To have another voice in the room to advocate for me well as someone to provide additional comfort during the stressful parts of delivery. Janice was calm but in control, knowledgeable but not overbearing, a great listener but not afraid to speak out! I loved having her by my side ready to help in every way needed.

Amanda White: I’m not sure what I would’ve done without this amazing woman!!! I didn’t really know what a doula was until I met her! She sat down with me and went over a birth plan, what to expect while in labor, breastfeeding tips and tricks, and answered any questions I had. Before I went into labor, she made sure that I was prepared and had what I needed. Her weekly check-ins definitely helped me feel at ease! Once my labor started she was there to advocate for me and help me through the process. I was able to have someone to lean on for encouragement and to vent when need be lol. After my son was born, she made sure to check in and let me know that she was there for whatever I needed. I loved that she set up a time to meet in person to see how me and my son were doing too!! She gives such great advice and is a great friend! I’d definitely recommend her to anyone I know!!! Her tips on breastfeeding are bomb too!!! They have definitely helped me with my production!!! Ssshanika: Daysha was a blessing! Where do I begin?! I had no idea I truly needed a doula until her (now I recommend to EVERYONE!). I was about 6 months pregnant when I opted in for her services. From the beginning, answering all my questions, taking me step by step & being super patient; even when I was so frustrated. We created my birth plan, boundaries about what I did & did not want, and Daysha was so informative with this process. I can only imagine how much more I would’ve learned if we connected sooner.After doctor appointments or reading something on the internet lol she was always by her phone ready to answer any questions & not judging me.Lastly. Daysha showed up when I needed her most, delivery & postpartum. She advocated for me when I couldn’t, she assisted me with breastfeeding & depression afterwards. Ebone' Moore: Daysha is a friend of mine and I have always admired the kind of mom/caregiver she is. I knew she had been on this journey of becoming a Doula and knew once I had my baby girl this year I could lean on her for information regarding breastfeeding. My breastfeeding journey was rough because I wasn't producing enough so I reached out to her about Tips that could help after I had already been instructed by the hospital on how to proceed (breastfeeding first but also offering formula). Although Daysha wasn't happy to hear my instructions from the hospital offering formula and kinda tried to "push" me back the other way (lol) I knew her passion came from her love of what she does and her knowledge about it. Unfortunately I did ultimately end my journey of breastfeeding early due to my struggles (especially since I had so many other things going on) I definitely appreciated the time and information she gave me and my maaaanny questions 😅 she answered.

Allison: My doula team, Lauren and Hannah, were angels! I was paired with them based off of my birth plan. They understood what I wanted and helped me speak for myself during my medical induction. They were a calming presence when I risked out of the birth center and became high-risk. Lauren would text with me in the early hours of the morning when I was overwhelmed as a new Mom. Can't say enough good things about them!

Lorie Robinson: We LOVED our experience with Lydia as a post partum night-time helper! Lydia was personable, knowledgeable, and super awesome at caring for our little boy during the night (so BOTH mom and dad could get a full night's sleep). However, I would say my favorite part of our experience was her observations and insights when our little man was struggling with belly issues that were affecting his ability to be comfortable enough to eat and sleep well. And once we got those worked out, she encouraged me to think ahead to when I was returning to work and how I was going to gradually get him sleeping longer at night time. I didn't even know this existed, but with a 2 year old and a newborn, my sister recommended this service and my mom offered to pay so we signed up for a couple nights a week for 3 or 4 weeks. It was so worth it! If you are able to pay for this, I would HIGHLY recommend Lydia and My KC Doula. This was a super helpful service for either a first time mom or after a sibling is born!

I was skeptical at first when my wife said she wanted a doula for the birth of our second child - I didn’t really get it or see the need. But after our experience with Sam, I am now a life-long advocate for anyone who feels they need any support at all during labor.Sam was responsive, extremely knowledgeable and professional. She was able to quickly recognize my wife’s needs when labor became difficult and communicate with her in ways I couldn’t. She respected our boundaries and made us feel at ease. M Ames: I TRULY could not have given birth the way I did without Sam with my KC Doula. At first I wasn’t really sure how a doula would be helpful, but HOLY MOLEY, having her in the room made all the difference, especially since my delivery nurse wasn’t very empathetic. Sam helped me focus on mentally getting ahead of my contractions while also assisting in birth positions and making sure I was as comfortable as I could be.Not only that, but having a doula in no way belittled having my partner there. He felt like he was 100% involved and played his part as Husband/Dad assisting our little one into the world. He was extremely helpful (as directed by Sam when needed) and came out of the experience with the same amount of gratitude and awe of what a positive experience having a doula there had been.I cannot recommend My KC Doula enough. If you’re wondering whether or not you should do it, girl, DO IT. It will only make your experience all that much better. And let’s be real: giving birth is a big deal.

Amanda Graham: Every pregnant mama needs a Sarah in her life! This woman is God-send! After my first birth experience wasn’t anything like I hoped, I made the decision to hire a doula to rewrite the storyline for my second birth. Choosing Sarah to be that person was the best decision I could have made; she was such a vital piece to helping me achieve a redeeming VBAC birth. She has such vast, specialized knowledge for this field that makes her beyond qualified for the job. More importantly, she knows how to apply that education to her clients’ unique situation and tailor it to best suit each individual mama. From the education she armed me with while I was pregnant, to her always accessible support via email or texts, I felt well equip for birth with her by my side. She came to the hospital the night of my foley bulb induction and got us settled for the evening. Mid-morning the next day when the foley came out and I texted her saying I was 6cm, she was quick to arrive back. During EVERY contraction, she was there squeezing my hips helping me ride it out. She suggested new positions to do and new techniques to try during that time. She made sure my birth plan was honored by everyone. She was my advocate. She stood by my side for the 3 hours I pushed, helping me and encouraging me. I truly believe if not for her, I would not have gotten my VBAC! I am forever grateful for everything she did and will hire her again for my next pregnancy without any hesitation!

Margaret Lisa: I’m so glad that I decided to hire Sarah as my doula during my pregnancy. I had a wonderful pregnancy journey and she was a big part of the reason why. She is first and foremost very kind and makes you feel comfortable around her. She is also very knowledgeable about pregnancy and is always just a text or phone call away if I had a question about something I was experiencing. No question is too big or too small. I also really enjoyed the prenatal yoga classes! Unfortunately due to Covid restrictions she could not come with me to the labor and delivery room but she came with me to the hospital all the way until she couldn’t go any farther, all in the middle of the night. She helped me through labor in my home as well up until it was time to go. She knew all kinds of techniques to help relieve discomfort and facilitate labor and taught them to my husband so he could help in the hospital. I had a great birth experience with her and I can’t wait to hire her again!

They were very thorough and convenient as they came to our house with prepared materials and didn’t rush through our questions.Both made them shelves available for questions and took the time to check in on me leading up to the delivery and once we were settled at home. They have also been a great resource for outside referrals.Would absolutely recommend them to friends and family. Worth every penny.

We were on the fence about hiring a doula mainly due to cost and the idea of having a stranger coaching me through birth, but it came down to "if we feel like she helped in any way then it'll have been worth it". Turns out she is more affordable than many doulas in the area, while still giving back to the community, and once you see how much her presence helps, you don't care at all that another person is watching you have a baby haha! Everyone's birth is so different but I felt supported by Heidi no matter how I chose to labor & birth. I was unexpectedly induced several weeks early and she made herself available right away, reassuring me via text until she could get there in person. She is knowledgeable, personable, and so supportive. The prenatal sessions were so helpful, and I can confidently say I don't think my delivery would have gone as smoothly without her by my side.

My birth was anything but ordinary as I found out I was covid positive upon being admitted for induction. Because of my covid results I was not allowed to have Heidi physically present for my birth, so she offered her support virtually. I was unsure how much of a help virtual support would be, but I’m SO thankful that I had her support and encouragement. Heidi was able to offer support and couching to me and my husband virtually, which was comforting, helpful and valuable.Heidi is so passionate about what she does and you can feel that as she works with you.
