Susan Weeks: Wanted taco pizza so thought we would give them a try. Very disappointed. Lacked toppings except plenty of lettuce. Thought there would be more meat and cheese and some onion. Not a lot of flavor and very little sauce. Husband says we will not be back. This was our 1st time.

Darren Griffin: It’s okay the issue for me is they don’t switch the pizzas out from the buffet once it’s all dried out from the heating lights. So my family and I just ordered directly from the cashier, which is a plus because at no charge you can create your own pizza and they bring it out to your table if you choose the buffet option. The salad bar is GOOD! Service was good, the price is a tad bit high for 4 and if you have kids under 12 please get your discount, if not you will be charged adult price. We will visit again to see if I can change my current star rating !

corey waddell: Love me some Pizza Ranch! I like the variety of the buffet having pizza and fried chicken plus dessert. I will say we stopped at a busy time and they were having trouble keeping up.They have some of the best broasted chicken I have had. I like trying different pizzas on the buffet.I love their cactus bread or dessert pizza. Only other place that has good dessert pizza like it is Godfathers which is probably the original struzzle dessert pizza. Only issue is they didn't seem to have regular dessert pizza available so I finally ordered some to be brought to my table.By the time the waitress got to our table with it she got stopped by other tables that saw her looking for us. She only had 2 slices left for both of us, which was enough but I would have liked another one. Normally they bring the whole pizza to your table, they give you however much u would like and then put the rest on the buffet.I am not sure for the price I paid for the 2 of us I got my money's worth of food. We don't eat that much food. For 1 piece of chicken and 1 piece of dessert plus a couple scraps of buffet pizza I wouldn't make it a Regular stop fighting the buffet crowd during peak times...lol

Evelin Carrasco: We were seated as we walked in. It was pretty empty. Only about 4 tables were occupied. There was no pizzas, chicken and barely any salad. We waited for at least 10 min before seeing pizza brought out. The pizza was fair. Chicken was very good. Service, not good. The server completely ignored us, mind you, we were the only Hispanics there. She served and cleared tables for the other people(Caucasians). But didn’t even bother to look at us. We felt extremely uncomfortable with both food and service we ended up leaving fairly quickly.

Pennie Charpie: I live three minutes away, if you have to wait for the light. I’ve not ever received my order Hot. I think they head out to a location farther away have to come back, call for directions. Today two hours after placing my order and calling seventy five minutes into the wait to be told it is in the oven. I call back and ask for a refund and cancellation to be told it will take seven to ten days!!!! Sadly I will not order again, not that I think anyone will care

Ryan Roach: Ice cream machine and one of two soda machines were broken. Comically small selection of food for a buffet. We when arrived there was almost no pizza available. When I finally got to try the pizza, the chicken bacon ranch and the cheese sticks were both good. Too expensive for the quality.

Kelly Cosgrove: Shining Stars catered our wedding in August 2020. We signed a contract about a year before the wedding with the founder, Deb. However, we were informed that Deb no longer worked for the company in January 2020. Shining Stars is now under the ownership of KC Hopps.The positives of our experience with Shining Stars were that the staff were kind, respectful, and flexible in regards to last-minute changes due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, we faced some challenges in working with the company, for example:Frequent changes in staff that were unannounced/unacknowledged, made communication with the company difficult. On top of this, it was somewhat challenging to contact the staff in general (e.g., required several emails and calls to get in touch with them each time).We were disappointed with the catering itself. We felt that the quality of the food served at the wedding was poorer than what we were served at our tasting.Because our guest count decreased at the last minute due to COVID, we paid for approximately 10 more servings of food and 45 more servings of cake than we needed. We therefore expected to have plenty of leftovers. However, at the end of the night, the staff told us there were none. We followed up with Shining Stars about this after the wedding and found out that there were indeed leftovers, but they had been donated without our consent.We discussed these issues with the company after the wedding. They were apologetic and said we would be given a partial refund and gift cards to KC Hopps restaurants in remediation. We only received the refund.Based on our overall experience, we give Shining Stars Catering 3 out of 5 stars.

I rate them as No. 1 in my book. They were my go to for everything and it was the smart and perfect chose. I live in Miami, FL., I had to plan my daughter’s wedding from Miami in Kansas City. With the help of Marvin and Deborah Williams from Shining Star Catering, they made it all possible for me to do. The food was so flavorful, everyone was commenting on how great the food was (we had Italian). The staff was just as amazing and accommodating. The venue was a dream come true. Most of my communication was done via email, but Marvin and Deborah made the vision come true. He made himself available at all times, Marvin even stayed around the day of the wedding to guide me. That was a weight off my shoulders, because I did not have a wedding planner. That’s what you call amazing service.

I LOVE the fact that china was included in the price of our catering. I chose the mismatched vintage plates and everything looked absolutely stunning at the reception. We went to several tastings and all of the food was always amazing. Our wedding day menu was no exception and we received many compliments about our food. I highly recommend hiring Shining Stars for your wedding or special event!

Cindy Hayward: Though the food was good, it was late. The event was scheduled to begin at 2pm, with an ending time of 3:30. The food was set at 2:30--no apology and no acknowledgement of the stress imposed by a caterer that is late. The two staff members that arrived on time were pleasant and helpful, but were not apprised of event details--it was unfortunate that the worst attitude belonged to the owner. Not exactly a "shining" experience. I certainly understand why the owner requires full payment prior to an event--as satisfaction is certainly not guaranteed nor a priority.

Richard McLeod: I wish I had some new revelation to add, but just color me another of the fans of Shining Star. On short notice, they did an outdoor open house for 50ish people, on time, on budget, and with many of our guests gushing. Deborah and Marvin Williams and their clan are integral parts of the operations - from planning to delivering to cooking to serving. May the glory of the Williams clan prosper and increase!

From the moment we went to their tasting event, we knew they were the best choice for us. My husband & I are self-titled foodies, so mass-produced chicken breasts just weren't going to cut it for our wedding reception. Shining Stars is above and beyond the typical catering-- they did tomato soup shooters and mini grilled cheese as a passed appetizer for us, incredibly tasty black & blue sliders, and their potato gallettes were being fought after! The list could go on and on.Their staff is knowledgable, extremely helpful in decision-making, and bends over backwards for their customers. We loved them so much we asked them to cater our rehearsal dinner the night before as well! You will adore working with Shining Stars for your special day, promise.
