Kansas City Center for Anxiety Treatment (KCCAT): what do users think?
Jordan Haskins: I can’t say enough good things about KCCAT. My son is a completely different kid after going through therapy here. So very grateful for this place and his therapist 3
Lee Ann Galkowski: $6K for less than two weeks of "treatment". I think this is a huge money raker inner for someone.
vickie thornton: I would give no stars if I could. In my opinion this place is a scam. They absolutely know nothing about autism and how to treat anxiety in autistic kids. They kept asking for more and more money so watch yourself when they start that. Therapist came to a school meeting and told the staff that they would come back to help train the TA's on how to implement their "plan" and then on the scheduled day, when all the staff was ready, they never showed up and said they never said they would do that. There were 14 people in that meeting that all heard them say the same thing. Then when we fired them they had the nerve to contact our child's therapist and bad talk us. The therapist could not believe how unprofessional they are. The therapists at KCCAT all seemed to be right out of college and very inexperienced. Save your money and go somewhere else. As the parent of an autistic child we often fall prey to charlatans and snake oil salesmen. I chalk this up as one of those I fell for. They got me for $1500. Don't let them get you.
Lisa Culliton: Please do not take your child to this place. As a provider, I feel uncomfortable sending anyone here. They collect almost $400 up front (for an “assessment” ) and have incredibly incompetent counselors….it’s unfortunate that they prey on people in need of care. If anyone would like additional information , contact me through social media and I will relay you the information-
Diana Newman: Worked great for my daughter’s needle phobia and stinging insect aversion. Would highly recommend it.
James Ritter: We paid $500 for them to give us false information about our kid. It doesn't matter what the real problems are; they simply tell everyone that they need to be treated for OCD. They have 1 treatment plan so that's what you get. They don't listen to anything you say, you just get the canned treatment plan they give to everyone. The small number of positive reviews of this place are fake surly fake reviews.
Lindsey Tyler: Terrible. Extremely expensive. Did nothing for me. I did all the homework requested outside of therapy and still did not work. They see medication and antidepressants as a bad thing when it’s the only thing that’s helped me. Do not get treAtment here. Find a therapist who accepts your insuranc. Rebecca Kaiser is excellent and accepts most insurances I believe, $10 copay and she is so helpful.
A P: nathan will destroy family relations and refuse to respect boundaries. he'll even belittle you as a burden to your family for just having a mental illness.
Sharon R: This is absolutely the best place for treatment for anxiety. These professionals truly understand the disease and how to treat it. It's so hard to find a good therapist. The most important thing is to find someone to whom you can relate well. Their understanding of what you're going through makes all the difference in developing a good working relationship.
Holly Hatton: Helped my son with OCD issues. He is now getting ready to graduate from college.
Carizard: Extremely greedy...they have no sense of compassion and if you get sick with something that could infect other people in the office area? Well too bad for them you have to go even if you are throwing up all over the place or have strep because they will take alllllll your money no matter what the cost, their treatment does not help and the therapists are very unprofessional, making sexual jokes and political jokes as well as not even caring to take calls if something is wrong. Beyond disgusted.
Proof of Life: Took my money was told to wait for evaluation results over a year ago had me send in other results I had and never got a refund or heard from them again. Poor job on leaving someone with high anxiety waiting and never return a call or give a refund for not doing what you are paid for.
Peter W: Dr. Ashley completely changed my life. She allowed me to feel safe and I never once felt judged. I am so thankful I found this group and especially in Kansas City. This was by far the most effective therapy I have ever had and I never felt like they kept me in therapy to simply have me continue generating revenue. Thank you so much for everything Dr. Ashley! I will have these tools to take with me forever.Ps... Don't let the one star review dissuade you from trying this group. Having anxiety, seeing that review made me very nervous coming in for my first appointment. I promise you my experience was better than anything else I have ever experienced in therapy throughout my entire life. I honestly do not know what I would have done if I did not find this place. I have been to three other regular "talk" therapists and the several sessions I had with them could not even compare to one session I had with Ashley.

Lilac Center - North Kansas City: what do users think?
Chris Stout: Watch out for this place when it comes to billing!! Random bill shows up year+ after services rendered.. as someone with 3 insurances I have never gotten a bill from them until long after services. They don’t respond to communication about billing either.
Melanie King: Worst mistake I ever made. So much so that I cannot even put it into words properly. In the middle of IOP there was a huge switch up. Changing of counselors/instructors. Mixed information/instructions on who to contact. This caused a great deal of problems. Accusations of harassment. My counselor not being trained enough that they quit as soon as they started. So there was no consistent counseling. Now to the biggest problems. I DO NOT drive far distances or on the highway. I was told my skills class would be in mission. Starting at 6 pm. I told them I would attempt it and see how it goes. Getting done work on time and driving out to mission from nkc during rush hr did not go well. Kept having panic attacks and by the time I would come down it was time to drive home. More accusations instead listening to me. Spoke to two counselors since and both said that it was wrong for them to try and force me to drive out there. Puts my life and others at risk. Another, the billing. I received my first bill on March 24th. Made a payment. The next week made a payment. On the third week I was given a piece of paper, that wasn’t even cut even, letting me know that due to my balance I could no longer attend until it was payment or arrangements were made. Not even 30 days due. They also gave that to me on a weds evening. Oh, and after class. Get that money!! Trying to get in touch with anyone is impossible to discuss anything with. Lastly, watch what you sign when you get discharged. For some reason I was listed for drug and alcohol abuse, which I was there for other abuses. Whelp, now all of a sudden I am untrustworthy!! Been on the same meds for years. Now I am treated like an addict. Thanks for all of the great help and guidance! You really did a bang up job. You best believe I filed a complaint with my insurance company and have been working on how to file with the state.
Shannon McDonald: Lilac N KC has been a true blessing to my daughter, myself, and my family as a whole. We have learned so much in our time with them and continue to do so. On top of the great group therapy sessions, we have also found a wonderful therapist for my teenage daughter. It took a long while to find someone that she trusted and connected with and she has 100% found that here at Lilac. My only regret is I wish we had found the center/home sooner. In my daughters words, "I would recommend Lilac 10 out of 10 times!"
Angela McElfish: Very unprofessional made appointment, did all the work and on day of appointment they failed us no appointment link until 15 min before appointment just to be told my child is to young to be seen there. Do not recommend.
Ian Connelly: My experience at your business was literally the worst therapy I've ever had. It was a bunch of white/affluent women telling each other it's okay to act poorly when you feel bad.
breez: had a most deceptive therapist whom my insurance wisely disqualified from my VA insurance. As a retaliation this therapist used some private information that was no longer valid to create an excuse to harass me as a client . Mis -interpeting an outdated form used to try to implicate me as a serious threat to myself . Which this woman knew better . And after Was trying to find out what the reason was that my insurance , discontinued her. The following morning after most recent appointment there .Police Crisis Intervention Unit . Showed up at my front door at her insistance , just as i was on the phone . Attempting to decypher Theinsurance problem . This was a direct cause and effect in retaliation to my having to stop seeing her . There was no issue , that reflected any concern for my well being .Phoned the of Lilac owner to try to straighten this out , owner was fully supportive of the offending shorter gray haired therapist Debra. Much to my dismay .but the Lilac center is handicap accessible.
Linda Drozd: Total waste of time!!! Took my insurance info, spent over an hour in an intake interview...only then to be shuffled off to person #2 who left a msg with # which was always busy...weeks later...I speak to them to only find out there are no openings..omg!! Why? I could have been dead by now!! Why waste my time!!!!! Smh
Soapz Yt: Very unprofessional never called for my phone appointment amongst various other things like never receiving the materials from the last appointment. Called Lee’s summit office to see what the issue was and to possibly speak to a manager. Susan was very unhelpful did not listen to my concerns and just wanted to reschedule and said that the manager is NEVER available for phone calls. These services are entirely to expense to conduct business like this for mental health!- Response to Lilac center I should absolutely not have to make a Google review to get management help that I needed. Also I keep receiving a billing invoice for services I never received just bad business and money hungry
Angela Munoz: My experience with Lilac Center has been life- changing. The skills I have learned in DBT group therapy coupled with the individual therapy that I have received have allowed me to transform from a state of high reactivity and emotional dysregulation with no will to live into a functional member of a family, a workplace and a community who looks forward to living every day.Transformation like this does not happen overnight or without committed individual effort. I have been with the center for 2 years now and have utilized their services for teenage family members, extended family and couples counseling. The staff of therapists have always been responsive and caring and realistic about services available and potential individual outcomes. During lock-down, the staff went above and beyond setting up virtual spaces for clients to continue to receive services uninterrupted.I see the commitment and dedication of the owners to work to expand services and reach as many in need as possible. I have found the staff at the center to be highly empathetic, genuinely compassionate and firmly committed to restoring balance to unbalanced souls in an unbalanced world. The Lilac Center did not save my life...they provided me with the knowledge and skills necessary to save my own life.
Jenna Lord: I have been going to the Lilac Center for years and it has really helped me get through a lot of painful times.
Chasity Krueger: Very slow response time and counselors do not send requested information to doctors offices. I have been waiting for them to fax information since March and they still have not sent it over a month later. I was also approved for visits with my EAP but was then told by Lilac they do not accept those as form of payment. Good luck trying to reach a live person in the phones!
Brenda Lebsack: This facility is a disappointment. My daughter has attempted to seek counseling there since April/May. Took 6 weeks for just an intake interview. Facility failed to call so we attempted another phone interview which took another 2 weeks. Finally virtual Counseling appointment scheduled 3 weeks later. On day of virtual session, no phone call/no email/no nothing. I followed up with email to counselor who did intake survey. No response, so emailed again to hear she would call me when she had time. Heard back only to be told “sorry this happened, counselor no longer works for us, doesn’t look like there’s any openings in the near future, blah, blah, blah. I told them we would seek treatment elsewhere. Very unprofessional. Waited 3 months for nothing to happen.
Jacob Shively: Dr. Trueblood does not care about her patients. She stopped seeing me without a reason and dropped me after only seeing me for 3 months. I do not recommend anyone to see this woman. Extremely untrustworthy
Alejandro Y: I booked an appointment to have a consultation with someone about using there services. Front desk was unattended and after waiting a few minutes someone finally showed up to get me checked in. No apology and i had to ask about new patient paperwork. I didn't feel a warm welcome from the start. They were friendly, but I had this feeling like I wasn't welcome. The woman I had the consultation with said she would contact me about setting up an appointment with one of their therapists but I never heard back from them. I even had my girlfriend call and ask, but they never got back to her either. Asking myself if i seem too healthy should not be a question i contemplate. Finding help should not be this difficult or shameful.
Brooke Hass: Unorganized. Set up an appointment, went through the (very brief) consultation only to not be followed up with with an appointment with a selected therapist as promised. I called after a couple weeks of never getting that follow up. The receptionist took down the info and assured me there would be a call back. A few days later and I have yet to receive anything. They clearly do not care about mental health. Disappointing.
Shelly Ratzloff: Positive:Communication,QualityExtremely helpful. Ive finally come a long way on the road of true healing, still a ways to go.Amazing.
Angela Bond: The staff are always pleasant. The only down falls are having to reschedule often and the medication refills from the pharmacy. It takes the pharmacy trying to get refills response a long time to get the RX refilled. I have to call the RX line to get the refill taken care of and sometimes that takes a long time to process.
Leah: This place is extremely unorganized. I haven’t even seen an actual therapist yet and I’ve decided not to come here. I asked over the phone and in person (and even checked my own insurance) to make sure I would be covered if I came here. I drove all the way up to their North KC location (also told the receptionist that location is too far) for a 10 minute consultation to actually set up an appointment with a therapist that could’ve been done over the phone. Then I’m told at the end that all of a sudden my insurance will not cover my visits. Then they want me to schedule another appointment. They tried to bill me $115 for a consultation, and when I called, they didn’t even have my insurance on file anywhere even though I gave them my card to copy. Do not come here, they obviously don’t care about your mental health, just your money.
Elizabeth Reiter: Wonderful experience with Amy and looking foward to working with a therapist....so glad I found a place and felt comfortable and safe to Express my thoughts and feelings with Amy...
Jeran Anderson: I have been helped tremendously through group and individual therapy at the Lilac Center. Amy is a very loving and supportive therapist. I have felt constantly supported through my journey with mental illness. I can not recommend the Lilac Center enough.
Jeffrey Jans: For the last 2 years I have Learned and used the skills. Family and friends notice much improvement. Amy is not only an expert she is a patient and excellent facilitator. She is also authentic with her concern for us all. She has a great sense of humor

CenterPoint Counseling and Recovery: what do users think?
Chelse Love: Absolutely useless phone directory. Designed to make you hang up in frustration. Can't leave a voicemail and when you hit zero you get transferred to another entirely useless department that cant even transfer you to where you need to be. If you cant take my call or even let me leave a voicemail, there's absolutely no way I'd be comfortable pursuing therapy with you. You'd think a profession such as mental health care would give prospective patients the courtesy of answering their call. Not CenterPointe, apparently.
Jennifer Ingala: Claude has helped my husband and I, and my parents for years. He is THE best therapist is KC hands down. We have seen tons of counselors and he was a good fit from the very first appointment and we still see him as a couple 6 years later. I have referred tons of friends and colleagues to him.
Jessica Smith: I Love Claude Brunell here. I have seen him for about 7 years constantly. I have seen great leaps and bounds since starting. Even people who my husband and I refer him to really enjoy seeing him.
Traci Haley: I felt like Dr.Barbara Baer had the education, history, and definitely the skills to help guide me on a road to healing, but was more concerned about her payments due to my financial difficulties. That said ALOT to me without a word being spoken.I'd like nothing more than to be wrong and maybe she truely didn't think she could provide me with the therapy I need, but that just makes me think,"That's what you get for being honest, but if you're not honest how much longer can I tolerate this sadness, misery, and non-stop anguish?????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

She’s real and down to earth which allows others to feel free to open up without judgement. She’s effective and helpful. What an awesome privilege to know her!
Jacqueline Friedhof: Krista is one of the best counselors I have ever had, hands-down. I have a long history of trauma and mental health struggles and she has been one of the few therapists that I felt actually helped me make progress. I also felt like I learned something new each time or had a new technique to try. She is very personable and understanding as well as knowledgeable and professional. I highly recommend her!
Shannon Layton: Krista has been the therapy I needed. I appreciate her insight and compassion. I never thought I could be so happy to have found the guidance I've been searching for. I definitely recommend her!!

Courtney: Krista is a great clinician. Have known her in the field for many years.
Casey McDowell: I made an appointment in early November and my counselor never showed up to our scheduled Zoom session. Thriveworks has continued to charge me for services not rendered and all of my attempts to contact someone at their office have gone unanswered. I have filed a dispute with my credit card company and will attempt to report them to any necessary governing body. This type of behavior for these companies is predatory and preys on vulnerable people.
ramanda97: Krista has been such a blessing in my life. I appreciate her tenderness, compassion, and humor every week. I never thought I would be so excited to improve my life until my sessions with her began.. it’s honestly a privilege to be her patient!
Judith M. Howard: Julia is a phenomenal therapist. She listens, remembers, understands, and provides resources to help make progress. She has been so helpful to achieve and maintain my stability.

She made such a huge, important impact on his life...and in the lives of all those who love him. Our family will always consider her an angel!
Kimberly Davis: Krista is one of the best clinicians that I’ve seen. She brings a unique perspective and treatment style to the field while also catering to her clients needs as individuals rather than treating them all the same. I’ve spoken to many clients that had break throughs after sessions with her as well clients who knew that in a time of crisis they could come to her.
Donna Burchfield: Krista is a highly skilled professional who works very well with people from all walks of life who are experiencing tough problems, to enable them to find solutions for ongoing successes in living a better life. She is focused on finding innovative solutions which are helpful in an individualized way. She seeks to understand people in a whole-person way which accounts for emotional, social, physical, and spiritual factors as means for working together with you to find your best way for living. She is particularly capable in dealing with problems coming from trauma, abuse, grief, emotional problems, relationships, and substance abuse.
Clinton Cross: I’ve know Erin Eaton for over 4 years. Her solution driven approach is what sets her apart. She’s empathetic and caring, but logical. She wants to get to the root of the problem so she can help you find solutions. And she’s funny! Sometimes in therapy you need a little levity and Erin has a knack for lightening the mood without discounting the problem. If you need to talk to someone Erin is an amazing option.
Victoria Fry: Erin Eaton, LCSW is extremely motivated to help those with whom she works. She has a long history of working with clients of various ages and backgrounds. Whoever works with her will be getting a great therapist!
SUSAN S: I worked with Shanna as a colleague for many years. I've noted that people are drawn to her because she is so open and easy to talk to. One of her greatest motivations in life is helping others. She has the ability to lift others up with kindness and support. Shanna is insightful and I wouldn't hesitate to ask for her help.
