Thalia House, LLC: what do users think?
Jenna Self: I really enjoy going to Thalia Center. My therapist is really easy to talk to. She’s helped me so much in 5 months, and I know I will get to where I need to be with her guidance.
Caroline Herbig: Have been going here for years they are truly amazing!
Caitlin M.: I did IOP with Thalia in 2020, and it was one of the worst experiences of my life. The staff was unprofessional and undertrained, and sessions would often start 30-40 minutes late because the staff was chatting in the back office (yet I still had to pay full price for daily sessions). If you are struggling with ED, please please please go somewhere else. It’s been 18 months, and I’m still dealing with the emotional damage inflicted during my time with Thalia.
Bethany Mills: This is one of the most unethical companies I’ve ever dealt with. I had such high hopes when I went to Thalia House years ago, but it has been a nightmare. My therapist that I was supposed to be seeing rarely showed up for sessions. When I would complain about this to house staff they wouldn’t do anything about it. But I would get in trouble for “speaking negatively”. I maybe saw her once a month for the first several months I was there. No one seemed concerned about this. Even when I pointed out that I would have had more therapy if I would have just gone home. The “treatment” I was promised I did not receive. Honestly Thalia House was just an expensive house I rented for 10 months, that’s it. Therapy didn’t exist. I have very specific goals going to Thalia House that I made clear before I even went. Those goals were ignored and not addressed. Some of the things staff said to me are appalling and shocking. Ive spent a lot of therapy since leaving Thalia House trying to unpack the trauma of my stay at Thalia House. But that is not what prompted me to write this review. Thalia House’s billing practices are a nightmare. And they are illegal and unethical. Do not trust this company with any credit card information. They will run your card not on the agreed upon payment date, but whenever they feel like it. Payment due dates are more of a “suggestion” for them. Regardless if you, like me, have a strict budget and you live paycheck to paycheck. They seem to think that having a person’s card information gives them license to charge whatever they like whenever they like. What’s worse is I per my rights, revoked authorization for them to run my card. I did so in writing, and they charged my card anyway. Because of this I had to fill a dispute with my bank. I also filled a complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. What I know is that they have done this is other people. I am not the only one. There are much better, more ethical, treatment options in the KC area. Save yourself the trauma.

McCallum Place - Kansas City Outpatient Eating Recovery Clinic: what do users think?
Grey Klee: Do yourself a favor and don't go here unless thin, white, and absolutely no disabilities other than your ED.
Jenna Duncan: Mccallum place Kansas city was amazing. Although we all had rough days the staff new how to help and calm patients down. I transferred from residential where I didnt have a good experience and we werent sure how PHP would go for me, but they gave me more insight and opportunity on recovery. They truly cared for patients and continued showing us the road to recovery. Im forever greatful for getting to go to Mccallum KC for my recovery process, im forever indebted to the people there.
Piper Hickey: McCallum offered excellent care to a family member of mine. The staff created a safe, comfortable environment for my loved one to heal. They offer equine, movement groups, yoga, art groups, and meal challenges in addition to weekly therapy and dietician meetings. This program saved my loved one’s life. If you or your family is considering treatment, I encourage you to take the next step and go! My family was so nervous, but we can not recommend this program enough.
Dustin Nevels: This program helped my family. The staff there was so knowledgeable and communicated weekly about my daughters time in treatment.
Ariana Aquino: The staff really care. The groups were helpful and fun. I made progress in my recovery that I never thought possible. Forever grateful for this place.
Macie Kienzle: Morgan was amazing!!
Ellie: Do yourself a favor and go someplace else to get treatment.

EDCare Kansas City: what do users think?
Isabel: This place would be beneficial for individuals who struggle with food restriction. I do not believe it is a beneficial treatment center for anyone with any eating disorder other than anorexia.Staff completely refuse to work with you if you are having legitimate health issues, such as difficulty swallowing certain foods. (I have a hiatal hernia that is sometimes making swallowing solid food, especially bready and food that isn't mushy next to impossible to swallow and they did not seem to care at all)They will not individualize your treatment. Everyone eats exactly the same and you are required to eat all of your food served and if you don't, they make you drink part of a nutrition drink.I am overweight. The nutritionist asked me to supplement with ensure plus when I had been drinking ensure to help meet my nutrition needs. When I asked her why, the only reason she could give me was "it's more calories." I don't NEED more calories. I NEED a healthy relationship with food. I was not focused on calories upon entering the program, but I am now. When I brought this up as an issue, I was told I was "unwilling" to engage in treatment and I needed to be willing to trust my treatment team."Unwilling" seems to be a buzz word they use.Creating a healthy relationship with food does not mean making sure you eat everything on your plate. It means listening to your body and engaging in intuitive eating. I recommend the book "brain over binge."The majority of this program is simply sitting around eating. Staff will not make any accommodations for you regardless of your health condition. Everyone is treated the same. Everything is robotic. Nothing is individualized. My nutrition treatment plan had quotes from me that I never said.If you are struggling, I am not saying this is not an option. However, I would consider other options before this. I would even recommend a residential treatment center over any level of care at this program. If you are wanting to start providing your body with nutrients, ensure is absolutely okay to start with. Go at your own pace and find an outpatient therapist to work with while committing yourself 100% to that.Reading this review means you're thinking about doing something to help yourself and take care of your body, so this is your sign to do something...just maybe not at this place.
Heather Beer Vecchi: EDCare was the best thing I've ever done for myself! The staff is outstanding. They provided a safe, caring environment to do the hard work of recovery. I am very grateful for the experience. I highly recommend the KC office to anyone looking for high quality, comprehensive treatment.
Leslie Williams: I did not agree with their treatment plan for handling my pre-diabetic state. They were not interested in my input when it came to dietary restrictions related to diabetes. It was written off as "the eating disorder talking." Their answer to most things was pills. There was clear evidence their meal plan was not helping my situation and yet they made no meaningful changes. I left the center a full-blown diabetic with high blood sugars and a1c. The only positive thing I can say about the program is that the therapy helped interrupt behaviors long enough to bring my head above water dealing with my depression. This program is more geared towards people who have no problem blindly following orders and having no say when it comes to their treatment.
C Marie: It's laughable how little they know about treating EDs. And will kick you to the curb instead of mending their class structure to help you stay engaged ( I have ADHD and their only solution seemed to be pills, not trying to teach you skills in a different more stimulating manner.) . Furthermore no individualized care is provided other than a therapist that doesn't seem to have ever treated someone with a "severe" eating disorders and a dietitian/doc). They will simply expect you get better the same way as everyone else. And instead of helping you when you're clearly not resonating with treatment they will tell you they can't do anything to help you.
Sarah Turner: Had a good experience until my last week. There was a situation where I got very angry and was shut down by therapist. Told by therapist that we would discuss it later that never happened. I did everything that was asked of me and did not get a CAMSA ceremony. I didn't even get to say goodbye or apologize. I was basically kicked out because I got angry. It is supposed to be a safe environment yet no one helped me try and express my anger in a healthy way. Made me feel that I did not matter. I left feeling very unwanted and unworthy.

Bellatore Recovery- Eating Disorder Recovery: what do users think?
Karen Greenwood: I am so grateful to the people at Bellatore Recovery. My daughter was struggling with an eating disorder and we didn’t know how to help. Bellatore were reassuring right from the first telephone call and provided excellent service throughout. My daughter says they saved her life.
Jamie Gunn: Bellatore was a place of acceptance and healing. It was a relief to have an in-town IOP program option for our teenager. This is not any program, but one where we felt known and supported. The leaderships team is very responsive and involved in the care of the patient and the families affected. The weekly parent meeting was informative and helped guide our healing journey. Just to sit in a room where people understand the journey you are on is a gift. We are thankful for Bellatore and the tools we have gleaned from our time there. The continued support we have from nutrition moving forward from IOP into less intensive but intentional-focused counseling has empowered us for the transition and we move from here encouraged and hopeful.
Shiloh Heck: I would recommended Bellatore time and time again to anyone who is considering treatment for an eating disorder. There is truly none like it. From the moment you pick up the phone for your initial call until you walk out after being discharged and beyond, you are supported and cared for in ways that you did not know you needed or were even possible. They keep the therapy groups small which allows for more connection and security for each individual. You grow with others and learn so much through the therapists engaging with everyone in the group and most importantly learn that you are not alone and that there are others that feel the same way. The therapists are so intentional and invest so much in each individual. The dietitians are fun and light-hearted. They teach very valuable content that help debunk the myths that our culture feeds us on a daily basis. Bellatore is simply one of a kind and the whole team makes a point to help you have a positive experience and make sure that you feel as safe, cared for, and heard as possible. At Bellatore you are not just a number or source of income. I am so blessed and grateful that I had the opportunity to receive treatment from Bellatore and that they helped guide me in building a firm foundation which has helped me gain my life and freedom back!
Shelly Fox: The team at Bellatore is amazing. Their kindness and authentic desire to navigate this path with not just my daughter, but also my husband and I, was evident in every interaction. The weekly parent group helped us realize that we weren’t alone in this journey and that other parents had the same fears and questions that we had. In a disease that tries to isolate and shame, my daughter realized the need and benefit of community and grace. Thank you, Bellatore team! We are truly grateful for you.
Sara Reda: As I think back to the beginning of my daughter's treatment it is hard to imagine where we would be without Bellatore's support and guidance. While Bellatore is an eating disorder recovery program it has been so much more to our family. The peer therapy sessions provided my daughter with a space where she felt comfortable to share her struggles and grow through them. Not only is there support for the kids but there are also groups for the parents which were very helpful in feeling supported throughout our journey. I can clearly see a difference in my daughters coping mechanisms, confidence and overall happiness. I can not recommend Bellatore enough - we are so grateful for Amy, Allie and the rest of the Bellatore team!
Callie Thrutchley: I would recommend Bellatore without hesitation. What these women have created is without a doubt the highest quality of care in the area. I went through the IOP program and got a ton out of my time and relationships with the other clients and the providers. Whether you are there for IOP, or for their outpatient nutrition, counseling, or group services, you are in the best of hands.
Libby Rooney: Bellatore has just been amazing to work with! As a therapist I have sent many of my clients to Bellatore that are struggling with eating disorders and food restriction. I have so much confidence in their work as they have helped so many of my clients! As well the staff have been so helpful and communicative in working with our shared clients. My clients love them and so do I!
Brynn White: Bellatore Recovery offered healing, insight, grace and patience to my family in a caring and serene atmosphere. The moment I reached out, we were met with an incredible team of therapist and dieticians to help my family member heal. I am forever grateful for the compassion and professionalism Bellatore provides. They are careful to meet individuals where they are in recovery, gear the level of treatment to the individuals' needs and help them grow while gently pushing them out of their comfort zone into a place of healing. The intensive outpatient eating disorder program was the perfect level of care for my family member who sought treatment. She was able to complete the program over the course of several months and transition back into a less intense recovery platform once growth was achieved. Thank you Bellatore for the beautiful work you do!
Maria Moylan: Wow, I cannot say enough about how grateful I am to have been able to receive care from Bellatore. Each provider I met has immense passion and zeal for the work that they do, and they show so much compassion for each individual that walks through their door. Waking up and choosing recovery every day is one of the hardest things to do, and on days when I wasn’t able to fight for myself, they were there to fight for me (and still are :)). My experience in the IOP Program at Bellatore challenged me in all the right places and gave me the foundation I need to continue to fight and one day beat this disease. If you or someone you love is looking for support and care on the recovery journey, I 110% recommend Bellatore.
Josie Werts: To say Bellatore has been a blessing to me is an understatement - it’s everything I didn’t know I needed as I stepped into recovery. For a long time, I wrestled with the “not sick enough” story that is so common among those who suffer with eating disorders, and I was so unsure that I needed help at all. From my initial call to Bellatore, I felt affirmed and advocated for, and they have continued to support me every step of the way. There’s something special about Bellatore, and it’s not just the cute office space! It’s filled with some of the strongest & most beautiful humans I’ve ever met. Bellatore’s IOP & Bridge programs provided a safe place for me to struggle, grow, and engage with all of the things I had been avoiding, and the encouragement that I gained from group members was an inspiration and motivation to my recovery. My individual team at Bellatore, Lauren & Stephanie, are absolutely amazing, and I’m so thankful to continue to have their support as I’ve transitioned to the next stages of my recovery. Here’s what I needed to hear when I was looking at treatment options: no matter what your brain is telling you, you are worthy of recovery, and I truly believe that Bellatore can help you take the next steps into freedom. You are so worth it.
Catie Marx: Our daughter has been working with the staff at Bellatore Recovery for many months and the experience has far exceeded our expectations. She has participated in their IOP program and continues to participate in their small group therapy and individual therapy sessions. Their team approach for recovery has provided support for not only our daughter but also for us as parents. Our daughter has struggled for many years in what has been at times a lonely and sad journey. For the first time we feel she has a team that is not only knowledgeable but also compassionate, who truly cares and will be there with her as she continues her recovery. We finally have some hope of what her future may be. We highly recommend Bellatore Recovery and will be forever grateful to them.
Tanya Burdiss: I highly recommend Bellatore. My daughter struggled all through high school. Finding this program was just what she needed to learn many different coping strategies and also meeting other girls she could relate too was huge for her. She did the IOP program for 2 months and then a bridge step down program. She is the confident, happy, and healthy girl I remember! Also, knowing we always can reach out if needed is such a comforting feeling when this disease can make you feel so alone.
Melinda Arnett: The help I received at Bellatorre for a 25 + year battle with eating disorders was a Godsend. They provided help, support, compassion and knowledge that I didn’t think was possible. The skill and compassion offered by each therapist, social worker and nutritionist was amazing. The structure provided by meal plan and group gave me the support o needed to walk into healing. This was, and will continue to be, the hardest fight of my life. But I found the remedy with God and Bellatorre. Please reach out and ask for support. I believe you’ll find a hand extended at Bellatorre to begin your journey. “And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom” - Anais Nin
Ingrid Worth: I attended IOP, then the Bridge Program, at Bellatore and both have been immensely helpful as I recover from an eating disorder that used to control my life. Throughout my time at Bellatore, I received incredible support from the staff as well as from others in the groups. The group therapy sessions were especially helpful and the therapists/dieticians leading the groups did a superb job at facilitating and leading meaningful conversations. I learned a large variety of skills (DBT, Nutrition, Body Acceptance, Yoga/Mindfulness, etc.) that I continue to use. With every IOP session, I was encouraged by the staff as well as those in the groups with me to pursue recovery and the healthiest, most balanced, and most loving version of myself. I could not have fought this eating disorder alone and I am extremely grateful that I chose to pursue recovery surrounded by the amazing team at Bellatore.
Nina Munizza: Bellatore is absolutely amazing. What these women have created is nothing short of amazing. They are brilliant. I attended the IOP program and continue to work with the team there. They are always there for you and truly understand what you are going through. Call them now! They will support you and give you all the tools to battle this disease.
Bobbi Weians: I have had 2 daughters who have battled this horrible disease called an eating disorder. One has been recovered for about 2 years and one that has just reached the end of her recovery. I can't say enough good things about Bellatore Recovery. I have gotten to know the women who started this and I can tell you they are some of the most knowledgeable women throughout the Kansas City area when it comes to Eating Disorder recovery. Their staff are also top-notch - we have had experience with both counselors and RD's.Bellatore's IOP program was instrumental in helping our daughter who just reached recovery to push past her stage of being 'stuck' (not physically sick to require hospitalization but also not at a healthy weight) into full recovery. She is now weight restored and, more importantly, is back to her healthy, happy self. The spark in her eyes is back and her skin and hair look so much better.I highly recommend Bellatore Recovery to any family who has a loved one who is battling an Eating Disorder.
Tami Kelly: I have had two teenage daughters battle with eating disorders. We are so lucky to have a recovery system like Bellatore in our area. My girls were able to connect with other people going through the same things. They didn't feel so alone. The therapists were able to build their confidence and and their general understanding of the importance of nutrition. My girls are back to normal lives playing soccer, dinner with friends, all of these important life events that used to paralyze them. The staff has been wonderful, taking time on the weekends and evenings to provide additional advice or support. It has been worth all of the time and investment to get the girls back to normal. They are stronger because of it.
Stephanie Hamilton: The staff and program at Bellatore were just what I needed during my recovery journey. You are welcomed with open arms by a group of compassionate, talented and educated individuals who go above and beyond for you to be set up for success when your time with treatment is done. I enjoyed the different process and therapeutic skill groups, and I can confidently say I am equipped with the tools I need to continue my road to recovery. I highly recommend Bellatore Recovery to anyone who is seeking support on their or a loved ones path to eating disorder recovery.
Jeanette Walters: If you or a loved one are walking the journey of battling an eating disorder, Bellatore is the place for healing and recovery. It is a beautiful and serene space for therapy to take place, The honest and open group sessions bring so much emotion and bring positive change. There are not enough words of gratitude to the therapists and dieticians here who held our hands and kept us moving forward to get our daughter back to a healthy state. They showed love, warmth, compassion and never once did we feel alone in our families time of crisis. My daughter and family will forever be grateful for the wisdom and empathy these ladies have shown us. Truly, in KC, there is no better place. I genuinely don’t know how we would have triumphed over this demon of a disease without Bellatore. It is a simply amazing recovery center filled with the best professionals in the field to help you gain back your freedom.
kaylin: Whether you have already been through multiple programs or it is your first time, Bellatore is an amazing place to not only foster long-lasting relationships with others, but inspire you to reach your recovery goals. Combining an idyllic atmosphere with highly experienced, genuine therapists and dieticians makes going to groups a wholesome experience. I have learned so much about the path of recovery and especially about my own self from Bellatore, and would definitely recommend it to any individual looking for compassionate and valuable support.
Emily Ross: After going through several treatment programs, Bellatore surpasses them all in terms of quality of care and staffed by professionals who truly care about you and your recovery. The space is amazing and is a great place to make connections, experience healing and learn skills that are helpful to recovery and life. I am very grateful for this program and is amazing to have such a quality treatment center right here in the KC area. The staff is composed of true experts who have had a lot of experience in this field. I would not hesitate to recommend this program to anyone!
