Heritage Music Repair: what do users think?
Gary Harts: Found just what I had been shopping all around for and the price was what I expected? Thanks for your help!
Ryan Ashley Davis: They were unable to help with my repair but offered other shops that they recommended
Daniel Bethe: This is the maestro. Heritage and BAC are world class, and can fix anything. We brought our wrecked French horn that had taken a bad trip down a metal staircase years ago, with a botched repair attempt elsewhere. Heritage smoothed the dents, removed the ruined old solder, added a new plate to cover the hole and reinforce the weak area, and cleaned the whole thing. They disassembled it, soaked it in an ultrasonic tank, and replaced the pads and strings. The new plate looks perfect, like the manufacturer had made it that way. All this took three weeks and $400.First, they'd spent about half an hour very very carefully assessing every bit of the horn, and talking about the whole project. With no sales talk, they explained the entire process down to the metallic molecules. Everything turned out exactly how they predicted. They generously spent as much time as we wanted, answered all our newbie questions so many times, for our piece of mind. i accidentally kept them after closing time for a total of an hour, without even buying anything on my first visit. They had a very nice mouthpiece upgrade for almost $100, which further improved playability. The horn is much better than even before the damage. It's the easiest $500 I've spent in a long time.It was a true honor to visit true master craftsmen and gentlemen, who have an attitude above the level of selling or of competition. Heritage and BAC are pals and they refer to each other for second opinions or whatever. People come from everywhere for these guys.
Jessica: Excellent people and wonderful service. Brian completely restored my flute for a great price. I'd recommend them for all your musical instrument needs!
James Korgie: Amazing service! I had my guitar dropped off for some work, they called me in to noodle around with it a bit to determine if any minor tweaks would be needed. It only needed very small tweaks to fit my style, and there weren't any additional charges. I would 100% recommend Heritage Music Repair to anyone looking for experienced technicians who care about going above and beyond!
Charles Haley: Their work is dependable and accurate, based on training and experience with the tools of the trade and a knowledge of resources. Musicians supporting musicians.
Shivam Tundele: Everything went well and it was appropriately priced except I had to follow up with them thrice and they delayed the repair by a week.
MC Realty Group: Heritage should be your first and last stop for ANYTHING instrument/music related. The owner is SO kind and really takes time to listen to his customers and is always willing to answer any questions. I've sold him several instruments and he's always very fair and honest. Love doing business at Heritage Music Repair.
Michael Johnson: Matt came through in a pinch and helped me tremendously when I needed last minute gear fixed on my bass before a show. The piece I had was faulty so he wasn't able to fully fix it, which is 100% understandable, but was able to get me in a good enough spot so I can play. He is incredibly knowledgeable and would highly recommend that you come to him for any gear questions. 10/10!
Max Barlow: I recently took a refinished guitar body there to have all of the electronics, hardware, and neck reassembled. Everything including the set up and new tremolo bridge worked well like new, in excellent condition. At the same time, I also brought in a phaser pedal to have a lead repaired. The battery power works excellent like no previous problem ever happened. Matt did an excellent job. He and everyone else there are professional and attentive. They seriously know what they are doing!
Matt Keeney: Great knowledgeable staff
slmjm54: Really nice knowledgeable people, great service, and a cool store.
Triggers & Trumpets: Awesome place to visit with amazing staff
Janice Lee: Great service.
Bill: Positive:Professionalism,Quality,Responsiveness,ValueI took my G&L ASAT Classic in to have the selector switch and the volume and tone knob and electronics upgraded along with the nut. He did a great job, did a great setup and it plays very well. Highly recommend this place.
David Winfrey: Positive:Professionalism,Quality,Responsiveness,Value
Monica: They seem focused on repairing instruments, and they did a fabulous job repairing my guitar.
Kris Fernald: Amazingly friendly and knowledgeable staff! Love this place!
Hetti Mcmillian: I had a guitar fixed here last week for an anniversary gift. It was professional, fair price and it was completed very quickly for how much repairs were needed. My fiance was ecstatic.

Fountain City Guitarworks: what do users think?
Matt Hopper: My 1997 fender Strat needed new frets. Replaced them with stainless steel jumbos. Replace the trim with a Wilkinson’s trim. Replace the nut and requested lumens for the side dots. They completely nailed it! My guitar plays in tune, sounds better, and feels better. Literally everything I was looking for. I take all my guitars to them. They’re super professional and great people! I’m so glad other guitarist in town were recommending them. We’re lucky to have them!
William Novotny: Exceptional work on bridge, binding and tuners for my Martin. Communication was open and honest, will be recommending them for all future work.
Brian Jordan Bartels: I can't recommend this place enough! The staff is friendly, professional, and knowledgeable, all at a fair and competitive rate. They've worked on five of my guitars and are now my go-to for repairs, maintenance, and setups in Kansas City.
Sarah Odle: literally perfect setup. every guitar I've played that these guys have set up just plays like a dream.
Richard Norris: Repaired a broken neck in my guitar. Can't even tell where it was now! Excellent work.
Holden Simpson: Super nice guys, and great work on my new Martin. They made it feel like it should.
Zack Hames: These guys are the best in the city. I’ve been taking my guitars to them for almost a decade and I’d trust no one else more with my instruments. They are easy to work with, incredibly knowledgeable, and beyond reliable. They’ve also built me two jazzmasters under their Seuf custom guitar brand and I’ve never played a better fender style guitar, not to mention they’re the best looking guitars in the world. They are true experts and run a first class business.
Jacob Culbertson: These guys performed a setup on a new Furch acoustic for me and did fantastic work. They were very easy to communicate with and gave me an estimate on the work to be done up front. The guitar, which already sounded pretty great, sounds even more amazing now. Can't recommend them enough to get the most out of your guitar.
David Miller: They did a great job with my Ibanez JS-1000 and after playing for 44 years, I'm picky. It is the best it has ever played after stainless fret install. They really listen to you even down to little details.....I'm glad they're in Kansas City, they have my business.
Joshua Tandy: Absolute top notch work. Got a setup and fretwork done and my guitar has never played better.
Valerie Miller: Flew in to play some gigs but my bass was out of whack! Called these guys for an emergency repair and they got me right in. A cool location AND these guys know their stuff. Awesome merch too, check them out!
danny embrey: Great Place! Fixed my electronic switch last minute before a gig.
James Watkins: I have a rare and highly sought after vintage electric guitar that had suffered major damage to the top of the guitar in the area where the output jack was located. The damage had been done at some.point before I acquired the guitar. I was in discussion with a couple of well-respected luthiers in the Los Angeles area where I live, when two long-time musician friends.recommended Sean and Mark, Penechar, the proprietors of Fountain City Guitarworks in Kansas City, as the best choice for doing the repair, specifically mentioning the reverence the brothers have for vintage instruments, their attention to detail, and their ability to accomplish a major repair on an instrument while taking the utmost care to preserve its playing characteristics. I wound up taking my friends advice and I'm so glad I did.Sean and.Mark, what an outstanding job you did. Thank you.Everyone else, these guys are the real deal and their prices are fair. Use them. You'll be happy you did.I've attached before and after pics.
Sherri Christiansen: Very cool guys and very knowledgeable. We would highly recommend them if you're needing some guitar work done!
BJ West: I was very happy with the fret work they did on my Les Paul. When I had a concern they quickly addressed it without issue. I highly recommend them.
Steve Alleman: I've brought several electric guitars here for setups, and I've really liked the work they do. Nice guys, and convenient location.
Caedin Malachi: These guys were amazing. Stayed in touch and answered my questions when I asked for progress updates and made sure I knew my guitar was in good hands. I wanted an autograph preserved on an acoustic guitar and all I had to do was scuff the finish up a bit before I had it signed (I messaged them before the signing and they indicated scuffing it would yield a better/easier result), and they took care of the rest. You can't tell I ever scuffed the finish, and the autographs have been successfully finished over and will remain so for a long time. The signatures are also in the same condition. I had it signed with a white acryllic paint pen, and the signature didn't bleed or melt at all. Absolutely phenomenal work.
Oli Weiss: Such a great and friendly service and absolute guitar freaks with a penchant for details, what more could you want.Replaced the Godin Pickups for Seth Lovers, sounds awesome.
Some Guy: They did a fret level and complete setup on my bass. Wow! What a difference! The action is low and there is zero buzz! It sounds great and is easy to play. The staff was very friendly, explained everything, completed the work in the time frame they quoted and for the price they quoted. I am completely satisfied and can highly recommend fountain city!
Joshua Vernon: These guys are awesome. Had a few guitars I needed some fret works on/ set ups and they are playing the best they have ever played. Very professional, knowledgeable, and understanding. Best repair service place I’ve ever been to. Thanks again!
Ahmad Al-Gibaly: Had an exceptional experience with the staff over at fountain city. They took the time to explain everything in great detail to me. Their work is phenomenal and I’m going to have them refinishing the back of my guitar necks after seeing their work. It’s awesome to A company that actually cares about their customers and the work that they do! I cannot recommend them enough!

Justin Mertes: Bill took a violin made by hand by my great-great-great-uncle in the 1910''s and made it playable again. He isn't just an expert in his craft, he's a gentleman and a friendly businessman. He isn't one to "nickel-and-dime" you, he values you as a customer, and values your instrument as if it were his own.He took care of our family's violin, put a new bridge and finger-board on it, restrung it, put hair on the bow, put on a chin rest, and more. He did this in only a week!I am new to the violin, and he had no problem having me pick up one of his and teaching me some of the basics of violin: how to hold it, how to hold the bow, how to move it, posture, etc.I am pleased to have worked with him, and I cherish the violin he helped make into a practical, usable instrument, not just an heirloom that hangs on the wall. I look forward to coming back to see him in a couple of months and playing with him a bit, and I have no doubt he'll set down whatever task he's doing to do so!

Michael Camden Sr: Great and personal excellent instruments
Maren Allen: Bill is a great teacher and has a good stock of violins to buy from, and can repair violin bows.
R. Tuwei: I have taken all of my instruments to Bill since I was a kid, and I recommend him to anyone who needs repairs on their string instruments. He does excellent work, and is very friendly. I never feel rushed when working with him, and he goes above and beyond to make sure all of your needs are met or exceeded!
Melissa Marowelli: Bill knows his stuff! I'd gladly take my son's instrument there again and again for repairs! A small repair shop run out of the owner's home means you will get personal service every time!
