Midwest Cyclery LLC: what do users think?
Jeremy Zwillenberg: This shop just gets it. Kind, informative, polite, you can't ask for better...thank you for not being condescending or elitist. Whether it's Patrick or Trent, it's just a nice place to shop!
Austin: This is a very welcoming and friendly place if you're just getting into cycling. My partner and I did some research initially on bikes, but nothing beats going to the experts and getting that human interaction and recommendation.Christina and the team were all very helpful in every aspect of the purchasing experience, from sizing, test rides, and expertise. We're more than pleased (ended up buying two Kona Dew's) and will DEFINITELY be back for our monthly tune-up (included for free)!
Todd Altizer: What great people! Best bike shop in town!
christine woods: Super helpful nice and knowledgeable.
Michael Arango: Fantastic customer service. My experience couldn’t have gone smoother when I purchased it and when I came back to service my bike
JDM: Needed inner tub replaced and had missing back light. Separated light wires were connected to each other AFTER I dropped off bike and was told bike mlght catch on fire because of sparks and was refused service. BEWARE. You don't connect positive and negatives together unless you want sparks.
Seth Smith: These guys are great! Was loading up the bikes to leave town and realized one had an issue. Called and was told to bring over and would take a look and try to fix. Trent got the bike back in working order and saved our trip. He explained the issue and how he resolved. Thanks again!
Ken Corry: Went into the shop when they opened. Great service and very friendly. Bob worked on my bike and Pat answered my questions about possibly getting new tires on my mountain bike for trail riding. Very knowledgeable and store is put together ver well.
Greg Hyatt: Great shop, friendly staff.
Kendra Garetson: Great service center, and a good selection of supplies. The staff is friendly and helpful.
Thoraxe The Impalor: Went to Midwest Cyclery looking for a bike. I know next to nothing about bikes, but wanted something to start riding around my neighborhood. I was met at the door by the owner of the store, Christina, who showed me around. Her husband was able to watch my son so I could more easily look at the different bikes with Christina. The customer service I experienced was unmatched. Not only was I able to look at and try different bikes, but I found one that fit within my budget. I would highly recommend this shop for anyone who is looking for excellent products and unbeatable customer service. I will be coming here to get my bike serviced and to buy my wife a bicycle in the future.
BF: Christina and team are awesome! They are deeply invested in the community and their staff and go the extra mile to make sure their customers are cared for.
Maddie Reddick: I am new to biking. They are always super helpful, supportive, and let me know about things my bike needs that I literally have no clue about. They've helped me cruise safely. They've hooked up a new tire tube when I got a flat, recommended better tires to help with my glass problem, and informed me of other things my bike will need. I know I have a lot to learn, but I'm not afraid or intimidatedto ask staff here, because they are super helpful. I need to ask them about general maintenance for sure. Again...pure newbie on a bike. Anyway, there's no better spot in KC for repairs, equipment, and help. If you bike or are thinking of starting...go to Midwest Cyclery. They are the actual best.New tires pictured...because I am stoked about them.
Robert Thompson: The staff are incredibly accommodating. I have found the mechanical work to be the best I have encountered in the city. Very chill atmosphere. Highly recommend.
Travis Chisham: My wife and I wanted to upgrade our bicycles. We bike 30 to 50 miles a week. I had an idea of what we wanted. We had questions that were easily answered. Didnt get what I wanted. Instead we got bikes more along the lines of what we needed. With a much more comfortable bike. We were also treated very well.
Ron: I'm just getting started looking for an e bike and already see that the staff here is great. Very professional and knowledgeable while willing to spend some time to help, looking forward to working with Christina and the team to get me rolling.
Ron Nacho: Great local bike shop with competent, experienced, and honest mechanics.
Daniel Whiting: Shipped a bike with them. They are flexible. Got the work done before they said they would. Seem like good people.
Emery Harris: Good place to get your bike worked on. Folks are experienced and fair. They have a selection of gear that'll make your commute easier as well.
Isaac Floyd: Very friendly and knowledgeable. Walked it with lots of questions and walked out with 2 new bikes, better than expected!
Joseph Gilligan: Good place to get your bike accessories or fix the bike you have. Convenient location too

Playtri Kansas City: what do users think?
James Trahan: It appears to be closed permanently as of 03/03/2023.
Sara Banner: I love PlayTri. Sad that they are closing. They are always friendly, very knowledgeable about triathlon, and involved in the local community. They offer expertise in finding the perfect shoes. I
Travis B: Playtri is the best place for triathlon information. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly.
Sydney Moyer: The customer service here is absolutely amazing! Anne helped me find new running shoes and recommended a lot of great nutrition options. The family friendly atmosphere makes shopping less stressful when training is already stressful enough. I always try to support small businesses when I can so I was so happy to learn about PlayTri in the area! Thank you guys for all your help and I hopefully will be back soon!
Rebecca Collett: At one point I gave PlayTri a favorable review. I had just finished my first half ironman and had lots of encouragement from the team and the coaches. I was new to the long-distance aspect of triathlon training and was willing to do what it took. In the second half of the year my opinion changed drastically as I began to communicate with the tri community and reflect on the training and coaching received. The good: The coaches can be an encouraging bunch to a first timer with lots of Atta boys and positive remarks. I drastically needed help with cycling and was given the right tools to be able to become a better cyclist. A lot of the teammates were also very encouraging. It seemed like we were all family. I even got my bicycle from one of the coaches at a better than fair price. Their bike mechanic is very knowledgeable and the store makes their teammates bikes a priority above all others. The bad: When you join the team you are getting a copy pasted plan that everyone follows. There is not any real detail in the plans. There were no defined swim drills to do, no broken down efforts for the runs (I don’t count saying to sprint 2-3 hills one day a week detailed), and the cycling workouts were too advanced for a novice. They did make changes to use TrainerRoad’s recommended cycling workouts for my second 70.3 (…which is free if you have a TrainerRoad subscription). You can find a much better plan on Training Peaks that will be more in tune with your goals. The ugly: After a year on the team, I noticed the trend that we were often promised changes that never took place. For instance, I was told multiple times that we would do team trail runs, track workouts, different swim workouts with drills written in. They put up a message in their team group saying that they’re open to hear what we were looking for as better coaches. I politely responded with some of the things I had been looking for in a private email and encouraged other teammates who were looking for change as well. One teammate responded first and told me her response from the head coach led them to believe that they didn’t care about our opinions at all and that they wanted to blame us for everything. I didn’t know what was said, but I immediately reached out to the one coach I trusted with my concern. This then blew up and merited a phone call with me and the coaches. The call: The call started with them saying, ‘I see how this all got thrown out of proportion. We posted that on facebook but weren’t looking for feedback.’. Then they proceeded to read through my feedback and gaslight me for 30 minutes where I tried to keep my composure. I’ll admit, when the lead coach said about halfway in, ‘Do you just want off the team?’, I lost my composure because at that time she hadn’t addressed anything I said and only told me I was wrong about everything and lying about what they had promised. I was genuinely upset because I had made so many friends on the team and knew that I had no choice but to leave. So, in not so nice fashion I confronted them on the lies and then left the team.In the end, I strongly do not recommend joining this team. I honestly debated writing this but find that cautioning others is more important. I wish someone had warned me.Oh, and if you’re looking to shop here for nutrition, beware, they don’t ever have anything in stock. You’re better off buying nutrition on amazon.
Datha Jackson: Playtri has helped my daughter numerous times with her wheelchair tires they are my life saver and hers they are always willing to go way out to help us I highly recommend them
Benjamin Murat: I brought 3 of our family bikes to them; after 2 weeks they estimated the prize to more than 150$; I did not want to fix any of them ; they still charge 15$ each just to review, and front office lady could not give the reports for the details…so pay 45$ for nothing BASICLY…;((
Russell Primeaux: Getting road ready has never been easier. Great and friendly staff will go back for sure !
Raiya Jensen: Very friendly and helpful! My bike's brakes got beat up while moving and it needed a tune-up anyway, so I took it here. They did an excellent job, and it rides great again. Thank you!
Jim Ward: I'm very frustrated with Playtri, Kestrel and Bikesdirect. I purchased a new Kestrel carbon fiber tri bike from Bikesdirect with the understanding that it would be 80% to 90% assembled, remaining assembly would be generally doable if you had some level of skill or you could use a bike shop, which and they recommended at a cost generally between $50 to $100. Totally misleading if not outright false. When I received my bike I searched online for assembly manuals and videos and learned Kestrel does not provide manuals to anyone other than their dealers. Additionally, they will not stand behind their warranty unless the bike is assembler by on of their dealers. This warranty is a big deal when purchasing a carbon fiber bike. All of this information should have been clearly provided to anyone considering a Kestrel. My first dilemma is that the nearest dealer is just under 250 miles from my home. Next, they charged me $200 to assemble the bike. I additionally spent another $80 in gas to get there and lost a day of my life. I've used the bike 3 times and whenever I attempt to shift to high gear the chain either comes off or it simply freewheels. I contacted Playtri with the hope that they would send me to a local shop and cover at least some of the cost if not all (as opposed to losing another day of my life and spending another $80 in gas). I would have expected a reasonable level of customer support at the very least. While they were polite and said it should be an easy repair, Playtri refused to cover any of the cost. Bottom line, this should not have occurred and they are not standing behind their work. I like the bike but the hidden costs continue to increase. Playtri, Kestrel and Bikesdirect will never see another dime from me and I definitely will not be shy about stating the reasons why.
Sydney Green: If I could rate under 1 star, I would. Absolute awful customer service. I was charged $137 for a wet suit rental, I attempted to bring it back less than 15 hours later due to a cancellation in swim event and I understood if they won't refund the entire rental fee, even though it was unused and less than a day later, but also would not refund the "cleaning fee" for an unused suit, that I was told would be refunded if it was brought back clean. The owner was very disrespectful toward me and I will NEVER shop here again. I work in the bike shop industry and would never want my customers to have such a terrible experience at my shop. Very disappointed in the staff and situation.
Greg Smith: I bought a bicycle from Costco and didn't feel comfortable with assembling the front tire and brakes. I called Playtri for assistance and they were very helpful putting my tire on and adjusting the front brakes and making a sure everything was in working order. Travis assisted me. He was extremely pleasant to work with and very friendly. The store inside looks fabulous. I would highly recommend Playtri to anyone needing help with assembling a bike or purchasing products from Playtri.
David Obenauf: The owner was great when I went in to buy a new bike for my daughter. He helped us find the right one, within our budget, and helped get it properly fitted to her. When my wife and I need to get new bikes I know where we'll be going.
Joe Leon: Awesome place and service! Travis ordered a wheel for my daughter's bike and mounted it for the same day I arrived to pick it up! Thank you!!
Stephanie Reed: They do professional bike fits and will look at how you run to recommend shoes. But the reason why I've been coming here for years is because the owners of this store are the nicest people ever! One day (I think in 2019) I was deciding if I wanted a Garmin watch and Anne let me try on her own personal Fenix watch to see how it worked. Reader, I bought it.
Gary Hiland: Went here Monday for some chain lube, first time. The employee came to help me, gave me some explanations of the different types of lube and we proceeded to exchange some anecdotes and short stories like cyclists do. I have had LBS employees kind of diss me before and act snooty maybe because I don't exactly look the part but this fellow was genuine and engaging. The shop is in a good location for me, better than having to cross I-29 or I-35 so I will definitely go there again.
Mark Fox: Went in for a tune up on my Batch bicycle. Travis dropped what he was doing and went right to work. He even spotted and fixed a couple of things I wasn't aware of. Great folks, great shop, you'll like them.
Julian Taylor: Highly recommend! Travis did a great job helping me with my tire!
Nicholas Bishop: Super friendly staff; helped teach me hands-on with my questions. A lot more MTB selection than I had expected!
Haley Haar: Great experience buying 2 bikes and getting one repaired. Customer service is awesome and very helpful!

Onestar Bicycles: what do users think?
Cole Thompson: Good bike shop, good people, I bought a bike there and I’m very happy with bike.
Scott Poelzl: These guys know what is best for you when it comes to you and your bike(s).
R R: The owner an his wife are trash stay away from them privileged supremes. They don’t like people from around that neighborhood from other ethnicities
Trevor Stark: This is the best bike shop in the city.If you’re looking for the best service and industry knowledge around, go here.5 Stars for Onestar.
Garrett Miller: The guys at One Star are great to work with. Very knowledgeable about all things bikes and accessories, tons of high end inventory, and friendly/responsive. I enjoyed my bike purchase experience and plan to be a repeat customer going forward. Thanks for the great experience One Star!
Waleed Mubark: Small but nice shop with everything you need. Opening hours are very limited
the_Enduro_Brown MTB: Best bike shop! Great service.
TJ: Onestar routinely has a collection of some of the most badass bikes in the KC area. I've bought both a new and used mountain bike from here, and both have been great. Great collection of gear and components as well, always something cool to see in the shop.Definitely double check hours before going, well worth it.
Steph Adrales: New to the KC area and I wandered into OneStar to replace a flat tire and get my brakes checked out. They talked me through some tire options and were able to fix the brake no problem. I dropped it off in the afternoon and was able to pick it up a few hours later. Definitely will be back the next time I need parts or work done
Michael Lee: do not buy a bike from here. I bought one and within like a few months pretty much everything on it broke and they would not replace parts which were missing that should have came with it. Heres a list in order: hub, rotor, spokes, headset. I would really recommend you stay far away from here for you safety and welbeing as well as for not spending ridiculous amounts of money fixing things which could have been prevented with one small part.
Jeremy Ruzich: Been coming to this shop for over a decade, since they were in Volker. I feel I can always trust them to know and communicate the best options for my bike and accessories and charge fair prices.
Cole Singbeil: Stellar shop
Derek Unruh: They don’t answer the phone
Scott Bourland: This evening I found myself five miles from home with a flat tire and no spare tubes. As I was carrying my bike home I saw the door to this shop open, though I knew it was too late for them to be open. I knocked on the door and asked if I could pretty please with sugar on top buy a tube. He could have easily told me that the shop was closed and he was leaving but he grabbed me a new (700c with Schrader valve) tube and brought his floor jack over and I was back on the road in less than five minutes flat. Much appreciated, Onestar, you have earned five stars.
Tyler Epstein: This shop is a long drive for me and with the hours I work it's hard to get down there but when I am able to get down there it is always worth it. They have built a few wheels for me and have worked on several of my bikes. These guys are good people and genuinely love bikes. Like some of the other reviews said, they are not going to nickel and dime you. They just love bikes and are EXTREMELY knowledgable when it comes to bikes. They will also shoot you straight which I respect. Thanks for all you guys have done to keep my bikes running which has allowed me to keep riding. I appreciate you!
Rich Davis: My girlfriend Maggi and I stopped in to talk about ebikes. When we left we felt like Britton confirmed most of what we had researched and provided his expertise and recommendations to best match our goals and needs.
Forrest Schaeffer: The best place to go if you're serious about your bike, the quality of work, and straightforward people.
Steven Garcia: Best bikes, best service, best mechanics, best bike shop in town.
Gov TaxSerf: Sign says closed, though I seen a customer leaving as I got there. The guy working there said he was not open for business, but I saw otherwise.
Mike Lacy: Called Onestar about an issue with my frame and they were able to get me in that day and take care of it for me at an unbelievably good price. Great place with a cool vibe
Peter A: Awesome shop, helped me time and time again. Finally buying a new bike and it's definitely coming from them!

Elite Cycling: what do users think?
Wes Renfrow: Got the perfect bike here!
Brian Heikes: Bought my gravel bike and road bike here. Excellent help in picking the right bikes for me. Great help with everything you need.
Brynn McCan: Bought my first cycling bike from Elite a year ago. The shops service and knowledge was beyond helpful as a newbie. Still love the bike (and fit) a year later. And still visit the store routinely for new gear and guidance. Fantastic bike shop!!!
Jonathan Yen: Bought my bike at the height of the pandemic in 2020. I sold it today and discovered that I paid MSRP for a 2018 model. It would have been fine if it was disclosed up front given the inventory shortage, but they portrayed it as brand new. I guess my fault for not asking specifically what year the bike is...As another user also mentioned about his non-white experience, I too am non-white and got a cold welcome. The salesman was hesitant to show me the expensive bikes and tried to steer me toward the cheaper bikes.
Bradley Stowe: The shop helped me trouble shoot my tubeless road set up. Very helpful and generous with their time! Highly recommend.
Peter Carney: Excellent service! Daniel was awesome to work with. He was really patient even though he had a ton of other work to do. I saw him interact with another customer who he knew by name and was genuine and interested in him personally, not just to sell product.I look forward to going back!
Jon Diller: Great bunch of folks — very helpful with small service items, polite and honest. Cool selection of bikes and gear.
Christopher “Buzz” Harsch: My favorite bike shop.
Adam Spence: Amazing team! After my tire exploded at the bar across the street (all my fault), Elite came through and fixed it before lunch was over. Top notch!
Evaristo Ardila: Buen servicio a pesar de no hablar español me ayudar con lo que necesite 🤝☝☝👍👍
Overlanding Family: Love this place! They were fast, communitive, and fair priced for the quality of work and products they have. I would highly suggest giving them a try. Had a full tune up and new tubular tires put on my road bike.
Trent Austin: I have to say the staff at elite cycling have literally changed my life. I used to bike to work many years ago but after a very close brush with a trailer truck and subsequent ditching of the bike into the bushes to avoid probably fatal collision I'm too scared to ride on the road even trails. I was talking to one of the staff at elite Scott who said I could ride virtually in the world of Zwift. I went to the shop they set me up with the wahoo kickr snap and this is the result so far in 2021. Again to top it off I had to get my bike tuned up and I was thinking I leave it while I was away this weekend but they tuned up my bike the same day. I own my own business and no just how the quality of amazing customer service they provide. They have a customer for life now thank you so much for all you do elite cycling!!! ❤️🙏🙏🙏👍
morgan snell: Two associates helped me at different times with all I was looking for and answered all of my other questions. Bought a helmet and footbeds. Super helpful and knowledgeable. My new go to bike shop!
Christian Molica: Great Shop! The team at Elite is very helpful. They are willing to take time with people new to the sport.
M Wolfe: Knowledgeable and helpful staff. Excellent bike selection alongside of lots of accessories.
Paul K: Open with in store shopping. Good selection of bikes.
John Oeffner: Helpful and tend to have just what I need.
Felix Baquedano: Great service, well stocked, and knowledgeable people
Victoria Henley-Moll: My experience at this store wasn't the best. Having never been to an actual bike shop before, I was a bit nervous to begin with before ever entering. We were immediately greeted and I was asked what I was looking for, which was nice. I explained what I wanted and I think based on how I was dressed (casual), the salesperson showed me the cheaper bikes and kind of listed off the more expensive bikes as if he knew that they were out of my budget (which he never actually inquired about). I went to other bike shops in the area after leaving this one, and did not have the same cold experience at all. The funny thing is, I would have purchased a bike from this shop, and probably not a cheap one, had the customer service been better.
Waleed Mubark: It's OK, but not all bike size avilabal
John Nguyen: Great bike shop! I've never been more comfortable on my bike after a Retul bike fit with Daniel, it's worth every penny. Just had a full service tune up, bike looks and feels brand new!

ERIK'S - Bike & Board: what do users think?
Nick Curtis: Well-staffed, knowledgeable and enthusiastic. A great bike shop with lots of selection.
foodlove cafe: The guys that helped me were gracious and knowledgeable.
Daniel Luksa: They were open on a Sunday when most other bike shops were closed and I needed a new tire to (hopefully) salvage a long weekend of riding.Erik's had the tire I wanted, and I figured they'd be able to help me seat the bead of my tubeless setup. Most bike shops will do it on the spot inexpensively/free when you purchase a tire and it takes less than 10 minutes.I re-taped my wheel and re-installed the valve (half the labor of this task), brought in my wheel and asked them to seat the bead of my new tire (this part requires an air compressor, I don't have one). They brought my wheel to the back and told me it would be ready early in the day the next day, and would cost $30. Completely silly, I should've said no thanks. The next afternoon, I stopped by after work to pickup my wheel and it still wasn't ready. Now very silly, but I am assured I am next in the queue for repair. Three hours later, Erik's texts me to let me know that my wheel is ready. Totally fair, the person in front of me must've needed thermal plates on their Space Shuttle replaced.I expressed dissapointment upon checkout but the clerk was dismissive and said it's summer and they have a lot of bikes back there. But now $30 and 30 hours later, I've got a tire with a seated bead. Most bike shops will do this in 10 minutes, and plenty of them would do it for free/cheap if you're buying a $100 tire. The biggest bummer of this story is that I missed a gorgeous day of riding.Do not bring your bike to be repaired here.
Zandor Fivethousand: Friendly staff.
Richard Campbell: Had a punctured tube and a minor brake adjustment. Brought in on Thursday June 8, service tech said since it was minor repair they’d probably have it ready either later Thursday or Friday morning at the latest.I called Friday PM, hadn’t started working on it. Called Saturday PM, hadn’t started working on it. Gave up calling as I was told we’ll call you. Finally Monday the 12th at 6pm, it’s ready. New tire, but brakes still feel squishy, same as when I brought it in. Really don’t want to bring it back in and have it sit there another 5 days.Main issue is not to over promise and underdeliver.
Katie Hull: Incredible service! Helpful beyond what I expected. THANK YOU!
Aniko Giampetruzzi: I was very satisfied with my bike repairs. I was impressed with the staff at Erik’s, very knowledgeable, and they really listen to your concerns about your bike. If they don’t think you need a specific repair they will tell you instead of charging you for a repair that is not needed. I was told I might need a new cable but in the end they said my bike looked pretty good and the cable didn’t need to be replaced after all. . I will definitely be bringing my bike to Eriks for future repairs. Thank you! Oh and they cleaned my bike up so nice! That was a plus😀
Loren Saunders: Great service with reasonable prices and finished my repair days earlier than originally predicted. Couldn’t have been better.
MIchael Somers: Helpful and steered me in right direction
Toby Katowitz: We were greeted promptly and given many options based on our needs and wants. Great staff!
Cody Clinebell: Came in to learn about road bikes for triathlon. Spoke with Tyler. He was awesome! Super knowledgeable and kind. I ended up buying clip on shoes and pedals
Mark Boyer: Service was speedy, helpful and technically informative. And the price was right.
NotQuiteSure OfAnything: Great, quick service. Had a wheelset trued, fast sameday service.
Leigh Jefferson: 5/22/23 Just had repair work done and they left a critical part off; they took care of the issue this morning and apologized thank you!!
Brent Sear: typically friendly workers that care more about helping fix a bike problem than trying to upsell you on their merchandise.
Shauna Slade-Booth: Excellent customer service and one of the specialists helped us fit my son's new bike in our car.
Justin Simpson: I was looking for a new saddle. Bill and the guys went above and beyond to help me understand so many things about them.
Brandon m: We nailed it with the guess on the bike bag! Thanks a bunch!!!!
Melanie Hardison: The flat tire on my bike was assessed and repaired within 10 minutes—as a walk-in without an appointment. I so appreciate the quick and responsive service. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Thank you!
Sherri Albin: We came up on Sunday and brought our 2 Aventon Pace 350 and 500 up for service. Figured we would have to make another trip up since we live out of town. But their service department had it done a few hours later! Thank you to the service department! Two very happy customers!Sherri and Kelly
Doug Easterwood: Everyone I interacted with seemed very knowledgeable and helpful with the purchase of my new electric bike... which I'm extremely happy with!
