They even let me borrow one of the computers to fill out an online PDF and print it in their lobby. I knocked off one star because the guy who helped me last time didn't check my wife's last name when he was filling out a check for us.
Roy McDaniel (Roy): No way these negative reviews are the whole truth. I went in for the first time yesterday, my work just fired Bank of America for horrible customer service. So I walk in, with several days worth of deposits, no deposit slip, no nothing, all I know is the account name, the gentleman, I think it was Jake, instantly knew what I needed, grabbed all my deposits, got it done, gave me the slips. Fantastic service, I went from anxiety to calm quickly. Super clean, modern. Wonderful staff. Cookies and good coffee if there is a wait. Well staffed. (Jake not pictured)
Brian Buckley: Nothing but good things to say about the South Plaza Branch. The employees are knowledgable and friendly. I went in to transfer money between accounts and roll over a CD. I was in and out in 10 minutes. Much better than the traditional bank I used to use. The office is large and looks great. The only critique I can offer is that it's hard to make a left turn onto Main when exiting due to cars parked on the street and not being able to see oncoming traffic. Perhaps a no parking sign 10 feet or so from the exit would help. That's a minor gripe; all around, an excellent credit union and an excellent location.

Elizabeth Giles: I would not recommend Community America as a mortgage lender. After ongoing unprofessional communication from our mortgage advisor and processor, we arrived at the title company on the day of closing and learned that Community America needed additional documentation related to an easement. This was never communicated to our agent or to us even though Community America acknowledged having found out about it days earlier. Processor refused to take any responsibility and the mortgage advisor never answers his phone. As a result, closing is delayed. Zero stars.

Michael Mora: Made a cash deposit and the atm excepted the money and seconds later the screen shut off. The whole system rebooted for 12 minutes so I waited btw it was raining while it still had my card and after it did all that there was no sign of my transaction. Now I have to dispute this and prove that I even put money in. 3-5 businessdays they say. Great atm definitely recommend this one smh.

Fj Lammoglia: do not use this CU if you expect full service banking, consider an alternative. they are ready to take your business but poor customer service after that point. there is no option to speak with a person in an emergency situation. two separate bank officers misled me when opening account in so far as checking overdraft protection ( which they don’t have ), accessibility, etc. ( liberty branch flintlock and 152 highway ) haven’t had this poor a service from a bank/credit union since before i finished my career training (1992)

Jam L: Wenton Saturday at noon to deposit checks. Line inside was to the door and short staffed. Drive thru is now machine only and wouldn't let me deposit checks. It's a Saturday which is one of if not the busiest. Why wouldn't more staff be on hand and bring back full service at the drive thru

rob drasba: Applied for a HELOC type loan. All info given. Almost 3 weeks later they ask for more info which is fine, Info given to them within minutes. 2 weeks later and 2 emails from me still no word from the bank. A visit to the bank a week later and we were approved almost a month ago. No one contacted us ever. We wait another 2 weeks and visit in person again. This time we are told the under writing needed account info for extra to be deposited. Given... 2 days later they say the application is frozen because it's past 60 days. The next day they call saying that we need a whole new application including a new credit run a new appraisal and we have to wait all that time again. We gave they all info in a timely manner and tried 4 times to get any info and got nothing. The fed raised rates by 50 points 5 weeks after we applied. Now we magically need to redo our application and take another credit hit???

Laura Raines: We have been CACU customers for years. When starting a business we stayed here due to the ease of access to our money in either account. Since their last update, it has created so many unnecessary hiccups and issues when trying to get money from one account to the other, unless I go in person, because there are no people at the window anymore and now there is always a line in the lobby. For personal banking and loans it’s been fine but after these updates we are looking at other banks to switch our accounts to that can handle all of our accounts and are willing to give us easy access to the money we work for.

Since our move to Texas we did not close our CACU accounts because CACU made banking transition easy provided with a list of Texas cooperative branches and with online banking. Compared with Chase and their lack of customer 'pay outs' & lack of credit union benefits, we've not had banking problems with CACU, so why change, it's not broken.Bonus info: CACU reached out to my husband because of 2 large shopping transaction, they wanted to know if I was ok and check that the shopping expenses were not fradulant (stolen card).I, personally, appreciated that call.Sarah, at the Flintlock branch, she waves/greets us when she sees us. Everyday there are baked cookies and this past Friday they had KC red cookies. Go get yours.

Nick Bruns: Horrible customer service. Tried cashing a check insurance mailed and was told to have all 3 people sign it and they would call to verify it was okay with them. Go back the next day with signatures and am told that that information was wrong and that I needed all 3 of us there with IDs. Not feasible as everyone works different schedules and when I tried to talk to the lady about it, she was down right rude. Went to Chase bank and they cashed it with a smile on their face. CACU management needs to have a customer service training with their peopleTold wrong info and they were extremely rude and shrugged me off. Done with CACU. Recommend Chase bank right down the road. Way better customer service.

What kind of FINANCIAL INSTITUTION does that? It's literally the ONLY thing you exist for! What else do you do besides financial services?? You guys went out of your way to deny me service. Incredible!You know this place is bad especially because I have no trouble getting quarters from Quiktrip but you guys wanna make things impossible! They are a gas station and do your own job better than you!

So much so that I opened an account with another bank that has the old fashion person to person drive thru - not electronic screens. Slowly I will shift!!

Sue M: Doing business with Community America Credit Union is such a pleasure! Whether you visit the lobby, ATM or online they’ve made things incredibly easy to navigate, and for this 73 year old….that’s a HUGE plus! AND they support our Chiefs!!! It doesn’t get any better than that.
Jessica Douglas-Trombino: I love the location and service but they seriously need an awning other their ATM. also the layout of the lot trying to get out after going to the ATM is too tight for big vehicles.
Jerah White: I've had an account with this credit union for almost 25 years. I currently hold a Mortgage/Credit Card/Money Market/Checking and Savings with them and I've had auto loans as well. It was an amazing institution at one time and unfortunately I often find that it has done nothing but go down hill with its growth and success in the KC market place. Back in the day they would literally remove over draft charges for long term customers with no problematic history. These days they don't pay squat to save money with them and will quickly charge you more than you've made in 2 years on a money market account if you dip below whatever number they have in place. It's just sad how greedy a neighborhood credit union has got. They might be better than the big banks still but there's not much difference anymore. I would be hard pressed to recommend them over another at this point, they are basically the same now.

The first time I went in there, I sat down and talked with one of the bank officers to open an account and to help me get my credit score up. I walked out of there with a checking and savings account opened and took out a secure loan. This ended up helping me to build my credit back up nicely. Always friendly staff!
Art Of Stew: I recently moved to the area, and hoped to find a decent credit union. The ratings and reviews for this particular credit union were highly rated so I proceeded to send in the application to open an account. I've driven to the bank twice in an attempt to open the account in person, only for them to tell me to call the store or, that a membership specialist would contact me asap. I have called four times waiting on the line until the system kicks me off, with no answer, nor was I called as promised. Frankly, I'm very disappointed with my experience.

Jacob: Love this bank but why can I not speak to a human on the phone?! Only an automated message and told to go online. VERY annoying. It’s called “Community”.
Jon Trainer: Staff was friendly enough. My problem with community america is that they charger for cashing checks if you donot have an account. I have considered banking here but i have found that banks that charge for that typically have more hidden fees. Also there are no regualations that require 2 forms of identification. Its redundant to do so. I also do not like that the drive through windows go to someone behind a screen and atm. This requires you to go inside to cash said check.
Kathleen Williams: I have been a member since the late 80s. I've financed my house and two cars through Community America because they gave me the best rates. I like the fact they don't charge you all kinds fee and share profit's at the end of the year.
Jas Go Get It: Called to get an overdraft fee removed from a charge that was fraudulent and incorrect. The teller mentioned that this is a courtesy and that the next time I will have to ask for the merchant to refund me my overdraft fee (which would NEVER happen)! Then mentioned that I’ve had $168.00 in fees reversed. First, if they were reversed they were justifiably so. Second, compared to all the fees they have gotten that $168.00 is chump change! What about common courtesy and understanding that mistakes happen with accounts. Poor customer service overall and after what I experienced today I will not be using this account from this day forward! They’ve already robbed me blind with the fees I have paid! Screw them!

david valerio: Moved out of state. Debit card was compromised, i have now been waiting 3 weeks for my new debit card. First time i was told it’d be 5-7 business days. After 2 weeks passed i called and they told me they forgot to send it. They then told me they would expedite the debit card and i’d have it in 3-5 business days. After waiting another week i called and they told me that they couldn’t even confirm if it had been send as it was a “sticky situation” 1) what’s so “sticky” about sending me a new debit card? 2) if my bank cant tell me where my debit card is WHO CAN?

I’m down on my luck and I reach out to them for help and they refuse to help me in any way. I just don’t understand why they chose to be this way. I’m really disappointed with them.
Chelsea Cooley: I have never been so frustrated with Community America in my life. Walked into this location and was waiting in line. Watched Mexicans walk in after me and they walked to a counter and then someone helped them before others that had been waiting for awhile because she was bilingual. They should have to wait in line like everyone else. Then, another woman finally decided to help me, and tried to put me on a computer after I told her I needed a new debit card because it was compromised. Then she proceeded to ask me the same questions when I already gave her the answers. She wouldn’t let me choose the picture on my card. Even though I’ve been told many times I can when I come into a branch. I live an hour away from the branch. The fact that I had to drive an hour and get treated like complete trash is reason enough to never bank with Community America ever again. I also told her I needed to cash a check and she never did that for me.

I like the option to sign up for appointments online for more in depth appointments.I chose this credit union for a couple of reasons. I prefer credit unions to banks. It was close to home. And it sponsored the Seven Days event. The location was clean and modern. Every one we spoke with was nice. They offered water and cookies. I was impressed until I found out that inside they don't have people tellers, but computerized tellers. I guess I might be old fashioned, but one reason I like CU over a big bank is the personalized service. You can't get that from a computerized teller.
