Jake Bakula: Billy Kelly was extremely helpful in arranging multiple video calls, and coordinating delivery for my boat purchase as I am not in the area. Great communication, easy to reach, and highly knowledgeable with any questions that I had!
Brian Clayton: Had a lot of people work on my boat, but these guys were responsive and came out to my dock 2 times after they did multiple repairs at their shop. Old boats are hard to work on and they stood by their work. Got me running good and I’ll always use them.

Cole Oliphant: Great service, great people, the service department diagnosed and repaired our boat motor to perfection. In the past the service department helped me fix a problem over the phone, can't ask for anything better.
Jeremy Masters: Scheduling drop off and pickup was very customer friendly. Turnaround from drop off to troubleshooting was better than anyone else in the area. Technicians were able to diagnose starting issue and informed customer that boat “runs good”. Still needs some fine tuning so will be looking to return to shop when back in town.
Tom McFarlin: The amount charged for labor seems to be extremely high comparatively. My engine has been "diagnosed" and serviced twice and yet I am still having engine troubles.

They called Mercury and was able to get my power head replaced under warranty. Only took a couple weeks and i had my boat back. They guaranteed that in the spring it would start and run properly with no additional maintenance necessary. Today (in May) it started right up and ran better than it has in years. I also had questions about eccessories. Not one person greated me, asked me if I needed assistance or even noticed I was there. Anthony Vigliaturo: Went there to shop on a week day during the posted open hours and they were closed.
Chad Frisch: Bought a boat from Summit Boats and Gear a few weeks ago. The whole experience from start to finish was exceptional. It all started with a phone call and a recommendation from Jim on a 2018 Bayliner E18. I didn't have a chance to get out to see the boat for a couple days but did not want to miss the opportunity. Jim hosted a video call and walked through the boat with me over the phone, The time and information he gave went above and beyond what I was expecting. It was quite clear that Jim not only has a passion for boating but really knows his profession. I was able to make an offer and buy the boat quite quickly. I showed up to go through all the paperwork and Hilary was a pleasure to work with. She was thorough and quick and they had me on my way in no time. As a first time boat owner I have had quite a few questions. Jim took me on an initial run in the boat to show me the ropes. He has also been very responsive since the purchase in answering the various questions that have come up since. To put it simply they have made my boat owning experience great from the beginning. Thank you to Jim, Hilary, and staff.
Kim Simmons: Review by Rob Simmons - 2 Boats - Mastercraft Ski Boat - Bass Boat. In August 2020, I took my Mastercraft Ski Boat in for them to sell on consignment - Bass Boat in October 2020 so they could change the prop and it could be adjusted for a plane issue. My Mastercraft ended up in the caves until April and had never been listed - cover still on at pick up.After the bass boat had been there all winter with several follow up calls, I was told in April my prop shaft was bent and needed to be replaced. The price quoted was $900 plus labor, I told them that was a fair price and to fix it. I also ask that they replace the bearings while in the unit and the price quoted was $500 plus labor. As I waited patiently, I got a call a few weeks later and said the boat was ready. During that call, to quote them, my boat “ran like a bat out of hell” when they put in on Blue Springs Lake. Since the boat did not plane out, in my mind, I thought it was fixed! When I went to pick up the boat, I was told they had to fully replace the lower unit and now my bill was $5610.56……. SHOCKED! Talked to the mechanic at that point, when I asked him how it ran when he put it on the lake, he told me he never took it off the trailer!!!! After discussing that the original reason why the boat was brought in due to a plane issue, he said the lower unit had nothing to do with that. Now I am in $5600 and the initial problem was never addressed. At this point, my irritation was starting to show. Hilary told me he would adjust the motor, put the prop on an it would be done by that evening. I left with no more said and planned on picking the boat up the next day. In the middle of the morning, phone rings and it is the owner, Jim. He rudely starts of the conversation with what exactly is it that I want done to this boat. I tell him again the issues and why the boat is there. He immediately began to chastises me and told me I talked to the wrong guy when I dropped the boat off in October and I should only have talked to him or Hilary who were not there at the time it was left. This is the first conversation I have ever had with Jim; he proceeds to tell me he had called me and went over price and why the lower unit needed full replacement. At that point, I told him he had me confused with someone else…I would DEFINTELY remember a $6000 conversation!!!! Now Jim goes off telling me I am calling him a liar. I told him I was lied to by Hilary that my boat had been taken out to Blue Springs Lakes and ran, which was not the case. He really goes off at this point and tells me I am calling his wife and liar and he would put a mechanics lien against my boat. At this point, I just wanted to get my boats back and out of their hands. I told him I would be there to pay the $5600 and get my boats off his property. I immediately went to pick the boats up, wrote a check and asked the girl behind the desk if I could talk to the mechanic about the break in procedure for the lower unit. She informed me he was busy, and I would have to talk to Jim who wasn’t there, again. I told her never mind, I would call a friend who deals with Yamaha. As I am hooking up the bass boat, I looked at the lower unit and discovered the boat skid (attached pics) had been backed into and had damaged what I just paid $5600 for! When I picked the boats up, both trailers had flat tires, dead batteries and the boats were a MESS! The master switch was left on in the Bass Boat and my one-year old battery was shot. This place knows NOTHING about customer service, business, or boats. After further research with my Yamaha Dealer and telling him the story, he informed me they are not a Yamaha dealer and cannot buy individual parts. Yamaha would only sell them the whole unit, that explained a lot! To all my friends, family and neighbors who live on the lake, stay away from this place. Could not post without a 1 star review - would have given them ZERO! Josh and Cody are no longer there, and I know they took such good care of all of us in the past.
Jennifer Lattimer: Tried to buy a boat that Haley was selling on consignment. Had to call and ask for pictures twice needless to say I never saw any pictures of the boat. I wouldn't recommend having these guys sell anything for you or buy anything from them.

We got up early and drove down hoping to just get an idea maybe of what might be wrong but also assuming they would be too busy since its Friday of Memorial Day weekend. The boss told us to back up the boat to the shop door and they would take a quick look for us. Turns out the other shop hooked up the batteries incorrectly and one of the batteries had a low cell. Taking the time to help us with our issue made all the difference in the world to us and they have gained a new customer. Thank you for your help today and we will be seeing you soon.
Taylor Christensen: I have never trusted a boat shop until now. They were very knowledgeable and did amazing work. My job turned into a bigger mess than I expected and they treated my boat as it was their own. The best part was even with all of the work they had to do my boat was put back together and clean just like it was the day I took it in. I will be taking it to Summit Boats from now on. Joel: Josh and Paige are incredible people. They are honest, patient, and fair. If you're looking for a boat (particularly a ski, wakeboard, or wakesurf boat), this is the place to go. This is a zero pressure environment. If you already have a boat, their service department is exceptional and it's one of the few places in KC that services inboards. They offered me so much on my trade-in, I don't think they made any profit at all. I felt guilty when I saw them post it for sale at that price. They are the KC Nautique dealer, but they have quite a few trade-ins for sale too. Not that it matters, if you ever drive a Nautique, you will never go back to another boat. The wake behind mine is scary.

I am paying annual property tax on labor. I asked them to rectify the problem, more argument.Don't do it, they are dishonest.Edit 10/18/22 trying to renew my plates and due to everything being on one recipient having a terrible time tracking everything down.This dealer is garbage. I'm amazed they are still open.

A S: My husband took his pontoon in for repair and they told him they would get back with him in a week and did not notify him until a month later when he called them. They said they were waiting on a welder to come and informed him the welder said it needed new logs so he picked it up and took it to another shop where they repaired it and he’s back on the water for $300 instead of the $9,000 Smithville marina was talking about! Bad, bad business!!

Mark Murray: Took my boat in. It had several issues. They gave me a fair price to fix it and were very detailed in explaining the issues. It runs so great now. It took them several weeks, but they set that expectation from the start. It was the beginning of boating season so they were very backed up. They are a certified Mercrusiser repair shop so they know quite a bit about them.I did have less than a stellar experience in the parts department. They werent that helpful, but overall it was a good experience with the repair.

Richard Kettler: This was a new adventure and new product launch for Lund called Veer X13. I started researching this boat in January when the boat was first introduced to the market. It was exactly what I had been looking for. I contacted both Veer and Sportsman’s Outfitters who was the dealership for the new product. Both answer back immediately with the information that I was seeking.I was contacted by Carl Johnson at Sportsman’s Outfitters and he explained to me that they had pre-ordered 5 new Veer X13 and I could put my order on one of them. Well that’s when the awesome process began. Sportsman’s Outfitters is located in Missouri and I was located in Texas. Some people might think this would be a hassle but not with Carl and his group at Sportsman’s Outfitters. Carl updated me by email and telephone each week on the progress of the build of the boat. Carl contacted me and said awesome news the boat arrived at the dealership. Carl work with my schedule to pickup the boat. Being 9 hours away we needed to make the delivery of the boat seamlessly as possible.Sportsman’s and Carl did exactly that. The boat was placed inside his showroom and was completely PDI ready for delivery. Carl went over every detail about the boat and answer every question that I had. I was never rushed through the whole inspection process of the boat and Carl was there by my side step for step. When it came time to do the paperwork Carl had it all done. To my surprise Carl had already completed all forms I needed to get the boat registered and titled in the State of Texas. Wow that was awesome. If you’re in the market to purchase a Veer X13 or any other boat these guys are top notch and don’t be afraid if you’re several states away. They will make the purchase fill like dealing with your next door neighbor. I think the name should read 5 Star Sportsman’s Outfitters.Living the DreamRichard Kettler

He listened to us, gently encouraged us to make the right decision but made very clear the pros and cons of the decisions we were weighing.We absolutely love our Harris Solstice and already have priceless and countless memories for my family because of it.On top of that - as any boat owner is suspect to have - there was a unique issue when we first got the boat. The owners went above and beyond to make it right, operating with class and positivity in helping us rectify the situation. Again - impressed with their commitment to customers as they didn’t have a contractual obligation, but wanted to do the right thing and made sure things were made right.The over the top assistance came by way of their shop - Scott is as good as they make ‘em. Detailed, on top of his game and so on point with all of our needs big and small. From making that original emergency runs to support us to simply being the only place I trust for off-season care, it is the peace of mind that most of my boating friends wish they had. Scott - you are one of the good guys.I count myself lucky to have met this group - it’s great to have people that you trust looking out for your big investments, but more so as their purpose is to help you realize the dream that you’ve always had.Also - this review comes a full two years + after I bought the boat. Daniel Steiner: Purchased a Lund 1875 crossover. I have never purchased from them before but I knew a lot of friends who had. It was a super expierence as they gave me advice that was accurate. Since then I’ve gone back to them to have Garmin nav and fishing sonars installed along with live view. Couldn’t be happier as their shop does solid work. That’s kinda hard to find anymore. Josh was our sales person who dutifully answered our many questions. Both before and after the sale. The service persons name is Joe and he’s great to work with as I had a lot of questions about the electronics packages. What can I say he gave it to us straight. Highly recommend as a trustworthy dealership.

Marcus Pratt: The for sale box of ammunition I wanted to purchase was not marked with the price, forcing me to buy a more expensive box that I really could not afford. It was only after I purchased my ammunition that a salesman put the correct price on the ammunition. When I brought this to their attention, they inform me that I would have to go up to the refund counter and go through the whole process of getting a refund and then purchasing the ammunition that was on sale! I felt that they could have easily avoided this by simply advising me of the sales price in the first place. Normally I have very good purchasing experiences with Bass pro, but this time I was a little inconvenienced with the purchase in this particular case.

Sara Beth Prideaux: If you are a woman who is looking for hiking gear and/or shoes do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. The women's clothing section doesn't offer any real attire fit for doing any serious hiking yet the men's section does. I went to try on hiking boots and Bass Pro apparently does not cater to wide sized feet. Bass Pro definitely needs to step up their game.
Tim Smith: Check out was very slow. There was only one person ahead of me and it took 10 minutes to get through the line. The cashier seemed very interested in chatting with the lady ahead of me. The customer service area had 2 people standing around doing nothing. I understand customer service representatives are not allowed to take customers money for purchase. The credit card reader is an older slower version that keeps popping up messages to leave your card in the reader. These machines need to be updated.

Jason Gibson: I ordered online for instore pickup. It would have been faster for me to come in myself. While I am always satisfied with the selection, there is always a lot of people around, but onky a few allowed to work customer service.
Shea R.: Had the best customer service at the gun counter with Mike! We came in close to closing time and he helped us right away, didn’t rush us and answered all the questions we had. Walked away with a great handgun & a happy experience. We will definitely be back! Go ask for Mike!

Sara LaMastres: I have been visiting this Bass Pro since I was a child. I have many memories here and I'm glad I get to make memories with my children here too! My son and I visited the other day and he loves to see the animals. The store is always clean and well organized and the animals are obviously well taken care of! I just wish the restaurant was still open. The food was great and again, great memories there! Hopefully it comes back in the future!
