Christinia Atchison: I've stayed at Cottage West several times & always feel at home. The hosts are thoughtful & care about a peaceful stay. They have thought of everything & other than clothes I could almost stay without luggage. Beautifully decorated & maintained.
Denise Morgan-Irish: Feels like home, tons of attention to details, dog friendly, only place i stay in kcRooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 4/5 …More
Anthony Musco: Super cozy cottage with character and history! We loved our stay.
Santana McConnell: Loved staying at the Hedy Lamarr, such an adorable little airstream and so peaceful
Kimberly McJunkin: We stayed in the Airstream and it was the perfect size for a couple. I would advise coming before dark because the unit is hard to find; thank goodness the owner flagged us down and opened the gate for us.
Bill Sumrall: An amazing space! 10/10 will be returning
Medea Milenkovic (sneakybell): Very nice hosts that drove us to the bus station, when the first bus was delayed!Amenities were outstanding 😍 the neighbourhood is getting better!

Silver Heart Inn & Cottages: what do users think?
Jamie Mitchell: I will start off by saying that we did the Murder Mystery night for my bachelorette party. We didn't want the typical drinking party, it turned out to be alot more fun than I expected...I really had no idea what to expect.I do have to say that the desert was my favorite part though. It is a couple that runs (or owns) the place and the wife is a fantastic cook, I'd love to follow her around the kitchen for a couple of weeks and learn some things. I'd like to think I'm a decent cook but nope I was wrong, my food doesn't taste anything like hers!My best friend and I stayed in the beach cottage the night before my wedding and it was really nice. It is a cozy little cottage with it's own front porch and also back patio with a hot tub. It is closed in for privacy. Even though it is located right on one of the busiest streets in Independence it feels very private. The cottage was very clean and nicely decorated, I do wish the bed had been a little more comfortable though. Being the night before my wedding I needed to be able to sleep a little better instead of tossing and turning. It wasn't awful though, I have slept on harder. That really is my only complaint. The breakfast was a new experience for me which was really kind of fun. We all sat in the beautiful formal dining room (separate tables) and had a delicious four course breakfast on fine china and drank from crystal glass ware. The husband brought out each course one at a time as he cleared the dishes from the last. It resembled something I've only ever seen in the movies or the show Downton Abbey. It kinda felt like a grownup tea party with real and might I add delicious food...two thumbs up for the food! The whole thing was very enjoyable and my best friend and I had a nice time visiting with the other guests They were some very nice people and we all got to know a little about each other as we dined.I really would like to bring my 10 year old daughter up there for breakfast, I know she would love it...plus I wanna get their omelet recipe...yummmm!The couple that owns the place are two of the kindest people and they run the place very well. The husband even gave me a beautiful cake topper for my wedding cake because I was stressed out over not being able to find the one I had ordered a few months prior. He really didn't have to but it was such a blessing and I Really did appreciate it. It's funny because I actually liked the one that he gave me better than the one I had ordered so it really worked out. I still haven't found it btw and it's been almost a year.I'm so sorry this review is so late but I figure that it's better late than never.Thank you to both of them for making both experiences...my bachelorette party and the eve and morning of my wedding such a nice experience. I definitely recommend this place!
Regina Cassell: This was our second trip to Silver Heart Inn. We love the house and the cottages.I wish it was one street away from Noland Road, but the quality, amazing hosts and breakfast made us book again for next year! We are coming back to the Beach Cottage. We also strongly endorse their amazing packages, some of which include an on-site massage and dinner in a terrific local restaurant of your choice.Nearby activities: Noland Road is a great launching location for the greater KC Metro area. You can easily navigate around the city from this starting point.Noteworthy details: The hot tubs are great and the yard is well-maintained and inviting if you like being outside. Plenty of patio spots for a book or a chat.

The kindness and care taken for each guest from special requests to dietary restrictions are handled with grace and true joy. It is clear the owners genuinely care about your experience and excel at hospitality. If I am ever back in western MO we will definitely stay again.Rooms: The room we stayed in was lovely and comfortable. The accommodations and amenities were perfect and the service was outstanding!Food & drinks: The food was outstanding! A wonderful start to each day that was as perfect in quality as it was in quantity.

Katherine Weese: Rooms: The Beach Cottage was very comfortable and charming. It was a treat to have the hot tub on the premises and super convenient to have kitchen, laundry, and a coffeemaker. We appreciated that coffee pods and creamer were supplied. The bed was very comfortable, and the carpet and living room furnishings brand new.Nearby activities: The Inn’s guidebook is extremely helpful. The Inn is not far from Independence Square (walkable) and many historic sites. The Truman Museum and Library is a short drive and well worth the trip—an excellent museum.Food & drinks: The breakfast was delicious— ample portions, nice presentation, great service. Snacks were also available at check in.
Cindy Rotermund: Great 2 night stay here at the Silver Heart. Hosts were so welcoming and the house is lovely. It was unusually hot when we were there but our room had a window a/c which did the trick just fine. Breakfast was yummy both mornings. Also I really enjoyed sitting at the patio for some relaxing time with my book.Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5Hotel highlights Romantic …More

andie -: Our stay in the Beach Cottage was amazing. It was stocked with everything we needed for a weekend filled with sight-seeing and staying in to enjoy each others’ company. We couldn’t have asked for a yummier breakfast or better service. The property is so pretty, too. Highly recommend!Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Jennifer Cravens (Ajailyn): Newish owner was super friendly upon arrival! We stayed for our anniversary and as an independence area local I've driven past it all the time decided to stay! Charming, absolutely charming. The beach cottage was clean, comfortable, the cottage has its own private hot tub completely private even from surrounding neighbors! Kitchen was not only stocked with dishes and pans but coffee, tea, liquid creamers, but the spices were stocked! Did not need to buy those small things like spices we forget when on holiday! Breakfast was amazing and cooked at the time we sat down, not buffet style! Full two course style breakfast not those horrible continental. Saturday was my partners favorite from scratch made biscuits and from scratch made gravy with an egg and a chicken sausage link after the first course of honey vanilla yogurt topped with home made plum jam and almond slices! Sunday was strawberry and cream filled French toast made with French bread.. and sausage. Served after the first coarse of a Waldorf salad! Coffee, tea, juice and water were available. And the beds.. when you stay on a bed that is better than at home... just amazing service, charming room.. and plenty of soft plush towels... a perfect romantic get away!!!The only reason location was 4 * out of 5 was its spring we had windows open and it was very close to a busy intersection and near a firehouse.. when windows are closed though the emergency vehicles and traffic is a lot more muffled and its quiet! But it is very close to a quiktrip and a grocery store! Close to independence Square and other historic travel spots! The host is exactly the kind of inn keeper you find joy in visiting again!
Mashona Washington: We had a wonderful stay! Charles provided impeccable service from beginning to the end. We felt welcomed and well taken care of! We loved the comfy bed and the home itself was very quaint with its history and hardwood floors. We are excited about trying out some of the other rooms/cottages when we’re in Independence again! Highly recommend!Rooms: The Margery Stone room was very spacious and had everything we needed!
Stephanie Bizjak: This was such a great experience I only wish I had more time to spend here! I stayed for one night on my way from North Carolina to Montana & it was such a breath of fresh air! I stayed in the main house & it was so cozy. I got a great nights sleep. I initially wasn’t going to stay for breakfast since I had a long drive ahead of me & the owners graciously packed me a Togo breakfast snack. I decided to stay anyways to get the full experience & I was not disappointed! Breakfast was quick, delicious & the service was impeccable. I highly recommend & if I ever come back this way I will be sure to spend more than one night!
Mary Banks (Tami): Very cute, clean place to stay. The hosts were wonderful! I would definitely stay there again.Food & drinks: Breakfast was very good!
Rylee Harmon: We found this cute little cottage online to celebrate our 5 year anniversary and our soon to be wedding on March 18th! We loved everything about our stay here! We stayed in the Beach Cottage just over this weekend. This cute little cottage really is a slice of heaven and is 100% private. It really allowed me and my future husband to connect and really focus on each other. The electric fireplace and private hot tub were AMAZING. Ya’ll when I tell you Charles and Amy think of everything, they do! We loved to see they had little string lights located where the hot tub sits to add that romantic setting. It was such a relaxing little getaway and we absolutely fell in love with it! The only reason I gave 4 stars was because they are located down the street from a fire station. So when we were outside enjoying the tub we did hear sirens often but it DID NOT affect our stay or how we felt overall. More of something to be aware of. I highly recommend the cottage we stayed in if you’re looking for a romantic private outing and don’t feel like sharing the hot tub like we felt. 🤣 We can’t wait to return and thank you for making our anniversary a bit more special. 💙
Jeanette Wilson: Best B&B ever. Highly recommend. Great people, great breakfast and great accommodations. Will definitely come back 💖
Rachel Anderson: This place is the absolute best. We didn't want to leave! We got the Beach Cottage and it was very well worth it! The cottage was clean, the staff are fantastic people, and their breakfast was great! When we went out and came back it was like coming home. We were very impressed with everything and recommend this to everyone who needs or wants a very relaxing vacation. The hot tub was perfect and it's even got the best decorations! Will definitely return!!Rooms: Very clean, well stocked and prepared.Nearby activities: Perfect location and easy to get to nearby restaurants and attractions.Safety: Security alarms and codes for doors only given to you.Walkability: Gas station within walking distance.Food & drinks: Breakfast is made there in he AM. Very delicious!
Janice Fleet: Had my daughter's birthday celebration there. Wonderful hosts and beautiful Inn. I recommend it highlyService: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Brady Mueller: Silver Heart Inn is absolutely fantastic! Great location just 15 mins from Arrowhead and about 5 mins to Independence square. The owners are great and cook an amazing breakfast every morning, not just eggs and pancakes. They had snacks, cookies, coffee all regularly available through the day. We stayed in the Beach Cabin which was awesome. They private hot tub in the back was exquisite. Seriously 10/10.
mikenap73: We came for the Murder Mystery but decided to stay the night because the Inn looked so cute. It did not disappoint at all! The Inn is very lovely and the hosts are great. We stayed in the main house (the Legend of Asian room), and the room was exactly as pictured. It was a lot larger than we thought, and the bed was very comfy. Breakfast the next morning was delicious, and they even accommodated my picky eating. We took a dip in the hot tub before bed. I highly recommend!

Brianna Patton: Positive:Professionalism,Quality,Reliability,Responsiveness,ValueWe love sending our child to Carter Children's Cottage! Jettie and Terrell are very responsive and professional, the cost is reasonable, and our child loves his teachers!
Anna Koehler: I love this daycare so much. They are so kind and helpful. They are trustworthy and professional.
Mieshia Womack: I absolutely love this daycare, I have had all 4 of my children attend there. I know that when they are there I can go to work with a piece of mind knowing they are well taken care of. I can tell ALL the staff love their job and take it very serious and the ones that don't they get rid of real quick. Most of there children have been there since birth and stayed til they were 12. They communicate with me about my children and send me pictures of them from time to time. Also they let me know everyday what my children has learned and if they need more supplies in time for me to get more before they run out. I have sent a few friends there and they love it as well. Keep up the good work children's cottage
Danika Carter: In the beginning my experience was fair, but after a few months I realized the ladies running the daycare need to RETIRE. They have zero patience for children. I began receiving letters home over simple things 3-4 year toddlers do, but they failed to mention my child had a fall and scratched her face. I would also receive a call everytime a family member was there to pick up my child even though I filled out a form arthorizing specific people allowed to pick up my child. If your child will be late after 8:30 they do not serve breakfast and you are not allowed to send your child with a breakfast. They would address me with issues and other parents with issues and it was not done in private. very unprofessional. I witnessed several children running around the daycare not being supervised. It seems they were very strict on thier policies but were not interested in any change and flexibilty or common sense they toddler will be toddlers. I witness the two owners both scolding children and the same time. Children only need one person at a time speaking to them . I could go on and on I chose not to. I would not recommend this daycare.

The Regnier Family Wonderscope Children's Museum of Kansas City: what do users think?
Stefan Hodgden: They called CPS on us because my child told some bullies to stop breaking things and to be quiet when the staff was talking. We were visited by CPS, at which point they concluded the case to be closed. How do you get a visit from CPS? When there is signs of abuse and neglect. So you're telling me my son, who actually had intended to be good and promoted positive change, is now being blamed and us parents have to be punished for this?My son never broke anything. Th told him to shut and and that they don't care, to my son. We never received one email or call regarding any issues with his behavior until CPS was called. He never threatened to hurt anyone or himself. Not even the director knew that CPS had been called. They jumped the gun. In Missouri its a misdemeanor to make false claims of child neglect. So many wrongs here and in the wake is now a child that has to pay and parents that have to explain to him why. Thanks wonderscope, I'm sure your own parents would have loved it if CPS would have been called on them.
Caroline Knecht: We were members and chose not to renew. Part of it is because of their new ticketing policy that requires everyone, even members, to reserve tickets in advance. We were denied entry because they were at capacity one day, so I understand the need to limit crowds, but this way isn't great. We were asked to leave early because they were setting up an event (no emails or signs on the doors about this). We are frequently forced to leave exhibits so they can be reset. They clearly have a lot of growing pains they need to work out. It is a fun place, but it's frustrating to have to disappoint my kids because of all these new rules, random closings and overcrowding.

Allice Crawford: I booked my party MONTHS IN ADVANCETo the woman who kicked my daughter in the head with a soccer ball at FULL FORCE. and didn’t even apologize and said “she looks unphased “ I begged Wonderscope Children's Museum to do something about it. They refused. I asked about them at least keeping the mother from my child while we finish up her party. They told me to “ call the cops “ I asked for corporate or any number I can call Monday morning. They refused. They never checked in my party. They never wanted to leave from behind their desk. And this was all AFTER I was extremely flexible with them canceling my order for donuts and goodie bags less than 48/hrs in advance. And I never even got upset. I just provided my child w everything myself. So I’m conclusion DO NOT TAKE YOUR KIDS TO Wonderscope Children's Museum They will let adults assault you children. They won’t care. They won’t do anything. They are not reliable. And every kid who attended my daughters party was genuinely upset because they thought they would be hit by this woman next. And nothing would be done. A simple apology and communication could have fixed this. instead they met us with complete disregard and disrespect. Never again will we attend.

Abbi Suess: This was one of the coolest places I have taken my kids this far. We were there from 12-close and still had more we could do. The kids loved story time and got to make a super hero craft. All of the staff is very friendly and work hard to keep everything picked up while the kids play. They also have “mouth toy” bins for toys that littles put in their mouth. The Market was so cute and all the kids loved being able to use a shopping cart. The water area was also a favorite! My kids would have stayed all day if they could! I highly recommend!
Jacob Folk: Good place for kids but there’s a few employees that you can tell hate kids so that ruined it for us still 3 star for how much stuff and the other really good employees

Asia Horton: Wonderscope as always is an amazing place for the kids, however since it’s spring break, wonderscope was doing pre-order tickets. Unfortunately this was unknown to us and we were turned away. Which caused quite a few tears for the little one. Many other families came in and were turned away causing their own kids to cry.
Joshua E: The kids absolutely loved this place! Staff does a great job of keeping the place looking and feeling clean, despite the enormous amount of kids there daily. There was plenty of different play areas and activities to keep the kids busy for hours on end! It’s nice that the kids can go from playing outside to inside so easily! The kids have already asked to go back! & we will be!
Tamara Quinones: We bought a year membership for our family last year, and we've used it heavily! I've got 4 kids ages range from 3 to 12, and they all love going here. I've taken some of my older kids' friends, and they loved it, too. This place is like if Science City and Paradise Park had a baby. It has a water play area, imaginative play with the shopping and cooking, jungle gym, outdoor play including a sand pit area. They also offer fun learning classes that you can sign up for while you're there. It doesn't cost extra either. We usually have a difficult time finding an indoor place whenever the weather is too much. Check it out!
Amanda Donovan: Our daughter loves Wonderscope! We have a yearly membership, which is well worth the price. There's so much to do, it's easy to spend at least an hour or so here. It can be crowded over the weekends, but it's still a lot of fun for the kids. Our daughter is under 5, she's at the perfect age to be able to enjoy all activities available.
Hatim: Visited on Weekend Wait time No wait Reservation recommended No Price for adult entry $6–10More
Em Eff: A very nice place to spend a couple of hours or more! We go with our daughter and 3 year old grandson. There are many varied enrichment activities for a good range of age. I like that I can participate with my grandson. The staff is attentive without being invasive. The water works station is our favorite and the ball area is a runner up.
Jazmine Roberts: I usually don’t do any reviews on places, but this place called Wonderscope is one that hit a nerve. I went up there to book a birthday for my child’s first birthday, but the birthday coordinator wasn’t there. So therefore I emailed her telling her what I’m looking for, then the called me the next day. Ms. Maggie Fayard called me telling me in a rude and ugly way that we have an event that day, so we only 10am available. No apology or inconvenience, i will never come to this place and I do not recommend to anyone.

Gary: Spent the day Saturday, June 17 at both locations. 5 rides not operating for whatever reasons, some shut down all day others seemingly random and in rotation. Season pass holders only for the new Zambezi Zinger???? Sketchy maintenance, rotting wood on decks, green algae growing on the soda machines, trash bags piled up at ride entrances, limited food offerings. $7 for a 30 oz soda. You know it only takes .26 cents to make the soda which includes wages, ice, cups, etc.Fairly short lines, grounds/plants are nice and very well kept. The Patriot and Mamba only 2 good reasons to spend the then $40 entrance fee.Not sure what has happened to the park since our visit last year. Turned into the WANNABE amusement park East of the Missouri River at Disney prices, which you are not even in the same universe.
Shannon V: We had two cabins. They were nice and clean. Linens are provided for all the beds, but not the loft. We brought air mattress and blankets for the kids. The pool was really dirty, lots of leaves at the bottom and floating debris.Nearby activities: Nice to stay close to WOFFood & drinks: Pizza Hut delivers directly to your cabin
Mary Slates: The day of our check-in, we arrived after 9 pm and security let us into our cabin. I proceeded into the bedroom with our luggage and my two 4 year old grandsons. My grandsons are at climbing age so it lead me to inspect the bunkbed. I'm glad I did because housekeeping clearly did not clean it after the previous guests. I found a half eaten slice of old pizza on the top bunk post. I called security back and they moved us to a different cabin and said they would report the incident. Either they didn't or they did becauce the office acted all hush hush like nothing happened. I'm sick to my stomach because I keep thinking on what if my grandsons found it before me. I wasn't wanting any money back but an acknowledgement and apology would of been nice from management. They took my phone number and no one called me. Just disappointed at how we were treated. Lead me to believe they actually don't care.

The National Museum of Toys and Miniatures: what do users think?
Bryan Mccurley: Really worth it!!! Really cool place
Dave Brizendine: Actually two museums in one. The first floor was full of absolutely stunning miniatures. I was initially struck by the detail and beauty and artistry of the tiny pieces. Then I was struck by an appreciation for the skill and patience of the artists. The second floor toy museum was a walk down memory lane, as they say. A wonderful experience. Set aside about 2 hours for this and enjoy! There was a reasonable entrance fee but I have forgotten what it was.

Sherrie Ortiz: This one is a true gem.  Remodeled in 2015. If you have not visited the new space, it defiantly needs to be moved up to the top of your list. The toy collection is vast and very entertaining. No matter what your age it creates conversations of what life was like in a different time. Whether it was your childhood, Grand Parents or new retro toys that your own children may have….  the shared experience of seeing this unique collection will be talked about for days after your visit. The beautiful miniature art, furniture, models, doll houses with every tiny detail made in miniature will delight your family.  Over 22K objects to explore. I had the opportunity once to see a special guest artist talk about his craft.  He was a big guy, with large hands. He showed us how he actually made miniature tools in order to do the miniature work, right down to each dovetail of a dresser drawer. Matt: Great museum for kids of all ages. Multiple levels. Areas for younger age group. It's off their Union Station which is cool as well.
Anna James: This place is a hidden gem!! We have passed this place up many times, thinking it was a small exhibit. This place is HUGE, there is so much to do for all ages! We went with kids 3-11 years old and were there for almost 3 hours and didn’t even get through everything! Lots of stations, activities, art, and play areas. I can not express enough how worth it this place was! We paid 10 dollars more per ticket to go to legoland and we got through that in 2 hours - it was way smaller. The price is great and the kids have so much fun!

We originally put this on our vacation schedule as a filler in between Ocean of Fun and World of Fun, not realizing that's just an hour visit with three kids. You can easily make this a four hour visit like we have done. There are so many cool things to keep everyone occupied by brian teaser, fun facts, play areas indoors, and out door area. Basswood Resort: what do users think?
ulrich pricer: Entertainment was great the cabins were small like a 4 person only has 2 medium sized beds cotton flying everywhere pool was NOT clean but good anywayRooms: SmallNearby activities: Packed together
Jonathan Melusky: We only stayed one night, which in hindsight, is a mistake as the place is great and would be way way better staying a week or a Summer month. We were in mid May and lots of spaces free to pull through. You have to wait for a staff person to drive the golf cart to your spot. The weight room is not that great, but we made use of it while we did laundry. Laundry room didn't have quarter machine so we waited for main store to open. Store doesn't have much in healthy food, but we brought our own so that was fine. The lakes looked awesome for fishing and I forgot to ask if one of them was set aside for swimming or not. I heard there was a heated pool but it rained a bit when we were there so I only bicycled around when the rain stopped and I didn't see anyone swimming at the pool, but it looked great. Staff was super friendly there and a hundred stars to them. Even other campers were nice. My dad got lost at night, and another camper helped him find our trailer so kudos to them! Lots of birds here so if you are into birding, then look no more. But again, don't stay just one night like we did. But then we had a 3 week vacation to see 12 states so we had to get a move on. (^:
Kylene Westcott: We absolutely adore Basswood. It’s only gotten better and better over time. It’s every thing I could have asked for. Clean bathhouses/restrooms, nice sites, organized amenities. The pool is always warmer later in the day, but the playground/air pad/golf cars/theatre/fishing ponds and so much more keep you busy. They have a constant flow of events on the weekends, fun for all ages. We will go back again and again and again to continue making memories. They have tent sites/cabins/suites/jacuzzi rooms/RV sites and more! They truly have something for everyone
eliz huggler: The RV sites are much to close together. We could no open our windows because the neighbors table was right there! The staff was very pleasant and helpful.
Grace Gipson: Hidden gem ! It is a great place to get away from it all and remember family fun.Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Jeanette Gibson: Beautiful surroundings with an exceptional staff makes for an unforgettable experience!
Jerry Shanks: My brother, sister inlaw and their children stayed here about a year ago. When they arrived and unloaded their luggage in the rooms, their kids noticed something moving on the beds and all their stuff. They quickly left and went to our inlaws home. Fast forward a year and now we are all dealing with a bed bug infestation. My mother and father inlaws home has the worst of it for now. Now we have to get rid of mess

B__bies: Terrible service. They pay attention to money not quality. I stayed here for about two years and was always slow to fix pipes and electricity. Terrible staff that work thereRooms: 1/5|Service: 1/5|Location: 3/5 …More
Danielle Rucker: We had our RV parked in their RV park for several months. We decided to leave the RV there and return home for a couple days. We made sure to unplug everything and turn off the water before we left. The first time we left it there they turned our water back on and ended up flooding our RV. The second time we left they did the same thing and froze the pipes in the RV. They said it was because they were working on the water at the park and just turned it on when they were done. Regardless, when we brought it to their attention they offered no solution, apology or anything. The woman at the front desk who we spoke with about this was not helpful and incredibly rude. Based on our interaction with her alone we will never return, let alone the damage they caused without even so much of an apology.

Wylie Momma: Great, free place to take kids. It was definitely better and more aesthetically pleasing before they remodeled it, but still a neat thing for kids to do and you can't beat free.Visited on Weekday Wait time Up to 10 min Reservation recommended Yes Price for adult entry Free …More
K: I love that it’s free and gives kids the opportunity to be creative with all sorts of different art materials. I would highly recommend checking it out if you have kids. Be sure to book tickets online though because spots fill up fast. You can’t just show up and get a same day ticket. They have a certain amount of guests per time a lot. It is wheelchair accessible and stroller friendly so when you go in you can just park your stroller near the pictures of clouds and you don’t have to worry about it. They should give you a 2 hour free parking pass. Be sure that you are parking in the right area beforehand though. I parked in the wrong parking garage and had to pay full price.

Amanda Donovan: I wasn’t expecting things to look so dull and sterile. This isn’t what I recall from my childhood. I was really excited to get an opportunity to finally take my 5YO, based on what I remember. There wasn’t much to do besides draw on different cuts of paper with dried out markers, water color that was murky from kids not rinsing their brushes, and melted crayon wax. All the stations looked almost exactly the same, minus one space that had a wheel of fabric. I recall the space with a much more whimsical feel to it, now it’s just white and minimalist with a little bit of color. It makes me think it was designed with Ikea products? It’s very underwhelming. My 5YO struggled to stay focused, as all stations were almost identical. I could tell she wasn’t that thrilled because when she is engaged and excited, I struggle to pull her away, and she sometimes becomes upset (this happens at Science City a lot—she LOVES it. We had time to stop by after thankfully and utilize our membership passes). We walked out with no issue, she could care less.Disappointed to say the least. I know it’s free, but considering the waitlist is weeks long, I was anticipating her to experience the same magic I seem to recall from my childhood, like many fellow KC Native reviewers before me had mentioned. I don’t feel like she experienced that feeling, and felt no inspiration to create—nor did I to come up with creative ideas with her. Very much unlike her, she loves to craft and create! Maybe if a more similar theme to the old one had been designed in the remodel, she’d have enjoyed herself more. This is for kids, after all. I don’t feel like the current look sparks creativity as the old look did. Maybe I’m just being too reminiscent. The staff was very friendly though, so 5/5 for them.
Alasha Rainez: Loved this as a kid and can't wait for my son age 2 gets to go experience it soon. I'll be booking soon for him.
marina coon: My son loved it so much! Can't wait to take my daughter
dalton thomas: We took the kids out for fun but by far we loved it just as much
Cecil Bills: This an awesome interactive art shop for young children. The only limits is their imagination .
Queen Bree: Love this place
Krystina Tiger: A fun free thing to do with kids, I was expecting a little more but for not paying anything I can't complain.
SterlingJamie Bryant: Really enjoy coming to Kaleidoscope! They are definitely giving kids a great experience with creative arts and crafts, and free of charge at that!As a parent, I did find there to be a little less variety since they remodeled during the pandemic. I heard from the front desk that is more friendly to kids on the spectrum in different ways. I definitely support that. One of favorite stations that my kids enjoyed was the watercolors, on the back corner of the room. They even made hats! When we visited most recently, we were walk ins. I do suggest doing your best to reserve a time slot ahead of time.I would also advise coming earlier in the day. Their last session begins at 2:30p and ends at 3:20p.The front desk is less likely to help you enter as a walk in towards the end of the day but if you arrive before the beginning of a session, you are more likely to grab a spot as long as you have your kiddos with you!I will be coming back again with my wife and kids very soon and I recommend Kaleidoscope to anyone with kids that lives within driving distance of Kansas City, keeping in mind that there are many other things to do and places to visit within Crown Center and downtown KC.Atmosphere:5Family Experience:5Friendliness of Staff:4.5Homeschooling Activity:5
Zach Hyatt: Was incredibly disappointed. I remember this place being colorful and abstract and you knew what to do at the stations. There was neon lights you could color. Now it’s just so basic and minimal to no color. It’s all just coloring station with markers that don’t work. Save for a small wax station and water color paint area. It was awful. We left before our time session was even up. We were bored and didn’t know what to do or make. They used to have station that you could make different crafts at and you were actually learning to make something now it’s just paper and fading markers.
Becca Shideler: 14, 10, 8, and 4 year old all had fun at this place. O and us parents too! So many fun activities for the kids to do, and completely free! Only thing is make sure and get your tickets in advance. My kids left with so many new creations. They even had fun games for the kids to play if they were tires of arting. 10 year old made a chicken beak, that has made its way into a special spot so it wouldn't get crushed. 14 and 4 year old left with capes. But the 8 year old got the best prize of all she got a special Birthday sticker! She told the staff her birthday was tomorrow, and the brought out this cute sticker for her to wear.
kelsey guiot: It has completely changed, lost of coloring stations, a small puzzle making machine, water coloring station, wax drip station but that's pretty much it. Nice bathrooms. I recommed calling ahead to reserve a spot or at least to know when they are letting people in. You only have so long before your session is done btw i didn't know it was a limited time. All and all clean and open... but it was more fun when i was a kid, more to do anyway.
Kris Bever: We really enjoyed our visit. Our kids had a good time and so did we.
Michael DePriest Sr.: Long time Kansas City staple I took my grandson. I remember going as a child.
kmhemeyer: We had an okay time. It wasnt the same experience that i remember as a child although they had similar components. Very open ended. For me as a parent i would like to know what i should be doing at each station to help guide my young chidren. They just scribbled on odd shapped paper and then did the same at the next station. My kids rated it a 4. I would say 2 because we can do the same activities at home.
Amanda Quisenberry: Went today and my daughter loved it she is 6. But I remember going as a child and even a few years back when I babysit other children and it was so much more magical and the decor was more fun. I’m not a fan of the minimalist look they have going on there from the remodel. I was hoping they would have made it a lot more magical and artistic like it was when I was a kid. I miss the black lights in the room as well which was my favorite part.

With all the learning materials on offer I felt like it was more aimed towards children and school visits. The walks around the centre were lovely, especially on the sunny day we picked to visit.
