Theatre For Young America: what do users think?
Alison Baker: My family and I have been to many TYA shows in the past and always enjoyed them. They had to cancel an upcoming show and were prompt with communication, letting me know my money would be refunded. They were even so kind as to give complementary tickets to another show! They are AWESOME!
Lishchkaya Eskridge: We have been coming here for years. The BEST place for theatre especially with kids of all ages.
Scott Cameron: We went to see Miss Nelson is Missing based on the children's book at TFYA. The theatre itself is nice and staff was friendly. The kids enjoyed the show and had an opportunity to ask questions of and meet the performers after. It was what you would expect (and no more) from children's theatre and it's not terribly expensive at $12 per ticket.
KM Parks: Love this place! Great shows for kids of all ages, my 9 & 2 yr old enjoy every performance. Box office and customer service are great too, this is a must do for families with young children in KC!
Jenifer Noel: Absolutely wonderful. Will be taking my daughter alot more in the future (already bought more tickets!) She is 5 and this made her first theater (other than the KC Ballet Nutcracker ballet) memorable. The theater is clean and comfy, the actors and actresses were wonderful and they interacted well with the audience. At the end of the play they stayed onstage to answer as many questions as the audience wanted to ask. They also were available to speak to outside the theater doors in the lobby afterwards, which is an extra special touch.
Jeremy Green: A wonderful theater group
hadley emma.: Amazing theater❤
Peter Hyland: A great experience for young kids and their parents. Located in the lower level. If you have trouble finding it just as at the information desk.
brian dostal: Great theatre for kids.
Megan Roberts: I will be recommending TFYA to all of my mom and teacher friends.Today I went (as a teacher) with 3 kindergarten classes. Unfortunately, we experienced some travel issues with our bus and we were running late. The employees at the box office were very kind and understanding in a stressful moment. The acting exceptional. High energy for the kids and lots of musical talent so older kids and adults can appreciate it too.If you are a teacher- TAKE YOUR CLASS! If you are a mom- find a show that fits your children's age and GO! My favorite part was watching the kids faces while they experienced the show. Each season offers that same magical moment for you- buy tickets today!
Patrick Gavisk: We like to take my little girl, and she always has a good time.

The Coterie Theatre: what do users think?
Real Estate Queen Dena Odom: We saw Don't let the Pigeon drive the bus. That play was hilarious. The actress, Daphany Edwards, that played the bus driver did an amazing job
Cathryn Adams: The show was amazing. Loved the theater set up for kids to really be up close and feel like a part of it.Pigeons should not drive the bus.
tika castilleja: My almost-9-year-old LOVED "Don't Let the Penguin Drive the Bus". Parents, too! Good view no matter where you sit, but if you want center seats, show up early. Comfortable temperature. Great experience. Your kids will love it!
Matthew Davids: My son and I had a great time watching high class actors put on an entertaining show for many! The house manager could have been a little more upfront about the rules in place when it came to the areas not to sit in. Instead of assuming we knew but other than that it was a great time!
Paulo Oliveira: A ton of fun with my daughter and their school field trip. I recommend the musical "Don't let the pigeon drive the bus". The kids loved it
Kyle Tritsarolis: Amazing experience. It’s the equivalent of seeing your favorite band in a small intimate venue, but for kids. The staff is extremely friendly and great with kids. The actors are outstanding and do an excellent job putting on a show for the little ones.Definitely worth going regularly and seeing the different shows
Kevin Seaman: The plays here are always great. They are enjoyable for not only my kids, but also my wife and me.
Carolyn Elrod: Delightful
Jamie Lee: Great shows as always.
Void Sprite: The play and actors were great! Although the director/writer of the play was a bit rude to my family before we saw the play. Other than that 10/10.
Charity Baker: Very good environment and play was exceptional.
Jared Thorp: We always have a blast here. We have been several times and have never been disappointed
Bailey H: I recently attended a play with my preschooler’s class. We saw “A Charlie Brown Christmas”. The show was really great. The actors and live band did a great job keeping the many small children engaged and excited. The staff were very organized and worked great with the little kids, getting everyone seated and comfortable in an efficient manner. I would definitely recommend visiting for a fun family outing or class field trip.
Rachel McWilliams: We went to see a Charlie Brown Christmas at the Coterie & it was fantastic! The kids loved it! We will definitely be back for another show!
Joe Hannel: You need to turn the heat on during productions. It was FREEZING in the audience.
Donna Reeder: The Kindergarteners loved the Christmas show! High energy and friendliness poured from the cast and the kids caught the excitement.
Kate Berryman: Performances here are fun for kids. We really like outdoor events they hold!
Jessica Kueker: One of KCs gems, Electric Poe is truly special. Never been disappointed in a performance from the Coterie.
Waco Porter: Not a bad seat in the house and great shows.
Wanda Brown: Akeelah and the Bee. Excellent production. Enjoyed myself but the Theater was very cold which made it uncomfortable for me 10-1-2022 @ 2:00p
Hehehheheheheh Hop: Our 1st time attending a show. It was a Birthday Gift for my Granddaughters. We really enjoy the show.

Theatre of the Imagination: what do users think?
Gage A.: Theatre of the Imagination has so many amazing programs and classes for aspiring performers! For beginners and advanced students alike, Theatre of the Imagination is an immersive and hands on exploration into the world of performance art that helps its students to develop vital communication and leadership skills. It is the perfect environment for fostering creativity, friendship and FUN!! I absolutely loved my time as a student with this organization. I enjoyed it so much that I went on to work as an instructor with them for several years. It was one of the most educational and rewarding opportunities that I have ever had. Miles is an AMAZING teacher who has explosively positive energy that translates directly into every single performance. Your kids will have such a good time taking on the roles of zany characters and learning how much fun it is to be creative while working on a team. I highly recommend Theatre of the Imagination to anyone looking for a fresh and exciting experience!
Kristyn Art: I had the pleasure to work at Theatre of the Imagination for a few years while I was going to college to become a Theater Teacher. It was a wonderful opportunity to learn new skills and inspire young people to love theater just as much as I do! I will never forget the spectacular students I was able to teach and the fun we had bring Miles' scripts to life. Thanks for all of the wonderful memories.
Matthew Koehler: Hello! I am a stage manager here in Kansas City and a former teacher. While Theatre of the Imagination may seem different from other theatre camps in town. I will say this - it's in the difference that one feels special. Theatre of the Imagination gives children a taste of theatre. What it's like when the stage lights come on and what it's like to say your lines in front of a crowd. I would recommend Theatre of the Imagination for those who are interested getting to know theatre and what this whole wide wacky world is about. Miles' "no audition" policy gives a chance for all children to feel what it's like to be apart of something much bigger than themself.
Emily Educate: I went to Theatre of the Imagination as a kid and absolutely loved it! I was always a dramatic kid and was able to really shine on stage with confidence here. Miles is an amazing director and always writes great plays/musicals that gives everyone an equal chance to have a part and really stand out. I gained confidence and was able to have fun as well. While coming to camp here every summer for probably close to 10 years- I made so many fun memories and made even more lifelong friends who I still keep in touch with. I had such a great experience here and would recommend it for anyone and everyone! 10/10
Jenny Stirling: My kid has been going to Theater of the Imagination for nearly 10 years! I highly recommend it. The plays are fun, everyone gets a part, the directors are supportive and encouraging. It's a well managed camp that we look forward to every year.
Maddi Grant: Where do I even begin?!? Theatre of the Imagination was a crucial part of my childhood, and has shaped me into the person I am today. After a failed outdoor camp experience (I am still not one for the outdoors) I attended Theatre of the Imagination as a last resort of something to do during the summers at my dads while he worked... needless to say I attended there for 7 summers more after. As someone who was a shy child, Miles had a way of getting ANYONE and EVERYONE out of their shell! Miles's impact on my life has carried onto my adulthood with public speaking. I can now even walk into a room of country music artists and hold a conversation even in a business setting, whereas before I couldn't even talk to my extended family members. I am so grateful for my time at T.I. and will forever carry it in my life. Every aspect of it was ALWAYS fun whether it was the classes, the shows, or even the pajama parties on Friday's after show days. I am so blessed I was able to attend such a positive environment. Thank you Miles and thank you Theatre of the Imagination for being such a positive impact in my life.
Stephanie Burger: Theatre of the Imagination is a dream for kids and parents! My daughter has had trouble fitting in at other summer camps and experiences. NOT HERE. Everyone is so kind, Mr. Miles and staff are incredibly engaging and they teach the kids valuable lessons through drama games and scripts. My daughter is so happy on weeks she has gone and wants to go every week next summer. The staff work so hard to make sure everyone has a great time. So lucky to be a part of this awesome adventure.
Alex Brisson: Theatre of the Imagination has Kansas’s best theater classes and summer camps! I started taking classes here with Mr. Miles in 3rd grade and I loved it so much I continued to attend through 8th grade. The big thing that makes this better than all the other theater classes and camps I attended is that it is SO MUCH FUN, a lot of theater classes take things way too seriously, and have a very sterile approach that I hated as a kid but theatre of the imagination manages to be simultaneously more educational and way more enjoyable (and probably better priced) than their competitors. I learned how to perform, improv and express myself on stage here (a skill that carried into the rest of my life) and made lifelong friends. My days here were some of the happiest of my life and I wish I never had to grow up and leave!
tash nunnink: Mr. Miles and his staff have been so amazing. Inspiring us to go to New York to see Broadway plays. My daughter loves being there, even so much as offering my daughter a day at the pool or WOF and said she wants to go to drama class…That sums it up right there!
Donn Breshears: We have been involved with Theatre of the Imagination for several years and the experience has been wonderful. Kids have loved it and Miles and his staff have made everything easy for the parents.
Allison Strauss: I went to Theatre of the Imagination as a kid, and it was an extremely rewarding experience. I am 20 now and still have life long friendships from when I was 11 years old at camp. Theatre of the Imagination gave me a chance to express myself and feel comfortable with myself. I loved acting and creating shows, and started my theatre experience which led me into the theatre program at my high school. 9 years later, I have come back and seen the extraordinary things that this camp provides for kids. I have seen shy little kids shine on stage and it is an incredible thing to witness. Leaving camp this summer feels like leaving my second home. Cant wait to come back next summer!!
manofsteg: We LOVE Theatre of the Imagination! Our daughter has practically grown up there. We include several sessions each year as part of her Summer schedule and are never disappointed! They even offer classes during the school year. She loves her time there; making new friends, playing games, and mostly learning how to be dramatic. And she's really grown in her acting abilities thanks to Mr. Miles and his talented staff. It's always a special treat attending the performances at the end of the week of classes—lots of laughs and audience interaction. We highly recommend Theatre of the Imagination!
Lisa Remer: I have to thank Mr. Miles and everyone who provided my son with the most wonder experiences and summer! My son is very creative and his mind is always coming up different ways to act out movies and replicate characters. He absolutely loved every day he was at camp. He loved it so much he will do 5 this summer. I can’t say enough about how thankful I am for Theatre of the Imagination for providing my son with an opportunity to be himself and get to do what he loves! I would absolutely recommend Theatre of the Imagination to anyone wanting to act, dance, play or just have fun!
Jody Delp: My daughter loved her Zoom birthday party! She and her friends created a Pokemon themed movie during a 1.5 hr party. All the kids seemed to really enjoy it, and my daughter had tons of fun. Mr. Miles helped the kids think of lines to say and then recorded them. He did a great job including every child and helping anyone who was shy feel comfortable participating. At the end of the party the kids got to watch the movie they made in its unedited form, and then later that day he shared the link to the finished movie that included some fun special effects. This was a creative way to have a Zoom birthday party, and now we have a video that we can keep forever. Highly recommend!
Michelle Routh: Great classes and camps! Both online and in past years in person.
Josie Schneider: Mr. Miles and Theatre of the Imagination have brought so much joy to my daughter's life during the pandemic. She previously enjoyed attending his afterschool programs and summer camps, but being able to make her own movies each week has been an excellent creative outlet during a time when there aren't a lot of opportunities to have fun and be silly with friends. Miles is very professional, patient, and has new skills to teach his students each session while also listening to their ideas and giving them a lot of control over the plot and characters in the short films they make. I highly recommend Theatre of the Imagination!
Julie Kuchar: Our daughter has been enjoying Mr. Miles and Theatre of the Imagination for almost two years. His inventive and interactive classes are an amazing part of our week. He teaches fun, positivity, and core concepts of theater with patience and encouragement. If you haven't signed up, you are absolutely missing out and so are your children!
Joni Wickham: My daughter's confidence, as well as her critical thinking and interpersonal skills, have all grown since she began taking drama class at Theatre of the Imagination. Mr. Miles is a true professional and has the patience of a saint. He expertly weaves in technical drama and video production skills with lessons related to teamwork, creativity and resiliency. We love Theatre of the Imagination!
Clarissa Crumpton: My daughter took the remote On Camera class this summer and loved it! She's been acting off and on for years and this class restored her love for acting. Each class was exciting, unique and interactive. With school and sports starting up again she will have to put this class on pause for a little while. She will miss her teacher and new friends dearly.
J McNicoll: My daughter took a class a few summers ago at the Theatre of the Imagination and really enjoyed it. What I personally liked about it was she got a part in the play that she found meaningful and had her chance to get up on the stage and get a confidence boosting experience. Thanks!
Eliza Goodwin: This review is LONG over due. There is NOTHING like what Miles does in KC!Why we love TOI? The shows are off the wall & creative - written by Miles and every kid has a part. There's so many opportunities for the kiddos here. The energy is incredible - the staff amazing! While I will never understand HOW they do it, they have it all down to a science and make it look easy. Thank you!!

Kansas City Young Audiences: what do users think?
Crista Matt: After 14 years with this company, my kid and I are deeply disappointed with how they treat their staff. A primary dance instructor was terminated with no notice and right before the Spring 2023 performance rehearsals. Many of the students who have been dancing under her for years are heartbroken and it seems my teen has been put to the task of teaching these kids with no compensation. Horrendous business practice! Please help me edit this post by making one thing right, KCYA.
Amanda Lea: My 10-year-old has been taking dance classes here since she was 2 1/2. We absolutely love the teaching artists, staff, and community. The teachers focus on training, not competition. All of the dancers wear costumes that are age-aporopriate and truly look like the young ladies and gentlemen they are in stage. The community is diverse and feels like a family. I can't say enough about how much our family loves KCYA!
Tilman Achberger: The place seems great with lots of room for parents to sit while kids dance. I've also been impressed with their covid precautions.
Kieran Ford: I'm doing Shakespeare here, and I wanna thank KCYA for being the great space that they are!
Cynthia Heng: Watched my granddaughter in a summer camp perfomamce of Peter Pan. Just delightful! My granddaughter loved the theater camp!
Jonathan B: We LOVE KCYA! Especially Miss Kim!
Basil inhaler of actual lungs: I mean
Suzanne Southard: My daughter has participated in summer camps and private music lessons here. Both have been fantastic. Great teaching staff and lively, positive vibe.
Lisa Brummett: My daughter attended camp here for the first time. She loved every day of it. It was a half day camp for two weeks and the performance at the end was really great. I wasn't sure they would pull off something good with so little time but it was better than I could imagine. They really are professional here. Will be back for sure.
