John Mauro: If you are looking to purchase a fireplace or stove and have Leisure World install it, or provide pool services, please read this review. Skip to my last paragraph for the short version.I purposely waited a year to write this review so I could give a complete review of the wood burning stove and Leisure World’s workmanship, after using it for a full season.First the stove review: Brian was incredibly patient in answering all my questions and helping me find the right stove for my home. When he didn’t know the answer, he went back to his distributor to get answers, so I could make an informed decision. He never rushed me in making a decision and always provided answers quickly and thoroughly, which I appreciated. I purchased a Pacific Energy Zero Clearance FP25 which has proven to be the perfect fit for providing about 90% of my heating needs this past winter. Given the layout and size of my house, it has worked exactly as Brian said it would.Now the workmanship: Probably like you, I’ve had many projects done on my homes throughout the years that I am unable or unwilling to tackle (roofs, driveways, wood stove installations, etc.). Some go well, some not so well. This one went exceptionally well! My chimney required an extensive amount of work as I was replacing an old gas fireplace with the wood burning unit. Justin and Eliseo were absolutely amazing in the work they did. Detailed, clean, reliable, and concerned about getting so many details right to meet performance and safety requirements was impressive. If these guys did any other home remodel work, I would hire them; they are that good.Kiah was so helpful in getting me updates while we were waiting for a final part from the manufacturer. She would follow up with me on a certain date as promised, even when there was no update yet on its arrival. This is great customer service.I highly recommend the whole team at Leisure World and I can confidently say that if you need ANY of their products or services, you are going to be treated right and the work will be done well, whether it’s fireplace or pool related, based on my experience. In this day and age, it is a welcome relief to know there are still businesses that exceed your expectations! Thanks Justin, Brian, Eliseo, and Kiah!

Jill Hoffmam: There was a lot of miscommunication with the consultant from Complete Home Concepts. When he came to assess and measure for the gas fireplace insert, he said that the only work I needed to do was move the gas line inside of the fireplace back about 2 inches so the flame would be closer to the fake logs. Based on their consultants information, I ordered the gas fireplace insert. This was not the case at all. He never disclosed a lot of other work that needed to be done, which was estimated at over $5,000. Obviously I would never have ordered the fireplace or moved forward with this project if I would have known any of this. They eventually processed my refund. Always get a second opinion before purchasing.

Michael Stephenson: Gas Fireplace Cleaning. Our service Technician was Mark, and he was fantastic. We've owned the place for 8 years, and it was about 7-8 when we bought it. In all that time I don't think the unit had been cleaned/maintained/serviced like it should have been. Asked around the neighborhood and someone suggested Complete Home Concepts. Glad that they did, it was about a month+ wait, but worth the time. Mark came in and got straight to work, recognized our unit, and knew exactly what to do and how to help. Dismantled and cleaned all while keeping everything confined to a sheet so nothing else got dirty. He even sealed up some cracks and gaps where cold air was getting in. Made sure everything was clean and looking very nice, and gave me some tips on the operation of the fireplace I had no idea. Very happy customer, will be calling them again to clean the fireplace!!
Sandra Frederick (rabbit-rrmc): Had a gentleman out to clean gas insert. He cleaned the glass. Maybe tapped the pilot. No vacuum no real service at all. Now when I call I get transferred 3 times to go to service and no one answers. He did offer to replace it for 3500-5000 if I wanted a new one. It works fine why would I replace it? Just clean the darn thing don’t try to rob me blind. Only leaving a review because calling to get assistance was pointless.

When he came to the house he was friendly, fun to work with and his expertise solved our mirror issues. In the showroom, Kenny was also friendly and great to work with and even when the shop was extremely busy he took the time to answer all questions, provide info and placed my order. Delena’s phone and email contacts were great and again friendly and fun. Jason installed mirrors that were exactly what we wanted in a quick, professional manner and gave them a nice shine in less than 15 minutes. Everyone we encountered were professional and friendly. I recommend them highly!

He worked on our fireplace for a significant amount of time until the job was done and did a very thorough job even when the appropriate tools were not available to him, he did not give up. Jason Riek: Please look elsewhere if you want a pleasent experience. I was instructed by Napoleon (fireplace manufacture) to come to Fire Place and Bar-B-Q Center as they are the closest authorized Napoleon dealer to complete a warranty item (broken remote thermostat receiver). This was a two-hour round-trip drive for me. The encounter with Fireplace and Bar-B-Q was horrific. The front desk staff member (wearing a Napoleon hat) refused to do the warranty claim. He tried to get me to go “down the street” to another fireplace company and while we were on the phone with the napoleon agent, the Fire Place and Bar-B-Q staff member asked me to take my stuff and move from the front desk. And walked away. No other customer was in the store. Luckily Napoleon customer service rep was on the phone and heard everything. Even the customer service agent for Napoleon stated how rude Fire Place and Bar-B-Q Center was and is sending me my replacement part in the mail so I would not have to go back. I could not imagine having that guy serve me fast food much less in my home doing fireplace work. Worst customer service I have received in a decades!

Jess Adams: Initial experience with A salesperson was Great we purchased Natural Gas Burner Sets. Decided we would purchase our logs there as well the following day. One of the sets of logs we were interested in was on a working display the other set was next to an open display simply needed to be set inside so I could get a comparative visual to provide my Wife who unfortunately is disabled and has a hard time getting in and out of vehicle as I explained to the owner of the store.. He spent more time telling me how he needed to straighten his warehouse than it would have taken to help us make a decision between the two sets of logs I told him I couldn’t believe he didn’t want to make a sure sale on logs especially with us having bought the burner sets the day before, he stuck to his un helpful decision nevertheless I left empty handed and purchased two sets of logs later that day at a store that was far busier but actually cared about the customers needs regardless of it being peak time of the season etc. Very shocked to find out after my experience it was the store owner and not an employee that provided such poor customer service heck I’d of been happy to have placed the logs in display myself. Side note I’ve been self employed from day one serving the public and always treated people the way I would like to be a little extra effort is worth it in the long run but as I left he did tell me to have a nice day!

Benjamin Robinson: These guys are fantastic. They represent what a small, local business is in my mind. Great service and friendly, patient interactions. My family had just moved into a new house with a gas fireplace, but the manual had been lost and we had never used gas logs before. I called and sent some pictures to Mr. Kelly who sent me a PDF of the manual and walked me through starting the logs. He communicated everything very articulately and within minutes it was up and running. All of this at no charge. The best businesses are places that know a positive interaction with customers is far and away more important than nickel and diming. This is that sort of business.
Rebecca Haney: They have held $2500 of our money since AUGUST. The original install date was December, then January now February. After contacting Kozy Heat it sounds like an issue with a part. However, Jonathan the owner is emotionally unstable. He extended a $500 reduction in labor cost for my mom and dad last year when they had the exact same problem and told us he was canceling our order and would, "check to see if he could get my money refunded," since I left a poor review. Yes, Jonathan you will. It's called the Attorney State General and BBB. Go anywhere else and stay away from Kozy Heat! UNPROFESSIONAL HACKS

Kelly Edwards: My mother and I walked in to buy some grilling gloves for my father. Didn't see a single employee anywhere. We stood at the counter for a while waiting for someone to check us out. Family a four walked in and an employee magically appeared, approached them and ignored our existence in favor of selling this family a fireplace. Needless to say we left the gloves on the counter and left.I don't care if yall prioritize large sales over the small ones. Ignoring poc customers in favor of white families is not a good look

Christine Albers: I have called this company twice for an estimate on replacing my old gas fireplace. The first time I called I was put through to a sales agent who never called me back. I waited a week and called again. I explained to the young lady who answered the phone that I was calling because I have an older gas fireplace and was told the parts would be close to the same price as a full replacement. She proceeded to ask me what I was calling about. I explained again, a quote please. She said I had to measure the fireplace myself and bring those in to the company. There was no mention of an appointment. I asked "do they not come out to the house to do that?" Her reply was polite but curt, this is the busiest time of year so no. I think a busy time of year is a good thing for any company. I will definitely not be using this company. Customer Service was poor over the phone at least so why would I expect it to be any different in person.

He took the time to teach me about functions my fireplaces have that I wasn’t even aware of. The install went smoothly and professionally The final set up after the stone was installed was done in a timely manner. When it came time to actually learn how to use the fireplace, Mark was instrumental in instructing and demonstrating how the fireplace worked. He answered all of our questions and spent over an hour with us giving us pointers from how to start the initial fire to how to keep the fire going to how to clean the glass between burns. We can now enjoy the coziness of a real fire in our new home thanks to Mark and Midwest Fireplace

The day before I had met with Jim who was fairly professional and seemed like a nice man but Joan was very unprofessional. Coming from someone who has conducted interviews and hired employees onto my own team it was very surprising. I wouldn't have even talked to a teenage new hire like that let alone someone who was just there for an interview. I had almost instantly decided the interview was over and did not want to cause a fuss so I simply walked out. Michael McIntire: I have shopped here for lots of accessories, but will never shop here again and after reading the reviews I don’t know why anyone would, the owner comments tell you all you need to know never in the wrong and fairly snarky to say the least. My mother in law bought a griddle top to go on top of my gas grill but wasn’t what I wanted (this was towards the end of June) they closed up shop July 2nd due to moving. So couple months later after they have opened at the new location I went in to return it in the same box still brand new, well no return policies now after 14 days, I couldn’t return it because you moved…. Well we can give you a store credit or another griddle ok you don’t have what I want let’s just return it…. They won’t and insisted on the in store credit. I try to buy local but it’s small business like this that make the click of a button an easy choice.

I overheard an exchange between the owner and a customer who was asking questions. The owner became short with him and belittled him for being unsure about what he needed. The customer had done nothing to provoke such a response. I was stunned by the owner's behavior. I decided I could not in good conscience support his business anymore, and I left without making a purchase.

Beth O'Bryan: Terrible customer service. My fireplace stopped working after less than one year. I've called several times (including twice a day for two days in a row) to diagnose the problem. They keep telling me a sales person will call me back. I just called again. Very rude lady told me that there is no possible way someone could have called me back in the last two days, and they are calling in the order of received messages. I said this was terrible customer service, and she replied that this was my opinion. She said she'd take me off the list, but will not have further conversation with me. I will not be purchasing anything else at the store in the future. Very disappointing.Update: After calling, yet again, someone called me back. They said I had to come into the store in order to talk with a salesperson regarding my problem. They would not help me over the phone, even though I explained I live over 35 minutes away from the store. Again, the person was rude (different person), and said they conversation was over and hung up.
Bill Brown: Stopped at Smoke 'n' Fire today for my first trip there. Man do they have alot of stuff for BBQ and grilling. Definitely will be back to buy some wood and pellets as they have a selection of those that I haven't found any where else yet. Their spices, rub, and marinade select is massive. Found so many that i'll have to grab up one of the next trips I make. Definitely going to need to get me another cabinet to put all my seasonings in haha.Prices aren't to bad either most of everything I saw was of name brand or another brand and good quality feel. This is a plus cause i'd rather spend a little more to get that quality rather than cheaper price for a cheaper quality product.

Brian Zevecke: They are great people who care alot about their customers. We had a wood burning stove installed by Hearth and Home back in the 80's and they have just gotten better with time. Definitely recommend them if you are thinking of using wood, gas or even electric styles of heat! I am back for another new stove and they exceeded my expectations again! Drew Siebert: We had a positive experience working with Hearth & Home on our fireplace upgrade. We replaced a cheap builder-grade wood-burning fireplace with the Kozi Heat Z42CD with the optional blower. Pre-install Courtney was very helpful with the many many questions we had preparing for install and planning the surround and hearth replacement. During install, the crew was great - going above and beyond what we've come to expect from contractors. Post install, we still had a couple of questions, and Courtney was quick to respond with the info we needed.It did take a while to learn how to properly build fires in our new fireplace. It is very different than with an open-faced fireplace. Once we got the hang of it, following the suggestions in the Kozi instruction manual for a log cabin approach, we get blazing fires in no time.One minor concern for the Kozi unit... the door hinges work their way out with open/close cycles. I'm not sure if the single-door version has the same issue or not. We have to push them back in from time to time to keep the doors from falling off their hinges. Not a huge deal, and luckily my wife noticed this happening before the doors fell off entirely.

Mandy Menge: I am completely blown away by the kindness and helpfulness of all of the staff here. After getting taken advantage of by a chimney company and spending a lot of money to have my fireplace cleaned and my insert inspected, to then find parts to my fireplace insert were damaged - I called the manufacturer of my insert who were absolutely no help in getting parts. I was beyond frustrated, and I figured I would give hearth and home a call to see if they could possibly help me. The man that answered knew exactly what I was talking about and said he would be more than happy to help me! I expected another large bill for the repairs to get it fixed. The employees that I spoke to each time that I called the store were extremely kind and willing to help. I was shocked. I took my insert out to them and dropped it off, and they had it fixed and ready within a day, when I couldn't even get parts for it from the manufacturer! Upon telling the store personnel what the chimney inspector said that I would need to pass inspection, the employee helped me by telling me I didn't have to have the expensive items I was told I would need. ( Even though I planned on purchasing them from hearth and home, And his honesty meant missing out on the sale ) I honestly thought that they completely undercharged me for all of the stress they saved, and the services they provided so quickly. I was extremely impressed by their honesty, and wonderful customer service. We will definitely shop nowhere else for our fireplace needs, And I would recommend them to anyone and everyone! Thank you all for being a business customers can trust and providing such a wonderful experience! I appreciate it so much!
scott heiser: Went in and talked to Virgil a few times about installing a free standing wood stove in my home. He got all the details about the home and recommended an empire gateway 3500 stove to heat my home. In our first conversation, he told me it would cost "about" $X,XXX and he was right on. He was $12 over his original "about" estimate. He had a crew of 3 guys that worked thier tails off and got our stove installed in about 3 hours. Positive experience all the way around. We haven't had a fire in the stove yet, but will do a "burn in" soon. All of his crew were amazing. Thank you Virgil and crew. I know where I will be going for any stove related supplies I need!
