Greg Moore: Not very helpful at all they returned my call back but when I asked about the housing situation as far as them accepting applications the lady I spoke with was very rude telling me that they were only accepting applications in the future from veterans and the homeless I am disabled and need help I have been disabled for 30 years and lived in Independence for 40 yrs. I have a seizure disorder other medical problems and my age is 59 Independence doesn't do a very good job of helping their disabled in my opinion.

Semion Glin: I have the best case worker Geri. She always help me out when I need it, and she does call me back within 1 or 2 days. Sometimes she calls me the day I called. The staff is always nice to me, and the receptionist has always greeted me with a smile.

Rhonda Sams-Stroble: Poor service, never answer phone, lie to you say they call you, dont , never no places for rent, never answer your calls back to you, any excuse not to give place to live. When they send you a letter, saying they call you , not answer their calls, have call this number see why you didn't get a place no one answers phone, out of town or in meeting for a month but need call this number before this date their not in office. They rent their apartment to who they want in their. So many excuse, have be off probation 5 years before you rent a place then still dont get one

Teresa Brown: My experience were very outgoing & challenging.Due to the fact of my healthcare. Also I had my second experience with a high rise community indoors living. Which was truly a test with in itself. However I were able to corrected health issues, such as credit, & get back into the community of living. One thing I’m most grateful for is the acceptance they had for me as a women of my age. Although sadly most of my accomplishments credit, finances improvement later has become back to the beginning stage. Im still however keeping the faith by utilizing whatever options available. But the volume of living in a high rises project living is designed mostly for those who are fully content & are not looking to do more than that. Rita Widenhoefer: This was a nice clean and safe place to live for seniors and disabled people with limited means.But now the building has deteriorated so much that the balconies aren't safe to sit on, and for the past few years the elevators haven't worked half the time, they should have been replaced long ago when they said were going to . One of the two elevevators doesn't work at all and hasn't for quite sometime. Since they have opened up to the public with low income , it's not a safe place to live, there's fights, drugs and kids running around babies crying, stealing you name it, it goes on police are called all the time . Ariel Charles (Bunnie): I've never lived there but my mother did, and it is nothing but a sex and drug infested building with nothing but thieves living in the building. I stayed at my mom's for Christmas with my kids, and they were so loud in the hallway, some man was screaming so loud that we couldn't sleep. Someone knocked on the door looking for a person that didn't live there, and when I told him that he had the wrong apartment he got mad and started trying to get in. I immediately called the police, but they didn't show up til an hour later, me and my kids could've been killed by that psychomaniac. It's not a good place to live if your an elder, it's not safe amd the managers don't do anything and that's why I'm glad my mother moved out when she did.

IPD does nothing about frequent burglaries of which I've not been the only one. Everyone knows it's an inside job done by several Tennant's They are allowed by management and with no police investigation to do so. Empowed by our local law enforcement. They do what they please bc they know there will be no consequences Although you will be told otherwise. Its an outrage and the citizen's of Independence need to know.Just say no!!! A disgrace to the once lovely city of Independence. Very sad.

Prince Williams: This is one of the most unprofessional non profit groups I have ever had to see someone deal with. I have a family member who is dealing with them and most of the staff are angry black women with attitudes! I am black myself so that comment comes from a black man. My family member was just so frustrated. Everyone she talked to told her something different. She has taken paperwork in a month ago but they just put it in a couple of days ago and they asked her if she has proof she put it in a month ago. One lady actually answered the phone saying there is not much she can do for her because she want be in the position much longer. They assigned her a new case worker that she has been trying to contact through phone and email, but noresponse. Then she actually went down there and they said the case worker was overwhelmed so they assigned a lady to help him. When she called to follow up, they were saying, that no one knows who the lady is. She finally talked to another person and now they are saying that she has grounds for termination because she is not following protocol.They need to fire everyone and start fresh with people that are customer friendly and a system that actually works. There are too many cracks and holes for people's lives to be depended on!!

I would not recommend applying for any housing assistance within this state especially if you are a non-resident. You will be treated poorly and no communication will be provided.

S4U: This was one of the most unprofessional non-profits I've ever had to deal with. I waited a year to get a housing voucher. Then, the "case manager" who was supposed to help me never returned phone calls or emails. I finally got ahold of a manager. She called me back three nights later, at 9pm! And said I had to make up my mind if I wanted to take a one bedroom or not. Right then. Sight unseen. Instead of working with my existing landlord who said he would work with vouchers. This is why landlords won't take their vouchers. Because they know how horrible the employees are. Emmanuel Cleaver needs to clean up the swamp in his own backyard with this place.

I may have to call the congressman or Mayor's office or somebody who can get a rise out of that office. Clearly somebody has to do something about the way that office is run. Sooo many bad experiences and reviews. What is "REALLY" going on?
