SJ Park: I am disappointed how this place turned into. Rude and not well-dressed server, unprofessional. Sports bar atmosphere without pool tables and darts. Not the type of whiskey bar you would seat down and enjoy the drink and vibe. Maybe try to seat at the bar not at the booth or table. Last night experience was just terrible. I used go here every week before I moved few years ago. I loved this place before and it makes me sad. I really hope they manage this place to improve.
Kaleb Young: Drinks were good but the service definitely left something to be desired. We waited 15 min, in an empty back room, before someone came by to take our order. Then had to wait another 20 min to get the check once our drinks were empty to get the check. We paid a large deposit for a reservation but we’re never told it was going to a charity instead of going to the tab. Which would’ve been fine if we had we been told beforehand but it felt misleading. I’ve had a good time at Julep in the past but recently it seems to have been on a downward trend.
Stephanie Simms: Made a reservation for the Halloween pop up, and it wasn't actually ready. Pretty disappointing that nothing mentioned it wasn't actually ready yet, and we were seated in the regular bar with some decorations on the table. We were seated at 5:45 and it seemed like our server intentionally didn't come by to take drink orders until after happy hour had ended.Drinks were fine. Small, and not particularly exciting. Seemed overpriced for what we received (especially the bar mix). The drink pictured was $26 to serve 2 and it filled those rocks glasses about 1/3. This will teach me not to be sucked in by a gimmick.Otherwise a very nice bar.

Holly Welsh: Beware of hidden fees. Our group of fourteen made a reservation for happy hour at 4:30 on a Wednesday. When we arrived, there were three patrons and a single employee sitting at the bar. We were instructed to sit wherever we would like. We pushed tables together at the far end of the restaurant and enjoyed our cocktails. Apparently, our reservation and our own efforts moving together tables warranted a 10% “coordination fee”. Ridiculous.

Kayleen: The service began and ended with my husband and our two friends being seated at the patio and given waters by the host. We waited for 20-25 minutes, were glanced at by the host several times, but were ultimately forgotten by the wait staff. We were really looking forward to our visit too.

Darla Todd: Went for my birthday. It was a good experience but it felt limited with the menu and wine options. Service was good also. Most nicer restaurants give you a free drink or dessert and I was just offered a happy birthday. I’m glad I checked it out but probably not a place I am rushing to visit again. We are somewhat foodies and the portions were on the smaller side but nothing impressive. Great place for unique cocktails. Uber there because parking in the area is limited.
Ray: Croissants were absolutely delicious (edit: they don't even make them). Food and drinks in general were fine, server was nice. I can see why other reviews mentioned this place being dirty, cobwebs and dust everywhere. They were out of several things when we went around 1pm during Sunday brunch.Be aware that a 20% gratuity is included in the tab - usually wouldn't be an issue except I was not made aware of this by the server and I wish I had. I didn't pay close enough attention when paying and the policy can be found very tiny at the bottom of their virtual menu.We had a large party and I tip well anyways so they probably got a 45% tip off of me in total. I really wish the server had pointed that policy out when handing me the check. Between the policy being written in very tiny print on a non physical menu in addition to the server not mentioning it outright (especially because we were a larger party) it really left a bad taste in my mouth. It was my first time in and it's not likely I'll be back.
Chris Jones: Phenomenal little place. Lively, chatty atmosphere, wonderful service, spectacular libations. I definitely recommend a reservation. My wife and I came without one, and they put us on a short list. We got in half an hour later. Our server helped us figure out what we'd like. Everything was excellent. Not cheap but worth every penny.

Teresa Fornoff: Love this little place! Came here for the first time about five years ago when my husband and I visited KC for our second anniversary, so it holds a special place in my heart. Went back with my sister and it was very good! It’s been many years so the menu has changed, but it was still good. We just snacked and got the Brie, devilled eggs, and mussels and a bottle of sparkling for happy hour.Our server was very sweet, we got there about 5:50 and happy hour ended at six. No one came over to our table before 6pm (I almost got up and went to the bar myself). She finally came over right after it turned six. Asked for our drinks, and I inquired if we could still do the happy hour pricing on our drinks because no one came to our table for at least 10 minutes. She was hesitant at first but then said on our first round we could do happy hour pricing. It was very kind of her and I’ll remember that.It’s such a cozy, romantic atmosphere and they have a small patio as well. Definitely will come back next time I’m in KC!

Linda Rounds: Great BBQ!!! Can't remember the name of the sandwich waiter recommended and not listed on the online menu. It had burnt ends, sausage and their homemade slaw. We ordered burnt ends and grits along with their cornbread hush puppies. Then the peach bread pudding and cream brulee was wonderful. Everything looked so good we way over ordered and took half home to heat up later. Would rate this way over some of the older BBQ places in KC. Great service and were very knowledgeable of their menu.

Brandon Lassiter: The food was delicious! Tender burnt ends, moist ribs, and flavorful brisket along side some yummy bbq beans and potato salad. The side upgrade to french fries is well worth $1 as the fries are amazing (comparable to KC Joes). In my opinion none of the places in KC (MO or KS) that I have tried can touch Char Bar! By far the best I have had and will definitely be back! Bob Anthony: What a fun venue! I'm always looking for restaurants with a good selection for my vegan friend and the Westside local fills that void. Although reservations are recommended we arrived Sunday for brunch without any and were seated in less than 10 minutes. Mat , at the front was very helpful and welcoming. Our waitress, Hannah was great! She was very friendly , knowledgeable and efficient. Even though the place was jumping (and a bit loud) she never acted or made us feel rushed quite the contrary she made us feel quite welcome like regulars. The food was fantastic! My friend ordered the biscuits and gravy, mushroom gravy with no meat. I had the country Benny and it was great! We lucked out with a parking space right by the door otherwise the street parking is very limited. Highly recommend. I am sure to return soon. Thank you for a pleasant experience.

Corinne Roman-white: This was my third time here. The first two times were great. The third time not so much. Service was just okay. I loved the Thai chicken skewers but noticed they weren’t on the menu anymore, so gave the chicken piccata skewers a try. The chicken was so dry, it was extremely salty (but perhaps that’s just the nature of the dish) I was substituted asparagus when the menu stated green beans and wasn’t even notified. I also was given “yellow squash” which was listed nowhere in the dish description. It tasted like a whole roasted lemon (even contained lemon seeds) but the server stated it was yellow squash (in a pretty condescending way) Perhaps the cook accidentally put lemons all over my dish instead of squash. Ate a few bite of my dish and left the rest.
fiddlejock: We’ve been here several times. It’s easily one of our favorites in town. It’s simple, delicious food without pretense or a high price tag. The tomatoes shine in the BLT, the mac and cheese is top notch, and the burger and fries are on the shortlist for best in town. Tonight I had the chicken piccata skewers with fried artichokes and mushroom lemon and caper rice, and it was excellent. So are the cocktails. They have a beautiful outdoor space, as well. Equally fitting for a special night out or just a casual meal. If you haven’t been here yet, do yourself a favor and go.

Found the Seasonal Quinoa to be flavorful, lots of texture, and hit the right balance of light and hearty. Many beverage options including seasonal craft cocktails and mocktails. Recommend making a reservation. The space can get rather loud as business picks up. Opted for parking on the street 1.5 streets away, an easy walk. Our group was there for a post-work, early weeknight dinner before an evening event.Vegetarian options: The menu clearly denotes if a dish is vegetarian and/or vegan, or how to modify it slightly to make it so.Dietary restrictions: The menu is pretty good about stating if a dish has common allergens (wheat, dairy, eggs, tree nuts, etc.). When in doubt, check with the staff.

Cherrelle Crawford: We came here for Mothers Day brunch and I was truly disappointed. There wasn’t much of a selection on the buffet. No waffles, pancakes or crepes of any kind. The potato’s were cold and the only thing that I really enjoyed was the omelette station. At first the waitress seemed nice but you could tell he was overwhelmed because we would have to keep reminding her about drinks, she messed up our bills.

The hostess welcomed me with a wonderful smile and attitude and sat me at the bar to my liking.I was greeted immediately by the bartender with a fresh water. He was also attentive and polite the entire length of my meal, keeping my water glass filled, eating space clear of used plates and my Bloody Mary requests fulfilled while maintaining other tables in the larger seating area of the bar.They offered three (3) variations of oysters of which I tried all three and was not disappointed. They were fresh and appointed well.I also had the Challah Bread French Toast with sausage and it was delicious! It was served with fresh blueberries, warm maple syrup and sliced thick! The sausages were a welcomed compliment to my meal and in my opinion, ya can’t beat sausage dipped in maple syrup!I would definitely order this again and if this item is any indication of their full menu, I would definitely eat here again if I ever get to visit KC in the future.
Morgan and Taylor Thomas: This place deserves at least 6 stars. Food; great. Wine; perfect. Atmosphere; post Roman Italy meets modern. What earns them the 6th star is the sommelier Lizzie. Her help and personality set our visit apart from any other restaurant we’ve been to. Cannot thank her enough. While this place deserves your business on its own merits…as long as Lizzie is around, we will be regulars
Garrett Kirk: Great experience here with Dalton our server. My wife and I were celebrating our joint birthdays, Dalton was nice and attentive the entire time. The food was great and I was impressed with how fast the kitchen pumped out high quality dishes. That’s hard to do with consistency. My wife enjoyed a Gin and Tonic that was distilled in-house with salmon and red rice. She said it was the best salmon she had ever had. I had a filet with wedge salad, duck fat yukon golds with melted leeks. It was great. The filet was cooked perfectly and the bone marrow butter was a great finisher. We shared the crispy Brussel sprouts and a few oysters. We both enjoyed them and I was honestly impressed with how crispy the sprouts were. The oysters were delicious, fresh and flavorful. The really nice part was since we were both celebrating birthdays, we both got complimentary desserts. $10 a pop, on the house. A restaurant with their stature doesn’t have to do that but it’s really impressive when they do. We’re just two folks having dinner and they treated us like we were Mr. & Mrs. Mahomes. It was really nice and we appreciate it. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a upscale dining experience in Kansas City. Plus it’s in Union Station, easily one of the top 5 destinations in Kansas City. It’s an all around new favorite of ours for celebrating life events.Parking: Large paid parking garage located at 1804 Broadway St, Kansas City, MO 64108. Easy walking distance to Union Station. Up one escalator or flight of stairs to large main hall with Pierponts on the opposite side of the hall.

Grilled chicken was tender and juicy but the seasoning like the chips were off. Tostadas, We felt like we must have just picked bad items so order the tostados to try something different and like the chips why would you even have this on the menu. So bad, we didn’t eat it. The waitress asked if we wanted a box, we declined as our dog would scoff at it. Please please please we ❤️ everything but the food-poorly executed I 🙏 you work out your kitchen/menu issues.
