University Health Lakewood Medical Center: what do users think?
JoJo Soria: We came in today with my oldest son. Front desk nurse was very rude. She refused to let me back with my son, despite several direct request made by my son to have me go with. After I called the charge nurse myself, I was allowed back. They attempted a procedure on my son which was not only unsuccessful it was completely traumatizing. The nurse was friendly enough but was very noticeably inexperienced. She was reading the directions on the tubing as if she had never seen it before. During all this, they switch doctors (shift change I assume we were never notified) who never came introduced herself until I requested to talk to the doctor ….. I’ve been going to Truman for over 15 years and I have to say I am absolutely disappointed and frankly a little disturbed about the level of care of my son received today.
Michael Cave: Do not go here. Don’t send your family here. Don’t let your friends go here. The incompetence of this place is dangerous. I would say it’s a glorified urgent care but that would be overstepping it. Seriously. Don’t go here for general care, ESPECIALLY anything life threatening. Chances are you’ll die in their care waiting for an ambulance to transfer you out to another hospital with the appropriate capabilities. The fact that this “stepdown” of an actual reputable hospital (Truman Hospital Hill) exists is sad. The emergency room cannot handle anything. The icu shouldn’t even exist. Zero cardiac capabilities, zero dialysis capabilities, you name it. Avoid this place spend the extra 4 minutes and go to st Luke’s east or the extra 15-20 to Truman downtown. I’m really not sure why the joint is still up and running.
Sean Gowing: They are incompetent to a person's needs
Kristin Whitehair: I visited an outpatient clinic once and received great care. The billing side was a mess. The online bill pay option wasn't functional. I sent a check that was promptly cashed, but not credited to my account. I've been repeatedly told the error was corrected. Most recently I received a robo call threatening to send me to collections for this $50 bill.I have spent 5x as much time trying to get my bill paid as time I spent in the clinic... let alone compared to the few minutes I actually saw the clinician.
Will Strong: Listen up, soon-to-be fathers: apparently if you bring your wife to the hospital and sit by her side for 5 straight days while they induce labor, University Health doesn’t see you as a parent. Only a visitor. They have a strict 2 visitor at-a-time policy. So when your parents and in-laws come to meet their first grandbaby, if you want them to share that beautiful moment together as a family, you’ll have to sit out in the lobby and miss out on it. Because remember, if you are a man, you’re nothing but a visitor. Doesn’t matter one bit if your name is on the birth certificate. God forbid you’re in the room when 2 other people come to visit. Not like I was trying to bring a party bus in all at once. Absolutely ridiculous
dillon hollander: Always schedules me 3 weeks out. So annoying you need to be faster than this.
T: Had my first doctor visit here the other day and it went really well. All of the staff was super helpful and nice.Docking 1 star because the operators when you call in are extremely rude and very hostile. For an otherwise very good experience they should really look into the phone operators at this location. They kind of ruin it all because they're so mean for no reason.
Lindsey Froehlich: 🇲🇽💯🏥 👁️👻😇🤩⋯⋯就要你
Peachiz Malone: Cafeteria smelled good
paul martin: Worst ER hospital visit I've ever been to, I went last night for abdominal pain they got me in fast and did a CT scan and ultrasound, took 4 hrs to get the results back to find out nothing was wrong "pain level 7 " was not offered any medication for pain. Dr. Was going to treat it as something else but he wasn't for sure that was it, but if the doctor says there is nothing wrong with me then I guess there is nothing wrong with me.......THIS HOSPITAL IS A JOKE
David Hooper: My wife had surgery here, stayed overnight and recieved the Best care from the time she checked in until she checked out. All theDoctors, healthcare workers and staff were extremely kind and helpful.A big thank you to all who took such good care of her.
Ombria Davis: I just wanted to thank LaDell for being my nurse and taking care of all my needs in a timely manner the best to her ability my registration nurse Barbara was wonderful and nice and my discharge nurse Amanda was also wonderful I will never go back to another emergency room ever thank you ladies and keep doing a wonderful job you did not go unnoticed with me, also Dr buchheit was AMAZING
Beverly Morgan: Was seen in Emergency Area. The wait was long but so worth it. I finally feel like I'm going to get answers to the issues I am having with my hands. Was seen by Dr. Dahl, very cordial, answered my questions, has a slight sense of humor which helped calm the anxiety of just my being there. The whole staff from the Triage, to the Blood Drawing to the shot at the end was all well executed. Thank you all so much.
BOSS LADY: A VERY RUDE, POMPOUS AND OBTUSE MAN,ANSWERED THE PHONE AROUND 3:18 PM ON MARCH 15 TH 2023THE PROPER THING TO DO, IS NOT TO JUST SWITCH SOMEONE OVER TO ANOTHER LOCATION, IN THE MIDDLE OF A SENTENCE, WITHOUT EVEN TELLING THEM YOU'RE DOING SO.YOU SHOULD NOT BE ANSWERING THE PHONES WHERE PEOPLE ARE IN NEED OF ASSISTANCE. YOUR PERSONALITY IS THAT OF A STIFF,YOU SHOULD BE WORKING IN THE MORGUE.
Michael Verdegem: Billing system is a mess i have paid my bill for one event 3 separate times i am still getting calls each time i have been told it was paid in full every time would not mail me copies of the bill when asked for and did not communicate on all there different billing departments. will not go back
Aubry Mans: My son went in for a routine follow-up on his medication because it’s a controlled substance. We were asked if we wanted a Flu shot while he was there. Of course we said yes, because it was that time of year. Then we got hit with a $145 bill for the flu shot & administering it. I talked to billing and my insurance. It should’ve been covered but because University Health coded it a certain way and they said they won’t change it. They are asking for their money. So just know, if you want a flu shot and your original appointment is not for a flu shotYour probably going to be billed for something I could go to Walgreens and pay $40! Out of pocket. It’s extremely unfortunate we have been coming here for a while and now I will be taking my family somewhere else. Very much a scam!.
nathan gray: On the one hand, my PCP is an exceptional physician! My wife and I both love her! On the other, the receptionist at the hospital entrance by the clinic, (not the clinic receptionist, she was very polite) was very rude. I don’t appreciate greeting you with, “good morning” and receiving more of a grunt of an, “uh-huh” than a proper greeting. You’re a receptionist, I appreciate that you’re probably busy; but one of your primary job responsibilities is in your title.
Ashton Gray: I went here a year or so ago after I was referred by my primary dentist, because they didn't do crowns.I've had basically zero issues with Truman over the years but this branch just isn't it.First appointment they told me what my portion was for my crowns, but i later found out that it was only portion 1/4. Everyone in the office acted like I was stupid for thinking I'd only pay a small number when that is exactly the number i was told, not that I'd have payments. The office is also not on the normal bus route so i was having difficulties getting there and they are so quick to reschedule your appointment, they won't see you if you don't pay either. It's all about money, I guess.Where exactly was I supposed to get a random 200 dollars on a moment's notice??I should not have to double check to make sure I'm being quoted the correct price when it's literally someone's job to make sure services are fully paid for. Also can't believe that this location doesn't participate in any assistance programs, what a joke.
lalathaqueen100: The big ER nurses are so rude, the staff on the 2nd floor was running up and down the halls laughing and playing, so unprofessional and they can't draw blood without fishing in your arms for veins, horrible experience, u can be dying and registration and admissions will be at your door so crazy
Taylor Goins: I had my son here 4 years ago and have found that the doctors will actually listen to patients and treat them great. The dental services are also amazing here and this will always be the family doctor office 🙌
riggsparty5: Unprofessional and uncaring doctor. We were sent here by urgent care only to be treated as if the medical emergency was nothing. I was not given any pain medication at all, and had to go back to urgent care to get a prescription for that. Dr. on duty was very unprofessional and had a horrible bedside manner. I would not recommend this hospital to anyone.

Kansas City VA Medical Center: what do users think?
Ashish Jayan: The Kansas City VA Medical Center (KCVA) is a 157-bed tertiary care facility having academic affiliations with the University of Kansas and the University of Missouri - Kansas City. With over 1,400 staff and 6 regional Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOC), KCVA operates on an annual budget in excess of $200,000,000. KCVA proudly served over 44,000 veteran patients with nearly 500,000 outpatient visits and 6,880 inpatient discharges.
Kenneth Lee: Clean and friendly.
Marie Pascal: Parking can be rough at times and the elevators are always a bit iffy, but the staff are excellent. I've never been in a hospital where everyone is so friendly. Everyone is smiling and saying hi. Employees don't just give vague directions to an office, but will actually walk you to where you need to go. It's quite obvious everyone cares deeply about veterans and works hard to meet the needs of vets and their families. If parking was a bit easier and the elevators weren't so scary, this would be a 5 star facility.
Guitanjo2010: They may not always have all of the solutions, but who does? They genuinely care about us and want to help.
Kyle Tritsarolis: Incredible and caring staff doing important work.
Timothy McLaughlin: I had an emergency, was transferred there in the middle of the morning.I was in the MICU for 4days with the best care anybody could get, by far. From the care team of five doctors, then you have the other half that is the Nurses who were so kind and helpful to me and my family. But also the others came in they all were Great. They all went far and beyond with the care they gave me. Everyone in that Hospital deserves aa big thank you
William Frost: Spent weeks trying to get my guts up to go in then ER doctor runs me off before they could even check me out. Now I have nowhere to turn. I know now why so many vets make that choice. Thanks for nothing VA. Everyone else was grear.
Nicholas Barron: Short staffed. Waiting lines are worse than actually being in the military. You are more likely to die in the waiting room than be seen by a doctor within a reasonable amount of hours.
Mac Stands: Attending a nuclear stress test and a CT all in one day. Nuclear and cardio were very responsive professional and actually worked w radiology to co-ordinate the CT scan to minimize wait times. Excellent 👍
Joe Rinella: My father had a serious illness and we brought him to the ER for treatment. They immediately received him and got him into a room during the week, mid-morning. The level of care was excellent in the ER. He transitioned into the main hospital in a room for the remainder of his stay on the 8th floor. I would like to recognize April, Jessica, Oliseka, Flo, James, and several other RN's who tended to his care. Their dedication and care was just outstanding. Also, Dr. Lanka, Dr. Carlson, and Dr. Moyer, provided excellent care and informed us along the way as to his progress. Thanks to Chaplain Dan too. Our social worker, Lisa, was very helpful in getting us setup with post-hospital care. The staff is conscientious about a clean room and clean practices in their care, as well. Hospital food is hospital food, but I will say that the pot roast and mashed potatoes and gravy and carrots got a nice review by my father. I can't say enough good things about the VA hospital and their level of care for our veterans.
Quintin Michael (N3RDSG3TBRA1N): 2.5 hour wait time to be seen in the EMERGENCY room. Don’t waste your time with this place, go to Leavenworth or the Honnor Annex.
Harold Peterson: I was scheduled for a VA Video appointment at 2 pm today. I was on line with the nurse waiting for primary to come on and then I was told she was having difficultly connecting. After many calls from me to VA Kansas City Medical Center I wasn’t able to successfully contact with anyone who could help me. I have waited one month to speak with them because I having trouble falling backwards injuring back and shoulder. Last week I fell again. At 4 pm I went down to eat dinner served at me independent living facility. Returning after dinner I had NO messages or email fallow up messages. I can’t believe the lack of medical care are NO RESPONSE FROM THE PRIMARY
George Fullington: I've been going to the doctor here for 5yrs. I like the service i get here. They take great care of you.
J K: VA hospitals often get a bad rep, this place is why.Pharmacy is truly terrible, long wait times and rude staff (upstairs).ER will not help vets. They almost promote suicide. Don't bother going.Dental, prosthetics, and vision departments are good to be fair.
Meghan Holman: Took my Dad to the Emergency Room. He's absolutely hates hospitals. They were so wonderful here! It was a great experience. The doctor had my Dad cracking up, everything moved at a fast pace, everyone was friendly. It was incredible. Got my Dad feeling a lot better about getting care.
A J: last year I was scheduled for a surgery. I get to a bed, get hooked up, they took blood, anesthesiologist walks in and briefs me, then a doctor walks in and say I’m going under soon.2 minutes before the nurse gets ready to wheel me back, they find out they don’t have the supplies to perform the surgery. I was there for 3 hours before they new they did not have the supplies. I question the level of competency this VA has. I was sent home with a “sorry.” Not only that I was not contacted back when they eventually received the supplies. It took 8 months for me to finally get the surgery.Gotta love the VA.
David Fleming: Most useless organization I have ever interacted with.
Eric Boydston: Great place
John A.: The staff at the VA are almost always nice & helpful, but anyone who deals with any part of the VA knows they are absurdly underfunded and in many ways that tends to show also no matter how hard the doctors and other people working there try.
Charles: The pharmacy is never a fast experience. Even when picking up a pre made shot. They verified it was in stock and still made me wait over an hour and 20 minutes. It shouldn’t take an hour to grab it out of the fridge and bag it.
MICHAEL WILSON: Had swelling of hands and could never get a call through to schedule an appointment. Wound up paying out of pocket at a regular hospital. Thanks for your non service VA. Answer the darn phones.

VA Heartland Network: what do users think?
Michelle Davis: My father was an US Army Vet. He enlisted at 18yo and continued to serve and volunteer at the VA Hospital in KC, the Vet Center where he taught art and helped many and at the Research Lab among other places that had to do with Veterans. He passed in Dec 2017 and his wish was to give as much back to the VA system as possible. I donated thousands of dollars of art supplies to them so that would go to good use. I have been trying for over a month to donate clothes, coats, shoes, gloves, bedding and more that could/would help homeless vets. They refused to take them because they don't have the room for the things I was donating. Why don't you have a place for homeless Vets to go and get what they need? I finally gave up and took 15 large trash bags full of good items to the City Union Mission because I didn't and my dad didn't want people to have to pay for these items. There were even brand new shoes that the VA had given him in boxes still in the bag. The VA should look into this issue! If you have a place for homeless Vets then you should have a place where they can get clean items to wear and to stay warm. I think its disgraceful that you expect these men and women who have served our country to buy items when they can't afford them. The VA has always taken such great care of my father and I always defended anything negative that I heard about the VA for that reason. This really is not right!! I hope you find a way to fix this!
