H C: My 14 year old attended Teen Challenge Kansas City for the full 15 month program. She had a fantastic experience there. I was extremely pleased with the staff, Pastor Alan, the teachers. Her counselor was especially supportive and kind. Everyone was wonderful. They were able to provide the support that my daughter needed to get back on the right track. I feel that this program was the best choice we could have made for her future.
Jennifer Downard: I went here when I was 15. Talk about abusive staff members. Verbal abuse at its finest. My parents agreed it was a bad place.
Emily Chadwick: Why are the majority of 5 star reviews seemingly friends of the directors and not people who attended the program. I don’t even think parental reviews of the program should be accepted. Every time I told my parents what was going on, they were told that I was trying to get out. The girls are the ones who experience this program, not their parents. The parents get the best behavior on monitored phone calls and monitored mail and passes that we didn’t want to get taken away from us. Idk, just thoughts.
Laura Knight: Kansas City Girls Academy is a great environment for struggling adolescent girls to find healing and hope. I had the opportunity to work for KCGA for nearly 3 years. After working closely with the directors and staff, I can promise you that each person working at KCGA has a heart devoted to helping girls find hope in Christ amidst their dark and painful life circumstances. I cannot speak to the experience of students before I was a staff member, but I can say with full confidence that if you make the choice to send your daughter to KCGA today, you will be in the best hands. The staff are trained to help students in crisis remain safe, and the counselors use evidence-based mental health counseling practices alongside Biblical truths for daily application. It is certainly not easy for any family to come to the decision to bring their student to a facility like this. And no student wants to be away from home for 15 months. But I can speak to the countless stories of girls who took the program seriously, allowed it to work the way it is designed, used their temporary circumstances as a motivation for positive change, and ultimately let God into their hearts to change their lives for the better. If you are considering KCGA, please speak with the current staff and ask questions on their processes and practices. They are not afraid to address any concerns that you may have. If you are struggling as a family with your teenage daughter, KCGA can, and will, help you find restoration.
Amanda Burak: We sent our daughter here after multiple failed inpatient treatments. We were overwhelmed, lost, hurt, scared. My daughter was lost. After researching many options, we came across this one. We read the reviews, called the center and spoke on the phone about concerns. We were invited to come in and discuss our concerns and tour the facility. We made the decision that this place was right. I will never forget the anguish I had dropping her off, but also the compassion that everyone showed us and my daughter that day. Fast forward to the end of the program and beyond, WE HAVE NEVER BEEN HAPPIER!!. We have a happy, healthy young woman who is looking forward to life, God, and what is next for her! We asked her about her experiences and she said it was definitely hard, but she has no regrets about being saved. She even asks regularly, if she can go visit the staff because they were very important to her. If you have any reservations about the program for your kid, call them. They are very open and honest about what the program is and how it works. I pray that a place like this would not be needed. However, we live in a very cruel, hard world, filled with evil and temptations. Kansas City Girls Academy is amazing at bringing light into a struggling, teenagers life. We can’t thank them enough!!
Victoria Marie: I stayed here 15 months from 2011-2012. I left with even more trauma than I came with. Majority of staff were verbally abusive, the practices were inhumane and they did nothing to help the girls work on family relationships. During my time there, there were only two counselors for 30-60 girls and no medically trained staff despite accepting girls who were withdrawing from heavy drugs and suffering from eating disorders. There’s not time to write about every abusive, unsanitary and morally corrupt thing that happened there. Majority of TCKCMO alumni would tell you the same story. If you care for your daughter at all, do not send her to this sorry excuse of a “faith based program.”
olivia holcomb: I was here for 9 months, here is what I and the other girls experienced:- neglect- refusal to address our physical and mental health issues- cruel an humiliating punishments- verbal and psychological abuse- excessive punishments- bullied by staff members- and much moreI still have ptsd from the trauma this place and their staff put me through. The parents who send their children here should be ashamed of themselves.

Nothing was working. When a friend told us about Teen Challenge, we did our research, & enrolled our daughter. We felt God’s hand in our decision. WOW, the best decision we ever made. The Directors & Staff are very dedicated, & showed our daughter true love for her & her success. Their Christian faith is the basis for this programs success. Our girl found a renewed faith & trust in Jesus Christ as her Savior, with a peace & confidence she did not have before. Without that faith, we don’t believe she could have finished this program with the love, confidence & respect, that she has brought home. This is a tough love program, no doubt. We believe that’s exactly what our daughter needed to become healthy. We give 100% our recommendation. If you have a troubled teen, & you believe discipline & Jesus Christ is the answer, look into Teen Challege. We feel strongly that Teen Challenge saved our daughter, saved our family. Logan Miller: We weren’t sure where to send our son for school. My wife passed by the Blue Ridge Christian School campus one day and felt she should check it out. From day 1 we have really enjoyed the sincerity of the teachers passion to be great educators and a tight-nit community. Class sizes aren’t big which allows our son to get the support he needs. Grateful we were led to this private school! Highly recommend!
Maggie Marconett: I attended Blue ridge grades 7-11. Worst years of my life and left me and other former students with trauma we are still recovering from. Really horrible do not send your kids here. Teachers and entire staff including the top lady mrs reynolds’s all very unprofessional and most of them aren’t even qualified to teach whatever it is they’re teaching. Weird cliquey environment that is in a way encouraged by the teachers and staff. All staff has a problem getting way into students business and personal lives in an unhealthy and toxic way. The education can’t even make up for any of this because like I said, nobody is qualified expect for Mrs Moore and Mr Henderson from my experience. Lol and sorry about my grammar and punctuation in this review, my english teacher was also teaching like 6 other subjects and coaching basketball.
Juli W: BRCS has been such a gift to our family! My children are excited to go to school and learn about the Lord and His beautiful world. Now, more than ever, our little ones need to be in a place that teaches truth. Dropping my kids off at BRCS, I have peace knowing they are in a faith-filled and nurturing environment. I can't say enough about the incredible staff who constantly pour into the lives of these kiddos. I have never seen anything like it. What a blessing beyond words!

I am so impressed with this school's heart for the Lord, the dedicated and passionate teachers, and the students in my son's class. You will not find a more Christ-centered, Biblically-based school in the area better than BRCS.
