’re decision once it’s too late.
Hira Mohibullah: This is an incredibly prime location. I love that the community is walkable and that there are stores and restaurants close by. The neighbors are friendly, the admin is extremely helpful (shout out to Sarah!) and the apartment is neat and has all the required amenities (great views outside the windows too!)
Neil Brown: Great place. I enjoyed the onboarding and application process. It is all online. The location is great and easy to get to work and easy to get to shopping centers. Highly recommend this place if you are looking for a comfortable upscale location
Cathy Loudon: I moved in the middle of March and everyone I've come across has been very friendly. I'm really enjoying the community! I appreciate the "dog-friendly" atmosphere and was thankful to find dog walkers available through the concierge service.
Tanner Rosenthal: First and foremost, please take the 5 star reviews with a grain of salt. They entice residents into giving these great reviews by entering these people into a raffle with an opportunity to win a small gift. The review - more bad than good (especially for the price)Good:• Great location and access to everything you could need• Maintenance Staff are the best people here and always very helpful along with a great attitude• Great landscaping and good views (credit to maintenance)• Quiet & safe community• Nice & new appliances (including gas stove & fireplace in the lofts)Bad:• The rent was raised to $2,178 from $1,625 after a single year for a1,000 sq ft apartment… (this rent is the equivalent of a mortgage for a 3,000+ sq ft, 3+ BD home)• Prior to moving in, we were misled into a “special”, the leasing agent told us we would receive the first 3 months free for a 15 month lease. Once we signed, the agent told us we wouldn’t be able to use this “special” in consecutive months and that it would have to be spread out across the lease. After holding this agent accountable, they offered us only the first 2 months free. Not a big issue but the leasing staff lacks transparency and trust.• Relatively small gym for all the large population of people who live here. There is a single gym for weight lifting for the 4 apartment buildings within the complex (approx. 300+ units). The gym is maybe 700 sq ft with very limited equipment. Max occupancy is maybe 2 to 3 people at a time, if lifting weights. So, a separate gym membership is recommended unfortunately.• Pool is also very small for this large of a complex – it is also shared by all 4 apartment buildings. Pool is usually filled with children who throw rocks into the pool consistently.• As mentioned in many previous reviews, the walls are very thin and you can hear your neighbors conversations along with their day to day activities. It is normal to be able to hear their TV very clearly when trying to sleep at night. As a matter of fact, we received a complaint from the people below us for “walking too much throughout the day”, “cleaning too loudly”, “moving chairs too often” and letting our dog “walk around throughout the day and play”. So, if you don’t clean your apartment often, sit still for long hours, and keep your pets in a cage all day then you should be good… Instead of directing these complaints to the developer and owner, they will blame you and make you feel guilty for your normal living activities.• There is no storage space in the unit or on the balcony. This is common tactic used by apartment complexes to force you into renting a small storage space (6x9 or less) for $60-80 a month.• This is a subjective con, but most of the people who live here are 50+ years old or are in the retirement stage of their life. So, this creates limited options in meeting new people your age if you are a young professional like myself.Considering the overwhelming amount of cons vs. pros, I highly recommend looking else where due to the large volume of new complexes being built around the area with 30 – 50% lower rent for the same amount of space and amenities.
Dustin Howard (dho1522): We absolutely love it here. The community is amazing, the staff is wonderful and the surrounding area has so much to do. We highly recommend living here
Madison Mclawhon Marie-Mclawhom: The secured entry, garage parking, beautifully kept grounds, along with amenities such as pool, gym, package service, and free gift wrap facilities make living here a real joy. We love the many attractions right out our back door at Park Place, all within walking distance. The leasing and maintenance staff have been friendly and efficient!
Jason Mcclure: The neighborhood is lovely and the maintenance staff is the best I have ever seen. Can't wait to enjoy the Autumn in our new apartment. Great community!
dizened Fraser: It all makes perfect sense now, they were giving away free AirPods when you sign up. That’s because of their paper thin walls, you have to leave here 24 hours a day to block out the noise, what a bummer, great location.
Astrit Dudaj: Great Location, but if anybody lives over you, you’re gonna hear every single thing they do, I don’t think I’ve felt peaceful one night since I moved here. With a 12′ ceiling, and still can hear what that person is doing above, I can’t even go up and complain because all they're doing is walking. So the review is going to be directed at the developer.Do everyone a favor, Get another job.
Preeth Kala Nikhil: Leawood Park Place is the most beautiful apartment I have ever seen so far in the United States. I just love my stay here. It's a delight to walk around watching the various shopping options and the best is to see small children and cute pets play in the park. Being a resident, I am so privileged to be a part of this Community, and Moving in here is one of the best decision I have ever made so far !! Right from the private theatre room, gym, swimming pool, weekend events, the entertainment is unlimited !! Though I stay alone, they never kept me lonely :)

Senior Star at Villa Ventura: what do users think?
Jeffrey Nelson: I am a former employee of Villa Ventura. I worked from 5-3-07, to 7-29-21, and from November 1st of 2022, to the end of January of 2023. I enjoyed what I did, and bent over backwards for them. Even spending the night in the winter, due to inclement weather. Villa Ventura paid great, home away from home. I am sad not to work there anymore. I visit periodically. My parents didn't want me there anymore, and I had to quit, not my choice-theres!there's!! I will love senior star and Villa Ventura, forever... Great food, great place overall.
don spears: I recently had to find a place for my mom and found a wonderful location and facility in Villa Ventura. Wendy Brown was so much help and so caring during this tough time. She went above and beyond to make my mom feel right at home with her new home. She took a personal interest in my mom which made her feel so much at home as well as have all the staff. She also made me feel very comfortable as well with this transition. Ron Braun of Care Patrol in Raymore Missouri helped make all this happen, he worked diligently to find just the right spot. I am so thankful for finding this great place. Thank you all for all you do !!!
Cathleen O'Donnell: Villa Ventura feels like home, and it was for my mom for nearly 6 years. From her/our initial visit and throughout her time at VV, the staff made certain to address every need, to answer every question, and to assure us that we were part of the "VV family." Could not want for more.
BelloYello Pink: I See They Had My Review Removed.. Working There AS a CNA Is Horrible Have You Doing Multiple Ppls Job Titles Witout The Pay.. Horrible Place 2 Wrk.. Your A CNA, Dietary " Set Tables & Serve Food & Bus The Tables, Housekeeping Cause You'll Do Laundry & Clean... Team To Much Imma See If I Can If My Old Review
Bob Carma: I have lived at Villa Ventura for 13 1/2 years. I enjoy the activities that the staff plans especially bingo, bunco and guest who come to entertain us. Field trips vary. We are served tasty and nutritious meals and I am so happy that I don't have to clean or cook. The staff is always pleasant and helpful. What a great place to live!! Dorothy King.
Jenny Loudenback: My loved one has been a resident at Villa Ventura for over a year. During that time, we visit 4-5 times a week, so we have seen every possible activity, eaten many meals, and dealt with maintenance and housekeeping departments also. I can’t possibly recommend Villa Ventura highly enough. The food is outstanding, and if you don’t like what is on the menu that meal, there is always an “anytime menu” that is available, which has things like grilled cheese, hamburger, or hot dogs. There is never a time when there isn’t something good to eat. And the waitstaff quickly learns the preferences of each resident (our loved one wants her water without ice, and they bring it to her as soon as she sits down). Housekeeping and maintenance are extremely good and helpful! The front desk staff, especially Mark, are super knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. But our highest praise goes to Heather and Stasha, who are the activity directors. These two women are constantly smiling, helping residents, and planning a full day of activities every day. Whether it’s bingo, the weekly Thursday outside entertainment that comes in, the storyteller that comes in with an hour of info about an actor or musician, or the dozens of other weekly activities that they arrange for the residents, they are the absolute best. We are also clients of Interim, the in-house aides that are available to residents that needs additional care, and they are also amazing. We feel extremely fortunate that we found Villa Ventura for the care of our loved one.
David Hudson: A perfect example of a good business plan. If you treat your employees with respect and trust them, they will treat your customers with respect and kindness. Many employees are long term which confirms this is a good [lace to work. We are VERY satisfied with the care provided to our mother.
David Barry: Mostly frozen and cheaply produced meals ,staff appears to be concerneed, helpful and courteous. Low air exchange in the studios..Not recommended.
Patricia Curtis: From the moment my mom considered Villa Ventura, our family experience has been top notch. The staff is caring. There is little staff turnover. And the food is top quality!! Mom couldn't be more at home.
j lee: I worked there when open not that long 1 floor res care alot of bs staff wise but residents unless its changed had to be able to care for themselfves if asst living they didnt even has nurse aides just cmt or l1ma it was awful i hope they improved
Linda Sprague: My mother stayed there for 15 months, but some residents have been there for 10 years or longer. Many employees are the same. Their staff is very accommodating and sincerely concerned for their residents. They were always prompt with all our requests, professional in what they did, and very attentive to security and safety. There is access to cable in the common areas and computers on the internet in the Pub. Apts have access to cable but have to start their own account. There is a beauty shop open Wed-Sat. By appointment. For pay. There is a pub, a lobby, exercise room, a big screen room, private dining room for special occasions, laundry rooms on every floor, elevators, chapel, and beautiful garden courtyard. They even have their own chef who personally meets all the residents and has a counsel of residents that help suggest dinners. There are activities posted each day and usually a couple of outings provided by a company shuttle each week.My mom suffers from Alzheimer's and as her disease has progressed, she is in need of 24/7 nursing care. Villa Ventura works with a Home Healthcare Company to provide a means for residents to have daily/weekly care. Their setup is not conducive to 24/7 nursing care which is where my mom is now.An aging person with medical issues will probably go through 3-4 levels of care. Not all care facilities can provide everything, or if they do, it's in different units. Independent - Level 1 and Assisted Living Level 2 are what Villa Ventura specializes in. And they are good at it.They have reputable companies they partner with that can help anywhere from packing and moving to helping you with "downsizing" your current home. Mother loved her stay there and they loved her. She always met a smiling face.
Don Davidson: I have been here 5 years and have been treated very good
Joshua Hill: Villa Ventura is wonderful. They care and are go the extra often. Highly recommend if you have aging parents.
