Amber Walker: This was the best little place. I just moved to the neighborhood and have been packing/moving/unpacking me and my daughter for what feels like ages, so I ordered here for dinner for us. The portions were such that we can eat on this meal all weekend long. Everything was delicious and super well packaged for take out and very fresh when I brought it home. I really appreciated the care they took with everything and having it ready on time also! The lady at the counter was very friendly and she remembers her regulars. Looking forward to becoming one myself! Will definitely be coming back. Thank you again for providing a good meal for us.

Lauren Preator: I do love the food. The lemon chicken is incredible. However, I've only been here 4 times, all within the last 2 months. 3 out of the 4 times, I've had hair in my food. Most of the time it's in my rice, but today it was in my rice and on my crab Rangoon. Long and short. I won't be returning any more. I kept hoping it was a fluke but it's happen more times than not. I can't eat here and end up throwing it all away.

Betty Jones: Coming from an actual Chinese person, the food is not that authentic. Lol. We ordered off postmates and it said the food was ready and when we got there, I think they accidentally gave it to someone else so we had to wait for them to remake it. The lady was super nice though. However the chicken was pretty bland . I got like the spicy dynasty chicken🍗 or something. It did come with nice dessert cookies and mints. We ordered spring rolls, thinking they were the see through ones but they were also just smaller egg rolls (fried). I wish they had the amount of each roll you get per dish written on postmates. Ok place for American Chinese food.

L_________ R_________: Very laid back, hole in the wall, family owned restaurant. Their egg drop soup is a nostalgic recipe just like at the Chinese buffets I grew up eating in (you know, with the chandeliers, rainbow lit vaulted ceilings, and soft serve machine). I saw they have a lot of to-go orders during dinner hours. I ordered crab rangoons (pretty good), egg drop soup, and long life noodle soup. It was pretty filling and came with cooked egg on top, and underneath it chicken, shrimp, some greens, and long thin noodles. It had a warm, mellow oniony flavor which I would definitely come back to eat when it’s cold outside. Authentic Chinese restaurant.

TONI HARDY: This was my first time at The Rice House and I must say the customer service skills lacked. I ordered Mongolian Beef and it was nothing but onions and green onion. In the mist of eating our food the waitress handed one of the persons in my group a to go box without even asking if she was done. She did not ask anyone else in my group if we needed a box etc. Needless to say I will not return back to this location.

STILL my food wasn't given to me before I had to get to work. I am still out of $21. What a scam. DO not order from this restaurant. Aloha Chopstix is much better and affordable! Everything was flavorful and tasty, especially the hot egg drop soup needed on a very cold day. Parking wasn’t a problem. Mind that you are parking in a university campus area so you may need to make sure you pay for parking. Bathrooms are clean but chilly especially on a cold day like this day was.

Jes Caylor: This place had been on my list for quite a while after I was told the authentic menu was really great. We made the mistake of going at lunch which was only the limited menu. I got kung pao tofu and my spouse got general tao's chicken. The chicken was pretty good, with a sauce that wasn't overly sweet. My tofu was cool and soggy with raw cool vegetables with warm sauce. We also had our rice mixed up, but honestly the steamed rice was better than the fried. I couldn't really complain about it because there was only one server working, so we didn't see her at all between when the plates were dropped off and the check dropped off. While the authentic menu might be better I'm not going to drive 20 minutes again to give it a shot.Oh, and my fortune cookie didn't have a fortune lol. Kevin: Asked for no mushrooms twice on online order, but received a mushroom heavy vegetarian meal. We also ordered the cumin chicken skewers and received TOFU! Poorly seasoned tofu on a skewer. First time ever trying this location and we won’t be returning.

Sean Fyodorovich: This is the best Chinese food in Kansas City! The owner and chef is simply a force of nature. The crab rangoon is reason enough to visit often as is the hot and sour soup. The service was unlike any I've ever experienced--- I'm not sure it could have been any friendlier. You truly feel like you're a part of their family and indeed it is a family business. Both the owner/chef and the daughter (who runs the front of the business) could not be sweeter people! I just really regret that in all my years of living in Kansas City and visiting that I didn't know about Tao Tao until now. Highly recommended!!

Steph Martinez: I don’t know how a restaurant has managed to make their off the menu food taste like the worst buffet you’ve ever been to. But Tao Tao has done it. Maybe there’s something else beyond the four things my table ordered that is good but I can’t imagine it. It’s a popular spot but my entire table didn’t like it. Not good for vegetarians at all. They don’t even have tofu.

I got the crab rangoon and combo lo mein extra spicy.The rangoon is great, and is on par if not a little better than my favorite Chinese place. I would say the lo mein is a little better. I ordered it spicy and they most definitely did a good job on that. If you're taking it home, I'd mix it in a bowl since the sauce tends to settle at the bottom of the take out container.Overall I enjoyed the food. I'm a pretty big person and this ended up being a little more that I can eat in one sitting. I'd recommend this place.
