Best Dress Store Independence Near Me

Lisa Balentine: We usually go to the Windsor at Oak Park Mall to shop for dresses for my daughter for school dances. That place is a nightmare! Clothes everywhere, no organization of any kind (size, color, nothing!) super messy and crowded. Last weekend we were in the area so we decided to pop in to this location at Independence Center. Holy cow! This location is so well organized and clean! The staff was helpful and cheerful. I was shocked at the difference in the two locations!! We definitely will be making the drive to this location from now on! Was there glitter on the floor….yes, but it’s literally filled with glitter covered dresses. Get over that.

Savannah Hardin: This place was okay. They have gorgeous dresses but not much of a plus size selection which is disappointing. The dressing rooms were kind of messy and had dirt and glitter all over the floors. The workers weren’t really paying attention to people shopping or trying on dresses until they were already doing it. They kinda had an attitude if you took more dresses in than you were supposed to.

Defernaut Rs: Horrible rude service from Management, they only carry small and extra small sizes, and what they do have is all broken, see through, or sequins/glitter fallen off. I'd rather buy off Amazon to get a nice dress that's not broken and not have to be talked down to about how I want a dress that isn't broken that also fits.

Brooke Stewart: Literally no size in this store was bigger than a Large, their target audience is small petite girls or women with unnatural BBLs. It's completely embarrassing to try on 5 or more dresses and none of them look good on or fit a plus size girl and I'm not that big only 180 lbs and 5 ft 3.

Makayla Danae: Not sure why my review was deleted but like I said I’ve been going here for years and they are always helpful and have the cutest clothes most up to date fashion. I’ve never had any issues. This is easily one of the best stores in the mall. Still in business for a reason and expanding. Don’t mind the most recent ones that are talking smack because that’s just an ex employee making fake accounts who got fired and is mad.

Deight Grape: No one in here understands any Spanish anymore. The employees responses are always snarky and short. They were too lazy to even get a dress off a mannequin for us after we asked.

Kount Krackula: The tall manager girl is rude, always too busy leaning over and reading paperwork to be able to help customers, she'll just walk away without even acknowledging you. Everyone in there keeps saying they don't know anything, so I guess literally everyone there is new and untrained? This place used to be good, I don't know why everyone in here sucks at their job now.

Sierra Stewart: We had such a fantastic experience prom shopping at Independence Windsor. Elizabeth and Destiny spent a ton of personal time with my daughter assisting with styling and finding her absolute perfect dress. I was worried about looking for a dress so late in the season but the store was well stocked and beautifully displayed. Our stylist team made the process so easy despite being understaffed. Thanks to the Windsor girls for helping my baby find the perfect dress!

The Lady’s that were working were so helpful in finding what style dress fit my body shape the most and made me feel so beautiful. If they didn’t have your size they gave you the best envision they could to really get an idea of the dress. I have been to this store for Prom & buying my wedding dress as well and both experiences were amazing. If they didn’t have your size or color they measure you to order your right size and pick the color you wanted. The owner is so sweet and made me feel very confident in myself, shopping local was one of the best decisions I made buying my dresses. I couldn’t be more pleased with my experience here and will definitely recommend my friends and family come here for any special occasion!

I was shocked to see there were more items filling the racks..But as one reviewer commented...It is stuff everywhere....makes the shopping experience a little hectic. Ladies you could really work on your customer service also.. You shouldn't be so busy communicating to your coworkers about blasay-blasay...That you don't even greet your customer..nor say thank you. Emily Hanes: I went today (Monday afternoon around 245pm) and the store was an absolute mess. There was product EVERYWHERE. Like piles and piles I had to step over. Things were just shoved on shelves and there was zero organization. It felt like I was walking through a hoarders house. It was so overwhelming I couldn’t even shop. I disagree with another review on here. I had no clue what size I was wearing since losing 200+ pounds. I tried dresses on from size 12 to 26. The dresses are European sizes and that is not the shops fault. I said yes to my beautiful dress. They ensured that I will have my dress done and ready. I am so excited to say I Do May 22, 2021!!!!

Hanna Davies: I am not the type to write reviews, but after what I have experienced at this shop I have to!!!As a plus size woman, trying on dresses can be a challenge considering most designers send sample sizes to shops that carry their dresses. I called around to multiple stores and very few carried any bridesmaids dresses about a 12. When I called amore they said that they had a few plus sizes that could be tried on. When we arrived to try on dresses there was not a single dress in that designer above a 16. This of course made deciding which dress to purchase more difficult, especially when you are paying $200+ for a dress.I was measured in my bust, waist and hips to find out what size I would need to order. When we referenced the size chart, it came out that my bust was bigger than the largest size dress available. I never in my life, have ordered a size 28 in anything. Now, with that being said, I understand that dresses tend to run small. No big deal. The woman then tells me that I will need to order an extra yard of fabric which when the dress is altered can be added to make the top bigger to fit my bust. A yard of fabric runs for $50 a yard. The dress itself was $220. She then tells me that they charge extra per size after a size 22. Once everything is all said and done, my total comes out to $341, for a dress that I have no idea what it will look like on, nor how it will fit. Not to mention during all of this, the woman that was helping us was very, very pushy and quite rude.Fast forward 2 1/2 months later. The bride gets a call that our dresses are in. I am thinking great, I will finally be able to see what this will look like on and figure out how much it will need to be altered. I go pick up the dress, the extra fabric and pay the balance that is left. I get home, put the dress on and to my surprise.... IT ZIPS! AND there is a ton of room in the bust, along with everywhere else.Here I am with a dress that is now way to big, a yard of extra fabric that I do not need, and I start questioning the measurements, the size that was ordered, and why I paid the extra money when I obviously did not need to. I thought that I would just call Amore and explain what is going on, surely they would understand. After this I took measurements myself at home, to find out that according to the size chart I did not need a size 28, but a size 18, maybe 20 if we were being generous.I called Amore today, and first spoke to a young lady. She was very concerned and said that unfortunately she could not do anything and that she would get me with someone that could help. Another woman comes on the phone, I explain to her the situation and according to her “these things to happen and that there is an ease in all dresses that is around half an inch which could explain why it fits” I told her that “no mam, it is not just a little loose, it is way too big.” She claimed that all dresses size different and that basically you order a size while you are “backed into a corner hoping that it fits”. If that is the case, why even take measurements? If all of the dresses are sized differently why have a size chart? She then tells me that they cannot take back the extra fabric because the designer does not take it back. She claimed that all dresses are dyed together and that if they took this fabric back it would not match any other dresses of that color. Which, I am sorry, but come on... Seriously?After what turned out to be a pointless conversation about the sizing of the dress, I then mention the extra charged and the money that I am out. So not only am I out the $50, but I am also out the extra money charged for it being over a size 22, and I am going to have to pay the extra money to have it altered to where I need it to be. She did not seem like she cared, nor that she wanted to make the situation right. Her words were “these things happen”.I am very, very upset with how this was handled from start to end. All I can say is check your measurements if you do decide to go here and think twice before ordering.

And keep telling her she shouldnt try it, they told her to come pick up today and that if she tried it on they wouldn't repress it. She took the chance and tried it anyway and it was not complete.. now she is going back Thursday to get itWhy would you tell a bride to not try her dress after you guy have altered it! Shouldnt she try it after it was changed to make sure it's good fit?

A D R: I wouldn’t recommend them, very rude and snobby people. I would give them 0 stars if I could. Went in with my two year old daughter to look at their wedding dresses. I wasn’t going to buy one just yet, I wanted to look around more before I made a decision. Went in, saw a couple of dresses I wanted to try on and take a couple of photos. Go to a couple other places and do the same so I could look at them and decide what dress I wanted. Told the lady and she goes in a very rude tone “this isn’t a modeling store and next time you need to make an appointment, you are taking up other people’s times.” There was no one in the store. No one! She even looked at my daughter in a disgusting way . My daughter was just sitting there quietly. I was on the phone with my husband the whole time. I went back to my car and cried. I ended up going to David’s Bridal’s. Don’t waste your time here!

She even came in on her day off to let me come back and make my decision. And then had me do a "photoshoot" on the stairs in the dress to make sure I had all of the pictures of me in it that I wanted. Thank you for finding me the perfect dress Kelly!

Laurallee O'Bannon: The bridal salon is fine. Would not recommend their seamstresses. The lady I used for my wedding dress, took my dress in too much, the dress wouldn’t Button. When I asked her to fix it she was going to charge me to fix her mistake.

Holly Morris: What was once a unique shop. It has turned in to the same as others. However It is very nice to find a shop , with clothes that fit a larger women. There is a good assortment of clothes to choose from. Miss the old stuff. To many main stream stores already. Workers are nice. They greet you as you enter. Always clean and organized. Worth a look.

Krista G: I walked in the store at 7:06 pm doors, wide open, lights on, shoppers everywhere. I started looking around and was promptly asked to leave because they "closed at 7pm". ( Remember,doors open, people everywhere)I looked around and asked, even tho all these people are here shopping? Yes so sorry, she fake politely replied. 🙄🤨There were people shopping by the door, and I was in the middle of the store !🙄 So I left and I won't be back.If I want torrid I'll find it online, the mall is half dead any how these days. You think they would want all the customers they can get.
