Jessica Ray: I have been taking my dogs and cats here since I moved to KC in 2014. I noticed a lot of negative reviews were from several years ago and in my experience they have been great for my family! I have never used the boarding facilities, but the new location has a fantastic set up for pups!!! I only use the veterinary services and for that they are great. They can almost always squeeze me in that day and if I leave a message they call back within 24 hours. My only suggestion would be to take your cats to a specialist if they are sick and need something other than vaccinations, spay/neuter, or boarding. Cats are seem a bit more complex than dogs and from personal experience I will take my felines to the Cat Clinic in Brookside if they are sick. But Arrowhead Veterinary Services has been great for us!!!!

Maria Pitman: I am sorry to see so may negative reviews. I have boarded Molly here many times, and my previous dog too, and my animals have done well, and have been treated very well here. I can tell that Molly has been happy to be there when I pick her up. Only once I had asked them to give a nail trim and it was overlooked. I chose to not be upset by that as they had given Molly excellent care while there.

Kathy Killoy: My experience was 5 years ago. I would not use this facility again. I boarded my dog in August for a week. I received a call 1/2 way thru the week he was sick. I'm not sure why he got sick. I provided our food from home. When we picked him up he was crazy thirsty. Unfortunately I'm not sure what happened to him in their care, but he died the day we picked him up. They wanted me to bring my dead 90 lbs dog in for an autopsy-and pay them for it. I suspect not enough cool water was provided to him. I called my regular vet and they suspected bloat. I felt zero compassion from this boarding facility. Would not use

Shane nanneman: Hate this place and will never go back ! We bought a puppy that already had his first and second round of shot and brought him there to get his last round. After the shots and after my wife paid they told her they will not honor the shots he already had and started him all over again charging us 68.50 for shots he already had and didn't need. If I could do 0 stars I would. There are plenty of vets FIND A DIFFERENT ONE THEN THIS PLACE THEY WILL TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOU

Matthew Manning: Never had a problem in the past with this facility. I am currently frustrated with their no pickups on Sunday policy. They have staff to feed and walk dogs, but cant retrieve your pet and swipe your credit card? I think I will be going elsewhere.

I know that he will be taken care of and enjoy a day playing with friends. Melissa's is definitely my go to for Mallow to have some socialization and fun while we are at work all day.

Rachel Walsh: We’ve had the pleasure of using Melissa’s Menagerie services for day care and now as our wedding attendant most recently. We have used daycare at least once if not three times a week for about a year. I started looking into who I wanted to take care of our dog, Kevin, about 8 months before our wedding. I knew Melissa’s did outside work besides daycare. I just wasn’t familiar with their services. When I first began approaching them, Heidi and Melissa made me feel so comfortable that I knew I wouldn’t go wrong. There were some complications with my venue that day. Heidi, bless her heart, made sure that I was well taken care of as the bride. She ensured me that she would stay no matter what to get all the pictures I wanted with Kevin. She took pictures along the way (even though I didn’t have my phone with me that night). She has a such a sweet personality that makes you feel calm and that everything will be okay.

Jessica Fields: This is hard to write because when I used these boarding services last year, I would’ve given this place 5 stars.. this time however was much different. Dropped my cat off Friday & was told my cat would be staying in the office until that night then she’d go to the cat room after some kind of inspection was done. I picked my cat up Sunday afternoon and she was in the same spot in the office. Wasn’t told at this time why she was still in there. I had to physically get my cat out of the cage because she was so terrified of the dogs barking two feet away that she wouldn’t let anyone else touch her. Since, my cat has had diarrhea for days due to the stress she endured from the dogs barking day and night when before that; she’d never been around a dog. I had to call this establishment for them to realize that was an issue. Not to mention not communicating that the AC wasn’t working in the cat room. My cat is my family and I feel like I just took her to a bad retirement home. I’m so disappointed in this place. A simple phone call and I would’ve gladly made other arrangements.

Nicole Miller: There’s space for small dogs and large dogs, plus they work with reactive dogs and have an area for them too! It’s nice knowing my dog wouldn’t just be kenneled all day. They do different activities through the week sometimes too like bubbles and ball day!

Pat Snyder: I came home to find my back door standing open in 42 degree weather, after the pet sitter had been there. The time before that, the clean pee pads were laid over old dried urine. I have use them several times, but these last two times have been awful. Will never use them again. All the owner said was "I'm sorry". Not good enough.

Aidan Garrett: I follow Melissa’s rescue on Facebook and was so excited when I found that she runs a boarding/doggie daycare business as well, especially after seeing so many fantastic reviews and being personally recommended this facility by fellow CKCS owners. My dog stayed at Melissa’s Menagerie twice, and my cat stayed once. I boarded my dog for the first time over the Fourth of July weekend, as we had a wedding out of town. The facility seemed alright, and my dog was happy when we picked him up, so we used Melissa’s Menagerie to board both of our pets when we traveled for a family reunion later that month. We provided our cat’s wet food, as he’s missing six teeth and has puked every time we gave him dry food, and when we picked our pets up only two days’ worth of food had been used in the entire week we had been away. I had provided feeding instructions and no one had called about giving him different food, so I’m not really sure why his food would have been changed. This was a fairly minor gripe, as my cat seemed to have handled the dry food well, even though he was definitely heavier when we picked him up since he was seemingly allowed to free-feed and he has no self-control towards food.My dog was the MOST disappointing sight to see upon pickup. He was completely covered in what I can only assume was his own urine, and he had feces all over his tail, rump, and hind legs. He was even wet from fresh urine when we picked him up — I had to walk him immediately over to the dog-bathing business next door and I spent an hour washing and re-washing my 17-pound dog. I hadn’t selected the “bathe before pickup” option because my dog wasn’t covered in excrement the last time I picked him up, so why would I expect to him be in this type of condition this time? Frankly, I’m relieved I saw how they let him live in instead of picking the bath option, because now I know it just means that my pet is going to be completely neglected and allowed to live in total filth until it’s time for me to see him again.And on top of my dog being completely covered in excrement, he started vomiting and having diarrhea about ten days later. I took him to the vet, and he picked up giardia (spread through contact with infected animal’s feces) while he was at this place! Don’t let your pets stay here unless you’re ready to feel like a horrible pet-owner when you pick them up!!

Joe Lordan: I have used Melissa’s Menagerie to board my dogs twice now, and both times I’ve been very happy with the results! Everything is very reasonably priced, and they offer a bath and nail trimming service prior to pick up. Melissa’s Menagerie also does a really cute labeling service for any leash that comes in with a dog, which my kids absolutely love to show off to their friends haha.

This establishment allows vicious dogs to engage in playtime and doesn't monitor carefully. This place is dangerous and completely unacceptable.

They were definitely very happy to see us when we got back, and they were clean and washed up!They can't tell me if they enjoyed it, but I think one of our dogs which is usually more suspicious of other dogs came back more friendly somehow.I was definitely nervous to board our dogs for the first time (ever at any facility), but they allowed us to come ahead of time to tour the facility which really helped our nerves.Highly recommended!

Julie Clark: I hate to write this review. Our first experience a few months ago was absolutely fine. We felt like our dog was well cared for. She stayed a second time over New Years for 2 nights and we have had a completely different experience. Our dog is shaking and afraid of us. She is timid and cowers. She is not eating well and we have a difficult time engaging her to play. She was a snuggly dog prior to this second stay and now she won’t even snuggle with us. Something definitely had to have happened while she was there. When we called to inquire and talked with the manager, we were told everything was fine when she was there. I will definitely not be taking her back there, I highly recommend others don’t either. The vet said it may take months for her to act normal again after this traumatic experience. If you go back and read the 1 star reviews, this seems to be a common occurrence. I wish I would have saw those reviews prior to taking our beloved member of the family there. We are beyond crushed.

Sierra Brown: They were able to make room for us last minute while we dealt with family stuff. Their groomer Blair did an AMAZING job. The staff was really friendly and I love that they called my pup my kiddo and not my dog. I'm glad we used them and will again when back in town!!!

Joel Roth: Regretfully I am writing this review. The first time I took my dog to Pete and Mac's she seemed to do well and was taken care of. This past weekend was a completely different story. I came to pick up my dog and she couldn't leave fast enough and seemed very timid and afraid, which is odd because she is very playful and loves people. When I got home I noticed she had giant sores on her mouth that seemed a few days old (my dog was boarded for 3 nights). I pay extra for my dog to have solo play time so she wouldn't have received these from playing with other dogs. So either she was muzzled and left muzzled for long periods of time, or she was anxious and nervous in her kennel and Pete and Mac's did nothing about it. They never informed my wife or I that she was in distress or that anything could have happened. I would hope for a courtesy call to inform me if something has happened to my pet. When we called to make this right they told us they could do nothing and that it's not their fault. I am a big animal person and would recommend not taking your pets here because heaven forbid something does happen, you will not be informed, they won't try to make it right, and they won't care what so ever. I am sad to have to write this review because of how good our first experience was, but this has ruined this place for me. I will not allow a member of my family to be mistreated and for a business who claims to care for animals not care. I will be letting all my family, friends, and coworkers know this as well to keep their pets safe. For those of you who haven't experienced this, I am glad and hope you never do.
