Harvey's at Union Station: what do users think?
Joe Deli: Fantastic food and ambiance.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Andy Dale: Sunday brunch was very good, but because of the small footprint of this restaurant, the seating area seemed makeshift. The table cloths didn’t fit the table and I felt like I was an afterthought. Our table for 2 was suited for a table for 6. The waiter was attentive and knowledgeable about Fred Harvey history. Unfortunately, when we asked him to validate our parking ticket he took it from us and brought it back letting us believe it was validated. We didn’t know until pulling out of the garage, but he didn’t validate and we were charged for our parking.
Evan Pichler: Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5More
Caleb W: They put some god-awful sweetener on the sweet potato fries.Food: 3/5|Service: 3/5|Atmosphere: 4/5 …More
Jean Michael: We had our leader dinner here. It was good.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Harry W: I brought the family for the Sunday brunch buffet, it's about 30 dollars per person, but we all thought it was very average for that price. My biggest disappointment was the roast beef. It's so tough, so hard to chew, I almost have to spit out every mouthful I take in. It's painful. Many breakfast items like scrambled eggs, bacon sausage, those are just fine. What really stood out as outstanding is 1) the smoked salmon.. they bring out the whole fish, and that was very nice. Loved it. 2) the cocktail shrimp. those were large the juicy and fresh. I ate more than my fair share of those. A nice desert table with a good variety, but nothing to write home about, you could find the same things at a grocery store.. I don't think they made it there in the restaurant. Our service was very average. We noticed the next table's server was noticeably more friendly. She actually smiles and tries to talk to you. Ours just come and refill the water/soda. Not very social at all, maybe that's the way she is.Parking was unfortunately not free. it's 6 dollars per car. Total for 3 of us is around 120 for the whole experience. And honestly that seems hardly worth it. For 120 we could have much better food in KC so many other choices. But union state is magnificent, lots of activities for the family and the view is amazing where we sat.Anyway, overall I would not recommend the Sunday buffet. You may be better off order off of the menu, but I will have to come back another day for that. Only if I don't have to pay the 6 dollars just for the privilege of coming in the building.
Angie B: Great Bloody Mary, but the Sunday brunch is only buffet. You can not order off of the menu and it doesn’t tell you this anywhere online.
Tara B: We went there for breakfast before heading to science city. First off we got there about 15 minutes after "open" and they were not prepared for guests yet. We were seated and had our drink order taken. While waiting for drinks we witnessed a staff member eating while other people were being seated. After our order was taken, it took about 15 minutes for us to get our food. Let me rephrase that it took 15 minutes for my mom and daughter to get their food. I had to wait another 7 minutes for my food. My daughter got biscuits and gravy and her biscuits were hard and crunchy, I got the chicken and waffles and my chicken had no flavor at all, and my mom got the chamber light which was so so. I have to say, this was the worst experience we have had here out of the number of times we have been.
Karen Throckmorton: My husband eats at Harvey’s twice a week for lunch & loves it. He decided to surprise me for Mother’s Day and made reservations. The buffet was amazing! Thanks for making Mother’s Day special.
Larry Throckmorton: Excellent service, awesome food. Favorite lunch spot
Nichole Garrett: Food: 1/5|Service: 1/5|Atmosphere: 2/5More
Brandi N: Made a 9:15am reservation for breakfast. Waited for 15 minutes before we explicitly asked to be seated. No one really greeted us at the host stand, just kept telling us "we'll be with you in a minute." After that happened 3 times, we requested to be seated seeing there were empty tables. We understood the staff may not be able to get to us right away but we didn't want to keep standing at the host area as there are no seats/benches. The server who sat us was rude. She flipped our menus on the table, walked away before we sat down, made no eye contact with us when she came back to take our order, someone else delivered our food, no one came to ask if our meals came out to our liking, rude server returned about 15 minutes after we finished our meals and simply asked "anything else for you?" My first experience here left much to be desired. Manager was responsive to our concerns. Listened and offered a discount. I appreciate the manager's attentiveness but I probably won't be back.
Kristina Murdaugh: Harvey's has a super cool location inside of Union Station, which makes for a beautiful atmosphere. I'd read online that the brunch buffet was apparently incredible and given it was my husband and I's final weekend living in KC we thought we'd give it a go.Before I get into that, let me give you some pros of this place. The hosting staff and our server were very attentive and kind; I was impressed at how fresh and tasty the fruits and vegetables were on the buffet; the buffet had a nice variety. Now, for the downsides. We took the street car here, so we didn't pay for parking. With tip, two buffets with Diet Cokes came out to a little over $80.A Diet Coke at this establishment is $5.50 per person. Those are darn near movie theater prices. And, honestly, I really wanted to like the buffet. I SO wanted to like the buffet. Everyone said it was good but... I did not care for it. The bacon was soggy, many of the dishes on the hot bar were cold, the sausage wasn't snappy, and we generally found that most of the dishes lacked seasoning. The prime rib was fine. The ham was fine. I liked the waffles OK. The desserts pretty much holistically were too dense and too sweet, though I do recommend this blueberry cheesecake they had with a chocolate crust. It was pretty darn good.I've had some fantastic buffets in my time but I do try to set my expectation into buffet mode when I go to one. That being said, we arrived right at 9AM. The food should have still been pretty hot and fresh. And with the Google reviews we'd seen, we expected for this meal to be a lot better than it was.It just felt like a hotel breakfast, prices and all.We left disappointed, for sure.
Rick Williams: I ordered take out so I had to go around the corner to order. The person who waited on me wasn't familiar with menu items and had been sweeping the restaurant floor prior to asking what I needed. Well, I wanted to see my food before packaging...no big deal, I thought... I asked to speak with a manager. The manager finally comes with a "what the hell is this guy wanting" type of attitude with facial expression to match. Well, I asked about the menu items and explained to the manager I'm in a terrible hurry and could I see the item before it was packaged for take out. He rudely says "no, we don't do that". Well, ii didn't want to go into a full explanation about my last food poisoning experience at another restaurant because remember I'm in a hurry. After asking a second time, I got the same answer. I then said no thank you but seeing MY ALREADY PAID FOR TAKE OUT was imperative and would make me feel more comfortable. The Manager then realized that I was not playing once he saw me begin to communicate w him, pushing my glasses toward to the end of my nose viewing him from over my glasses (you know how grandma would do when she was tired of foolishness). The menu items was delicious but the manager (I believe a member of the gay community, as well as I) took me back 40 years when I would attempt to have a cocktail at a famous gay bar downtown and was told "you have to have 5 pieces of state approved, pictured ID to enter this establishment" (true story). Nobody has 5 pieces of pictured state ID. Mind you, those many, many gay bar experiences here in "Klansas City" were some 50 years after Jim Crow laws (these gay bar experiences were in the 1980s...Jim Crow laws were active during the 1950s and 60s)... I was totally taken aback by the restaurant manager's over all demeanor and overall prejudiced aura. This experience bought back hidden trauma for me making me regret coming back "HOME"... food's good, management terrible. For those reading this piece and wondering...yes I'm old, Black and gay!

Dusty Seifert: My family comes here a few times a year for crab leg night. Most of the time they are pretty good but every now and then they have an off night. Our favorite server is Sharon. We always try to get seated in her section if we can. She is awesome!
Bryan H: Major scale back of service provided. Use to be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week. Now only serving dinner five days a week (you can get brunch on the weekend). Not sure if this is the doing of the new owners of Harrah's, Eldorado Resorts, or if they are trying to make the books look good with the merger pending.
Tomt: Great service
Steve Swearengen: Always the best
Debbie Smith: We went for crab legs and the crab legs were great most everything else was good but the cookies were so hard to the point that I just threw mine away. Not sure if it's from over cooked or just dried out but I wouldn't serve them.
Aiyana5807simms Simms11122007: I like their crab legs
Sandra Clevenger: Awesome crab legs! Salad and dessert bars are great too!

PeachTree Cafeteria: what do users think?
Keith Allen: Didn't get anything...called to see if they had salmon croquettes and ladyvsaud yes. 2 minutes later, a guy did not hesitate to tell me no. I laughed and walked out....2 weeks in a row. I went to Niece's
Jamil Nelson: IT'S HORRIBLE YOU ALWAYS HAVE TO WAITMORE THAN 20 MINUTES FOR FOOD, THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS TERRIBLE , WE JUST LEFT IT TOOK SO LONG TO GET OUR FOOD,AND IT'S SO DARK AND DREARY
Johnnie B: 6-9-23 just "powered my nose!" however the place smelled super delicious and was doing a brisk business!!!!
Marcus Kenyon: Good down home cooking...Everything was excellent..
Renee' Alex: Good
Brandon Barr: Food used to be great back when they had the buffet, but now you pay more for less and have to wait around in line to get your order filled. Please bring back the buffet! I know food prices have increased and I’m willing to pay more, just don’t want to have to choose only one or two sides and eat out of a styrofoam box.
Dayatara Craddock: Not going back unless they switch back to being a buffet. Prior to them going cafeteria style, I was a HUGE fan 😭
Monica Cashmere': Quality Soul Food , the best in the city. 🏽 service can be hit or miss but there’s been improvements.
Devan Burton: Can’t go here anymore. Girl in the front has the worse attitude. She had baby hair and thick king fake eyelashes. Older man serving the food kept stopping to talk to another worker who wasn’t on the clock. Then he gave half of a spoon for every side. Chicken was dry. I waited for Mac & choose. It came out and I was already at the register to pay. So they added it to my plate. Got to the car, it looked nasty and watery. I tried it, I didn’t like it. So I went back and asked to replace it. The young woman at the register had a horrible attitude. Told me “it just came out, it needs to settle” ma’am I’m going to eat this now, I would rather have another side. She rolled her eyes, and shook her head with an attitude and threw the Mac and cheese away. She was extremely rude. Corn bread tasted different. I tried giving ya another chance but it’s a no from now on. This place used to be the best. Idk if it’s the cooks, or front staff. Need to make changes. Would love to have back the buffet. It’s very overpriced for the amount you’re getting.
Lauren Schmidt: All their food has SO MUCH FLAVOR. The staff are incredibly quick and accommodating.
Bianca Evans: Best spot to get some soul food! Never disappoints!
Marieanette Jaracuaro: Food was delicious!
Sherry Lynn Lay: MUST GO.....DOWN HOME COOKING DONE RIGHT... GREAT PRICES
Megan Williams: Rude people, then you stand in line for 30 mins and they don’t have what you want. Asked about the wait for item I wanted and they ALL rude. Done with this place all together.
Cheryl Barringer: Food to salty
Johnny Ervin: Fire!!!! I mean best soul food I've had in years. First time and I tell you what I'll be back.
Queens Corner: I mean its overpriced soul food but if your in kc and u gotta have some then they are the place. A bit pricey and the dining in could have been cleaner so its not the best experiences. Would I go back probably not because of the prices ....but its great place to experience soul food.
Allen-Deidre Phillips: The food was absolutely Amazing!!!!
Nathaniel Golden: The 5 stars are for the food.. The place itself could function so much better!! But I guess the cafeteria part is on purpose.
Chris Dew: I liked it better when it was a buffet. Spaghetti was extremely salty. I do understand that food prices have changed everything.
Ariyana Townes: Food was on point, service was good. I will return.

Shortly after leaving, my boyfriend and I became very nauseous. I don’t think it was food poisoning but I definitely felt sick shortly after leaving.

Carlos Torres: I go for the pork green chili - there was a woman in the Bottoms that used to make it jjat like this. Worth the entire buffet all by itself. Jerry Martínez: Demasiado caro para ser buffet.
derek baker: Mexican buffet. Pretty good food for buffet, lots of different options. Very busy at lunchtime, but they did a good job keeping the food stocked.
First name Last name: Asked for flower got corn, shrimp not cleaned, over cooked and cold food, poor selections and way over priced and the building looks ran down on the inside and rough on the outside.
puto el que lo lea: No tenía sabor la comida...
Edwin vav: Food n services good for the restaurant...
Richard Dickison: Southwest BlvdMexican BuffetLot’s of authentic choices on the buffet… their Chili Verde rocked hard but watch out they have real bones in with the meat… nothing fake here like the pile of cut limes in the middle of the salad bar section should have told you. Delicious fish and shrimp served with heads and tails and all the body parts intact so be ready to do a little work when you eat here. Even the tortillas were real toasty and tasty. Not for the faint of heart but nothing good ever is this is honest down home style Mexican not your touristy prepackaged Tex Mex bull. Stick to your ribs good food.
Rex Morrison: I went to enjoy beef tamales with sauce, Refried Beans and Spanish rice. They only had 3 tamales on the buffet line and they were so dried and hard that they didn't even want to cut with a knife! The Beans and rice was ok,, but I never got a replacement for the tamales and they didn't have any sauce for them. The service on my drink was good and the place is very clean and sanitary. But $20.00 for that meal was and is totally ridiculous!
De gonzalez Isabella.: Comida excelente, ambiente familiar.
Olivier Emerson Soldner: I love this place. I got to try new foods and the baked chicken and rice was super good. I'm going to try the whole fish next time I'm in.

Essay Buddy: This place is so good. I love the grilled pork chop breakfast. Very few places offer a grilled pork chop for breakfast and it’s great because it’s a lean cut of meat while also being delicious. Also, I get the over medium eggs and they cook it PERFECTLY every time, which the value of that can’t be understated because most places serve it with raw, clear parts of the egg uncooked. This place cooks at the right temperature and takes care in ensuring things are cooked right. I hope they pay their cooks well because that’s a massive driver of business. Too many restaurants neglect the quality of their food which should be the core focal point of a RESTAURANT. They think business will come anyways, well not my business. I’ve been coming here frequently and tipping well due to the quality of food. Plus the ambiance of the place is great too.

Darin Breeden: A not so hidden gem. I've never seen it not teetering on the edge of being full, but I've never had to wait for a table. The service is quick, friendly, and as personable as you'd like. The food is all from scratch, with unique flavors that are done well. It was a neighborhood grocery store in the 20s and has kept all of its charms while bringing a vibrant, cool touch through the use of hand-made designer metallurgy (made by a co-owner) and a vast array of well-tended greenery. It's truly a local spot that will never disappoint.
Lauren R: The best breakfast and lunch in kc!
Grace Van Berkel: I highly recommend this restaurant! The owners are extremely friendly. We ordered a variety of food from the menu and everything was delicious! The space is cozy and sunny. The perfect neighborhood café!Kid-friendliness: My kids love the food! They liked the French toast casserole, breakfast croissant, and breakfast pocket. The environment is perfect for family dining as well. It feels like a home away from home.

Keith Mergenthal: I recently had the pleasure of dining at You Stay Tomato and I must say, it was an incredible experience. From the moment I stepped into the restaurant, I was greeted with warm hospitality and a lovely ambiance that set the tone for the rest of my meal.I had the Quiche with the Mexican coffee and I was blown away by the incredible flavors! The quiche was perfectly baked, with a flaky crust and a delicious filling that was both creamy and savory. And the Mexican coffee was a real treat – rich, bold and the perfect complement to the quiche. The service at You Stay Tomato was top-notch. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu, making recommendations that really hit the spot. The atmosphere was cozy and comfortable, and I felt right at home as soon as I walked in the door.Overall, I give You Stay Tomato a resounding five stars. From the outstanding food and drinks to the warm and friendly service, this restaurant truly exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend giving it a try – you won't be disappointed!

Kylie Vannaman: My 6 y/o daughter and I stumbled upon this gem last weekend when out hunting for a new breakfast spot and what a find! We had the breakfast casserole with mushroom gravy (yu-UM), cinnamon roll and Mexican Mocha. All were on point. The only thing that topped the food was the sincerity and kindness of the staff. While we were waiting for our food, my little one got sick and we had to suddenly head home. The staff was more than accommodating - pulled our breakfast out of the oven to pack up in oven-ready tins to heat up at home, tossed in a banana to help settle her stomach and off we went home. We look forward to coming back when we can stay and enjoy the cozy, eclectic, ambience of this adorable spot. Thanks YST!
Charles B: I wish there were a few more fresh veggie menu options.
Rachel Perisho: Update: Still great and the following review still stands. The raspberry rolls are a must try, coming in second only to the chocolate rolls that are inspired by classic choices in some Mexican cuisine.Google is asking me to review this place after a recent visit. You Say Tomato is still 5 stars. I guess I didn't elaborate 4 years ago when I first offered a rating, and now I could. There's just a lot to say, and here's some of it. I've been a big fan since I first went here - 2011? 2012? I'm not really a very conspicuous customer, but I've had the pleasure of chatting with Annie during the pandemic food pick ups, and resourcing the delightful food here to ease how many things there are to juggle. The pocket Reuben is always a smashing success for me, but it doesn't stop there. Are there ever blips? Yep, because humans are making this food. Will building a relationship with the menu (the quiche! the breakfast casserole!), if not the people, be worth your while? I certainly think so. I know I'm not the longest running customer by far, but there's few places that I've been as happy to go back to, over and over again for both the people and the food.P.S. I've never found a quiche that competes!
Seth: One of the best brunches in KC, no question.

Tomás Orihuela: You Say Tomato was one of the best things I tried in Kansas City. If you're looking forward to knowing more about the U.S. and their people, touristy places are okay, but places like You Say Tomato give you an authentic, real sense of Midwest Missouri. The food is awesome, the place is really comfortable and fancy, and the people that work there were super nice. It's not cheap, neither expensive, it's just the price it should be. Totally recommend it.
Robert Merrick: Uhhh.. what’s up with their hours? Can’t even go eat here anymore. Anyone know why it’s never open?
Faith Moorman: I had the grilled cheese and it was the best one I’ve had.
Kayla Guilbault: The food here was incredible. Mocha and latte were delicious. Enjoyed the quiche, croissant sandwiches, and jalapeño grits!

Todd Miller: Have been to the locations in Denver and Colorado Springs so had high hopes. Less than 10 people in the place and Service was horrible and all the food was luke warm to cool. Very disappointed. When told server about the cold food...her reaction seemed like she had heard that before.UPDATE- we visited again on 5/31 to give them another try, and everything was outstanding. Crystal Palomo: Omg, the biscuits are humongous. Everything was absolutely delicious but you may consider splitting the dishes. The whole place is pretty neat . They have 2x pool tables, a bar, and pizza by the slice. It had a really fresh vibe and was a cool niche to just hang for a bit.Parking: It's a little confusing where to park and find the entrance because the place is really 3x businesses in one.
