No food at this venue, but allowed to bring in food from other places within the Power & Light district. Very good after-party location to continue an evening after a T-Mobile Center (formerly Sprint Center) event. Very close to the free trolley stop as well.

Cherrelle Crawford: We came here for Mothers Day brunch and I was truly disappointed. There wasn’t much of a selection on the buffet. No waffles, pancakes or crepes of any kind. The potato’s were cold and the only thing that I really enjoyed was the omelette station. At first the waitress seemed nice but you could tell he was overwhelmed because we would have to keep reminding her about drinks, she messed up our bills.

Kayla Jones-White: There was a black male bartender with pink hair who falsely accused my family and I of attempting not to pay our tab. I spoke to the Manager and he ultimately allowed us to stay in the establishment but the ordeal was humiliating. Especially considering we were coherent, and tipped will the entire night and paid our bills promptly. This is a night club that I frequent, but the manner in which I was treated by the black male bartender with pink hair was completely unacceptable and unwarranted.
Laneé Stro: I went to Ale House for Memorial Day weekend with my family to commemorate my late grandmother and a Black male bartender with pink hair accused my family and I of not paying for a tab. We eagerly tried to show him the invoice via bank statements on a phone, but he refused to service us and ordered security to remove us from the establishment. I have never been treated so poorly for something I didn’t do - and when we attempted to calmly explain ourselves we were accused of arguing. My cousin did talk to the manager who ultimately did say we could stay in the bar, but we were so humiliated that we just left.

Nanette R: Perhaps it was an “off night”…. as the other couple we were with mentioned they had dined there before and their first experience had been better. Our reservation had been made one month prior for 7:30 pm on 4/21/23 and we were seated immediately at a four top in the middle of a row of similar tables near the front windows. We asked a few questions about the wine list and the server seemed irritated. My husband ordered a Jameson on the rocks and the pour was minuscule. The appetizer we ordered was FANTASTIC …. Goat cheese tart … and was the best part of the meal. We all ordered the trout and the double smash burger for our entrees. The trout was good and the burgers were adequate…my bottom bun was cold (as though it had recently come from the refrigerator or freezer. ) The service was not good and the gentleman that was taking care of our table seemed irritated the entire evening and rarely stopped by. The strangest part of the evening occurred when the hostess came to our table before our entrees were served and said that we needed to finish up as people with reservations would be arriving ! We told her we also had a reservation and had only been there 45 minutes and she realized her mistake and left. She never returned to apologize for the misunderstanding which should have occurred. All in all it was a disappointing experience. As I stated … perhaps it was an off night for everyone we encountered there….but it was unfortunate. I think I would possibly return for a glass of wine and the goat cheese tart in the bar area but not for another meal.

Brandon Dockins: I was very disappointed at the time I was refused service due to my lack of being vaccinated even though I had natural immunity ( which real science shows is ALWAYS better than a vaccine).There was “no science at least not peer reviewed with controls)rather fear driving the hysteria. All world renowned scientist who dared to question were silenced or call quacks. We now know getting and transmitting the virus is not only possible but probable in the vaccinated, as well as mask do little if anything to reduce spread (Minimal research will locate Dr. Fauci’s own study on mask and 1918 Spanish Influenza, as well as his press conferences at beginning of Covid. It is unfortunate that fear gripped (was fanned) and not many questioned (as science does) anything. Wearing a mask until you sit down? The virus doesn’t spread if your sitting? This further separated us all and drove a wedge in an already fractured society. I believe their intentions of denying me entry were good, however misguided. My hope is that in hind sight that lessons were learned so as to not repeat if and when another emergency comes our way. I wish the establishment, the owners, and employees nothing but good , truly.
Gabriel Olsen: My wife and I went for dinner last night and loved it. I hadn't been since pre-covid, so it was great to finally be back. Decor, dishes, glasses, all are interesting and unique, nothing run-of-the-mill or corporate. Service was perfect - attentive and knowledgeable, but not pushy. Gave a GREAT recommendation on one of their negronis, which was delicious. Apps, meal, and dessert were all also delicious. Menu isn't expansive, but I'll take a smaller menu w/ lots of deliciousness over a bunch of so-so options. We will make a point to go back in another few weeks to enjoy the patio once it warms up! Highly recommend.

Nathaniel Williams: This bar has come a long way since it opened. The food is now amazing! We had some appetizers, the mushroom polenta dish and the duck breast. All were quite amazing. Some of the best duck I’ve had in Kansas City. The drinks also have continued to improve! We loved the rotating punch and the flip #4.I feel like the service let’s down the rest of the experience. Also a bit dark of a restaurant in my opinion. I get the moody speakeasy ambience but this restaurant/bar seems confused at what it is trying to be. I hope they continue to improve, the new chef and focused menu, with the drinks could make this place a real powerhouse in KC.
Ms. Lisa: The ambiance was really good. I appreciated that they snuck us in between reservations and was really clear about time, so they people who actually made a reservation wouldn’t have to wait. I was drinking the house gimlet, which was interesting. Didn’t expect it to be Amber in color.Service was good and prompt, everything flowed well.I only gave 3 stars because their plates are tapas, not entrees. Very tiny portions on the trout, lamb, and duck breast… however they were very flavorful. We were looking around and noticed we were the only ones who didn’t order the burger, so maybe that’s all you should get there if you are hungry.I got the Carmel carmelized apple dessert as well, which had feta in it and it was very delicious. I’d go back for just cocktails and/or burger.

Brianna Raakman: This place is extremely dark. I could not even tell when I entered which tables were free because it was so dark. They only had QR code menus and it was too dark for my phone to scan it. The layout of the space was not great because the band is right at the entrance so only a couple tables can see the band the rest are too far away. Yes the live music is nice but the aesthetic of the room was not my style and it made it difficult for me to stay and enjoy it.

If you are stamping the back of your patrons hands with a light highlighter yellow stamp, of course it is going to wash away instantly when you wash your hands after going to the restroom. If your expectation is that a patron show a stamp to get back in, stamp on the wrist with a dark color and please find someone to work the register who understands that people wash their hands after using the restroom.
Jordan Glass: DO NOT give this bar your card to start a tab. Only use cash! They put other peoples' drinks on our tab all night. When we told them it was incorrect at the end of the night, they claimed to have fixed it, but they didn't. We were left with a fraudulent bar tab and they don't return phone calls to to fix it. Extremely unsafe and unprofessional with financial information!Update as of January 27, 2023, I emailed the owner after he left the reply to my review, which was 4 months after I left the original review so the 3-5 day comment was invalid. I have never received a response so please do not give your credit card information to this bar!
Nikki Inocente: Came here because we heard they had fish bowls and were super excited! We came in and there was absolutely no one in the bar. It was definitely cold so we chalked it up the weather. We found a place to sit and then a few of us went to order said fish bowl and were informed, "we don't have those." And after asking for what they did have the bartender just said "we're a plastic cup bar." ???? We got some basic drinks after a few more "We're a plastic cup bar comments." They were fine, but I don't know why the bartender emphasized the plastic cup part when they still charged $10 a drink... while we were ordering the rest of our party was informed we weren’t allowed to sit down because only "VIPS" can reserve the tables (that wasn't marked or indicated anywhere) and we could either stand or go outside in the 25 degree weather. AGAIN, there was no one in the bar, so I would argue we were VVVIP, but whatever. We downed our basic drinks and left. This place is not worth it and looking at the other reviews now, they don't seem to be getting any better.

According to security, I was "too aggressive" towards my friends (which was immediately denied BY my friends, mind you) and was made uncomfortable enough where I knew I wasn't welcomed. I have never in my life been in a place of business where I was harassed until I left. They never asked me to leave, but they made in known that my blackness made them uncomfortable. I would like to emphasize that I was the only one singled out in my group of friends and conveniently, they got the only other black person that worked there to harass me. They knew exactly what they were doing. Absolutely terrible experience. If I could give Shark Bar zero stars, I absolutely would. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY HERE. Also the drinks were bad. Really bad. Like, I ordered a gin and tonic and that glass was all gin man. So not only are they racist, but they can't even make a decent drink so... big yikes.
Nelu Gamart: Nice music,nice people,nice bartenders but this lady ruined everything,the way she was grabbing people to get them out of the bar was crazy!
Bertholomew Vu: Booth was pretty cheap comes with one bottle and infinity refills on juice. Very diverse crowd, the dj was very interesting the music was all over the place it was very hard to groove lol ... if you get the last booth next to the balcony door beware you are under the leaky A.C unit

Inter Vest Com: Very fun nightclub bar in the center of power and light district downtown Kansas City Missouri which is world class.
Sarah Ford: Terrible crowd, terrible cover, and couldn't get a drink here as a female- the bartenders wouldn't look at us. We had to send our guys to the bar to get their attention.

KC: Boyfriend and I came here, to celebrate for my birthday. We aren't locals, so I also know we kind of looked out of place but I feel like we were intentionally looked over. We stood at the bar for over 10 minutes and did not get any help. Bartender kept helping others, who looked more like party goers than us. She kept looking at us but never helped us. We ended up leaving and going to another bar. Don't recommend , this place isn't too friendly.
