YMCA of Greater Kansas City - Association Resource Center: what do users think?
Matt Alexander: This is just another poorly operated 501C. The members pay for the inadequacy of “leadership” top to bottom.Cold showers for a week at the NKC location… when I called the centers director he had just learned of the problem 5 days in?? Really?I tried calling the KC HQ for the YMCA, however the phone system is automated trash…. Wait.. use the prompt.. then it hangs up on you. Every extension, every time.Seems as if the national folks need to roll through and mop the floors…pathetic.
Sandy Thierry: Like the river walk the best. Been enjoying the water aerobics class on sundays as well
Cole Cummings: Billed me at the beginning of the month but sent a letter that they closed the location closest to me permanently on the 20th.
Jen Weber: We participate in the youth sports through the YMCA. We've been very impressed with the coaches, fundamentals and practice/game locations. The jerseys are also really nice. We get a full season with around 8 games, 20 practices for $100. We are non members so I think our price is a bit higher than YMCA members.
Sara Taylor: Our family has participated in many activities through the Y in the past 5 years and have had many great experiences. Most recently enrolling in sports and summer camp has been easy and an overall good experience. The staff are all well trained and it really shows.
Scott Miller: They increased everyone's membership fees to pay for new things but the 3 separate Y locations I have been to in the KC area all do not have any new equipment.
Dave Mon: This place is sad, the building is very old so it heat and air does not circulate properly. So you will either have a burning hot room or a freezing room. They do not provide free public WiFi. Instead you have to pay 50 Y bucks (which are earned through doing chores) and the WiFi only lasts for seven days before you have to pay again. Many staff members are rude and refuse to give the things you need. I ran out of enfamil and I didn't get my wic check until a week later. I asked the staff for a can of enfamil and they refused to give it to me saying it was something I should have had already. You're not allowed to cook, they'll write you up if they catch you. For Christmas they gave the kids some free toys but had a store in the shelter for the women where they could BUY new items with Y bucks at STORE VALUE. This place is very selfish.
Ian Owens: its $60 for a month to month plan and $50 a month on contract. Planet fitness is 11.00 a month. Why is the "non-profit" 6 times the amount of the "for profit" place?
Diego: Everything is clean and we'll put. There pool is always clean and ready. Employees are really nice and helpful. The basketball court is big
Sarah Kenney: If I could give this organization a 0 star rating, I would. I am an as-of-recent single mother struggling to pay even my car insurance, phone bill, you name it.. and need to work to support my daughter and I. They have a "wonderful" after school program called Y-Care where they do almost nothing. They don't even go outside. They do very few "crafts". Honestly I'm not sure what they do. The kicker is it's $91.00/wk. I get some assistance, but only enough to cover a week and a half. I left a message reaching out for help because after school is a peak time for me to make tips, wages. The woman who called me was beyond rude. Cut me off almost each time I spoke and couldn't even answer a couple of extremely easy questions I had. I didn't even get the call from the man I actually left the message for. I am hurt and frankly saddened by this place. No help, not options, just a "we'll have to drop her." Great job helping the youth YMCA.
greg coia: This is an insensitive organization only interested in building a Taj Mahal as a memorial to the imported higher administration. Find another place that will not abandon you for the stuffed shirts in the downtown area.
