Mills Record Company: what do users think?
Mr. Mizu: The selection is almost overwhelming. Fair prices. Friendly staff
Walley Brown: The lady that runs surprise is not very friendly
James Holmberg: Muzick Luvah nailed it.Hipsters have no taste yet they're taking over anything remotely connected to food, music, news and culture.
Jill Jerome: Drove 30 minutes to buy a $45.00 record with my very small children. My 4 yr old had to use the bathroom and they absolutely REFUSED to be kind enough to let her borrow their bathroom, even though I had just given them my business. So thoughtless
Laura Tessendorf: Great selection with lots of variety of music choices
Joel Vanderpool: I just started collecting Vinyl not that long ago, and heard about record store day and was pretty excited. Mills Record Company did not disappoint. They had the record I was looking for (How to Train Your Dragon 2 Record Store Day Exclusive) and all the staff was extremely helpful in lending me a hand to find whatever records I was in search for. I tried to get 2 Taylor Swift record store day exclusives but they wouldnt let me which I understood so I went back the next day and got another one for me seeing as the first one was for my niece. Mills Record Company will forever have my business. They were much better than another record stores I went to who was not helpful in the slightest and didn't have anything I was looking for.
Muzick Lovah: This is not the store to shop at. You will never see more than 5 people inside during the regular work week. It is only during events like Record Store Days where people line up and that is only because they are able to get the largest amount of copies to sell. If you have been on those days, do not be fooled and think that is normal for this store.Mills and its owner has gotten such a huge ego after being lied to and told they were the #1 store in Kansas City. They cater to one audience and one audience only and that is hipster music listeners and disregard all other customers. From hiking up prices, to not being knowledgeable on popular artists across all genres, the shopping experience at Mills lacks nostalgia and diversity. If you are looking for R&B, you won’t find it. Why? Because EVERY black artist other than jazz is listed as “HIP HOP” while blue eyed artists like Adele and Sam Smith take their place in the R&B section. Have a question? Yeah don’t bother asking anyone. Let google, discogs, or Amazon be your friends as no one here will answer. With the resurgence of vinyl records, you would think they would make sure that they are able to cater to every race, every genre, everyone period, but that is not the case. The owner lacks “soft skills” and I have seen people walk right out just because of it. I preordered a record before along with others I know and their copies were SEALED, yet I was sold an open one that they used for their instagram post and then they claimed they would never open a record. I told the owner and she rushed me off the phone and said “it’s either you return it for a partial return or keep it because I can’t get you another copy”Preordered another record that kept getting pushed back, when it was finally released, they didn’t look at the preorders and ended up selling my copy (that I paid for) and when speaking to the owner, she said “well I don’t know how I can get you another copy, I have other customers to tend to”.BAD customer services, leads to BAD reviews like this one. Do better! You are in the Urban core of Kansas City, yet far from URBAN and does not seem to care either. And I'm waiting for the owner to reply to this with a smart remark like she has others instead of changing.
Lyndon Smith: Make you wear masks in store, not complaining about that but it is the fact that said masks that they offered were disposable and have all been reused 🤢
josh jacobs: Not only is this place anti-science they are also very rude. It's a shame a business like this is in our community.
B C: Still requiring paper masks in 2023 is a hard no.
Candi Lion: This record store always has a good variety of albums and the staff is so friendly.
calder bischoff: Favorite record store in KC
Leslie Soto-White: The atmosphere, the vibe, the setup is simply perfect. This record store was the only one that had a record we couldn't find anywhere else. They had plenty of copies, too. We called ahead of time and they held it for us until we got there to pick it up.
Chandler Glasgow: Wonderful selections and knowledgeable staff. Found a lot here, it was great!
R L: Always good to check inventory via phone for me. Large selection. I don't visit as much as others in the area simply due to parking and the new arrivals are in a rack that my back won't hold out to try to go through (better for younger people or older thin people with good backs). Probably the largest inventory in the area.
Kelly Jordan: One of my favorite KC businesses! Always hidden treasure and used selection is very reasonable
Benjamin Spadt: Good selection. Helpful staff.
Brandon Norris: Covidiots still making you mask when transmission rates are low in KC. Anti science losers, and their selection is weak.
Brandon A.: Great selection but requiring masks in Oct. of 2022 was a little weird. Taking a star off for that.
Andrew Cochran: We stopped in here in the way back home to Milwaukee. The selection was amazing and the worker was incredibly kind and helpful. If we pass through Kansas City again, we’ll be sure to stop in again (though I think if we’re ever driving through the area in general, we’ll probably go out of our way to stop in).
Blake David: One of the best selections of curated new and used records for a pretty fair price. Employees are always friendly and welcoming. Could not recommend this place more!

Vinyl Heaven: what do users think?
v. joann Gillespie: Love the store and got the tom Petty Fillmore record going in a record frame. Tom Petty VCR tape. Got a few Rick Springfield records I didn't have too. The Dio record and a few more. And I really love the poster of tom Petty. Maybe I can one day find one like it. Enjoyed looking around and will be back again.
James Clingan: They keep good records of what I like
Derrick M: I've driven by this place a million times and never stopped because I don't even own a record player. The two guys there were nice if not a little awkward, maybe it's me? One of the guys gave me a business card to another place to shop for equipment which was a nice gesture. I saw an album by some guy named "Taco" and I would have bought it based on the name alone if I had a player. I came home and listened to "Putting on the Ritz" and was both happy and sad that I didn't buy it. Regardless, I saw lots of cool stuff and I'll be back.
ItsMeCamp: Not very good selection of records, but very nice people.
Mark Pickerel: The only hesitation I have giving this review is that more people would find out about the great selection and pleasant staff at this place! And I want it to myself, LOL.
David Owen: Fabulous clean collection. Planned my day to visit several record stores. Arrived at Vinyl Heaven first. Met Matt. Very knowledgeable and into music. Picked several records matching my interest. Spent all my money here and many other records I wanted. Never made it to the other stores. Happy Customer.
John Reece: It’s like taking a step back in time and remembering how to enjoy the little things in life! Great music is immortal and can lift one’s soul and life!
Bryan Burk: What a knowledgeable attendant and fair more than fair price on my vinyl I sold. No low balling and what an inventory on hand I couldn't be happier than I am with prompt service and fair price for my used lps. Thank you vinyl heaven for being there and for thesuper service you provided
Robert Yocklin: Went for the first time this weekend and ended up there twice for a return visit to snag an album I should have grabbed. Store is clean, the records are all in really good shape. The bins are fun to dig thru and the staff is friendly. Live in the Northland and it’s worth the drive out here. Def recommend!
nathan knepper: Just left after my first visit, highly recommend. Very personable staff, very nice little store, very fair prices, records I looked at were all in very good condition. Stop in and browse!
Aron Taylor: Vinyl Heaven has a great selection and I always find things I didn't even know I was looking for!
Andrew O'Neill: This owner is a tool. Buy somewhere else.
Brett Butler: Cool little shop, great selection and friendly staff!!
Marcel Richardson: Lots to see there!
Chad Thomas Johnston: If you tend to steer clear of smaller shops, thinking you'll fare better at a larger one, think again. I visited these guys last week in search of some choice Christmas presents on wax, and found some wonderful surprises. Lots of treasures to discover here at reasonable prices. Friendly staff offering guidance. Well worth the visit. I will return to this place—no doubt.
The big man: When my sister and I entered the store, there was no greeting or "can we help you find anything?" from the staff. Which I was fine with, until the next four or five customers who walked in after me were warmly greeted and asked if they were looking for anything in particular. I'm not sure if this was because he saw us as some "punk kids" or what his deal was. I also showed him a record I was wanting to sell and after looking it over and doing some research he offered me $3. I declined his offer, took the record to the next closest store and got $25 for it. I feel like most of the used vinyl there was overpriced and due to the way I was treated I won't be back.
King Shifter: Great collection of vinyl at good prices. Owner is a cool cat, as well.
Steve Ameling: Just went there for the first time today. Very nice shop with a great selection and reasonable, uninflated prices. Jeff the owner is very friendly. Will definitely be going back! And frequently now that I have a new turntable. :)
J Longhofer: Great shop, not your normal record store feeling, this store seems like it could pick up and move at a moments notice. They have something for everyone and the records are nice and shiny! Extra thank you to Matt for your kindness! See ya next time.✌
Kim Fortin: Nice selection!
Karla Kelley: I need several hours to go thru it all

Josey Records: what do users think?
Sam McLean: These guys used to be my favorite. I don't know what happened, but they aren't what they used to be. My last few visits have been disappointing. Lowballing on used records has gotten way out of hand, selection is not very good, and some items are bloated beyond reason. Pretty sad, probably won't return.
Kindle Thompson: Took my senior pictures here and they were very kind! 🏼
Dee W: All the music. All the knowledge. These peeps know their stuff!
Ashley Wellington: It’s a great record store with lots of selections from Yester Year to Todays music!!
Walley Brown: The people are great
Ross Brighten: Nice selection of new and old. Really helpful and friendly.
Cindi Hughes: Big selection, reasonably priced.Fun to look around and you never know, you might find that exact album you need to fill in your collection!
Kevin Hobbs: Really cool place. I could spend several hours and a bunch of money there.Found some awesome vinyl there
Timothy Hayes: Great store. Great selection. Larger than I was expecting. I was visiting from out of town and visited this store. Friendly staff and easy to get to location.
Carter Taylor: Great vibes, truly, and when I couldn’t find what I needed in the store I was able to order it from the website! Choose this over amazon any day.
Adrian Hall: Very good selection with knowledgeable staff
Roger Farrell: Large selection of records they're always friendly to help
82GMC Caballero: I’ve shopped here since they opened at the old location. Always helpful and fun place to dig and discover new music. Highly recommend Josey, not just for the records but the awesome staff too!
Isaac McManus: Great selection and friendly staff
Joel Shrader: Hadn't actually been there since they moved. Still a very nice store & good people.
Dan Bower: Goid stuff. Good variety, but was hoping to see more comedy albums.
Donald Martin: Vast selection of records and merch.
Steve Ameling: I know a lot of people love this place based on the reviews, but I drove downtown today to go there and just didn't enjoy the experience at all. Whatever modern rather hard-core rock music they were playing just did not sound good to me at all, and then they switched albums to something that sounded just as bad to me. And it's all played incredibly loud and on a terrible stereo system. Not everyone wants to be bombarded with whatever loud sounds you think are great, no matter what your taste.Generally if record stores have music on, it's just above background listening level to engage you but not force its way into your every thought if you don't like it. I left within 5 minutes and that was longer than I really wanted to stay. I tried. They may not always play very loud un-euphonic rock, I have no idea, but I'm guessing this is pretty normal there. Just wanted people to know so that they don't make the trip if this would bother them. Here's one of the reasons the really loud music bothered me so much. When I'm looking for records I want to be able to have the space in my own mind for music I love to come into my mind and then I'll go look for it. But I couldn't have that experience here unfortunately. I'm sure it's an awesome store for a lot of people though!
The Thyroids: Another stunning branch of the famed record store, with a wonderful selection of locals, underground and classics, and a friendly and caring staff.
Matt D: Really nice staff. Great selection and love the vibe.

Revolution Records: what do users think?
Mike Winchester: Very good record store
Hannah Lair: Great atmosphere
michael marchand: Really fantastic store. Not what you would expect from your local urban record store. Really great employees, fantastic selection and very clean! A+++
Cad: Standard urban vintage record store. Honestly, if you've been in one you've been in them all.Why do all of these places smell the same? It reminds me of my grandma's musty basement. lol I guess you could blame it on it being an old building, but then there are lots of old buildings around here that don't smell this way. It's just something about record stores, book stores, and curiosity shops in urban areas.Employees are what you'd expect. Close your eyes and picture a stereotype of the kind of person that works at an urban record store. Yep, that's exactly what they look like.
Nik Huffman: I find something awesome everytime. Most recently found the odd book I've been hunting for ages. The in-store music is always an adventure as well.
Michael English: Revolution Records has a good selection of vinyl records and CDs. The prices are good and the staff is helpful. Parking nearby is easy.
Mary Agee-McCully: Happy I went out of my way to find this little gem! Great selection!
Bobinamarie: Excellent curating of books and records. Many gems to be found here
Jeanna Marie: My 17 year old son loves this store but I’m not a huge fan. I do not think they have a great selection for me, a 70’s and 80’s music lover. I love the idea that they have a store cat but I do not love smelling a stinky litter box. I’ve been to this store multiple times and it always smells bad.
Mintymonkeynuts: Great place to find some records and a few other items to bring back the nostalgia
Kyle Herrenkohl: Great little shop with an eclectic selection of records, books & dvds
Monica McDaniel: I walk in and I'm not even acknowledged. Another customer walks in (seems to be a regular) and they have a full blown conversation.
Chase Miller: Great place to visit!
Mike: Took some old records in to see if I could get some money for them. The guy was honest with me and told me he couldn't sell them at this time. I appreciate honesty. Also looked like they have a great selection.
Dennis Wilson: Great variety, friendly staff. I found an autographed Spoon record. The autograph wasn't really what sold me but it didn't hurt.
Elisha McIntire: Awesome hometown record store. Never know what you will find.
Robin Nazaraean: The CEO, Eleanor (pictured here), was a very busy woman who made sure to make time to greet each customer. We love a woman of the people.
Finn McBath: Undoubtedly my favourite record store, amazing punk and metal section and the employees are always great to talk to. Always the highlight of my day when I get to see Jasper as well.
Elias Henderson: Great jazz section and plenty of rock. Cute cat too
Bonnie S.: This place has some real gems, and also some sweet stereo equipment. Very down to earth atmosphere. Plus there's a cat!
Tracy Slaughter: Need more used CD. But nice place.
