Cathy Sanderson: Great variety and quality
George Mccuistion: Top notch products & consultation
Michael Babcock: Lots of yarn
Lindsay Vanzandt: What can I say about this shop? Hands down, one of the best in the metro. A TON of yarn to choose from, all the needles, tools, and accessories I need to do my best knitting. I wish they didn't close so early on Saturdays, but I love this place so much I just plan around it.
Barbara Shafer: Good place
Nanci Thomsen: I needed some knitting needles. I received excellent, courteous service. Two yarn shops are housed in one location - which provides a lot of choice.
Mary Waltman: I have been in yarn shops around the country and this one is among my very favorites. Rita is so helpful with questions and such an experienced knitter. The yarn selection is really unbelievable. Love this store❤
greatcrispy1: Awesome staff always willing to help. Lots of expertise and knowledge, with tons of yarn in all price ranges. Great store!
Chelle C: Knitcraft is a wonderful place and their new location gives them even more space and a wonderful variety of yarns. The service there is fantastic and there are experienced knit experts who work there and can help step you through your projects. They are one of the best knit shops in the greater KC area in my opinion. They've been in business for a very long time because they are a continuing resource for knitters and crocheters. They taught me how to knit at a class in 2003 and I haven't stopped since!
Amanda Schaefer: I am a beginner to knitting and have frequented this store many times in the last year. Miss Rita has always been patient with me, helpful and willing to teach me various aspects of the craft! The ladies at the table have always been ready to answer any question I might have and I have truly enjoyed sitting down at the table with them.
Kathy Pace: I entered the store looking for tapestry yarn for my canvas needlepoint project. I was pleasantly greeted, directed to the tapestry yarn wall with the beautiful assortment of yarns, help was proffered and I was then left to explore w/ out interruption. I enjoyed listening to these wizened gals sitting at their worktable helping another solve her knitting problem. A lovely shop with friendly staff. If you are interested in 100% tapestry wool, better get in there quickly as they are unloading their stock at a great price! You knitters are lucky that they will continue to serve your needs.

Angelika's Yarn Store LLC: what do users think?
Jessica Spotswood: After running out of yarn for a project I discovered it was discontinued. I checked all of my local stores to no avail. When I searched online Angelika's had the yarn. Not only did they have the yarn they had the color I needed. After placing my order I called them to see if they could arrange for priority shipping to WA. They were amazing and the yarn arrived in excellent condition and a day earlier than promised.
Emily Claire: I ran out of yarn for a project and Angelika's had it. I asled if they had any in a specific lot number I would love them forever. They sent me my two skeins in the specific lot number and a cute note. I wish they were local to me but if I ever need to buy quality yarn online again, Angelika's will be my first stop!
Peggy Schmidt: This is a great store. Save some time, cause it’s big!
Akiko Clough: Excellent! Since I live in VA, I have to make a purchase online. Some day I would love to visit the store in person!Angelika’s website is easy to navigate and offers a great variety of yarn and other supplies. I ordered several skeins of Cascade Heritage in various colors, some of which I could not find at other websites. My order was shipped right away and delivered quickly. Great store.
Laura Vescovi: So much yarn so little time❤️
Arthur Smith: My 13 year old crocheter was in heaven.
Tamie Jamison: Beautiful selection of yarns
Rosalind Taylor: I have purchased via phone for several years at Angelika's. The service and integrity are second to none. Love them!
Emily Niedfeldt: Customer service is wonderful! I had an issue with my purchase and got emailed back immediately with a plan for how to proceed. I definitely appreciated the response and will get yarn from them again.
Jane Fitzgerel: Good products, fair prices. Nice employees.
Christa Hinkle: Great store with lots of yarn choices!
Susan Fowler: Love the selection, the atmosphere and the peope
Lindsay Vanzandt: Lots of gorgeous yarn, really helpful staff!
Paula J Babington: I love this place!
Kela McLaughlin: Absolutely amazing, you will love it, won't be disappointed...
Renee Bondurant: I love shopping here! Great yarn and knitting supply selection combined with very helpful staff!!
Kim Amor: Beautiful selections! So many choices...so many decisions.....what to do next!
SLatrice Richardson: At first when my mom and I arrived there the place didn't look like an actual yarn store - even though I reviewed and seen pics online. Our Uber driver kept asking us if we were sure of where we were going because he had nevwr been to this part of Independence MO before. Not to mention he was an older Black man which made my mom and I quite aware of what he was saying and not saying.Anyhoo, we walked in, and it was wall to wall yarn and EXTREMELY organized. The owners Rita and Angelika were very nice and accommodating....my only ask is that they put some kind of sign on Dodgion and Truman so that people know it's an actual yarn store. If you're a person of color reading this, try not to go alone. Lol...Lbvs. Otherwise the yarn is quite decadent and I'd go again... Just not alone.
Lisakay Shively: This is a great place, lots of selections and friendly people.
Laura Mayes: This is a fun and helpful place to shop. Angelika is very knowledgeable about yarn and fiber.
M Pachomia: Great place, lots of beautiful yarn, friendly folk. Worth the effort.

Yarn Social: what do users think?
Laryn Anne Langford: I’ve been coming here for 3+ years, & it just keeps getting better and better! I learned how to knit from Em in a class, and I’ve met some of my favorite people during the Thursday social hours. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. (And if a mask requirement is the price I have to pay to keep my friends here safe, I’ll do it as long as they want!)Pictured are yarns and a book I picked up here during local yarn store day. Love the incredible selection of hand dyed they offer, as well as the budget wool options! Best shop in KC by a mile!
Jay Peters: My favorite shop. Period! I love that they stand up for what’s right and provide an environment that is rooted in the respectful treatment of others. The staff is so helpful and just the sweetest people you’ll ever meet. Also they sell amazing yarn and notions!
Chris Staggs: I wish I lived a little closer. When I picked up knitting at the start of the pandemic, I signed up for a zoom session to ask for some help. Em was so gracious and patient and although I know now, three years a knitter, that the things I was asking were SO basic, she gave me the confidence I needed at the time. I’ve been in to shop several times since then. Each time, the employees take time to answer my questions and make recommendations. I also very much appreciate the support they offer to social causes that are important to me. That makes them more than just a small business, but one that’s invested in the community. Their social media accounts are well-run and I always learn something (or find new products to swoon over). Thanks for being a safe place to shop and one that’s an experience, as well.
Jennifer Easterday: Yarn Social rules! I've known Trish for years and she is a class act--knowledgable, encouraging, and great at what she does. What a neat store. There are a few places I do business with that require masking and I assume that they have customers or staff who may be immune compromised (like both of my parents are), so I completely respect that choice to mitigate whatever bugs are going around.
Erin B: Amazing shop with super helpful workers. They have an amazing assortment of indie dyed yarn
Michelle Tyrene Johnson: Good yarn stores are so hard to find but worth it when you find one. I was at the grand opening of Yarn Social a few years ago when a friend told me about it. I was thrilled! And even though I don’t live in KC anymore, visiting YS is one of my proud (not guilty) pleasures. I was there just earlier this year when in town and walking in was like visiting an old friend. The environment is welcoming to all, and that combined with beautiful, high quality, unique and familiar yarn makes it a place I’ll always come home to. See y’all next visit!!! (Photo is yarn from last visit used.)
Jaimie McGuire: I can’t say enough nice things about Yarn Social. They have the best yarns and cutest notions as well as items for introductions into different fiber arts. The staff is always incredibly helpful and kind and the store has such a good vibe. I especially love their social hours and that it’s a progressive space that takes a hard line against hate and judgement.
Megan Waldrop: Insistence on masks at this point is solely a political statement and aligns with the holier than thou, social justice warrior vibe of this shop. If I had more time and options, I would have taken my money to another store.
Emily (Selkie): I love this yarn shop. I've been treated with nothing but utmost kindness and given quite a bit of very helpful advice every time I've popped in.The yarn selection is gorgeous (even if it's a tad pricey, you get what you pay for: top quality) and the social hour groups are chill and welcoming to new faces.I only wish it was a tad closer to any one of the bus stops but it's definitely a manageable walk in decent weather. I'd be here way more if the travel distance was a bit shorter.
Daniel Burch: My first visit was early 2022 and it was AMAZING! My mother and I told the employees that we were new to knitting, they were thrilled, and helped us out. 15/10 experience. 2/3/23 the girl working acted like we were a major inconvenience keeping her from her knitting. 2/9/23 I showed up at 12PM(listed business hours) and they weren't open. I came back around 1:50pm and i saw people inside, but the door was locked. They saw me try and open the door and immediately unlocked it. I would suggest you call to check if they're actually open before you leave your house.
Mary Lee (FiftyFourTenStudio): Yarn Social is a gem! A gorgeous selection of yarns. Cozy and welcoming. Kansas City knitters are lucky to have this lovely yarn shop in the heart of our city.
Angel Bruce: I guess I will never shop here, which is sad since it's 2 minutes from my house and I love to crochet in the winter. But no where on Google does it say to bring a mask but yet at the tail end of 2022, they had a sign on the door saying "Masks REQUIRED to enter" Not requested or any kind of polite statement. Seeing as there is no city or state requirement and since I'm fully vaccinated, I haven't carried a mask for over a year. I will not be returning to try again. There are plenty more yarn shops, in and out of the city. I'll take my business elsewhere.
Lisa S: I check out local yarn shops whenever I visit a new place. Yarn Social is a gem. A beautiful selection of carefully curated and luscious fibers and an exceedingly welcoming staff. I found many yarns I’ve never seen other places including Bien Aimee hand-dyed in Paris (the für originally from a nearby town who now lives in Paris), Treasure Goddess Yarn ( a local hand-dyer), and Life in the Long Grass (linen-merino blend from Ireland). I even joined their loyalty program, thinking I will want to shop online or via Zoom with them in future. Highly recommend
Adria Edwards: Wonderful folx here! Went in a little overwhelmed as I’m a newbie. Made me feel at ease and even more excited for my upcoming beginners class. So happy I was referred here.
Alison Saunders: Amazing shop! The yarn selection is incredible. The folks that work there are knowledgeable and helpful. There is always a sense of being home when you walk in. They helped me get over my fear of knitting and expand my needle sport aspirations. One thing that really has been important to me in the last couple of years is their dedication to safety during the pandemic. It’s a place I can shop and feel comfortable. They were one of the first shops to take things seriously and never wavered from protecting their customers or their employees. These are the kind of people I like supporting! Highly recommend.
Cliff's Place: Was excited to buy some high quality yarn, until we saw the sign saying masks are required.Since we can’t wear masks, due to medical reasons, we were unable to make a purchase.
S Meyer: GEM of a yarn store in Kansas City! I took a 1:1 class to learn Ladder Back Jaquard with Trish. I was new to stranded color work and Trish was patient, kindly answered my questions and expanded the answers to help me understand some of the background and the "why's". She was generous with her time and stayed seated with me even when other customers she knew came in. She had the store staffed well to allow her to help me. It was a joy to learn from someone who just loves knitting. It is the yarn store I wish was next door!! Oh - and she helped me fix mistakes that were 15 rows back that I was just going to live with.I forgot my pattern at the store, which is a 30 minute drive for me. When I called, they had not only saved it for me but they had scanned and emailed it to me - it was waiting in my inbox. Friendly people, welcoming environment, great customer service. Thank You for a wonderful experience!
Susie Greer: Fabulous selection of yarns and great customer service. If you haven't already go and enjoy.
Tracee Hegarty: Condescending, abrupt, and rude staff made me feel terribly embarrassed for no reason at all. I am scarred for life. I’ve never been treated that way before.
Stephanie Knotts: I dont understand how a business just randomly closes on a day of normal businesses hours? And there was nothing on the website indicating. Drove a special trip down here, extremely disappointed.
Rachel Jones: Fantastic LYS. Although the store is small, they pack a lot of great stuff in there. They update their stock often with interesting, fun, new finds and have trunk shows to showcase specific yarns. Besides having a great yarn selection they also have really neat embroidery kits, enamel pins, bags, notions, etc. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly and they create an inviting, inclusive atmosphere.

The Studio Knitting & Needlepoint: what do users think?
Glenna Beytien: Went there for the first time today. I’m a new beginner knitter. They were so helpful and kind. I’ll be going back a lot!
Molly Freeman: The Studio treats their customers like family. I love this place!
Dave Fellers: I have been knitting off and on for over 60 years. I have knitted adult male and female sweaters, socks, blankets, hats, baby sweaters including knitting my own created monograms, argyle sweaters, and intarsia sweaters. My current project is a lace dress for my new granddaughter. During this project, I rediscovered THE STUDIO at 95th and Nall. I can not express enough thanks to Cindy, and her several talented employees for the kind help and endless corrections they have made on my adorable lace dress which will be handed down from generation to generation. If you like to knit, or needlepoint, come by to see their expansive yarn. Thanks again to THE STUDIO! Jan Fellers
sue d: Great
Ann Brumback: Came in for the 1st time and worked with Betsy. What a gem! Fabulous selection for canvas and yarn. I purchased a piece and ordered a custom. Betsy made my visit so personal. Definitely the go to place for needlework needs! Can't wait for more projects.
Jane Brummel: Such helpful & knowledge service! They care about each project as if it were their own. Thank you, Cindy & Lynn
Rhonda Davis: Very friendly staff. Helped me pick out yarns for a class over the phone and had everything waiting for me when I got there. Spent time discussing various yarns and patterns with me and I really loved how welcoming the shop felt. Definitely a gem.
Katie Webber: Had a lovely time here, the person working helped me pick both a yarn and a project based on my ability (not beginner but haven’t knit in several years) and they were so nice. It was a very good experience, they showed me Ravelry and I felt excited about my project. Would recommend.
Rama Peteete: I’ve always had a positive experience. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and experienced. Love them!
Jennifer: This shop holds trunk shows then doesn’t pay the vendor! If I could rate them any more negative I would. Horrible horrible business practice. You’re better off shopping at Walmart than giving them your business
Leslie Yaw: This shop has stopped paying their yarn vendors. If you ordered yarn from one of their trunk shows exhibitors, you may be well advised to contact the vendor direct.Sad, because these vendors travel at least 5 hours to put on their shows, and then have to resort to legal wrangling to get their money!
Lynn Johnston: This is a wonderful shop.. everyone is very friendly and welcoming.. I was in town from Indiana and I had a wonderful time .. I would recommend to anyone going through the area !! Thank you so much ladies !
Penny Wilken: Nice people but very little yarn.
Lucy Ladley: Great Cozy Luxurious Yarn in a Home Away From Home environment.
Kris Harrison: One of my favorite yarn stores. Most staff is friendly & helpful especially Lynn H. They will help you fix knitting problems & make great suggestions for yarn projects. Love this place!
Rachel Dannewitz (HipsterStitcher): Horrible for needlepoint. Did not have a great selection of patterns, fabric, or floss. Not meant to be a cross stitch store. I was disappointed.
Lizz Bishop: Super friendly and helpful. Told them what I was after and they lead me straight to what I needed. When I asked for advise on working in the round, they told me to bring my pattern in and they'd teach me. Prices were fair, and there were a few skeins on sale under $5. Came up a little short when it came time to pay, and they put in the rest for me. They told me about their classes, and they were all very reasonably priced, too bad most are during the day. Otherwise, great shop, favorite of the ones I've been to. Will definitely be coming back.
Jalie Uzynski: The staff are helpful depending on which staff member you speak with. Very good selection of yarn. Alas, their classes are mostly in the daytime.
