Chris Leatherman: The old man that runs this location, is rude and decieve. First I went to pick up a truck, he did not have the right one. So we had to go to front street, and get the right truck. -- Flash forward, we returned the truck Full of fuel. I took pictures of the truck, all the way around. No damage at all. Get a call the morning after I returned it, he tried to call me a lier and say it was a 1/4 tank low. I said "No" I have pictures of the tank being full, pics where the truck was parked. Not on a hill as he claimed, on the side of the truck, pretty level ground, with a very slight incline. I would advise whoever rents from this IDIOT to take pictures of anything you return. Because sounds and looks to me, like he is a dishonest guy. That will try and get over anyway he can! Matter fact, avoid his business. The DM of penske made it up, and refund the extra amount.

Matthew Redinger: Everything was fine until my final bill came through. I took the vehicle back a whole day early and the guy at the counter said I’d get back my deposit PLUS money for bringing it back early. It never happened and when I called customer service they said the manager from the local store I went to would be calling me. THAT never happened. So I called the local store myself and the guy I talked to basically was no help. I finally got frustrated and ended the call with him. So basically I paid the same amount for 4 days as the amount they told me for 5 days. Guess I should’ve just kept it the extra day.

R W: Horrible customer service. They do not care about the customers. We had an online reservation at 5. They refused to accept it and turned us away. Now we have to delay our road trip a whole day.

I say yes he says well we close at noon so we can’t help you. I said if you close at noon why allow people to set a pick up time for noon then? He didn’t have an answer he just laughed and walked away. I didn’t appreciate his lack of customer service or willingness to help us. Do better and maybe change it to where on Saturdays you can’t set up a pick up for the time you close

We called customer service and they even admitted that the staff messed up by making calls first thing in the morning before they even checked last night's check ins. Nobody needs that additional stress during a move.

And the guy behind the counter said that they knew about the issue before they gave me the truck. Absolute nonsense. Beware.

Matthew C (Rox5tar01): I originally reserved a 28’ box truck and auto-transport trailer for my move. When I went to pickup the truck and trailer, I was notified that they had previously canceled my trailer since according to them, “we don’t do trailers with truck rentals for in-town contracts”. If that was the case,1. Why was I not notified before I arrived so I could make alternate arrangements?2. Why was I allowed to make that reservation online if it wasn’t allowed?In addition, the night I picked up the truck the battery had died, meaning it wasn’t charged like it should have been. I had the engine off for only an hour when it died, with only the interior lights on. Because of this, I had to spend multiple hours trying to locate a way to charge the vehicle (I lived out in the country and it was late at night).In addition, while not a major issue in of itself the truck was not as clean as it I would have preferred. Gum stuck to the floor of the cab, dirt in the back of the truck, broken interior trim pieces, etc. Overall u-haul made my move much more difficult than it needed to be, and had I not been in such a time crunch I would’ve canceled my entire reservation entirely.

Jared Martin: Don't go to this location. Had a reservation for a pickup truck from 8am-11am. Showed up at 7:55am and didn't get my truck until 9am because the workers were too busy talking to each other. They then proceeded to tell me that they would charge a late fee if I didn't return it by 11.

Sean McCue: Do not go to this location for a hitch install. 100% incompetence on every level. The poor staff know nothing, their install team is unaccounted for, and the manager is completely MIA. Save your time, money, and sanity and do not visit this depressing stretch of road in a godforsaken town.

Ty: I had a truck reserved at this location 2 weeks in advance. I received a call from a different location in Bonner Springs stating the Independence location was not going to have my truck available and I would have to drive to Bonner Springs, wich is a 40-50 minute drive, if I wanted a truck because apparently they only guarantee the equipment you reserve not the location you reserve it at! So with me already moving 120 miles away and having to pay a ridiculous $300 for their smallest truck, they wanted me to add extra time to my drive just to pick up the truck and get it back to the location where it needed to be loaded. To add insult to injury, I was offered a measley 30 miles at no cost!

Betina Steele: I rent a storage unit and can never access my unit in the mornings on the weekends. I have had this unit for months and EVERY WEEKEND is the same thing. All the guys standing around listening to vulgar music talking. I pay over 120.00 every month to be able to store and access MY stuff when i need to. I have to get in my car go back out the secured gate go up to or in the building to trll someone to unlock the door. It's not my job, that is what you pay them for.So simple to walk to the back turn the lock and done. PURE LAZY. And still here i am waiting for them to open the door 10 mins later.... I will be moving my stuff and continue to leave bad reviews.

Red Tiri: This place is by far my favorite!!! I was moving from state to state and encountered several issues with the location I was returning the truck and getting my storage. I then did research to find the location and it was the best decision. They not only handled my return situation, but Sam was able to work everything out regarding storage as well!! I will definitely only use this location now for any moving needs. I will also be recommending it to all my friends, family and strangers!!!!

Jay R: I was overcharged gas and an extra day even though I had refilled and turned in 30min early.Make sure you snap photo of the gas level, miles and vehicle conditions for your own records and to dispute in case you’re also overcharged.

Robby Casteel: This is THE BEST U-haul facility in the WORLD!I recently had to deal with 3 different U-Haul places. After a very disappointing experience at 2 U-haul places, This place went above and beyond to make my move go off without a hitch. This place was fast. They really knew what they were doing. They answered all of my questions, and even hooked up a trailer to another U-haul so I could test and make sure my truck would fit on the trailer safely.U-Haul needs to send employees to this place for training. They REALLY have their stuff together.

Andreas Schluttenhofer: Went here last year to have my propane gas tanks refilled quite a few times. All friendly and capable staff, helpful, polite and nice. Price beats buying a full tank exchange, also helps with not only 20lbs, but 30lbs± tanks. Seen a craftsman bringing in a 100lbs (or bigger, hard to tell) with a pickup truck. Tanks need to be standing during transport, so big tanks can't be filled and taken away with regular cars, 20 or 30 lbs-ers should be fine. Thanks U-Haul for excellent service, will be around soon, for another round of propane fill-ups.

The service that I got was a storage for 4 1/2 month while looking for an apartments and I rented before and after with a u haul truck and they were in excellent condition.
