shawnell moye: I have been with this bank for 8 years this is an awesome bank its a small bank and sometimes get very busy and may not answer the phone but when I leave a message they always call me right back I know how to manage my account and pay my bills on time so I don't have any problems with fees and sometimes when I mess up the fees that they charge are manageable they will work with you when other banks want even give you a chance if you don't have perfect credit. When I started my credit was fair now I have excellent credit I will always be a loyal customer thanks!

I’ve had an auto loan through them also. They made the whole process from beginning and end smooth. I highly recommend them to everybody I know!

I've worked with Jennifer, the loan officer, for MULTIPLE loans the entire time I've banked here, and she's always called me back and been very quick with the process. If someone doesn't answer the phone, I've always received a call back. I've been banking here for 12 years and have never had an issue. I love this small credit union and the customer service
Mary Ross: I just went to deposit money for my car loan I have through them. Deposited it and they didn’t ask if I needed anything else just really fast said thank you, sent my receipt and I tried to call in and no answer! The ladies at the drive through are rude!! Never had this problem before. I was trying to call and send the empty container back so I could get my account number written down.. and they would just sent the container back and not ask if I needed anything. And then when I pushed the call button 3 times (no answer the first 2 times) they finally said “do you have a question” !!! Like excuse me no customer service of “hi how may I help you”! Someone needs to re train these young rude ladies about customer service asap!

Penny Winny: This credit union is small so you would think that a loan officer would make time and return a phone call. The loan officer Jennifer does not return calls. I have called once a week for the past 3 weeks and left a message every time because no matter what time of day it is she is always in a meeting and never once has she returned a phone call. In my opinion she doesn’t want to work. They need to hire more loan officers.
Michele BT: I’ve been a member of this credit union since 1987. Over the years the staff has become like family. I knew them all and they knew me. Recently, the credit union has had a lot of staff changes. There have been a few growing pains, but the service is still top notch. I lost my debit card a couple of weeks ago. Within an hour I had an alert on my phone from the Union and my account was temporarily frozen. The thief was able to get gas and lunch but was not able to get a television from Walmart or Target or any of the other stuff they attempted to buy.Thanks to All of the Credit Union staff both old and new🤑
Colt Keeran: I really wish I could give them zero stars. This bank charges me $22 every time my check from work gets deposited. I get charged $104 a month just to basically bank here!!! That’s $1248 a year in fees just to have checks deposited!! NEVER bank here.

Krisa Lee: When i opened an account here, i specifically DIDN'T sign up for overdraft protection because if i don't have the money in my account, i don't want to go negative and pay extra fees. Had a small paycheck due to an overseas vacation. Student loans came out a few days before my next paycheck was deposited. I had money in my account, but not enough to cover the student loan. Instead of declining the charge, the bank allowed it to overdraw my account and charged me an overdraft fee. After this, another autopay (that i WOULD have had enough money in my account to cover if they had declined the student loans payment) came out, overdrawing my account more and then i was charged a second overdraft fee. This all happened without my knowledge or consent. After my next paycheck was deposited, the bank locked my bank card, pending me signing up for overdraft protection. I wasn't given a call or email to notify me of these changes. I got a letter in the mail. That didn't arrive until AFTER i had tried to use my bank card and was declined. I was required to either mail in the form or hand deliver it. I work during the week, and this bank has limit weekend hours. So, it's not exactly convenient to deal with this matter. Drove out on Saturday morning to get this dealt with. The lobby was closed with no explanation, so i had to go through the drive through, where i was informed that if i did NOT sign up for overdraft protection, my bank card will remain locked. I signed the paper agreeing to this feature that i DO NOT want, in hopes of being able to use my card for things like, gas and groceries. After signing, i was told that there was no one in the offices to unlock my card, so i can't access it until sometime Monday. Honestly, I'm not even sure it's legal for them to hold my money ransom to force me to sign up for an account feature that i do not want. But whatever. I've already opened an account at a different bank that has multiple locations, better hours and a more competent staff. Once all my bills are switched over and my direct deposit goes into effect at the new bank, I'll be closing my account. This is NOT how you do business or treat people "like family." Sometimes the "smaller, neighborhood" type businesses AREN'T better. At least with one of the bigger chains i have the ability to bank on my schedule and make decisions on how i want overdrafts to be handled without them doing the exact opposite and then punishing me for their stupidity.

I will likely refinance with another lender, and possibly close my other accounts after years of being a customer.
John Burch: have been with this bank for almost 20 years. In the past year or so they have really went down hill. I recently opened a business account with them. At first no one knew how to open the free business account that is listed on the website. They all claimed it did not exist. I pressed and finally a manager showed them how. You have to wait 7 to 10 business days to receive your card for the account. I waited and never received the card. Called and asked and was informed "Opps i forgot to order your card for you." I pressed and they claimed they would have it rushed and waive the fee for that service. I waited the 3 business days and no card. Called and now magically the company they use to generate their cards is out of plastic. Basically I am getting the run around at every corner from this place. If you have any other option i would use it even it if is just prepaid cards and an envelope under your matress

Johnathon Boehm: I had a business account with him for a few years my first year at the smaller Bank on 24 highway was fantastic great customer service newbie by name knew what was going on with my account. Then they moved me to 23rd Street location I had a product that I bought that kept charging me when they weren't supposed to try to get that shut down they gave me the products information and told me I had to do it couple of times through my business account I had overdrafted twice time over a couple of thousand dollars between what was taken in the overdrafts. No questions no harassing phone calls was able to just catch up on my next project deposited several thousand dollars in and out of my bank account and the time I had them and then they called me and harassed me for a week and a half day in and day out as I repeatedly we made the arrangements I made the day before and then the day before I got them caught up over an overdraft of a couple hundred dollars they close my account not happy at all total case of not knowing and not caring what's up with your clients.

Amanda Bowers: We have been members at this Credit Union for over 25 years. My husband's company banks here as has its many employees over the years. A few weeks ago my husband stress levels were through the roof and so he just kind of detached from everything including our accounts but wasn't really concerned with our accounts because he knew we had overdraft protection. BE WARNED overdraft protection and transfers you make from your savings account are connected and you will lose money. That's what happened to us to the tune of $200. Now I realize that customer service isn't what it used to be(which is sad) but I now know that neither is customer loyalty. I contacted this bank about my $200 in fees and spoke with Monica and she could have cared less that I was out this $200 for accessing my OWN money. Federal guidelines changed in 2020 allowing consumers to withdrawl money from their savings accounts more than 6 times in a month but now banks have the right to charge you fees for going over the 6 number limit. Were we as loyal customers informed of this? Were we as loyal customers told that their so called overdraft protection included this 6 number limit? NO WE WEREN'T. I had hoped that due to the state of our economy and our loyalty that I could get some of those charges reversed when I called this bank, but was only treated like I was just some pathetic loser looking for a handout. TO REITERATE I WAS CHARGED $200 FOR ACCESSING MY OWN MONEY. Because of this we will be closing our accounts with UNITED CONSUMERS CREDIT UNION IN INDEPENDENCE and so will my husband's employer and all of their past and present employees. It's time to take a stand for all Consumers and fight for a change. This bank could care less about their customers and I for one feel like I just got robbed.

Kristie Shaver: The banking part is great. My Mortgage Lender Jim was atrocious. He did not communicate to me about how he messed up and was off on the calculations until the day before signing on my house. What was suppose to be $4000 thousand (this what he told me) was at closing, it turned into $5946. When I called him about the HUGE discrepancy He stated that he had been doing refi's for the last few years and misjudged the taxes and interest. I found this out the day before signing........ If I didn't have my bank set up with this company I would have pulled the loan and my money from a bank that lies to me. Once I refinance my house and not with CACU. I will be changing banks as well. To think that his words were " there is nothing you can do."

TODAY I WENT IN TO SPEAK TO SOMEONE REGARDING THEIR PROGRAM CALLED "SCORE MORE" WHICH IS A PROGRAM THAT HELPS MEMBERS LIKE ME REBUILD THEIR CREDIT AND GET REESTABLISH IN THE CREDIT WORLD TO A FRESH START. HOW THE PROGRAM WORKS IS THEY WILL LOAN YOU MONEY THAT YOU CAN'T TOUCH UNTIL ITS PAID OFF BOOSTING YOUR SCORE UP TO HELP YOU REBUILD YOUR CREDIT. However because I filed bankruptcy in 2013 the representative told me Community America will NOT be able to help with any type of loan even though I was DISCHARGED OF ALL DEBIT and that the only thing they CAN DO for me is HOLD MY MONEYsuch as (my DIRECT DEPOSITS, CASH CHECKS,ETC) I feel very DISCRIMINATED TOWARDS FOR SOMETHING THAT HAPPENED IN MY PASS FROM 9 years ago. I THOUGHT CREDIT UNIONS WERE CREATED TO HELP PEOPLE FIND THEIR WAY TO A FRESH START. THIS IS VERY DISAPPOINTING AND FRUSTRATING BECAUSE I WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO GET THE GOOD INTEREST RATES OFFERED BY MY CREDIT UNION WHEN ITS TIME TO PURCHASE MY FIRST HOME, NEW CAR, ETC. cindy morales: My mother banked with them since they took over Sears credit union . over 50 years banking with a bank that lets a deceased member account go negative because the IRS says we want our stimulis back. Mommy died 4/5/21 she received her stimulus on 4/7/21 we used the money to pay for her funeral. Now we have to come up with 1100.00 to make her account good. Closing All our accounts out. They should have called before doing this. Not very loyal to their members at all. Not to mention everything I see on website says my mom was eligible for the stimulus. Still alive 1/1/21. So very disappointed in fact.

I've had my account for 3 years and it's been in very good standing however I am in the process of trying to rebuild my credit and can not get any assistance. I applied for a loan once and a credit card but was told my score needed to be 620. Well I got it to 660 when I needed another car. I decided to use my financial institution and NEVER EVER got a response if it was approved or denied but I sure got a hard inquiry on my report now. Until this day, I haven't received an adverse action letter in the mail either.Another time I called to replace my debit card because the magnetic strip stopped working. I was told to go into any location and one can be printed. Well I just happened to go to the one that doesn't have the machine to print debit cards so the lady put in an order for another one. I waited 3 weeks and never got it but my card sure was cut off. Eventually I did go into a branch that could print one. I did get a car loan with another company and I'm seriously thinking about moving all 3 of my accounts with them.
Virginia DeBoard: The worst. Receive retirement check for the 1st funds are pending. What is wrong with posting this payment when received. This causes late payments to bills and unable to get medication. I realize the longer they hold it in a saving they get the interest but they are hurting the people and won't post till the 3rd.

Nickoy Wood: After discovering my card was compromised we reported it to the Public Safety Credit Union. They canceled my card and had us fill out a dispute form. We were informed that they could not rush me a new card even if we paid for it. I had to wait 22 days for my card to arrive. Upon calling them at the 15 day mark it was discovered that no one had ordered my replacement card. After expressing my frustration that they do not offer rushing a card in this instance which is absolutely ridiculous. My husband and I had to share a debit card for almost a month which was not easy since we work completely opposite schedules. The person I spoke to said they can indeed rush a card and don't know why any one would have told us they couldn't. He rushed the card to me at no charge but still took 7 days (it was supposed to be overnighted). Now that I have the card It will not let me activate the card. Now we have to contact them again. Once we did that they informed us that sometimes their system just doesn't work well. I am EXTREMELY dissatisfied as a customer. I feel like this bank has failed me. Especially when your upset about your bank information being compromised adding this enormous hassle drug out over 22 days is absolutely unreal.

A B: ATMs accepted my cash deposit then spit it all back out after accepting it and cancelling the transaction after 10 mins. Not User-friendly
Carissa Huff: Jamal was very helpful getting my son started an account. He went above and beyond writing down what my son can do when he turns 18 to get his credit score up to 750 in a year. He was very friendly and accommodating. My 8 year old daughter said she was going to tell his manager that he needs an upgrade 😂 (raise). His manager wasn’t here to talk to though. I just love this bank!
April Preston: The new kiosk only banking with a virtual person behind it is terrible, scary and make me feel SUPER uncomfortable.1: Your back is TO the door when you are standing at a kiosk... turn them around!!! Anyone behind me and/or walking in can see my account balance, watch me type in my social, etc.2: When the virtual lady speaks to back to you on the kiosk there is no option for an ear phone or even to turn it down, the speaker is on for everyone in the whole bank to hear! And she asked me to repeat back (because I was trying to talk quietly because everyone could hear me too) and repeated my large cash amount I asked for...and then if I wanted it all in 100s' everyone looked my way. Talk about awkward and nice way to get jumped on the way to the car!No privacy, no protection for any customers, we were all super close to each other and I could hear everyone's info, and everyone could hear mine.I will NEVER go back here. If you are worried for employee safety then install bullet proof glass/ and or something else....don't sacrifice the customers privacy and security!!!!
David Roberson: Great experience, love the layout inside it makes things flow faster and quickly resolved my issue in less than 5 mins. Going to start going to this location more often.

Tyler Stoddard: I have been banking with CommunityAmerica since I graduated high school in 2013. I have received excellent customer service specifically at this Noland Road location. The team here went above and beyond to assist with banking needs!

Ox Wheeler: Very poor customer service. Was applying for a credit card and told I would receive a call back. Never called back, I had to go up to the credit Union and was ask for social security number to look up information when my account number does the same, the lady that was helping me apply for the credit card walked up and acted like she didn't even know me. Been using CommunityAmerica for a few years now and all over the KC metro area, this is the first time I've ever felt unimportant. Will not be returning except to use the ATM.
SR Hailey: Went to open an account this morning. Was stopped at the door and questioned. Since we have direct deposit at another bank we were told that community America does not want our business unless they can have all our business.

Rosa Cloyd: They are an excellent company . They are always friendly when you go into one of their branches. It took me about 10 minutes to get a car loan yesterday. I just got my profit sharing and it just adds to my savings account. I like dealing with them better than the banks. If you're not a member I would check them out I think you'll like it

Renee Swinton: I called to ask a question about a car loan and it was the worst experience I've ever had. I've purchased several cars through this bank. Each previous transaction was pleasant and professionally handled. The belittling treatment received today was totally uncalled for. If she doesn't want to perform her duties, in a professional manner, she should seek other employment, which is what I'm going to do concerning my banking needs.

Tabitha: I’ve been banking here since I was a literal child, the woman said I couldn’t enter the lobby to cash my change (due to covid, cool) I was wary because it’s a jar full of change and my grandma sometimes give me “special” coins so I asked the lady if there were any way she could kinda “rake” through the change so I don’t lose any. She proceeded to tell me they just dump the change in the bucket and that’s all. She couldn’t even *try* to act like she’d help. Just lie and say you’ll sift through it next time. (Not sure her name but she def looked like a Karen) 😂
Audrey Greer: The best place hands down to get vehicle loans! Great Customer Service! Also started our son's first savings account there. You can't beat their rates when it comes to loans.
Marissa Williams: Bank teller was rude, condescending and cold and implied that I was committing fraud by attempting to withdraw my money from a shared branch savings account due to the fact that my ID was expired. She did not even ask if I had any additional ID that could be used to verify my ID, which I would have given her my U.S. passport or government ID. Also, I have been to other affiliated credit union locations recently and they processed my transactions with the ID with no problems. The teller was being prejudice. I won't be returning here.
Patrick Boatner: Their ATM was the only one out of 3 places I visited that let me successfully withdraw money. Unlike the others, it gives me details about why the transaction was denied, so I could fix it.

And explained my family’s situation and the ultimate goal of the phone call was to see if they would work with us and our goals and it came down to the fact that my family (due to living in Wyandotte county) are not the kind of people she wants to have loans with, also was due to us being “poor people” she wishes we didn’t have a loan with them. Pretty professional, not to mention I am a Honorably discharged Veteran. Just isn’t right the way she was talking to us.

It is hands down one of the best financial institutions you will ever have the opportunity to be be a part of. I have never had a question that wasn't answered and the staff is very responsive, caring, and real people. They care about your life and will help you navigate accomplishing your financial goals. I love CCU!!
George: I had my truck financed with this company, was a horrible experience, there collections manager Patrica Frank's was just a nightmare to deal with, to much to go into here but I finally refinanced just to get out of there, even during the process of refinancing she would call and harass me, trust me run fast and far from this place!
V Banks: I visited this credit union branch today to make a transaction with my credit union that is not this one, but is within the same credit union co-op. I have never done this type of transaction before and I had no idea how to do it. The ladies inside were very friendly and extremely helpful as they took the time to walk me through the process. Having the option to go to a nearby credit union for my banking was so convenient today because I would not have been able to get to my credit union before they closed. Central Communications Credit Union was easy to find and access.

Michelle Hopkins: This bank has been such a disappointment to myself and my husband. The first fiasco was adding my husband's name to my account. The account still only shows my name. The second fiasco is the fraud my husband and I have experienced on numerous occasions. The first time, $800 was taken out of our account, which took almost a month to receive it back into our account. Now, AGAIN, we are waiting almost 2 weeks for the return of another amount of money fraudulently taken out of our account. And, the third party fraud prevention center they use is a JOKE!! The fraud company doesn't go after the people who are committing fraud. So, HOW ARE YOU PREVENTING FRAUD? Geesh!!
