Matt Jeffers: I ate at this building quite a bit as a kid in the 90s. I don't know if it is same name/restaurant as it now but it's definitely the same building. The food was great back then and I returned to it about 20 years later and the food is still great! The food was cooked well and very flavorful. It wasn't dried up or luke warm like other Chinese buffets. My only complaint is the obvious roof leaks they have as the ceiling tiles are bubbly and stained.

Trig Stewart: We ate at the Buffet on a Wednesday. So I understand the small variety. The food that was there seemed pretty fresh albeit in small quantities. Soups were not fresh. Could not find the white rice until after. I didn't know where to look. FYI, Some regular clientele told me. It was in a rice cooker away from the rest of the food.Average food. Sub average atmosphere. I can understand a restaurant start up. But they've been here for a while yet the look is a run down diner.

Tony Restivo (Tony2timez): Worst Chinese food I've ever eaten. Sesame chicken breading was soggy and chicken was tough. Steamed rice was dryer than the Sahara. Crab Rangoon bottom was soggy and top crispy part was beyond the stale. Had to wait 30 min for this. Ate here because Mandarin house is closed on Tuesday. Next time I'll wait. They are better and faster by miles.

N. Hauser: UPDATE: I appreciate the response! It makes a lot of sense, and I would have just appreciated a description online that more accurately represents the current business model. I am not interested in buying Chinese wares having lived there for several years, but I did specifically come to Crown Center to have tea at Shang’s Tea House and was disappointed!—The tea was lovely. The moon cake was dry and cold and served wrapped in wax paper. I have never loved moon cakes, but I’ve never had a homemade one, so I though I’d try it. My husband had the pineapple one, and it was much fresher than my red bean one.My main disappointment was that I was hoping to drink tea at a tea house. I have never had Chinese tea in a disposable cup, and the whole experience of having tea at a table with a teapot and cups is really an essential part of the experience for me.I just wished they more accurately presented their business. There are tables out as if it’s a tea house, and there was a guy drinking tea from a teapot and cups right in front of the store window. But “having tea” was not presented as an option even when I specifically inquired about it, which left me confused.

Rory: The tea is lovely and very well priced at 3-5 dollars per cup as of January 2023. However you should know that as of this review, there is still no place to sit and enjoy it inside the shop. And it is a bit more of a shop now - delicately displayed fans and trinkets are around. The best of which are on the walls - beautiful hand-painted scrolls at a more than reasonable price.

J G: I found Shangtea something like 12 years ago. I've had tea's from all over the world and I can tell you, as odd as it sounds, this guy in KC is absolutely the best tea I've ever had. When I come across real tea drinkers, that always gets me an odd look, but it's absolutely true. Countless people have I recommended to go here and shared his tea with. I don't even advocate for any other products except his. It's just so good you can't help but want everyone to try it.I drink other teas, but in my mind, I'm always comparing it to Shangtea and it's always a disappointment.I don't get up there often anymore, but I can say there for awhile I'd travel up every year, sometimes twice a year. The owner was usually there and he actually remembered me (considering I've been so few times, I have no idea how he remembers). He's a super nice guy and is very friendly. My favorites are White Tea & Honeysuckle. Any of his White Teas though? Nothing in this world has ever come close to being as good as what he sells.One caution if you've never tried this place. If you don't want to be ruined on tea, be very careful. This will be the only tea you want to drink for the rest of your life. Yes, it's that good!!

Liyi F: Great tea and mooncake options, highly recommend. A pleasant surprise to find such a nice tea shop. A cup of fragrant hot tea and a delicious mooncake for less than $10 feels like a steal. Not much space to sit inside but tables and seats are right outside the shop in the shopping area.

Shari Cherri: This was the worst Chinese I've had in years. Everything was kind of gray and soggy and tasted of food that's been in the refrigerator for way too long. The beef on a stick didn't taste anything like it's supposed to. It was like they slapped a couple of strips of beef in the microwave then stuck them on a stick. The dumplings were for sure frozen. The chicken wings also frozen. The general Tso's was unlike any I've ever had before. The sauce was so dark it was nearly black. I think it's been just reducing in a steam table for weeks. Everything was hot yet nothing tasted fresh or even homemade. We were so disappointed in what we did try that we didn't even try everything. Definitely won't be ordering from here again

bob joe: Me and my boyfriend tony just got back from Texas and we wanted to try our favorite restaurant again. its been 2 years and we got the same thing-Egg rolls, orange chicken, and hsiang beef with white rice. In a couple of hours, we had to vomit our stomach still hurts from yesterday. The chicken was rubbery and some still frozen. The rice was soft but hard at the same time. The beef was rubbery and tasted like mildew. The lady at the front was very rude. We will never eat here again.

Tehe: My dad took me here after work, we got a large general tso's chicken with white. The reason why I rate this 1 star was because it gave us food poisoning. The chicken was still frozen and it tasted funny.. I had to vomit and had to use the restroom so many times. My dad complained of stomach cramps and said he couldn't eat food cuz he was sick.
