C Wiiin: The new website is terrible. I can view my bill amount, but I can’t view usage. I also can’t pay my bill. The website says you can only pay open invoices when I click on the NEWEST invoice?!?!? Ridiculous. I’ll have to go pay in person. Also, $3.50 for paying by card? Greedy!

Jessica Mcclain: Does anyone know what I can do about this? IPL came to my house today while no one was home and pulled my back gate open. Breaking wood and ripping up my grass to get it open. Then drove a truck into my back yard and TORE UP my yard leaving tire tracks so deep all through my entire yard. Then left leaving my gate open and my dogs got out while no one was at home. I am sick over this and don’t even know who to contact about it. My back yard is a mess now 😞.
Jeff Herrman: Had to call to set up for average bill pay. Where other utilities like Evergy you can do that online. Was on hold for 35 minutes. The lady that answered was very nice but informed me that my balance had to be zero so you must call on the day that your payment for that month goes through or you can't do it
Stephanie Stanton: Wow, barely use any electricity and I'm charged 250 / month MINIMUM. Nobody can afford this. Then they are ALWAYS short staffed so where's my money going!? CLEARLY not to hire anyone to answer the phone because I'm currently on hold for over an hour to just report my bill was paid. The website is archaic, so clearly our 250/month bills aren't going to upgrade the web design. Maybe the amount of money we waste on electric bills (robbery tbh) should be looked at as inhumane.

Nathan Brenizer: Let me preface with what I'm about to say with this; I readily admit my faults, and I accept plenty of culpability with my current situation.As of today, Saturday March 25th, 2023, I currently have no power in my home, and for the foreseeable future, I won't have power until I can get together enough to pay what I owe. That said, we still have nearly a week until the "cold weather rule" expires, and within the next week, according to the forecast I am looking at, we will dip below freezing twice in that week. I was NOT given the 96 hour notice per the guidelines of the Winter Disconnections Guideline set by the Missouri Public Service Commission, and in fact when I respectfully asked the serviceman if I would get a door hanger tag or some other notice, I was rudely told they only did that during cold weather months. I was actually disappointed with this interaction because other instances, I previously had pleasant exchanges with these workers.In regards to the office staff, in terms of yesterday when I went to talk to someone, the woman was nice, and I had no issues. She was actually quite helpful and pleasant, all things considered, but that is not always the case. In fact I've often had problems with the attitude and lack of empathy. It could, perhaps, be due to the fact that in a city with a population of 122,000+ they seem to have less than 10 agents to operate customer service in:re billing. It's worth the gas regardless what corner of independence you reside in to go, rather than spend 45+ minutes on hold, only to deal with someone so thin skinned(in customer service?) that should you accidentally slip a 4 letter word into the conversation they can/will end the phone call.If the City of Independence cannot properly manage their utilities, they need to pass the baton to someone who can

Lisa B: To be exact negative ten stars.The only possible way a company could stay in business operating the way KC Water Dept. does is if they were a monopoly, which they are.The online payment options do not function. The automated phone payment options do not function.There is no I.T. department you can speak with and certainly no attainable manager to assist.Making it impossible to pay your bill will continually rack up the late fees and charges and there is nothing you can do about it other than contact the Missouri Commissioner. Oh but wait, I think that’s who the monopoly is regulated by.Is this really happening in the U.S.?WOW!!!Pathetic.
Robert Hughes: This company has cut off my water by mistake multiple times with no reason other then it was a mistake. They can not give a reason or fix for this to not happened again. The manager would not approve even a $5.00 discount for the inconvenience.

Philip Garnett: This is a criminal organization. They tried to force me to pay another Philip Garnetts water bill. I live in Washington State he lives in Missouri. I did own a small house at 319 N Walnut and overpaid my bill so they used my monies to pay the other Phil Garnetts bill. This is not just a mistake but a deliberate criminal act. I am going to contact the Attorney General in Missouri about this. They need to be audited and terminate those responsible.

If the mayor doesn't know about the customer service issue with this company somebody needs to be known and we do need to fire every single one and restart from the ground up or they just need to strict and get another company because they failed this city.

I call to find out why and I get the run around and told "that is not our department" (clearly KCMO water company trucks at the location) but can't tell me who's department it is! When I asked to talk to a supervisor I was told the supervisor won't talk to me and hung up on by an extremely rude "customer service rep".

I used to live in grain valley who got their water from indep and they added on charges as well as for trash and mybill was still under $50 a month. Now I pay almost $135 a month or more for water in my house and its just me and my son there, we don't use a lot of water either. I think someone needs to do something about this issue

Levi Thomas: Literally had to cancel a summer school program for inner-city kids last minute and had to sell stuff to pay the fees that had nothing to do with water usage and they themselves confirmed that no notification or warning was sent out.

Randall ANDREWS: I am a newer resident of KCMO. Of coarse mine did not hold so smooth with covid issues. I got behind and they turned off my water. I can honestly say there customer service skills if you can call it that. Absolutely appalling. No care or concern and they di it Friday afternoon so there is nothing you can do about it until Monday morning. Flash forward 1.5 months after paying golf of the bill water back on until guess what Friday afternoon. 1.5 months later water bill has now more than doubled. Yes doubled I call talk with a customer service representative explained my concerns about how it could be so high. They give me a number yo leak stoper and i stated I had already applied for assistance and was told that there was not a cut off day listed and I should be fine. Flash forward e days water is off on a Friday afternoon. I have no reciarse.

Charley V: I have water running through my basement from a broken service line. There is no shut off at the street. After a couple calls to water services dept. I determined they couldn't care less. I just need to locate and shut off the water to stop my house from flooding so that my plumber can run a new water line. Nope, they will get to it when they get to it. Could be today, could be two weeks. Meanwhile, I don't have any water other than the fountain in my basement. The silver lining from this is that my decision whether or not to move out of this city has been made.

LaFrance' Johnson: My experience with the City of Kansas City Water Department was outstanding! On Christmas Eve, I had a hot water heater replaced and the plumber broke the key to the City drain controlling my water line which left me without water! The City responded to my call and treated it as an emergency!!! The team worked from 6pm -6am (replaced a line) just to ensure I didn’t spend Christmas Day without water!!! They went above and beyond and I truly thank God for them!!! Thank you to all those faithful employees who worked hard at my address on Christmas Eve - Christmas Day!!! Your efforts were heroic!!! My bill seems to vary monthly but recently it had gone up over $100/month.Today, however, a woman named Carmen might be an angel on earth!!! As mentioned, I thought our water bill had jumped $100/month since Sept. She took the time to review our account, find the leak we repaired and file for an adjustment. I don't even know if I will get the credit for our account but the time she took and the fact she cared made my day!!!Thank you Carmen. Braden Price: Our neighborhood has been without water for a total of 72 hours over the last week and a half. (Not the first or even second time this has happened) Customer service was unable to provide any explanation but plenty of excuses. In the mean time my immunocompromised wife and I have to go to the grocery store to pick up water during a pandemic and are living in an apt with toilets that don't flush. It's delightful.
